Thanks booboo, I know...it feels like it will matter massively to me how baby arrived but I suppose in the end it really won't.
By the way don't beat yourself up for not 'doing everything properly' either... cos I am 25, and have done everything possible for healthy pregnancy- raspberry leaf, natal hypnotherapy, pineapple, hot food, lots of walks, pelvic floor exercises and perineal massage...and look at me so it's not to do with your age or having time for stuff

hello all! soory for not posting in so long.

have tryied to keep up, and had a quick flick through. congratulations to all who have had their babies.

to all those overdue, i really feel for you but as someone was saying, were here till every last one of us has has our babies. regarding Sweeps, i had mine on the thursday after having pains all wednesday which died off, my miwife said i was a fingertip with cervix still posterior...booked me in for induction the following weeek, sent my mum back home, and i had her at 522 am the next morning...i did warn my mum the minute she left i would labour. hope fully it works for other too!

My friend had her baby yesterday, on due date and she was rushed to ICU as she wasnt breathing, must have been very scary, but she is stable now, so hopefully they will be home soon.

Florence was sent to hospital on friday night by midwife, as reflux was so bad she had only put on just under 1oz/20grams. we have been on the medication over the weekend and she has put on 5 oz, so looks like its working, she is stll being sick but not arching her back and screeming whilst feeding. we have a doctors appointment today to get refered and get more meds for her, although i do suspect that she has allergies like me and my son, and that this may be causeing some of the problem. does anyone have any experience of changing diet due to baby's allergies whilst breastfeeding???

mollycuddles- we dont ahve jealousy as such, but hes very protective of her and just wants to pick her up all the time, or kiss her, its my cousin who keeps asking when she is going back!

other than that life is just going on here, although im finding it hard being on my own with the two of them...usually as im sleep deprived and have no-one to watch Ds if i wanted to have a sleep in the day, but were coping.
hope everyone else is well and that more anouncements arrive soon. xx

Mummymunchkins · 01/06/2010 13:26

Hi all, haven't posted in absolutely ages but have been keeping up with your posts as much as possible by reading.

Just wanted to let you know I have had my baby boy, didn't quite make it into May as born exactly two weeks early on 29th April.

In fact didn't quite make it to the hospital either as urge to push came on very suddenly. He was born on route in car delivered by a paramedic but only just, nearly delivered by DH who had got out my hospital bag towels for me to lie on and to cover me up and the police also turned up before the ambulance and were getting gloves on and bag out ready to step in. I think they were as relieved to see the ambulance as me!

I realised on route that I wasn't going to make it to the hospital and we stopped and called the ambulance but they took about 20 minutes to arrive and that was the longest scariest 20 minutes of my life in fact i thought I had delivered his head before they arrived but it was my waters which didn't burst but came out still in their sac looking like a water balloon .

The paramedics covered the whole car in sheets and the police cordoned off one side of the street to give me privacy I just about had a couple of puffs of gas and air and then baby arrived. Apparently a crowd had gathered on the other side of the road and they cheered when the baby was lifted out of the car. A police woman sat in the front seat and she apparently cried when baby was born. I was not aware of any of this, just in a state of shock I think.

We were then taken to the hospital and we were both fine and just stayed in overnight and then went home and are doing good still v tired but starting to get a bit more sleep. He weighed 7lb 4oz and we have named him Zakariya Idris only just decided lot of arguing over the name!

Hope all whose babies have arrived are doing well and sorry to hear about your ordeal Hollyoaks. Hope remaining babies arrive soon. Will try to post more often now!

MoggMum · 01/06/2010 13:47

Just got back from scan & CTG. Baby fine but they have concerns re lack of waters surrounding baby so have to go in for Induction tonight

Midwife did perform another sweep but cervix still high so this baby has no intention of coming on its own.

