Thinking of you tomorrow, Diane - Good Luck!

Redhelen · 28/08/2005 20:43

YES - Very distressed about very hot weather on its way. I just hope its not humid and stays cooler at nights (please!) perhaps I should do some ironing - I'll never manage it on a hot day!!!

Come out baby - your time is up!!! (well nearly 2 weeks to go!) Could have had c-section this Monday/Tuesday - may be I should have demanded one! dh wants a natural experience (um indeed!)

Grump grump - best I go and iron!

mummyhill · 28/08/2005 21:47

Sorry to be posting so late but good luck tomorrow diane will be thinking of you.

Redhelen · 29/08/2005 10:43

Good bank holiday morning!! (except Scotland - sorry!)

Any babys? - sadly no movement here!

Diane is no doubt at the hospital xxxxxxxxxxx best of luck xxxxxxxxxx

KiwiKate · 29/08/2005 10:55

Saw mw today. She thinks the reason that baby did not arrive on Thursday after I had a "show" is because baby is still OP. Was LOP last week(apparently the worst OP position). Has now moved to ROP (much better, as a better chance of rotating to OA before or during labour).

Problem is that a posterior baby (incl ROP) has a higher risk of going overdue. But if this one turns anterior both mw and I believe it will arrive right away (but some of them don't go anterior at all, and some wait until you are actually in labour).

Was concerned to learn that according to local laws mw has to refer me to local hospital for induction at 40w+10days. Am doing Optimal Positioning exercises like mad now, hoping that baby will turn anterior and not go overdue. Surely they can't make you go in for an induction? At what stage is an induction recommended in the UK? (DH is very anti doing anything "contrary to medical advice")

bubbles2904 · 29/08/2005 10:57

Good bank holiday morning to you too redhelen. well we have a couple of days until officially in september and diane would have produced number 3 by now. it's all so exciting isn't it?!
Well i had a trip to the labour ward yesterday as b aby hadn't moved for about 14 hours and dp was getting very worried, i knew all would be fine and as soon as the monitor was strapped on, the kicking started.
Hope everyone else is ok too. i have no energy to move today whatsoever so i think it will be another day spent lying on the couch and watching friends.

bubbles2904 · 29/08/2005 10:59

kiwikate, i think in most cases they let you go 2 weeks over here. not 100% sure about that though.

mummyhill · 29/08/2005 11:21

Most areas allow you to go 14 days over before they tryin insiting on an indyuction but as far as i am aware you can still refuse this.

I have the midwife comming out to me at some point today, will see what she has to say. Am still feeling uncomfy when up and about durring the day but everything seems to settle down again when I go to bed. Quite frustrating really as I want to be able to hold the baby.

mummyhill · 29/08/2005 11:22

God typing skills have gone out of the window, please excuse all the errors in my recent posts.

Redhelen · 29/08/2005 11:47

KiwiKate

Do you know what all these abbreviations mean?? been told I'm Ceph roa (or rather baby is)think this means head down bum at top pointing out!

As I've had a c-section I will only be able to go to a week over (have early induction booked for 40+1 - however I'll believe that when I see it!)

milward · 29/08/2005 14:22

Hello All - wonder who'll be next!!
I've got a while to go ....until the 24/25!! Saw some of the mums from school today at the supermarket & general comment was you're still pregnant!! plus how big I am (very true). So looking forward to hearing this lots when kids go back on thursday. Feeling very heavy plus not enjoying the hot weather as much as I should be - red in the face from trying to run/waddle round the garden after my 3!!
HAve a checkup on wed & will have group strep b test - had this last time.

diane77 · 29/08/2005 15:21

hi all

just to let you know my section was cancelled as the baby has turned!!!! Im a wee bit dissapointed but would much rather prefer a normal labour and shorter recovery period. Its a wonder the stress of today doesnt put me into labour!!!!!

bubbles2904 · 29/08/2005 15:40

hi diane, i don't know whether to be happy for you or sad. i guess it's good news really as like you say you will have a much quicker recovery. so the race for number 3 is still on then?! wonder who it will be..................

mummyhill · 29/08/2005 16:42

((hugs)) diane I know you were hoping that you could get it all over and done with but as you say a normal delivery has a much quicker recovery time welcome back into the race for baby number three. Midwife has been out and everything is fine, she agrees with me that it will probably be a lot of start, stop, start, stop for me this time round. Have backache and feel really sleepy at the moment. May have a bath and a bit of a nap.

ych · 29/08/2005 16:42

Dianne77 - sorry your section got cancelled, but I suppose it's better in the end. It must be disapointing but not long til your due date anyway.

Redhelen · 29/08/2005 16:59

diane77 - I'm sorry!

I was disappointed when I was told I didn't need a section / and pleased at the same time (hard to know whats the best - the speed and conveience or the quicker recovery time!!)

