Hmmm perhps 'scythe a bit of your son off' was a bit emotive... remove a little bit of him then...

skihorse · 03/06/2010 10:18

Blow jobs.

(n.b., not me and Julian obv.)

CUNextTuesday · 03/06/2010 10:42

ahhhhh gotcha. One of my exes was circumcised - if I'd been then as rude forthright as I am now I would have asked him a bit more about it. Not that he'd had anything to compare it to as it was done when he was tiny. He wasn't Jewish though, or American, so I'm a bit mystified as to why he was 'done'.

organiccarrotseedsareplanted · 03/06/2010 11:10

YOB is because a friend of his parents died from an infection which started "down there". He and his brother were as babies. Seems like such a daft reason, IYAM, which obviously they didn't on the basis that I wasn't born. I mean what other bits would you chop off just because you know someone who randomly got an infection in that area which turned spectacularly nasty?

I'm sure I'm not the only one here to have had "experience" of both and in my personal experience, a clean, intact man is the ideal. Makes life easier with, well, stuff. A dirty intact man is just manky and doesn't deserve to have a woman near him anyway. And keeping himself clean is something a man Really Should Do. After all, how many men would appreciate us smelling of fish?

Ewwww.

I'm pretty uncomfortable about chopping bits off boys. I don't want to insult you, ski, but I do think it's wrong to do it without a medical reason to be honest. It's probable that in the dim and distant past doing so was a good thing for a boy/man's health, rather like eating pork was not a good idea because it is more likely to contain parasites than other meats and before pigs could be more safely raised, and before modern cooking methods, this could be a danger. This I understand is much of the reason for the non-eating of pork by Jews and Muslims which was then incorporated in to the religion. Clearly neither are relevant now, mostly at least (the pork eating, not the religions!).

While doing this to a boy has different meanings, reasons and outcomes to female genital mutilation, I do feel it's a tiny bit along that route as although it's not a way to pacify and control, and it's not as extensive as FGM, it does change sexual experience without the person's consent. I feel that removing any part of a person should be with their consent as an adult. So for instance if a man chooses to follow a faith where this is required, he can do this himself when he's of age.

I appreciate that I haven't been asked for my opinion, it may not be welcomed and it may offend some so I apologise if that's the case. I'm more than happy to have my mind changed and to be told I'm wrong!

skihorse · 03/06/2010 11:10

Quite a few of my ex's have had it done as adults. I've "dabbled" with quite a few special forces boys and when they're on ops in hot & sweaty places it's more hygienic to not have it.

FannyPriceless · 03/06/2010 11:11

It really is so much nicer to play with. But MrP and I have come to the conclusion that simply being 'nicer' for future girlfriends and the same as Daddy, cousins, etc is not sufficient reason to make this decision on his behalf. So it stays. He could always decide for himself later... does anyone remember the episode of SATC when Charlotte encountered a 'complete' man for the first time?

box I could really do with some belly pork slow roast in cider. But as cooking in this house currently consists of taking something out of the freezer and putting it in the microwave that craving will just have to wait.

SilverSky · 03/06/2010 11:15

tuesday perhaps for aesthetics?

Backinthebox · 03/06/2010 11:21

I am leaving all willy talk to his father. End of!

Fanny mmmm, slow roast belly pork! I want some now too.

CurlyCasper · 03/06/2010 11:41

I have never encountered an incomplete man. I think it might freak me out.

I have done at least five loads of washing since 8am. Mostly nappies, baby clothes, blankets, cot/basket/pram sheets. Making the most of the weather while I can. House is a tip, but the garden is a scene of domestic goddess-ery (?)

And the new mattress just arrived for my vintage Silver Cross, so I might have to make it up when all the other bits are dry and take the dog for an parade outing around the village

iggypiggy · 03/06/2010 12:19

Personally am not so fussed about whether a bloke is intact or not for a blow job - like rots said - is more important they are clean I have experienced both... I really not mind...

Has anyone watched East is East? I like that bit about circumcision in that film

cas I meant to say - huge bravo for the vintage silver cross - I saw one the other day - they are stunning... but no idea where we would store such a thing

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 03/06/2010 12:26

Hi ladies - sorry to meme and run (crappy work) - has anyone had any lightheadedness/dizziness around 24 weeks? came on yesterday afternoon, not been able to shake it.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 03/06/2010 12:41

As you were: quick google reveals this is Normal.

I've "had" both and have no strong opinion on the matter, though have had friends who did circ their sons for hygiene reasons. TSF isn't so suspect he won't want to clip Clint which is fine with me (if it turns out not to be Clintina). I know a girl from a Muslim family whose Catholic fiance had to convert to Islam and get chopped before they got married. Now that is love.

