On charting....

I used to find that the Fahrenheit thermometers were easier to interpret and gave a more noticeable shift when O had occurred.

Just a thought.....

Diege · 23/08/2010 12:37

Right SORKY,I will investigate this link-age business asap Grin. As I can't do generic links though, it may take me a while...Oh and no, you don't sound selfish at all re: the house; it's what works best for your set-up. We are on a budget as the hosue we moved to is expensive, but for us the extra space is worth it. Plus I can squirral a way bit from my wage every month to satiate my shopaholicism.

sorky · 23/08/2010 12:41

yes, it's the squirrelling away that I mean.

I think it would drive me to distraction not to "do what I like"

It's been a hard decision tbh, but the fact that I wouldn't be indulging in Myla anytime soon would break me I think Blush

Diege · 23/08/2010 12:52

Grin agree, you would be thoroughly miserable.
Now I have an O' level in Maths, and also scraped yr. one stats at uni that I needed for my sociology degree. So this is Blush. What is a shift of 'at least 0.4 degrees??? Is it say from 36.5 to 36.9, or 36.5 to 40.5??? Blush

Diege · 23/08/2010 12:57

Arghh, 0.4 relates to fahrenheit doesn't it?? (assuming the 30's is celcius) so that means (according to ff) that 0.2 shift is usual at celcius after ov? (so looking at my last 2 figures, what 'degree' of a shift is 36.44 to 36.58? Blush

sorky · 23/08/2010 13:14

eh? Confused

hang on a minute I'll look

sorky · 23/08/2010 13:20

I don't think it matters tbh Diege.

You look at the last 6 temps, and draw a coverline 0.1 degree above them.

If the next temp is 0.2 above that line, then it's a significant thermal shift and you've likely O'd.

(you don't count temps when you're ill, have had a decent drink or during menstruation, as these all lead to higher temps which are erroneous)

now, where that chart Grin

sorky · 23/08/2010 13:21

40.5 Shock

you'd be dead!!! Grin roflmao!!

sorky · 23/08/2010 13:22

not even I'd have a GOF with a temp of 40.5

teehee Grin

sorky · 23/08/2010 13:27

example:

Last 6 temps are

36.5
36.7
36.6
36.5
36.6
36.6

then you get a 37.3

you'd draw you a Coverline at 36.8 (0.1 higher than last 6 temps)

the 37.4 temp is 0.5 higher than the Coverline, which is enough to suggest the O has occurred.

However, it has to stay above the Coverline in order for you to confirm O.

O would have occurred the 12-24 before the high temp.

The days it stays higher are the dpo's and your LP.

Sometimes during implantation it can below the Coverline but it should go straight back up the next day.

Diege · 23/08/2010 13:55

Hee hee, well my cheeks were flushed during my last GOF Grin I think I've got it(and my chart at the moment is no way 'complete', only being on cd 13)..so 37.3 0.5 degrees higher than 36.8? (If so I've cracked it!, if not Confused

sorky · 23/08/2010 13:59

sounds good to me, hope it stays nice and high :)

GiraffeYoga · 23/08/2010 15:53

ooh this is all very interesting. I've always guaged ovulation off lots of EWCM (its very obvious for me) and I (think) thats what did it for the Small Giraffe - but who knows.

Thanks for asking Sorky- feeling much better now. :)

Going out with my NCT lot tonight. We've got 3 of 7 pregnant currently. Wonder if there will be another announcement tonight... the way things are going we will do... or the lady due this coming weekend will go into labour! There is something in the air!

Starshinetiger · 23/08/2010 16:19

Grrr... DD just lost my message for me.

In short - Congratulations Gruff! Very exciting. Grin

sorky · 23/08/2010 17:00

EWCM is a good indicator that O is approaching GYo, with the stretchiest stuff being produced closer to egg release.

Charting helps (in a healthy ovulating woman) to show that you have had the hormone shift needed for egg release.

For Dd2 I used charting my temp, with checking my cervical position, mucous and CB monitor (took no chances obviously)

Fertility Awareness Method, I think it's officially called. Slightly more technical than the Rhythm method Wink

I charted with Tink and Ses irrc....and cervically rummaged with Moosy, but that's a different story heehee

sorky · 23/08/2010 17:01

shagging lots is also very useful Grin

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/08/2010 17:05

GRUFF- you sneaky thing!! Drunken GOF??? sly sly one!! Congrats tho Grin.... my EDD is 27th April, normally a 28day cycle. How very strange that we go and get PG days apart for the second time!! I had a feeling i wouldn't be the only one for long tho!! :)

DH took me shopping and i've got some clothes that fit me. Also took us for chinese buffet lunch- i'm stuffed!! Got some travel bands- seem to be helping a bit since wearing them.

Diege- what sort of time were you wanting to meet at liverpool station? been looking at train times and would prefer to get a train where i dont need to change. can get there at either 10.02am or 11.02am, and will most likely get the 4.57pm home as that gets us back at 6.30pm. gonna be writing down platforms and times so i can't forget!! i dont mind getting either train there, takes us about 1.5hrs to get there and we can make it there for both times... earlier might be better for having more time to spend there, but if laterwas easier for you to get your lot ready that'd be fine too.

tinktellyaddict · 23/08/2010 17:05

Diege · 23/08/2010 17:24

Thanks TINKS, will have a look at your chart Smile
CANT, I'll have a look at my times and get back to you re: your train. Looking forward to it!
Well just done an opk and borderline pos (as opposed to sat and yesterday's strong positives, so assuming that I've had my surge? In previous cycles I've had not even a glimmer of second line after having had a pos previously, but will gof tomorrow and thurs anyway for good measure. Honestly,I don;t know how anyone actually manages to get pregnant at all!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/08/2010 17:28

Diege- when i did my OPK's (and got it right first mth) i got 2 lines over 2 days, one day was slightly stronger and thats when i'm almost certain i OV'd.

Diege- you'll be amazed at the size of my 'bump/belly' already!! i'm in maternity clothes today!! Shock tho i do remember showing really early with DD2, and was it your DH thought i looked about 6m pg when i was only 8wks?.. even crazier this time!!

sorky · 23/08/2010 17:28

ooh found mine

Tink I can't see yours

sorky · 23/08/2010 17:29

Tink can you remember that little site that had all the symptom spotting on, that we were addicted to? Grin

I can't seem to find it.

Diege · 23/08/2010 17:31

Grin I'm getting mine too, not either of yours Grin. Ooh it's magic!!!
SORKY could that site be 'pee on a stick'???

essenceofSES · 23/08/2010 20:38

Sorky - thank you so much! Your comment re you and Moosy rummaging together finally brought a much needed smile to my face Grin

Cant - Shock at you having a bump already!

Gruff - still Grin for you!

Diege - I wonder how anyone manages to get pg too! I'm thinking if nothing happens this month, I could try a combined Cant and Gruff method of drunken insemination?!

Currently CD9 and I'm set this cycle with temping, OPKs and ClearBlue Fertility Monitor. CM normally gives me a vague indication but I've never got to know my cervix very well Blush Any pointers on that one?!

Hello Star, Tink, Giraffe and everyone else!
