morning all, been cleaning the living room this morning with DSs help he saw me getting a polish wipe out of the packet, and using it to clean the tv, so he decided he wanted to join in, so got himself a wipe and has been wiping down things, bless him. when i took it off him he screamed

hes off to his dads this afternoon, seen as its fathers day and his bday, then im hoping to go to see my dad, depending what time they get back from scotland at, and when DS is back.
hope everyone is having great days

STT think i prefer the choc/pink myself. was a tough choce but ye i would go for tht one.

essenceofSES · 20/06/2010 10:56

Morning!!
Happy birthday to all the daddies out there!!
We're doing a BBQ this afternoon and my parents are coming so I've come to Tesco to buy bits. DS asleep in car so I thought I'd sit and MN for a bit before going in!

Star - (just to be different!) I really like the charcoal/purple one.
Pain about your glasses. Would they be covered on house insurance?

Hello tink, MMM and anyone else. DS waking up so bang goes my MN time and here comes Tesco!!
Catch you all later

Rugbylovingmum · 20/06/2010 17:09

Hi all,

we've been off shopping for a new bike (for me) and a childs carrier. Got the seat and the bike is ordered but I'm confused by helmets. The smallest one Halfords had was way too big for DD - the salesman suggested we try a specialist bike shop but also said that helmets aren't really recommended for under 1's as their neck muscles aren't strong enough. The seat says from 9months/9kg so are we supposed to put her on without the helmet until then? Doesn't seem safe to me . Any words of wisdom Diege???

Star - I prefer the charcoal/purple one but both are nice. What a pain about your glasses.

Tink - love the new glasses.

Ses - hope you had good weather and a lovely BBQ.

MMM - hope you get to see your dad, have a lovely day.

allshoppedout · 20/06/2010 21:41

evening rugby bike sounds good. not sure about helmets dd1 is 4.5 years she is small for her age her helmet was from nct sale has an adjustable ring inside @ the back.

Rugbylovingmum · 21/06/2010 06:34

Morning all,

I'm after more advice please. DD has woken up with a rotten cough this morning - poor little girl's nose is still running like a tap but now she looks flushed and has this cough. Is there anything I can give her to soothe her throat a bit - it sounds a bit raw and she is trying not to cough and crying when she does (although I have put Waybuloo on for her this morning and she is entranced and doesn't seem to notice the cough ).

I feel dreadful this morning too - all hot and achy with a headache. It's sods law we will both be poorly when I am back at work tomorrow.

GiraffeYoga · 21/06/2010 07:57

Morning ladies

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Sorry about the glasses star - I will be keeping an eye on the SG now... she is always after mine!

Rugby- not sure about the cough. I tend to let DD get on with it with a cold. If she is in pain with her throat some calpol might ease that. I know I take paracetmol with a sore throat if its bad.

Re CPox- Im assuming it isnt as it hasnt developed fast enough, but its unclear what it is. She now how has red spots on her face around her nose and mouth area. They are quite big and red. Nothing on her feet so hoping we are clear there.
Its not heat rash as she gets that on her back a lot, and this is quite different to that. Im waiting to hear what it looks like this morning from DH.

Sorry- sound like neurotic mother always mentioning SG and illness. Its never ending at the moment. Its like starting nursery all over again with the number of bugs we've all had

Better run - lots to do today.

Moosy · 21/06/2010 09:42

GYo, chicken pox spots look like little clear/yellow fluid filled bubbles which then crust over with a yellowy scab. If it's not that, it may be worth a trip to the dr just to check if it's something contagious so you know if she can ro can't go to nursery?

Rugby, I've been told by nurses that calpol's one of the best things for coughs and sore throats, especially now the rules for cough medicine seem to have changed and they don't make it for tinies anymore (Ses please correct me if I'm wrong!). I use calpol and neurofen and they both seem to help. Hope you recover quickly and you're both well for your start back at work.

