Hi all

DF If you don't want to be induced, you don't have to be. They can't force you to be induced. I'm not saying absolutely refuse - but it is within your rights to do so. If you refuse they have to offer daily monitoring to be sure the placenta isn't failing. I refused induction with DS. THe one thing to bear in mind is that you WILL worry and stress until you go into labour, and the medical staff will pressure you in horrible ways to accept induction.

Girls, I went yesterday bra shopping and was surprised to get nice bras for 50% off in couple of shops in Westfield. I am so feeling better now with my bras.

Strix I have never even considered wires as uncomfortable. I don't notice them but then I don't find G-Tongs and very high heels uncomfy too. I believe if you buy them all in right size they are comfy. I run in my high heels. Lol... Today I have my 5 inch zebra shoes on and 3 people at work told me that I need to switch to flat and I am letting the comments go down my shoulder.

Maternity Clothes: why on earth are these things made so ugly???? It is as if moms have no desire to look feminine after being pregnant! There are so many flair cute dresses that they could design as maternal clothes. What are these t-shirts and ugly ugly dresses in black and dull colours? I asked the shop lady yesterday if she has a selection of nice colours and other models and she snobed me and said "not in maternity section". I felt like shouting I AM NOT DEAD - I AM PREGNANT AND STILL WAY CUTER THAN YOU!!! but I just smiled and left the shop. Appaling! I am refusing to wear these things and instead bought cute outfits 1 size bigger. They don't look right but anything looks better than those maternity clothes!!

SlightlyTired · 30/06/2010 15:31

It's true that it can be tough to find nice maternity clothes without spending a fortune. Having said that I just bought a nice dress for work on wondermummy.com, for a stupidly small amount of money. Their range is tiny but they seem to have an awesome sale on - worth a look.

squistle · 30/06/2010 15:49

Lavitabella Well I'll have to wait to see what will happen. Remember I'm not in the UK so I have no idea!

I wish fat face made maternity clothes! I love there stuff but it only goes up to a size 18 for not pregnant people..... its not fair!

SlightlyTired · 30/06/2010 16:36

Oh, Seraphine also has a very good summer sale on, girls.

OnlyWantsOne · 30/06/2010 17:02

18 weeks today [dances like a loon]

CherylAnnTweedy · 30/06/2010 17:09

Oh I love maternity clothes! I have some lovely lovely stuff. Well I think it is anyway! Some nice summer dresses, floaty tops, mostly New Look & Pumpkin Patch.

DuelingFanjo · 30/06/2010 17:55

We got the call from the hospital, or rather my DH did, and it's all fine according to the initial tests. Am so relieved and so glad they got back to us so quickly.

I was in the Asda car-park when my DH called me so immediately went to buy some nipple cream and sleep-suits . Up until now I have been too scared to buy anything except for non-bo washing powder incase there was something seriously wrong.

Many many many thanks to everyone for listening to me whn I was moaning and stressing out. I feel like I can properly celebrate now.

Lavitabella · 30/06/2010 18:02

Congrats DF So glad it's good news for you, I would of been doing a dance in the car park!

DuelingFanjo · 30/06/2010 18:15

thank you. My Dh called me with the news and my response was 'are you sure?'
ha ha. As if he would make something like that up. I'd spent a lovely aafternoon with my mum talking about babies and trying not to think about the worst case scenario so it was so brilliant to be able to call her and let her know it was all ok.

OnlyWantsOne · 30/06/2010 18:22

are DF thats fantastic

CherylAnnTweedy · 30/06/2010 18:28

Fantastic news DF.

Strix · 30/06/2010 18:41

Yippee, DF.

I know EXACTLY how you feel.

WalkTheDog · 30/06/2010 18:49

good news DF

posted this on jan thread, but also here, just incase anyone else getting this:
I have a new symptom to add to pg list. For the last few weeks I've had episodes of choking on my own saliva. It happened today again, luckily I was parked, and it was a really bad one. Had a look on the net, and have found that is acutally "normal" in pg due to increased saliva. If anyone gets it, it's suggested you look up to open airway more, and also not to panic - ha, hard to do when you think you are choking

emmaxmas · 30/06/2010 19:00

Fab news DF - really happy for you. Happy celebrating!

maxpower · 30/06/2010 19:57

congratulations DF

Chooster · 30/06/2010 20:18

Woo hoo!!! great news DF!!! . Enjoy every relaxing moment from now on

OnlyWantsOne · 01/07/2010 07:47

Hey all, hope everyone is wearing lots of sun cream!!