No MLU/waterbirth for me then! Feeling upset but trying not to get too stressed.

cupcake hope all goes well for you this afternoon.

booboomonster · 01/06/2010 14:18

mummymunchkins thanks for birth story - sound amazing and terrifying, and made me cry. Congratulations on the birth of Zakariya, cool name!

cupcake thanks for reassurance - I know you are right but I just cant hep wondering if its something I've done that is delaying things! Good luck for later.

mogg sorry to hear about induction. At least you know you will be meeting your baby soon. Hope it goes well and is not too painful, do keep us posted. Good luck!

sweetkitty · 01/06/2010 14:30

moggmum - for you about the induction, mine was fine yours might be too, at least the end is in sight for you now, beautiful baby in your arms soon, you'll be fine.

mummymunchkins - wow what an amazing story!!!! congratulations

itshappened again - nice to hear from you, sorry about the suspected allegies no experience but ask on the BFing topic someone will have been through it.

I so could write Rachel and hobnobs posts, J is definitely my last baby and you all know how much I hate being pregnant yet I am overcome with sadness he is 4 weeks almost already and losing his newborn scrunched up look. Blooming hormones.

Had J weughed today 10lbs 6ozs so doing something right.

hollyoaks · 01/06/2010 14:43

Hi all

Trying to catch up, but its all going slowly, dh back to work today so first full day back at home with two girls is also my first day alone. However, dm been here since first thing and has just left.

So far so good, Grace is feeding every 2-4 hours (no routine yet, but only be feeding since Sunday) for about 15-20 mins, except at midnight last night which went on for 2 hours!!!

DD1 is probably finding adjusting to the change the hardest. She has her dummy in constantly and has become very clingy . Any clues how long that may last?

Mummymunchkins - scary birth story, glad all is well with your ds though.

Mogg - good luck for tonight

All those overdue, hope your not waiting too much longer, really feel for you all

Sorry if I've missed any birth announcements but congratulations if Ihave. Also, thankyou for all the hugely supportive messages we have received over the last few days. Hopefully we can put all of that stress behind us and look forward to a happy healthy future

mollycuddles · 01/06/2010 15:45

mogg sorry about induction but doesn't have to mean a non active normal delivery - I was induced with ds and it went pretty straightforwardly once we got going. I had Molly on CLU as they wouldn't let this heifer on MLU but was active normal delivery on hands and knees and very positive. Midwife bit of a twunt but that could happen anywhere! DH was my advocate and knew how I felt about interventions so I felt very supported. And you get your baby really soon - I almost envy you. There is nothing like meeting your newborn for the first time. I don't actually envy you as obviously your baby can't possibly be as gorgeous as Molly! Really looking forward to your announcement.

mollycuddles · 01/06/2010 15:47

And mummymunchkins - wow what a story. You made me cry! Mega congratulations.

homebirthmummy4 · 01/06/2010 16:04

oh moggmum, i will be thinking of you tonight, hope it all goes well for you and you look back on it with joy when you are holding your little baby.
i have contacted mw about coming out tomorrow to do sweep just waiting to hear as i had to leave message.
molly, i am certain you are not a heifer! did you actually avoid interventions then?

Carikube · 01/06/2010 17:27

mummymunchkins wow! what a story! congratulations...

moggmum sorry to hear you won't get to labour where you want but at least you'll be meeting LO soon - will be thinking of you

homebirthmummy4 as everyone else has said, the sweep was uncomfortable more than painful; I was apparently very favourable so it worked well for me (though I do wonder whether I would have gone in to labour anyway if I was that favourable?). It didn't feel like intervention as I had it at home and it was quite relaxed.

rachelfruitloop we're still leading parallel lives aren't we? Totally with you on the broodiness and the pride of being able to introduce a LO who is only 11 days old. Some of my antenatal group from when I had DD1 were round here earlier to admire DD2; I'm the first one to have a second child and I felt ridiculously proud...

mollycuddles · 01/06/2010 17:56

I am too big to be allowed on MLU but it didn't matter. I had a completely normal delivery in the end.

