Right, I've done the honours. This is our new thread.

And don't forget the stats thread

Lavitabella · 28/06/2010 19:37

Chooster & Duelling good luck for tomorrow

Persnickety I am new to mumsnet so didn't know your old name but I like Persnickety keep it!

WWSB My notes said to book a GP appointment for 16 weeks, depends on your area though.

CrazyKat Sorry to hear about your headaches, I don't normally get them but I've been having them mildly all pregnancy. Thought it was just dehydration but drinking water doesn't ease it, just makes me want to go the loo even more!

Queenofdreams at the hospital stay, hope you are feeling better.

PJen Actually cried with laughter when I just read your post - so funny.

Slightlytired Agree with you on the matching underwear!

NickiSue · 28/06/2010 19:54

Persnickety Woo hoo! Thats a big hurdle ovr with. I hope the GP visit was reassuring too.

DF Good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Aimee Have been following your story- I know you have a long way to go until sorted but just wanted to wish you luck and say *hope you don't take this the wrong way!) that you seem to have your head very well screwed on for your age, and seem to be considering everything carefully despite the worries etc.
As for everyone else- HELLO! Have read everything else but have a complete blank mind so if I have missed a congrats or hug

Lovely day today for me, its our 7th wedding anniversary today and hubby is at home until Thursday so have had a lovely day. I'm 17 weeks on Wednesday (so quick!) and am HUGE! Lovely great baby bump lol. Not great in this heat but lovely all the same, especially as baby is fluttering around a lot and I'm getting the odd "popping" kick lol.

Hope everyone is coping with the heat and otherwise doing well x

WalkTheDog · 28/06/2010 20:40

Ok too fast moving for my brain!

Overall, good luck with scans/tests tomorrow and glad results came back well.

Aimee glad your back on the thread. Happy you are getting things sorted that are what you want, even if things aren't going well with family/boyfriend. OH sis had a similar experience at 17, she now has an 18yr old at uni, married to a guy who she got together with when baby 3mths old, real dad only recently appeared back on scene (once he'd had another kid), and is finally giving a little financial support.

crazykat I've been getting some bad headaches, also find best thing is to lie down somewhere dark, but like Lavitabella with the hotter weather, I need to really up my fluid intake. A friend said that vicks nasal block worked well for her headaches.

maxpower · 28/06/2010 20:41

Thanks notso I did have today off and feel a little bit better for it.

Congratulations on your results persnickety/strix hope the ab's sort you out so you can get on and enjoy your pregnancy now.

DF chooster good luck for tomorrow

Pjen lol at your indecent exposure!

aimee you sound like you're coping brilliantly.

I want more of a bump! With DD, there were people at work who geniunely had no idea I was pg until I was over 6 months because I had nothing to show for my trouble. I was really hoping I'd expand more quickly this time round. Friend at work who's about 16 weeks with her first has already got a bump. We're about the same size normally so I'm going to be very jealous!

Toying with the idea of staying off work tomorrow (I don't work Weds) with the hope that by the time I go back my cold will have gone completely.

JodieO · 28/06/2010 21:17

Well, had ecg this morning which went well, I have to keep my drs appt for Friday so he'll sort out some iron and injections I think. Then had consultant appt at the hospital this afternoon where I asked about nuchal as I haven't had a letter yet. They lost the bloods they took last time so I had to have more taken today...and I hate blood tests All the worry again now while we wait for results again too.

Had to go back to the hospital after school pick up with ds1 as he hurt his toe and thought it might be broken, they x-rayed and thankfully it wasn't, just badly sprained.

I'm still losing loads of weight, I think it might be the stress, I'm under so much right now constantly that I'm finding it extremely difficult. My head is full all the time....

Sorry to be such a downer still, hopefully will perk up once I know what's going on, so worried about the court hearing in August though as you never know which way it'll go even with abuse in the picture.

I think I'll stay away for a while if I keep feeling like this as I don't want to bring everyone else down

WhatWillSantaBring · 28/06/2010 21:21

Rather die than wear an underwire Strix - each to their own, but that's a bit extreme!!

