Medee · 14/07/2010 21:20

medee I'm fascinated as to what you mean by "feeling pregnant" - do you mean you've turned in to some uber Earth woman? Or you're gently pulsating with rage?

No, more just ongoing twinges in my nether regions, that suggest baby-growing activity. But suddenly tonight I thought that I had better do another pregnancy test before my midwife appointment on Monday, just to make sure again!

My copy fo WTEWYE arrived today, making good reading so far.

Muser · 14/07/2010 21:22

Ha, I did another test just before my GP appointment in case I'd imagined it!

Medee · 14/07/2010 21:30

glad I'm not the only one to think of that!

Cosmosis · 14/07/2010 21:55

our NCT Class just had its first baybee!! TGO is jealous

organiccarrotcake · 14/07/2010 21:59

silver
cos yes, I was the second in our class - scary when it happens!!

Ok bye y'all xxx See you on the other side!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 15/07/2010 05:18

Soooo, medee/muser, how many POAS have you done?

2nd timers - fingernails - his are getting harder now and hurting - flailed into my face/drawn down boobs/neck. How should I shorten them?

Muser · 15/07/2010 08:04

After the positive one? I think I only did one. Just to check the conception indicator on the CBD was going up. No, wait, two. One for the GP, one for the conception indicator. I think that's boringly non-menkul?

But then I did get a 6 week scan, and then I started throwing up. So I've kind of accepted it all now.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 15/07/2010 08:46

Pah Muse that's nothing. What admirable self-control! Not only did I do the first one really early (guaranteeing frantic further confirmations of v. faint line) but I then did one every day or two just to sort of monitor the situation. I didn't count how many . So, looks like I 'll be keeping this for a while, as muse, medee and drom don't have the same capacity for madness at all: .

I had a lovely appointment with my midwife last night (actually it's a team and it will be one of three - I've now met two, both fab.)She was really helpful and reassuring as always and I have a good feeling about being with them. She had a go at getting baby's heartbeat and she (the baby not the midwife) seemed to break into a spirited Irish jig. My stomach was bouncing up and down and everything. So a bit hard to get a fix on her, but we concluded she was doing pretty well.

I have signed up for a class - a Belgian one in September. It's five couples I think and it sounds very good.

Holidays booked too, in a blaze of organisation! Hurrah - off to Galicia/Asturias for a couple of weeks. Can't wait...

rollerbaby · 15/07/2010 10:48

God I was doing about 2-3 a day for a fortnight. What a nutter.

Had 24 week MW app yesterday. Apparently iron levels have dropped even lower than before which doesn't bode well for later pregnancy apparently or if I lose blood at birth (as has been documented on other thread). Soooo have 4 weeks to get the levels up or have to take the hospital issue stuff. Diet now consists of daily steak, broccoli and some liquid iron supplment made of natural shit. Jolly good.

Met up with okie last night for steak and a mini carafe of red wine. It was LUSH. Talked non stop at poor woman. There isn't much she doesn't know about me now. T'was fun, eh Okie. I think downtown Battersea was quite amused at sight of hot, flushed preggos necking malbec.

am liking sound of Galicia Twitty you iz very lucky girl. My next and last hol is a week in Whitstable whereupon I will stumble up and down beach and get propped up in pubs by my family (due to size not drunkness).

Ski aren't you supposed to nibble the nails? Sounds painful...

FannyPriceless · 15/07/2010 11:08

ski Clyde's nails are really easy as when they get a bit long it's easy to grab a little end bit and pull it off. However, if I had tried this with Bonnie it would have been impossible. With her I had to use tiny baby nail clippers but it was a two man operation and gave me nightmares every time we tried it. Important to pull back the finger pad so it doesn't catch. As it was we had one episode of screaming finger bleeding that was a horror in every way.

iggypiggy · 15/07/2010 11:10

Morning all!

I haz NO NEWS.. but is ok, I has lovely breakfast in little cafe place, so am happy...

ski in our NCT class we were told to nibble their nails down or if we really couldn't face that, buy the tiny baby nail clippers...

cossie only two weeks and a bit for you!! Until continuous cake eating, I mean...

PerfectDromedary · 15/07/2010 11:18

Hello! Igs Still pregnant, then?

I feel better today! This is a) good, in that I have been able to do some work and b) bad, in that it is making me menkul. Please to attack me with the comedy violence and remind me that I still felt fecking awful this morning and will do again by the evening?

I have my booking-in midwife thingy on Saturday morning. What questions do I need to ask, oh wise PESHes?

Oh, and I had a little cry the other night when I discovered that TNB had downloaded the What to Expect app without mentioning it to me, and had been reading up on pregnancy stuff. Is cute, no?