I wear factor 15 on my face everyday (itsin my moisturiser) but Ive still developed a darker patch of skin on my side of my cheek below my eye... grrr

18 + 1 and apparently my uterus is the size of a cantaloupe mellon

have a good day x

Strix · 01/07/2010 08:45

Mornin! Hope everyone is well. My fever a few days ago triggered a bloody migraine, which is now gone and so I am one happy clam.

Speaking of the fever, as it came on 3 days after the VS, the doc at FMC thought it was possible but unlikely to have been caused by the CVS. Also because I had none of the usual symptoms of infection (pain in lower abdoman, bleeding, discharge, clear fluid - apologies for TMI). So, possibly I just picked up a virus. Either way, I'm taking no chances and shall complete my course of ABs. But, I'm feeling all better and am back at work now.

I have been breaking the news to people. It seems so werid saying it now because I kept it secret for so long. I told our nanny (live-in) last night. It was kind of sad because I had to tell her the job will end when I go on mat. leave. We love this nanny. And we will miss her dearly. But, needs must. I certainly can't pay a nanny whilst I am not being paid. But, it's good to have it all out in the open. And, to be fair, I think she is about ready to move on from a life of nannying so perhaps the timing is not so bad.

Tonight, DH and I are ging to tell DD and DS. DD (7) will be positively thrilled. DS will probably not really care.

And that's all of my news for today.

japhrimel · 01/07/2010 09:40

DF - brilliant news!

WalkTheDog - I'm getting that too! Unfortunately it's making me gag and retch.

Strix - glad you're feeling better.

I went and tried out (and ending up joining) a Nuffield Health Club near us yesterday. The pool was lovely, so relaxing and I coped fine when it was low stress and I could alternate between swimming positions and walking as the pool was level. I'm hoping to end up going most days, especially as they have loads of classes I can do for no extra fee, but I woke up knackered this morning after all the exercise yesterday so may give today a miss. Feeling so much happier though - I'm hoping that going there will help with my anxiety/depression too as I came out feeling great mentally as well as physically.

Is anyone else who's on their first feeling the baby quite a bit now? I'm getting fluttery feelings and as they can be triggered by a very cold drink or me prodding my belly, pretty sure it's babba. She seemed to like the swim yesterday (or more probably my reduced stress levels).

emma2617 · 01/07/2010 10:50

Good Morning ladies! Another quick one from me, ante-natal depression was confirmed the other day and I was given a prescription for anti-depressants, I am just so angry all the time, doctor said something which I have never though about before but makes so much sense! The reason you get angry/frustrated when you are depressed is because you know you aren't right, you don't want to feel that way but you just can't snap out of it. Together with DPs redundancy, my dodgy gall bladder, pregnancy and a 24hr bug yesterday I don't feel too cracking.

slightly I saw something you said which has been worrying me the last day or so, the heavy feeling in your pelvic floor, I had convinced myself it was something horrendous! Just feels a bit like it used to when DS used to boot me in that area, but obviously smudge is too small to be doing that!

SlightlyTired · 01/07/2010 10:56

emma,I am glad you've got some help with the way you're feeling. Hopefully you'll feel a difference soon.

Do you mean that you also get the heavy feeling in the pelvic floor? It almost feels bruised some days. Yesterday was particularly bad but today is OK.

emma2617 · 01/07/2010 11:00

Yeah, like I have something really heavy resting on it, best way I can describe it is like I am carrying a huge melon using only my pelvic floor!!!! Gets quite painful sometimes, which is when I get the sharp shooting type pain, then back to heavy feeling!

OnlyWantsOne · 01/07/2010 11:08

I get that toooooo!!!!

SlightlyTired · 01/07/2010 11:37

Phew! Thanks guys. I'm a little concerned that if it feels like this now, it is going to be out of control when bubs is bigger! Must...do...more...exercises!!!