Oh I wonder when next baby will appear! mummyhill- not enjoying the weather either!! swelling up again - oh great!

LadyLazarus · 29/08/2005 17:51

diane - sorry they cancelled you. I can imagine if you've geared yourself up to have it, it must be a bit of a disappointment to be sent home babyless! Hopefully not long for you tho!

PiccadillyCircus · 29/08/2005 17:55

Sorry you had your c-section cancelled dianne although glad that your baby has turned .

Will type more later as DS is wandering around and probably deserves more attention .

Katts · 29/08/2005 19:16

Redhelen, does Ceph ROA mean cephalic Right oblique anterior? So head down on back on the right but lying slightly across the body rather than straight up and down? Ok. That's a guess.

Feeling very lonely and friendless today as DP is out at carnival for the second day today and none of my friends seem to be around. Probably all out at carnival too. Plus I still have a cold and it's getting pretty hard to breath. grrrr...

Diane, sorry your section was cancelled but I hope you won't have a long wait now. xx

PiccadillyCircus · 29/08/2005 19:59

Back again, having put DS to bed .

DH is out tonight, sadly not having fun though as he is dismantling an exhibition (work related) along with various other colleagues. He will be back whenever it is done so could be any time during the night/morning. But he does have his mobile phone with him, switched on and with a very loud ring in case anything happens.

In some ways it's quite nice to have the house to myself this evening, although the limit of my excitement will probably be being able to spread out in the whole bed for a bit.

Our Phil and Teds buggy came on Saturday and we all played with it yesterday . Not sure who was most impressed - DH or DS . DS kept saying "buddy, buddy", being his translation for buggy and DH said something about it being "an excellent piece of kit" or some similar sounding words. As he was very suspicous of it before it came, I think his reaction was very good. DS seems to have some idea that the little baby coming to live with us will go in the buggy as well, although what he will think when this is reality I have no idea.

I have been getting swollen again. I am sure it is just to do with (a) it getting a bit hotter and (b) being over 37 weeks pregnant but I have worries at the back of my mind. And also worries nearer the front of my mind about what way up this baby is.

Right, had better atop now as I need to do a bit of tidying up after the whirlwind DS .

beatie · 29/08/2005 20:01

I think ROA means Right Octiput Anterior. So the baby has it's back on your right hand side and it is slightly forward.

beatie · 29/08/2005 20:37

Diane - Just wanted to echo what everyone else said. Sorry you've had a date set in your mind to meet your baby and now you're as clueless as the rest of us. But, as you sound happy about a spontaneous labour, then it's great news that your baby turned.

beatie · 29/08/2005 20:38

Am I the only one who is suddenly sleeping a lot. I feel completely energy deprived now - mentally and physically - and I can sleep anywhere/anytime. Still getting up in the night for loo breaks though

pooka · 29/08/2005 20:53

How frustrating Diane - but positive in some respects, though.
I'm also feeling absolutely knackered Beatie. I seem to have a couple o good nights followed by a couple of nightmares - the other night getting up 8 times to pee as the baby was in a funny position and dd was up for an hour, teething I think.
I think we have finally sorted everything out after a monumental trip to Ikea on Saturday, and marathon furniture construction and rubbish removal over the weekend. We now have a functioning spare room (having found with dd that it was useful in our old house to have a spare bed for dh/me when we were giving each other a break from dd at night time - long way off, I know), dds new room will have carpet soon, and dds old room will become the baby's room when it moves out of ours. Our bedside crib is assembled. DD had enormous fun lying down in it while being wheeled around upstairs a la casualty, with all her toys. She just fits lengthways! She said she wanted a nap in Lucy's small cot, and when I said that it was for the baby when it arrives, she said "No - Lucy's small cot." Hmmmmmm....
I'm really enjoying her at the moment, not that I don't usually, but I suppose I'm trying to make the most of her on her own before the new baby arrives. Feel like it's the end of an era. And she did 5 pees in her potty today, although that's due in part to the fact that she was completely naked practically all day and is also being bribed with chocolate buttons. We're not making a concerted effort to potty train though, because I'm not sure it's really the right time, but are encouraging positive vibes.
So all in all, am ready for the new arrival, whenever it's cooked. Slightly nervous about dh spending Friday night and Saturday (due date!!) away at wedding, but will keep fingers crossed that nothing happens by then. And it can't happen tomorrow as I think it's our builders' last day here finishing the utility room and loo in the cellar. So...Weds to Friday am would be OK; otherwise after Saturday. Just hope it's listening

diane77 · 29/08/2005 20:59

hi all

thanks for all the messages of support, its been quite a hard day, I got all the way to the labour suite before they scanned me so stress levels were through the roof.
