Hello!

I got behind on the threads back in May I think, and haven't been brave enought to try and catch up, but really missing you lot!

I've skimmed this thread, but that's all I've managed to look at!

I've got 4 more weeks at work, but finding it super-tiring as getting puffed out just standing up these days!

Planning on a homebirth, and have provisionally booked to hire a pool.

I've bought most stuff (had done when I was last on here really!) and have half packed the 'hospital bags' in case baby decides to arrive early.

Have got a few reusable nappies from the nappy lady, followed the recomendations they gave in the end, but really liking the bamboozle stretch ones, they feel lovely.

Any way, hopefully I'll be able to keep up with everything now...

Ivytheterrible · 10/08/2010 11:11

tired I have to say I started to panic about the whole nursery thing. I only rang one up to humour my mum who has been going on for weeks about me needing to start loking around. I did ring 2 others and they said to wait until baby is born but don't leave it too long after...so not so stressed now! I'm going back at the start of April as can't afford to be on stat pay for any longer than that so have less time than you to get organised. I just don't want to be stuck with somewhere I'm not 100% happy with or is miles away from home etc.

Elsa123 · 10/08/2010 11:24

I've just sent my DH a link to the mountain buggy as an alternative option to the Spin just in case.

Welcome back Jennimoo long time no see. Lordy, you're so organised! I have 4 weeks left too and am getting more of a can't be bothered line of thought!

Don't panic Ivy, you have time. There's nothing wrong with registering a place now. My colleague advised me to do the same for where i work now, even if I don't come back here. My worry is, if I get sent somewhere new and don't get much notice, I'd find it hard to get a nursery place, so am thinking of alternative options. Also, don't forget childcare vouchers- they seem to be a good pre tax money saver.

nymphadora · 10/08/2010 12:36

Ibsen at hospital this am. Waiting room heaving & v slow. 2 women went in & didn't come out. Saw one going through to Maternity & her dh came running through saying 'this is it' though she didn't seem that bouncy Grin

My appt went ok, consultant had been called away so saw registrar who did usual stuff but was obsessed with my bp which was lowest it had been! Baby head down which may explain my waking in the night as it was traverse yesterday! Staying on 2 weekly appts now & consultant next time again rather than MW.

Got Physio this pm

Busy day for you Nymph. Glad your blood pressure was lower! have fun at the physio (I'm sure that it won't be fun, but its necessary) I'm off to an equality and diversity workshop in a few minutes. Deep joy.

piesey · 10/08/2010 13:45

Hi everyone

Well we have finally moved house! It all went through and we are in the new flat now. It's all good, although a bit of a state with boxes everywhere. We unpacked the kitchen and made up our bed so we are sort of living in the bedroom at the moment as we have no other furniture yet!

Unfortunately we also have no boiler as I smelt gas when I turned it on (got to love my amazing sense of smell since I've been pregnant) and had to call Transco round to get them to take a look - they condemned it! We knew it wouldn't last too much longer but I wonder how long it's been leaking gas for... Anyhow having to get that sorted out ASAP.

Once we've done that I can start getting some actual baby stuff which is exciting!

nymphadora · 10/08/2010 13:57

Well done piesey good timing baby wise, can be mostly settled by Oct & nesting should help Wink

elsa we have just had a huge list of compulsory equality&diversity courses, starting next month & running til march so will miss the lot!

OP posts:
Elsa123 · 10/08/2010 14:49

Good timing Nymph! Just gpt back- wasn't too bad, but I've got soaked as its throwing it down. I'd much rather that though than boiling hot weather.

Good spot/sniff on the gas Piesey- its lucky its not the depths of winter. I hope you get a replacement sorted soon. Are you renting or owning? Our boiler packed up the other day but we had immersion to see us by. The boiler's fixed now, but needs a service. Its an external oil one.

nymphadora · 10/08/2010 16:26

Had Physio. Got support belt which lasted all the way home before babystarted ramming & squirming and going mental.really hurt so took it off & baby stopped almost immediately Hmm

OP posts:
Hermya321 · 10/08/2010 16:36

Nymph My LO doesn't like the support belt either, I try and wear it as much as I can stand and then take it off when it gets too much. I think it's the pressure from the damn thing.

nymphadora · 10/08/2010 16:54

It was baby hurting me not the belt! Physio said use it for work & going places but leave it off at home.baby having a rough day anyway , didn't like hospital!

OP posts:
Elsa123 · 10/08/2010 17:01

I kno wwhat you mean about the babies not liking pressure! mine seems to have its feet stuck up under my ribs- very uncomfortable for both of us I think as it os wriggling away!

nymphadora · 10/08/2010 17:10

Dd2 hated being swaddled after birth too. MW kept wrapping her up & she would scream

OP posts:
AbFabT · 10/08/2010 23:09

Glad we all seem to be getting there with the prams and things! Our Xplory has been successfully assembled, and looks gorgeous! Very happy! :)

I've got four reusable nappies, so a bit behind there, but thinking we should make it along to the London Baby Show a few weeks after this LO arrives, and can have a good look around at the various types then. Or I might get the selection pack from the Nappy Lady. Hermya, you do sound like our resident nappy guru! :)

piesey, a new home, HOW exciting! I am ready to move, too - love this place, but it's not spacious. But we are going to make do for at least the next year, rather than mortgage ourselves up to the hilt.

Had a good weekend, went to a Birth Preparation Workshop which was just lovely and empowering, and DH and I feel ready for this birth lark! Well, as ready as you can ever be!
Less than eight weeks til our due date! Gosh it's speeding along!

