Hi Diege- things are good thanks. Am back at work, 1st day after 1.5wks off. Its painful as expected.

Excited about your symptom spotting. Did you have a good errr... "go" at it this... are we expecting a honk ?

Tink - I've got an iphone, its fab! I know lots of people with Blackberrys who love them too.

Diege · 05/07/2010 17:05

Hi GIRAFFE! First day nearly over now though (hopefully)! Agree, tis horrid going back after a break(weekends are bad enough!)
Re: goffing, well I am in somewhat of a dilemma. Yes, had a good 'go' ,and actually got a pos on my opk for the first time ever.Thing is,I have a horseriding day booked on Sat that I have been looking forward to going on for weeks. I used to ride as a teenager and worked at a stables, so very keen to get back into it all. Thing is,if I was pregnant then I'm not sure it would be the best thing (with chance of falling off and all). But then I may not even be pregnant and I can't live my life 'as pregnant' when there's only a small chance I may be.So plan is, to test first thing Friday with super sensitive test (this would give me notice to tell my friends, rather than them waiting outside house on sat am while I POAS). If it's a neg, then fine I can go (af due Monday) if pos (and it would only be a faint pos) then I'll have to make my excuses . Talk about tempting fate!
What would everyone else do? Should I just go, and wait till af late before testing?

Diege · 05/07/2010 17:05

Oh and TINKS your phone speak is incomprehensible to me - my phone is 6 years old off the shelves at ASDA

GiraffeYoga · 05/07/2010 18:20

Hmmm tricky one Diege. Think if it was me, I'd say wait and pretend I wasnt pregnant and carry on as normal. Whats the chances of you falling off? If its your first time back after a while you might not do anything too energetic, ie no galloping and jumping!! But then if you are worried you might not enjoy it....

Any other symptoms?

oh diege sounds interesting

i have just bought blackberry in violet

iphone looks cool but too expensive for me

Starshinetiger · 05/07/2010 20:21

Morning everyone. Sorry for all happening with your Mum and Dad Ses. Hope your Dad is on the mend now. Does all sound very odd. Must be very difficult for your Mum living with an alcoholic, but very hard for you and your brothers coping with her handling of it. Agree with Bump that she needs to find right avenue for support as it sounds like she has fallen into victim role instead. Very hard for you

nice to see you back GYo. Glad you had good hols.

Good to see you on here again too Bumps. Well done on your new job. Lol at needing to get takeaway when DP had DC for the day

thanks for good thoughts for last Thurs. Went well at GOSH. DD is actually holding some urine in her bladder which is great - apparently a very small % of bladder exstrophy girls will repair themselves so we have to see how she goes. Still down for surgery in autumnish, but will review her again when her date comes through. Downside is she is more exposed to infection because she is holding some urine in unprotected bladder so they have put her on antibiotic til her surgery. Ses if you're on sometime - she's on trimepothrin - it smells and tastes really strongly of aniseed and since starting it on thurs she's been a bit constipated, in discomfort and really disturbed at night - Sat night she had a fever of 40. Could Thisbe caused by abs? Will google whenI get a chance but she was disturbed all eve and night last night and network is down at work today.

Diege - bet you were happy with tennis over weekend! Did you get a chanceto sit down and enjoy?!

Starshinetiger · 05/07/2010 20:29

Sorry tried to post that this am and found it was still on my phone so thought I may as well send it.

essenceofSES · 05/07/2010 21:08

Busy day on here! Thanks for all the messages of support. I think I need to cut my muma bit of slack but she frustrates me so much I find it v hard!

Bumps - you were spot on. I can understand Mum feeling angry and wanting to offload but I wish she'd not offload on me! She does have plenty of friends she could pick up the phone too. He is my Dad and for all his faults and past hurts, I love him.

Update is that he's coming home tomorrow! They decided not to do an endoscopy and are treating it as a one off which we're all a bit about as goodness knows what's happening in his pickled stomach!
They've given him a walking frame and DH has been round tonight to move the spare single bed downstairs for him to sleep on.

Star - glad your DD's appointment went well. As far as Trimethoprim goes, yes it could cause those side effects - excpet for the temperature. It is the standard first line treatment / prevention for UTIs though. If she still has a temperature tomorrow, maybe see GP and if her temperature is fine, maybe give it a couple more days and if it doesn't settle down then go and see GP for an alternative.