Finally hoping to get some maternity clothes tomorrow as I've got to go to a meeting in another city which actually has shops! I was going to shop on JoJo MB tonight but the server is down - I wonder if that is trying to tell me something (like don't go crazy on shopping at 14 weeks).

WhatWillSantaBring · 28/06/2010 21:25

Sorry JodieO - don't stay away on our account. If you can't offload here, then where can you? Very sorry to hear how awful things are. Have you tried writing everything you're feeling down, on paper? Its what i do when my "head is full" and it really helps me get my thoughts organised, which then frees up some space in there for happy thoughts to get in. It actually really saved me at one stage when i'd got back into the self-harming thing (thankfully now six years or so ago).

notso · 28/06/2010 21:30

Jodie please don't feel you should stay away, I think we've all had rough patches, I know I've been a right misery at times. Seriously though, keep posting and I really hope everything goes your way.

Lavitabella · 28/06/2010 22:13

Jodie I agree please stick around. If you are worried about your weight but feeling off food, make sure you are trying to eat something. When I was feeling super sick, I kept drinking Mars milkshake which is quite high in calories.

Hope you feel better soon, keep positive about the court case. It's going to be a tough time but you will get through it and you have support here.

DuelingFanjo · 29/06/2010 08:29

Jodie I hope you don't feel like you have to go, there's so much support here.

MrsSnaplegs · 29/06/2010 09:00

whatwillsantabring - half right my hubby is the "service widower"!! I am serving hence why I have had to move and he has had to stay in old SFA until they find us something here!! We are completely role reversed, I work FT and am the breadwinner and he is a FT house-husband and looks after our DD (4)
Hoping to hear this week if they have been able to allocate us somewhere yet but not holding my breath.

aimee - I repeat what many others have said, you are a strong brave woman who is doing really well by the sound sof it. There are many of us on here who are in more stable situations who will I am sur ehelp in any way we can - even ifit is just moral support on here. If you need us please ask!?!
persnickty/strix didn't know you before you became persnickty but still like you

to all with scans, appts or check ups today - good luck

jodie Don't go - this place is all about support and hopefully we can help with that. Is there anything you feel able to eat at the moment? I have only just started to put some weight on after having lost nearly a stone through sickness. I am 16+4 today and now look a bt like a stick with a blob on it. I have sticking out ribs and boney elbows etc again but a huge belly - most people are very surprised when I say I am only 16 weeks. I only started to be able to eat again without feeling sick about 2 weeks ago. I found i was anaemic as well and started to take a pregnancy multivitamin - made me feel loads better.
pjen I am currently wearing knicks my mother bought me - they are definately not the sort of thing i wold ever normally wear and I pray i don't get run over by a bus as it would be truly embarrassing for anyone to see them but they are comfy!! M&S stretchy short style ones - 3 for a £10 supposedly. She did manage to get me a pair in leopard print as well - why she thought I would ever want ones in that I have no idea as not my thing - but under work clothes no one is going to see them!

anyway better try to do some work today - this job much quieter than my last which is a bit demotivating!! Need to be busy to keep busy!!

Have a good day and see you all later!

Mrs S

emma2617 · 29/06/2010 10:08

Morning Ladies! Just another quick entrance with some excuses for my poor effort but I am worried I might be getting ante-natal depression. I am at the docs tonight to see what he says, watch this space.

DuelingFanjo · 29/06/2010 10:44

Back from the Amnio. It all went well and I should get the results this week. I decided not to look but DH was very brave (for him) and watched it all on the screen. They say the baby was well away from the needle and that the fluid was plentiful and clear so there should be no problem with testing the sample.

Just this one hurdle to get over and then I will feel like I can relax. So glad that the consultant I had was the same one who would have charged me £400 for a private amnio and who only has a 1/300 miscarriage rate.

SlightlyTired · 29/06/2010 11:01

DF, that sounds like it went really well. Best of luck for your results - I have all fingers and toes crossed for you.