Will catch up properly later, meanwhile here's a tray of cosmopolitans and some antipasti to enjoy in the Deli garden...

CurlyCasper · 03/06/2010 12:43

Would phone the MW vag, purely as a just incase thing. Could be baby causing lung squish, but could be sign of infection etc. Better to know the score - that's what they keep telling me when I show up with me false alarms!

Thanks iggy. It just goes in under stairs cupboard, but I plan to have it in the garden a lot. Mum put us outside in one rail, hail or shine when we were babies, and it seemed to do us good! Streets round here are hardly like those of Lahndan, so I don't expect to be getting it out and about much.

CurlyCasper · 03/06/2010 12:45

erm, stick with your own feelings then vag. I didn't wnat to cause panic! I have many woozy, breathless moments, but never a continuous feeling of lightheadedness. I usually have to prop myself up and get my breath back, which might have scared a few shop workers yesterday...

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 03/06/2010 12:53

Thanks Cas - I will see how the afternoon pans out and maybe call later (though this would be the day I left my medical notes at home....have been really good at hoiking them round all the time otherwise...) I did charge about like a mad thing yesterday lunchtime, will be having a nice sit-down this lunchtime instead.

organiccarrotseedsareplanted · 03/06/2010 12:59

vag I agree with cas re dizzy thing. iggy I love that film! I dated a pakistani/english boy at uni so was relevent as well to my own experience. The circ bit in it is hilarious, yet poignant. I love the idea of swapping a bit of one's genitals for a watch... WTF???

I have had my lurvely organic cot mattress delivered. Did I mention I called the manufacturer to make sure that they were suitable for use on a sprung base, rather than the more usual slats, and the response was, "oh it must be an antique then". Well, it was the one that YOB slept on as a baby but also .

Anyway it fits perfectly and is gorgeous. I just now need a baby to go in it!

Had a crisis of confidence last night... not sure I want to do this anymore...

I think it was triggered coz YOB confirmed he's happy with my choice of name so he's now officially names (well second name still to confirm). So suddenly it seems like there's a real, live baby going to happen - arrgghhh. I shouldn't be thinking this now, right?

Second timers - are any of you planning homebirths and what's your plan for your other child while you're in labour?

Cosmosis · 03/06/2010 13:30

I haven't taken my medical notes anywhere, should I be? They are in the bookcase at home, unless I have a mw appointment.

it's too nice a day to be at work. grump.

organiccarrotseedsareplanted · 03/06/2010 13:31

reginaMonologue · 03/06/2010 13:52

blowjobs, knitting, circumcision and belly pork... just another day in the PESH deli .

Hope you are all doing ok and enjoying the weather, it's fabulous here, so good I walked to my MW appt which is most unlike me, Jeeves didn't know what to do with himself...

Anyway, BP is fantastic, Iron levels are fine, didn't get put on the weighbridge, heard the baby's HB and I don't have syphilis, kudos to me!

Actually I have to concede the MW was actually very nice today, I think because she is now aware of what's been going on she's backed off a bit, she even proffered me extra appointments when I feel like them as the pregnancy continues... so a battle axe maybe, but not as sharp and pointy as I may have originally thought.

Off to enjoy the sunshine some more, I'll keep you all posted about how I get on over the weekend... wish me luck!

skihorse · 03/06/2010 14:37

reggie Hearing a good strong hb is a very, very good sign you know. DS babies (severely affected) can have heart defects, your mw would've picked up on that had it been evident. So it's encouraging!

haha re: syphilis - jailbait apparently got the heebie-jeebies worrying about having given me HIV. Oh bless... when I was being a slut he was in a spiderman costume and playing with 99p model cars.

OkieCokie · 03/06/2010 14:57

I have only had "with" (and of course I have only had one! )

OkieCokie · 03/06/2010 14:59

Ski what is your age difference?

CUNextTuesday · 03/06/2010 15:03

Vag when I had dizziness and breathlessness it was a rampant, no-other-symptoms urine infection. Quite risky to leave it unchecked. Was hospitalised.

skihorse · 03/06/2010 15:15

okie Not that bad, he's 12 years younger.

skihorse · 03/06/2010 15:19

^too many foofoos there

Is it normal to feel "great" this late in pregnancy? I really could've used my maternity leave in Nov/Dec when I felt like shit-onna-stick. I'm feeling great of late and am off to the beautician tonight and for the first time since October she's going to be able to wax my lip up as I'm not flaking or red raw with angry hormones.