Quick birth story - I started contracting about 5pm last Sunday and they were coming increasingly frequently -about every 3 mins but were very short - only lasting about 30s. They were getting breath taking so we went to the hospital. I'd had an attempted sweep 3 days before and head was very high and obstetrician couldn't reach as cervix was too posterior. When I got to the hospital I was only 2cm and head was still high but cervix was softening and had come forward and down. The midwife said I wasn't in labour as less than 3cm even though contracting every 3 mins and told me to go home and take paracetamol and come back when contractions were painful and regular which they already were. She did say I could stay on the ward but dh would have to go home. I didn't want to be without him so we were preparing to go even though the pain was very intense. She also said I'd forgotten how painful labour was when I queried how bad the pain was for not being labour. Then I suddenly felt very wet and thought I was leaking my waters but she said it couldn't be and must be just a show because she had just examined me. I then heard a pop and gushed everywhere. She agreed to examine me and was surprised it really was the waters. Clearly thought I'd just decided to wee everywhere... Anyway by then I was 4cm so she then decided I should stay after all. That was half eleven. By about 1 I was getting mixed messages about pushing with my contractions so asked her to re examine me. But she said it wasn't allowed as it wasn't 4 hours from the last examination. The labour suite sister said it was ok and going by the examination I was nearly fully dilated but had an anterior lip. I then relaxed but was so hot but midwife kept covering me with a sheet for my modesty. Even though I didn't want it. I then threw the sheet away as it was really annoying me. The other thing that pissed me off was she kept offering me pain relief when I was coping well. But as I said DH was my support and we pretty much ignored her. About 2 I suddenly started feeling sick and then vomited everywhere (sadly not on midwife but can't have everything! Did hit DH though). After vomiting I was ready to push and it only took about 10 mins. Stupid midwife tried to move me during pushing to check Molly's heartbeat even though it had been fine throughout and even if there had been a problem all they could do was get her put as quick as possible which I was already doing! I told her to sod off and Molly was out by 2.24 and was perfect straightaway. I did have the injection for the placenta but it didn't work - it came 30 mins later when Molly had a good feed though. I went home 12 hours later - could have gone home sooner but stayed so DH could rest while DS and DD were at school.

Anyway mogg the moral is that even with a twunt of a midwife and being on CLU with DH's support it can go well and the best bit of all is I got Molly.

alle01 · 01/06/2010 18:51

hi all,
really feel for those ladies currently 40 + more than 10 days, don't know what to say for encouragement, but don't dispair!

thank you all for tips and advise with breastfeeding, i had to stop putting oscar to the breast for a couple of days due to terrible pain and open wounds, yiuk, and feeling terribly guilty about it, so expressing all the time so i can give him breast milk, but i don't get that much that way, i really hope he gets more at the breast, otherwise no wonder he is hungry,... so i got myself to the pharmacy and bought the lanolin cream, and nipple shields for until everything gets cured, and we'll try again, hope at least won't hurt so much, and keep going to the breastfeeding support group, cause is the only thing that is keeping me from giving up, so...

sorry about me post, but haven't got much time for going online, and it's really hard to keep up with this thread, ... i can't week for the doctor to let me go back to swimming and i can have a couple of hours baby free a couple of times a week, gosh, that sounds selfish and horrible...

pamelat · 01/06/2010 19:14

mummymunchkins - you made me cry reading that!! Congratulations wow, what a story to tell.

mogg good luck for tonight. I was in to be induced but the pessary (spl?) alone did it for me, had my DS an hour and a bit after the pessary, which was a shock.

Survived my first day alone without DH. However DS has been a monkey. He normally sleeps a lot in the day but has been awake for all but 40 minutes today between 8am and 5pm (my time alone with him) and then zonked out at 530pm (just before DH got home) and is fast asleep now. He normally frets from 6pm - 10pm. Its really odd. I am sure that being with just me has made him stay awake all day to feed ????????????????

AliMouse · 01/06/2010 19:38

Mummymunchkins That is a great story - congratulations and a very cool first and second name too. I've been given free reign to choose the second name so I'm going to have a bit of fun with it!

mogg best of luck hon. Keep in touch.

Have decided to book tickets to see Prince of Persia with the boys tomorrow in the hope that the dolby surround sound triggers labour. Desperate? Moi? Have got DH on DTD duty tonight too. I'll never hear the end of it if I do start contracting afterwards!

Hopefully there will be yet more wonderful and inspirational stories here later/tomorrow.

rachelfruitloop · 01/06/2010 20:01

Moggmum I'm very excited you'll be holding your baby soon! Good luck!