Diege - difficult one! I think I'd go with your test Fri am idea and decide from that. Certainly don't put things on hold in the hope of pg (hard I know!)
Sounds like you're a bit snowed under with marking. Hope you get a break MN time every so often!

Nat - hi! Hope things are ok.

Hello tink, Giraffe and anyone else lurking!

Diege · 05/07/2010 21:13

Hi STAR! Sounds very positive on the health front - I have been in a similar position ( but very different too) with dd1 who had kidney reflux and was put on the same abs you mention from 6 weeks until 18mths when the reflux resolved. Same issue with urine in this case backing up into the bladder, with the posibility of urine infections and possible scarring. She tolerated it really well and from memory we didn't have the effects you mention (though it was nearly 9 years ago!). Hopefully SES can advise

Thanks for advice GIRAFFE. I am veering towards waiting until af is late before testing and just going on the ride anyway. I don't think riding per se is an issue, it's the falling off that's the problem I suppose and it is a gentle country hack rather than a cross country course. Would be a shame to miss especially as I've dug out my old jodphurs and boots that I can just about get into if I hold my breath and pull my ribs in .

Diege · 05/07/2010 21:18

Hi SES, x-posts! Glad to hear your dad is coming home, though undertanhd your concerns.Hope it doesn't create an overly stressful situation for you.
Thanks for the advice re: testing. At the moment I think I'll hold out, but how long that resolve will last is anyone's guess. Do you think the actual motion of riding a horse would cause problems? It is quite jerky/jolty but I suppose that wouldn't do any harm?

essenceofSES · 05/07/2010 21:20

Hi! I don't think riding itself should cause a problem. Go with your instincts and I know you'd regret putting off riding if AF arrived Sunday or Monday.

GruffaloSoldier · 05/07/2010 21:26

Hi all

sorry have been awol!

Just a quick post to say hi really

Ses - so sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope he recovers quickly!

Diege - I knew someone who rode until they were 16 weeks pg! I would probably go for it as I was thinking an early pregnancy is protected well by the pelvis??

Gy - glad you had good hols

Tink - well done on deciding on a phone - it is always a bit tricky.

Star - good news about DD's progress, hope the side affects subiside soon.

Bump - glad job is going good!

NJ - hope all ok. yes do feel free to offload on FB wagon

Hi to anyone I missed or lurking

GiraffeYoga · 06/07/2010 07:24

Afternoon! Inwork and waiting for dh to arriev to take me to lunch
Hi GIRAFFE - bet there's quite a lot in your 'in-tray' after your break away. Hope it's not too onerous.
GRUFF, that's reassuring about your horseriding friend. I don't think I'll be doing anything too ambitious, maybe a little canter, and am thinking I may well hold off testing until Monday. The chances of me being pregnant are slim, and I certainly don't want to be obsessing about any 'hold up to the light and squint' positives before I go. I have found a bag of e-bay cheapies though, so have 10 tests as opposed to the 2 I thought I had...
Hope everyone is ok - CANT if you are lurking I am going to e-mail you my address now so that your poor children can get those letters sent off

sorky · 06/07/2010 12:17

Hello you lovely lot

Thought I'd mooch over and see how you all are. I have firmly shackled myself to the front of the Wagon so as to have utterly NO CHANCE of falling off hahaha
Have there been any HONKS?

Very excited about the London meet I must say, all booked our end, so definitely be there.

Absolutely nothing to report, life is drifting along nicely sans drama, just the way I like it

God I've forgotten about lunch, be back after I've fed my lot

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/07/2010 13:17

Afternoon. Been busy so not got on much.

Diege- DS also now has a couple of doubles of his match attax cards since DH bought him 50 new cards at the weekend! He's also now got the collectors tin and have a deal with DS that he'll get a new pack each week if he's good. Oh my point was that DS is sending your DD1 his doubles.

Right gonna try get a nap as both DD's asleep and wasn't too good last few days so I'm exhausted. Hello to anyone lurking!

Starshinetiger · 06/07/2010 14:04

Hey Sorky - good to see you on here. I'm looking forward to meet up too, although possibly facing going into London 2 days running as I bought a double pushchair off ebay, which my sister collected and I now need to get off her, but her boyfriend's DB and SIL have invited themselves to stay that weekend, so we can't stay at hers overnight - grump! Ah well, am having next week off work, so won't feel as though have travelled so much. Gosh what a load of waffle - ignore that bit of my post.