Jodie - don't go - and don't think about bringing us down - this is why we all come here - to give and receive support. Although there is absolutely no doubt that you are having a completely stressful time at the moment, I am sure that you will feel better and more able to face things once you get your health sorted out - and it sounds like you are doing all the right things there.

MrsSnapLegs - I know the knickers you mean - I wore them throughout last pregnancy and they are sooo comfy. I must pop out and get some more, actually...

Emma, glad you're going to the docs. There's a lot of help out there available. Good luck.

OnlyWantsOne · 29/06/2010 11:06

Hey all - can some one give me a quick de brief about whats been going on?

This thread moves fast!

cant believe im 18 weeks tomorrow, seems like 2 weeks ago since I asked on here if any one else was PG due in December

Ladies, when you lay down, do you have a bump? Im flat tummied...

japhrimel · 29/06/2010 11:07

Lavitabella - if you think your headaches might be caused by dehydration, try drinking Gatorade, not water. It could be your electrolytes getting out of balance and if so, plain water won't help and will just go straight through you.

emma2617 - hope you feel better soon or get some help. I've had patches of feeling really down, but they pass so I don't think it's proper antenatal depression yet.

Is anyone else getting really stressed though?

Last night we tried going swimming at the public pool and it was a disaster. It didn't help that I got really stressed at the state of the changing rooms (old chewing gum on walls and floor of changing cubicle, ladies showers out of use, cracked tiles everywhere, etc) so I was stressed before I even got in the pool. But then first it felt really cold and my bump got tight and I felt sick so had to get out for a bit. And then when I got back in and tried to swim, I found I don't know how to swim when pregnant! I wrenched a shoulder trying breast-stroke arms, did breast-stroke legs without thinking which hurt the SPD and when I tried going on my back I couldn't do back-stroke arms and kept getting splashed by everyone and choked. Then I got out of my depth (hadn't thought that the pool wouldn't be at one level like I'm used to!) and panicked because I didn't know how to swim properly anymore it seems. Plus I was freezing and shivering. I got out and promptly burst into tears!

Definitely not coping atm. I was so upset as I'd been looking forward to it so much!

japhrimel · 29/06/2010 11:15

Forgot to say...I'm also super stressed by my brother-in-laws wedding which is coming up.

It's a 30 minute drive to the church and there's no loo there! The nearest loo is a 5 minute drive away in a pub.

I'm also panicking that I'm not going to cope with my SPD if the chairs aren't very comfy. We've been warned by my MIL that the church is uncomfortable so I'll take a cushion, but even so it'll be a long long day.

And I don't know what or when we'll be eating. Apparently it's some kind of tapas-thing. I know they've considered vegetarians, but I'm not sure whether they've considered someone who's pregnant AND doesn't eat meat. I'm going to take some snacks as I need to eat every couple of hours but am still stressed about it. I can hardly start eating a sandwich!

Plus we might have to take the dog to my in-laws for that weekend as I'm not sure my parents can have him or we can take him there and pick him up (they live an hours drive and an hours ferry trip in the opposite direction to the wedding!). It'll mean someone (probably me) needing to leave the wedding at some point to drive back to the in-laws to feed him and let him out.

I'm so stressed about it! AIBU or just pregnant?

DuelingFanjo · 29/06/2010 11:22

onlywantsone I've been away so can't do a round up but I don't have a bump when I lie down (16 +2) only when I stand up. I spent 5 days at Glastonbury trying to make my bump look obvious in an attempt to get people to move out of my way but whenever I sat down it just looked like flab

Japhrimel sounds like you feel very anxious. I always try to keep in mind that things probably won't be as bad as I think they will be once I get there. will there be a loo at the reception?

SlightlyTired · 29/06/2010 11:33

OWO I'm pretty much flat tummied when I lay down too. I think my bump is kind of small actually. Trying not to worry about it - I guess I should be counting my blessings that I'm a nice size in this heat - I would NOT want to be heavily pregnant right now.