Sassles · 01/06/2010 20:09

Hello All!

Congratulations to all the new babies!!! I haven't had a chance to read through what's been going on with you guys, but will try to get up to speed over the next few days.

I'll try to do quick summary of our saga!

Went in for induction at 1.30pm. Membranes ruptured at 6.20 am. Had 2nd round of Prostin in labour ward at 9.20. Drip started at 3pm at 2 cm dilated. V strong, v sore ontractions every 2 mins once drip in. After 5 hours, gas & air, Diamorphine and finally epidural, internal showed I was a massive....wait for it 3 cm dilated!! Calling it a failed induction and would prob have needed to c section for that reason. However, from 8am before I even went to labour ward, CTG showed decellerations in Sam's heartbeat and continued throughout the day, so had mentioned problems with cord likely and that section prob end result. Sam had to have monitor attached to head while in me as I have a weird thing where machines stop working when i'm stressed. It was quite comical really, they had three diff blood pres monitors in the room at one point and they wouldn't work, electronic thermometers stopped and CTG machine went on fritz. C section was quite sccary as I couldn't keep my eyes open and thought there was something wrong, but it was just cocktail of drugs in my system. I got severe shakes after the epidural which took them 3 attempts and was still shaking at 2am in recovery hours later. Again, just the drugs. Sam had APGAR of 6 and needed rescucitation, but we were totally unaware until we read it in notes 3 days later, so prob just as well.

Sam started breast feeding in recovery which I was delighted at. Next day they got me up and almost instantly had an agony head and neck. I thought I had pulled my neck in the night with bad positioning for breast feeding. I was allergic to the glue on the wound dressing and had to be removed. Midwife then annonced a swap taken before induction showed I had Group B Strep and Sam needed antibiotic drip for two days. By day 3 when no drugs were working on my head, Midwife paged anaethetist (not nice man) who gave me in to trouble for sitting up breastfeeding when pain went away when I lay down! Not really getting the newborn baby thing. They took me for blood patch in morn as they said it was spinal puncture leak causing headaches and injected blood from my arm into the epidural spaces. Normally v successful, but had no effect. Two days later they sent me for MRI as no improvement. That was not fun! Quite scary, but caused by staff shoving me in the machine without discussing coping skills and also lied and said it would be 20 mins when it was 45. I his panic switch after 30 mins as I thought something had gone wrong. They didn;t have volume on headphones on, so I couldn't hear them telling me what was going on.

Next day. MRI results were clear and they said i would need to keep headache till it got better as hole healed or so small would heal itself and headache will stay till body produced more spinal fluid to top up to normal levels. I then discharged myself from hosp after 6 days of being there, but they were not happy with me at all. However, I felt myself really declining being in that long and mood dropping. Headache got almost immediately better being at home, but still very painful.

DH been amazing and taking care of both of us. I was pretty much breast feeding only lying down and he was doing everything else. Headache improved over last 3 days, but still sore and was to go back to hosp today for review, but woke up and it is totally gone!! . THANK GOD!!

Taking it very easy today, but feel we cn now get on with things properly. We've kept really upbeat about everything whole way through and there are much worse things that could happen. Sam was fine after his antibiotics and he is breast feeding well and that was all that really mattered to me. He is absolutely perfect and we love him so much. Photos's on facebook group.

DH is just amazing. He needs a medal!

On gas and air in my spaced out state I told him "on gqas and air, you have to tell the truth and I just wanted to tell you that I love you hundreds and hundreds". Think he was really chuffed with that. i also thought I was a stand up comedian saying "now was that funny folks or was just the gas and air talking?" as the punchline. No-one else laughed!

Anyway, sorry to go on. We are doing great and getting into the swing of new baby stuff. Will catch up with everyone's stories and congrats to all who have lovely new babies and fingers crossed for everyone waiting.