Moosy · 21/06/2010 09:44

Forgot to say, we've set a date for moving in to the barn at last! The 6th of August is our deadline, (no particular reason except that's 8 weeks after the floor screed was poured and you're supposed to leave it 8 weeks before laying flooring). We had a viewing at our house yesterday, so hopefully that will come to something, we really need the money!

allshoppedout · 21/06/2010 09:48

morning

yah moosy for barn date

rugby poor dd

off for a walk inthe sun

Diege · 21/06/2010 09:49

Morning! Just a quick one - the wagon must be harbouring bugs as dd1 has woken up very poorly and distraught at missing her shcool trip today
STAR, I prefer the purple buggy too! My maclaren has arrived, and is great, though not sure about the 'sunshade' - do you just undo the velcro that holds the hood on and tip forward? . If so, ds having lots of fun with that not too bothered by the window in hood(though does seem nuts - much better to have a small one on top of hood so that you can actually see them when its up I would have thought...) as ds still managed a snooze- the novelty of being able to lie down in a buggy I think!
RUGBY, I'm going to recommend Mediced re: the cough. It's pretty hard core stuff (though is for kids so not pushing weird stuff). It will open the airways and help with her congestion, plus she will sleep and hopefully feel better for the rest (you too).I think you have to promise faithfully to pharmacist that you won't give it to her for more than 3 days, but it's what my hv uses for her own LOs - I suppose it's as codeine is to pracetemol if that makes sense? On bike hat,we've just put dd3's one on ds . I think it doesn't matter if it's a little big as they are adjustable and the chin straps very sturdy. Haven;t heard that about them not recommended, although it doesn't surprise me that that's Halford's line(not exactly known for their 'tolerance' on anything cycling ). Maybe ask at bike shop if you're worried? I'm, sure someone will have invengted one for the under 1's - must be a huge market! Or if not, try a few 12mth ones on perhaps and see how you feel?
GIRAFFE, not sure about the spots. I know dd1 was diagnosed with CP from just 3 spots on her tummy (never developed more) but then dd3 and dd21 had it at same time. I know hand foot and mouth starts a bit like that, but does spread to soles of feet so keep an eye.Worth ringing NHS direct/popping to Gps maybe? (just for peace of mind).
SES, hope BBQ went well - you had the weather for it if anything like it was here!
TINKS, lovely glasses - must be nice to treat yourself for a change
Big day here - WIMBLEDON!!!!!! - RAFA RETURNS TO THE WAGON!!!!!!!!!!

bumpsnowjustplump · 21/06/2010 09:59

Hi Diege - how is DD1 now? hope it doesnt spread to the others...

Spotgage update- DD now has more spots.... nursery just called and so DH is taking her to the doctors..... I still dont think they sound like the pox....no blisters as far as I know but who knows...... We are flying on thursday so please can everyone keep their fingers crossed its not contagious.....

essenceofSES · 21/06/2010 17:06

V quick post from me. Logged on to moan about O being ill with suspected hand, foot & mouth. First time I'm away and he's ill
DH taking him to GP later.
Giraffe - does sound similar to SG's symptoms. May be worth getting her checked. Hope whatever it is it clears quickly and you get to enjoy your hols.

Rugby - I'd stick with the calpol/ibuprofen combo. Hope she has a better night and that tomorrow goes well.

Not easy this sick DC thing is it?! I just feel so guilty that I'm not there and DH is probably going to have a rotten night.

Moosy - great to have a date for moving into the barn

Hello everyone else. Really sorry not to namecheck more. Have to get ready for next bit of conference...

cantmummyhaveabreak · 21/06/2010 17:45

Ses- hope all is ok with O.

Bump- read thread but you've had some fab advise so didn't feel I could add to it. Hope GP goes ok.

Diege- should I getyself onto the FB wagon? All still on for sat? MMM can't make it, so just me and my brood!

TINKS M has the mega blocks keyboard, and loves it, but also loves his other just as much, so really cant say which id go for tbh. hope you decide soon.

bumpsnowjustplump · 21/06/2010 21:12

I just wanted to give you all an update. DS has an infection in both ears. The doctor said that he thinks this coupled with his teeth are what caused the problems last night.

He wants me to go back in three weeks to see if things have improved, but he is happy that this was what has caused it...

I really hope he is right....

Giraffe what did the dr say?

Ses poor you, try not to feel guilty about being away he wont remember it and it isn't serious he will be right as rain soon xxxx

maxxymoosmummy · 21/06/2010 21:30