Ski I have also heard the nibbling nails rumour. Sounds odd, but then so does pushing something large out of one's vag.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 15/07/2010 11:20

You know, I have heard the nibbling the nails thing too honey. The joys of motherhood eh? Get nibbling ski!

Honey I have to go and get my iron levels checked too. next week probably - as well as a suger/diabetes test - have you had that too? I am sure you'll be able to get your levels up with the diet described...The "natural shit" sounds a bit disgusting, but I'm assuming this is not literal, hmmm? Steak and red wine are surely a good step in the right direction anyway!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 15/07/2010 11:22

Ahhh drom - I was also super touched when I realised from sudden knowledgeable comments made by boyfy that he had been reading up on the sly. Very sweet and supportive....

No idea what questions to ask - I expect the midwives will be a mine of information all by themselves. that's what mine was like anyway...

SkiHorseWonAWean · 15/07/2010 11:27

I too was advised on the nibbling, but, and it pains me to say this, fingernails are on the list of things I won't eat - and I'll happily chow down on most anything. I shall ask jailbait - failing that, mini clippers it is. I was also told to use cardboard - fail, so tried a nail buffer - failed. Jailbait's fingernails are chewed and virtually non-existant, I shall ask him to supplement his diet...

honey Might I recommend a black russian with a splash of Guinness for medicinal purposes?

drom That's really good, and WTE has a lot of good advice for the men too.

I've just been out for my first family outing with the baby in the pram. It's all worth it!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 15/07/2010 11:28

Btw, One Born Every Minute reached these distant shores yesterday and we thoroughly enjoyed it - filled with mirth we were. I refused to download it when you lot were watching it in the UK as it would've turned my blood cold.

Backinthebox · 15/07/2010 11:45

Morning all. Will be offline for a few days, and we all know what happened last time I did that eh, Igs?

FannyPriceless · 15/07/2010 11:57

box is going away...
iggs is going to pop...

But wait a minute. Last time box disappeared it wasn't the next person on the list who popped, was it? It was the one after that. So cossie, looks like it'll be you!

OP posts:
Cosmosis · 15/07/2010 12:07

Oh fuck.

box can you wait 2 weeks to go away please? I really really need to have finished work first!!

Backinthebox · 15/07/2010 12:16

It wasn't just one, though, was it? A whole baby party happened while I was away. Anyway - switching the computer off now. Definitely going! Catch you all on Sunday.

FannyPriceless · 15/07/2010 12:19

Ha ha box. Well in that case, if you check the not-list, the joke's on YOU!! Be afraid. And make sure wherever you're going has a good supply of hot water and clean towels.

OP posts:
Backinthebox · 15/07/2010 12:22

Far too far off for me. Besides, I have ordered baybee for 08/09/10 - I think that sounds nice, and we are always late in our family by weeks and weeks and weeks. I save all of my 'on time-ness' for work. I quite like the idea of sitting at the top of the not-list for a while in splendid isolation. Anyway - byeee!

Muser · 15/07/2010 12:32

Drom I have my booking in appt next week, so will be interested to hear how yours goes. It was meant to be today but I cancelled due to excessive work.

MrM made me sob yesterday because he wrote in my birthday card that it would be the last one just the two of us. The idea that I might actually have a baybee next year is all a bit scary.

On POAS. Given I could turn a stick positive for weeks and weeks with the ectopic I really wasn't buying it as a method of checking if everything was ok. That's probably why I was so restrained. Now, if I'd been able to check bloods every day it might have been a different story.

SkaterGrrrrl · 15/07/2010 12:45

Heyyyy mums and almost mums! How are ya? I am feeling really good, had a scan yesterday with LovelyScottishDoctor, baby now weighs 2kgs and has its head down. 6 weeks to go!

@ switty's Galicia hols and bless Mr Muse, I would have cried too.

Discussed pain relief at NCT last week, group leader asked who has tried G&A. About 4 of us raised our hands and I felt moved to add that I had tried it "recreationally". Everyone else than said they'd had it at the dentist. Oh the druggy shame!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 15/07/2010 12:53

Recreationally Skates?! Good God, that was a new one for them I would say? I take it you answered first, or you would have demurely murmured "dentist" as well, non? Still, I think we may need a bit more background here...

Byyeee Boxy, have fun! I have just had a look to see where I am on the not-list and I am right at the bottom practically, despite the fact that I am starting to feel like a total pro at this preggers thang. Is it possible I still have 4 months to go? Well, yes, let's hope so (but I think I am already huge...). This impression has not been helped by recent postings of teeny svelte little bump pictures on the November thread. You seen them honey? Tell me that you feel the same?
