Black Mumsnetters - a new section

Hi all and welcome to the new board.

From recent discussions on the boards we realise that, as with parents of children with special needs, or parents who are LGBT - there will be sensitivities and common experiences that Black MNers will find easier to talk about in a dedicated space.

The board exists primarily for the use of black Mumsnetters. While others are of course welcome to use it, please be respectful and mindful that this is a 'safe space' for those posters. While some may be happy to answer questions on race, others may not and it's not their responsibility to educate on these issues.

Please feel free to contribute, and to invite any others who might find the board useful - and please do let us know about any ideas, suggestions or concerns that you may have.

@babyb2nd don't feed the troll. It's what they want. You're right to be angry and to want to react but it just fires them up.

Just press "report" on the post . No point engaging. Just a bunch of saddos chuddering on with the same old same old.

They are hoping there are no mods about. It will get sorted eventually.

I hear you, they're sickening - if you click to the right of their name you should be able to report their posts to MN. I'm on it, don't know why I bother feeding them, on one level I think I can reason with them (not a chance if anyone's entrenched racist/bigot) but I do it for the lurkers who don't know what's going on or are genuinely innocent or new to it all And if it takes the heat off you guys, all the better as they can throw what shit they like at me on here lol

I've just stumbled across this but how do we know posters are black?
Only reason I ask was they'res definitely being dubious posts by posters claiming to be women of colour but sound like white men.

Nobody knows who is black, white or green. Does it really matter? If it's an issue that's pertinent to you, then post. If it's not, because it's something for a black poster, then move along.

If you suspect dubious posters, then report them to MNHQ.

... and nobody is forbidden from posting in this section (unless they're posting to goad or attack or be racist - all things you wouldn't be allowed to do under Talk Guidelines on any other board)

Haven't been on MN properly for a few weeks so just catching up. Really pleased to see that there is a Black MNers board now. The racism and nastiness on @PatricksRum's threads asking for dedicated space was appalling.

Meant to say does it matter? It's been said that don't have to be black to post but what would we have to post about really - why would it be relevant? Eg I'm not going to b post in did that happen or hair care as nothing to add

I know with absolute certainty that not everyone who is here posting is Black.
Those who have been contributing have been lovely.

I'm not - I'm white. I don't want to intrude on a dedicated space for black women, for all the reasons that were previously articulated on @PatricksRum's prior threads. But I wanted to post on this thread in support of, and to celebrate, the creation of the space, because I was so fucking disgusted by the blatant racism in those previous discussions.