Hermya321 · 11/08/2010 07:46

Has anyone else mentally checked out at work yet? I'm not even 30 weeks and I'm sat at work thinking 'seven weeks left' and I just really can't be bothered to do a damn thing. In fact, it would suit me just fine if they left me in a corner with some pieces of paper that I could suffle in order to look busy. Oh well, not long now eh. Gosh we're all pretty much on the home straight now aren't we. I wonder who'll be the first of us to have our LO's?

Other than that I managed to give myself a spectacular wack on my face last night by somehow throwing myself into the bedside cabinet. It's only been there for the past two years, it hasn't moved. You would have thought I would have worked out how to advoid it by now. Blush

Abfab What sort of stuff did you learn on your course? Have you seen some of the new Mama's and Papa's Millie and Borris stuff, they have some lovely nice neutrally bedding in at the moment and some of it is just so so lovely. I also see you took the pram out of the box, have you been wheeling it around the living room?

Elsa123 · 11/08/2010 08:56

Ouch Hermya- Are you ok or bruised? Yes, I've already started the switchover at work too, but its ramping up on how busy things are, so I don't have a lot of choice. i am however coming in late tomorrow as the mw asked me if i'd prefer my appointments first thing or late morning. I said first thing, thinking how convenient it would be, but it turns out her definition of first thing is very different to mine. my appointment is at 1000, so I'm not bothering to go into work to have to come home again 90 mins later Grin.

Well done on getting your Xplory up AbfabT! I'm jealous that you have a functioning pushchair. I'm hoping that the replacement Spin for the faulty one I have is ok. I also salute your get up and go when it comes to going to the baby show!

nymphadora · 11/08/2010 09:32

Ouch hermya I've checked out but I've only got tomorrow & mon am then I'm on leave til mat leave so bit more of an excuse!

Hermya321 · 11/08/2010 09:35

I'm ok Elsa the side of my face is just a bit tender, no bruises seem to have emerged.

Elsa123 · 11/08/2010 10:57

Oh good- I hope they don't. My face doesn't bruise that easily even when I've really whacked it (or had it whacked -totally innocently) but the rest of my body bruises like a peach. The last time I had my face whacked was bending down to lift my spaniel into the car and he leapt up at the same time and headbutted my eyebrow with his ridiculously hard head. It was really tender and gave me enough of a headache to make me feel sick, but no real bruising.

I have lady who comes to the house at lunchtime and lets the dogs out and feeds my emaciated spaniel who, despite being over 2 still needs 3 meals a day as he burns off food like nobody's business. I was worried yesterday as I could not remember taking the key out of the back door and was hoping that she'd be able to get in. It was no drama for her as I had left the key in the door, on the outside, unlocked! Soo clever of me....Hmm.

AbFabT · 11/08/2010 11:57

Hermya, OUCH! Your poor face!
I haven't been back to M&P, we have pretty much all we need re clothing/sleeping bags, do still need muslins but I don't think I want to pay M&P prices, even in the sale! Will probably get them from BabiesRUs when we go to Scotland to visit the in-laws, as they have a store locally.

I have also been thinking that we could start popping now! I lurk on another board sometimes, and some of the October group have started giving birth.

There is no room in our lounge to do anything other than lounge! So no, not been wheeling the pram around, just admiring it! I didn't put it up, DH did! I take one look at instructions, and my head hurts!

Elsa, well, I am due early October, and the London Baby Show is at the end, so as long as I have a good birth, I think I'll be ok to go! My mum wants to come, and I am sure I'll be getting lots of help with the new arrival from her (and Dh, of course!), so I can rest when I need. I just loved the Baby Show when we went in May, got so many bargains, and it was just good for being able to look at lots of different things under one roof. And it's very close to where we are in London. Else, there is one in February.

The course was short, but we learnt about the stages of labour, some good positions for labour (do not lay down on your back!!!), and the teacher taught the OHs some good massage techniques to help us. She ended with this little motivational speech type thing, which was really moving and inspiring, and I just feel like woo, I can do this birthing malarkey!

lilmissmummy · 11/08/2010 12:51

Great to see everyone back again... I can never keep up, mainly because I have a rain like a sieve and keep losing days. Also it is the summer holidays and I have to keep spending time with my children! Grin

I am back to hospital this afternoon to have my blood sugar checked again (I have to go back every week) although I have felt a lot better this week.

I am sooooo jealous of you all having your prams, we have ordered the icandy apple in grape and black but it is not being delivered until the end of September, along with the cot and carseat :( want it now!!! We have however got the changing table up and he cradle (family heirloom) arrives with my Dad at the end of August.

Sorry to hear about your face hermya

Oooh I hadn't even considered we could start popping soon! How exciting!

I think I wil try and get along to the bab show in OCt too Abfab hopefully baby will have arrived by then otherwise I will have to give it a miss.

Glad it is not just me doing stupid things Elsa I am struggling to put a sentence together at the moment!

Elsa123 · 11/08/2010 13:11

OMG AbfabT! How scary- I don't feel at all prepared!

nymphadora · 11/08/2010 13:41

I have me pram , I'm fine ....

DillyDora · 11/08/2010 13:50

HI All,

you sound like busy mummies! I am going shopping with my stepma tomorrow for baby stuff - just John Lewis, I'm not going anywhere else - too lazy and I just hate shopping so I'm really dreading it - ungrateful Sad We get our cot second hand from friends in September, and a friend has given me a ring sling to use from birth though I think DH will still want a Baby Bjorn (though I think the ergo is ace - my friend was demonstrating it to us with her hilarious 7 month old modelling and really hamming it up - very very funny!)

So tired and teary at the mo, really overwhelmed, I don't know what's up with me... being pg perhaps?!

xx

lilmissmummy · 11/08/2010 16:56

agggghhhhhhh just seen the doctor and they re going to induce me 2 weeks early - so now only 8 weeks to go! So scared!!

dilly you are not alone in the tired and tearyness!

I am pathetic! Grin