Japhrimel - re your pool experience - weird stuff stresses you out when you're pregnant. I remember a close friend of mine being utterly inconsolable when the cot she ordered was not quite the shade of wood she had expected. On the wedding point - IMO you can start eating a sandwich so don't stress about that - pack some snacks, pack a cushion, if you need to go to the loo then make your excuses and leave - and just try and enjoy the day. (And you can always have a pee break at the same time as the dog!) Just make sure you've got all the supplies you might need and then maybe try and sit back and let it all happen - there's not much point trying to plan it all out to the nth degree now - you'll just end up stressing yourself out more if something small doesn't go according to plan.

crazykat · 29/06/2010 11:47

strix that's great news on the cvs results.

aimee I know from experience how hard it is to get HA housing. My family were great but with me,DH and two DC's sharing a room in their house I was going nuts with all the rguments coz of not enough space. My midwife told me about a mother and baby hostel which is a lot better than normal ones. I don't know if you have to have the baby first but it might be worth asking your midwife about. Connexions might be able to help as well.

I wish I had a nice bump. I just look like I need to go on a diet.

Strix · 29/06/2010 12:03

okay, so perhaps would not rather die than wear an underwire. That was a bit harsh. But, I think underwires are the most uncomfortable thing invented. Can't really work out why anyone would prefer them. What am I missing?

DF, glad the amnio went well. I didn't look either. I knew I needed to lie still and I was afraid if I looked I might freak out and jump and that would definitely have been bad. DH watched though, so I quized him later.

Well, I'm back to being miserable. This feve and headache are no fun. But, worse than no fun they are very worrying in terms of possbile miscarriage. But, I don't have any pain in the abdominal area, no blood, liquid, discharge, so that's all good. Just wish my ABs would hurry up and kick this infection so I can feel better and stop worry about the baby.

maxpower · 29/06/2010 13:03

DF glad it went ok.

Strix abs normally take effect quickly, I'm sure you'll notice the difference by this evening.

I've stayed at home today as well. In the end, I decided that I've always rushed back to work when I've been off sick but this time, I'll make sure I'm better beforehand. I've been carrying the office for the best part of a year - if they can't manage without me for 2 days then god help them!

emmaxmas · 29/06/2010 13:13

Hello

Just a quick message from me as a bit short of time.

Strix so happy for you with your results- what a relief. Do hope your AB's kick in soon and you feel much better. Would also be keen to meet up.

Jodie PLEASE stick around. We are here to support you- you're not bringing things down.

DF keeping my fingers crossed for good results for you.

Will write more later x

Strix · 29/06/2010 13:54

Oh, Jodie, I am sorry I missed your post. Please don't stay from this thread. We are here to helo you and would never consider your need to talk a burden.

I mean really, how long have I been banging on about nuchal this and cvs that. Surely if they can put up with me, then you are welcome.

Hope you feel better soon.

Chooster · 29/06/2010 14:37

Hi, very pleased it went well DF - you must be relieved its all over and the results will come in fast. Fingers crossed for you! .

I went to the hospital and was scanned but the consultant said my placenta is at the front and there wasn't enough space to go round it and they didn't want to go through it so I have to go back again. Even though I wasn't looking forward to it I was really disappointed it couldn't be done today. Next week we are at Centreparcs and although they could squeeze me in on the Monday morning at 8.30am I'm not going to be able to put my feet up and relax at all because I'll be trying to contain and entertain 2 excited DS's.... DH can't get there until Tuesday night so there's no chance of any help. So, I guess it will have to be the following week when I'll be almost 20 weeks. . All this was exactly what I wanted to avoid having had bad news late in a previous pregnancy. Its now making me doubt if an amnio is the right thing to do... Problem is the more I think about it and the more I look on the internet the more confused I become.

Jodie - Hope you come back soon - life sounds so hard for you at the moment, but if you can concentrate on your health first then you'll be stronger to tackle the rest.

Japhrimel - Its easy to become over-whelmed but basic things when you're pregnant. Am sure the wedding will go fine .