S xx

mollycuddles · 01/06/2010 20:59

Oh sassles - what a nightmare. I feel really guilty moaning about my annoying midwife now. So glad the headache has gone. Sorry the breast feeding stress continues alle - I found when I had bad cracks with dd1 that nipple cream and jelonet dressings helped with healing - you should be able to get that from your doctor or midwife or buy it in the chemist. I have some but so far haven't needed it but maybe worth a try. Kudos for sticking with it.

sweetkitty · 01/06/2010 21:20

OMG Sassles what a story, you seem so upbeat about it, bet he is well well worth it though.

Alimouse - fingers crossed for you too

pamelat/hollyoaks - well done on surviving your first solo day. I remember mine well after DD2 was born, I got them both ready, sorted the house etc then set off for toddlers, got there and it was off for inservice - doh! It gets easier you learn a way of doing things, this is the hardest part.

Am typing one handed again as Jacob asleep on me, he refuses to go in his basket after 5pm it would seem he can sleep in it surrounded by 3 sisters fighting and screaming during the day but in the evening you put him down sound asleep, a minute later he is up. Babies!

brightredballoon · 01/06/2010 21:26

Sassles, interesting that they gave Sam ABs, my hospital only give them if its a vaginal delivery.
Glad that you are doing so well now.

Good luck Moggmum

Sorry for short post, have to take opportunity for a bath whilst I can!

AliMouse · 01/06/2010 21:37

Sassles blimey, the c-section alone and the cocktail of drugs is traumatic enough, but that must have been so scary with Sam unwell and having to cope with a stonking headache. I'm sure the success of the breastfeeding has really helped to compensate for everything though. Those little ones know when to cooperate - they are canny survivallists aren't they!

Sweetkitty sleeping on a warm mum has to be infinately better than a basket - can't blame him. A bit limiting though! I'll have to get used to doing everything one handed again I'm sure. I can't wait!

Quick post - it's still uncomfortable to sit at the computer!

Congrats Angel - what a story! And well done for getting home so quickly. I went home on Friday too.

So after my 'twinges' on Sunday, they got more and more regular all day Monday. Went to the hospital Monday night, 2cm dilated and sent home with a couple of cocodamols. Had a good night's sleep with them! Tuesday lunchtime was ready to go back. Managed for the first couple of hours without pain relief, then went onto g&a and the birthing pool. The pool was brilliant. By 9.30pm my waters still hadn't broken and I was still only 7cm, so they sorted that out for me - there wasn't much though! Anyway, four hours later, was finally fully dilated and ready to go. She only took 45mins to deliver! The placenta took a while to follow, so I had to have a couple of the injections to get that out. I got a 2nd degree tear from delivering so quickly and I lost a lot of blood, so I wasn't in great shape afterwards and stayed in hospital until Friday. Am on iron tablets now, and I'm really uncomfortable from the stitches.

I could do with a laptop so I can do this from the sofa

Congrats to all the latest arrivals. And fingers crossed these comfy babies make an appearance soon.

I was wondering about Yorky too. Hope she's ok. If we don't hear from her soon I might email Mr Yorky to see how she is.

will check back when I can, between feeds and nappies and the like

memorylapse · 02/06/2010 00:19

just checking in to see if we have any more new arrivals

Sassles..youve certainly been through the mill..Ive heard of that happening with an epidural..but its rare.you were unlucky..however hopefully now you are home with your brand new bundle you can put it behind you

myfirstbump..I remember how painful my stitches were with DD1 and DS2..I could barely sit down..it used to hurt to wee too so I poured a jog of tepid water over my bits for the first week or so whilst I had a wee..that first poo can be scary too..lactulose helped

mummymunchkins..blimey thats some birth story..definitely one to recount to your LO at a later stage..and dont you have to put on the birth certificate for place of birth..layby on side of road..or something like that! sniffling here at your birth story though..especially at the policewoman..bless her

I think we should have a restless babies club for all these babies who just WONT sleep..arrgghhh!..at least not unless they are being fed or snuggled..Olivia had a better night last night..but today has been terrible..constant fussing..not happy today..not settling..this evening she finally settled..in my arms..which is where she currently still is..

Hollyoaks...lovely to hear you are home..and hope you can put things behind you

homebirthmummy4 · 02/06/2010 09:49

40+13 today, mw coming to my house to do a sweep. here's hoping it works!
positive thoughts to those few left to deliver!