Ses - thanks for that info. DD was a bit more settled last night, but no poo at all yesterday (sorry if tmi), but I only managed to get 1ml of the abs in - seriously, how are you supposed to get a 1yo to take aniseed flavoured abs?!!?! Will see how she goes for rest of the week, but if still stays so bad will go to GP (but she's been okay and bladder doing well, without taking them for a year, so may just consider taking her off them). She does have a 3rd premolar coming through at the mo and it's really taking it's time, so that could be causing all the discomfort and possibly the temp? Glad your DH is home and hope things go well.

Diege - think you've made right decision re. horse riding and testing. As you say, you're only going for a canter and you can't put your life on hold.

GYo - sorry for being back at work. Is very boo hoo!

Am I sad or what. Am sitting here plotting in my head a potential 3rd DC (but not planning on conceiving until next year) and plotting whether I would go back to work (prob not) and kind of evolving a 10 year plan!! - How we would manage financially and when I would go back to work, etc, etc. DH doesn't even want a 3rd DC!!! Can you tell I'm bored doing spreadsheets?

Hope you are all having good days!

sorky · 06/07/2010 14:17

Go for no.3 Starshinetiger, they're a joy, easiest of the lot!
Diege, are you testing?

Diege · 06/07/2010 14:18

STAR. that's funny about you and dc3 I was awake with dd3 from 2am to 6am last night (long story) and during that time I got myself into quite a panic about whether or not to buy over or under the bump maternity jeans On the meds front, when dd1 was a baby I just syringed it into her mouth, and later put into yogurts or juice. Agree the anised isn't especially palatable. Would that be an option perhaps?
SORKY great to hear from you! Also looking forward to London too - hotel booked and train tickets in the drawer. Ooh and you know what they say, those at the front of the wagon are the first to fall off... Has your dh had his bits done though?
CANT dd1 will be pleased about the match attax! I've sent you an e-mail with our addy details. Hope you get your rest!

Diege · 06/07/2010 14:18

Testing Monday if af hasn't shown up SORKY

sorky · 06/07/2010 14:21

Under bump every time

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you x

Were going to Legoland on the way back, never been before, hope they like it

Starshinetiger · 06/07/2010 14:23

See, I would go over the bump every time Diege, but think that you and Sorky are both slim-hipped ladies and that probably makes a big difference.

Oh, DC3 is just pie in the sky thinking at the moment. Think DH would take a lot of persuading, but hey ho, we'll see what the year brings.

sorky · 06/07/2010 14:31

Surely Seraphine ran out of jeans during your last pg Diege
Perhaps we should send emails to various shops warning them they could be hurtled out of recession.....Diege is ready!!

Sorry to hear LO's are poorly, hope it gets sorted soon x

GiraffeYoga · 06/07/2010 15:25

Hi

Great to see you Sorky and great you are coming to the meet up. Definately agree with Diege about those at the front falling off the wagon first

Star- wow I thought you set on sticking to 2 DCs! Hurray for more TTCing on the wagon... even if its not yet. Sorry to hear DD isnt taking her meds well. Agree about the syringe but they can still spit I suppose. I've every sympathy with your DD as I hated meds when I was little!

Diege- I had some great semi under bump jeans from GAP that looked great throughout and were fine for the first couple of weeeks post birth. Will try and find pic Well remembered Sorky about Diege's jeans fetish. What did you do with all those pairs?

Hi Cant

Ignore my upcoming witterings about TTC-

  • I've had some odd thoughts on this. Had an odd chat with DH on holiday whereby he more or less said we could go for it now if I wanted to - I was quite suprised that I felt a bit scared of it! The life alteringness again and the impact of going from 1 DD to to 2 DC.... (but then I was terrified of doing it the first time once I got my BFP!)

Up shot (no pun intended ) is that we will wait longer due to my work situation (6mths to a year) but right now, despite the fears etc, Im compelled to be pregnant. I cant get it out of my mind... All very weird what the female body does. I think it was because had we "had a good go" on holiday and succeeded - we would have had a 2year age gap practically to the day.... (Sad that I remember date of conception for DD

Sorry for my ramblings....as you were...

But the panel wasnt elastic on show but part of the waist band of the jeans.
