Cosmosis · 25/05/2010 13:27

schoolboy error there VAG, always bend the rules somewhat if you know they are stricter than what you are.

SkaterGrrrrl · 25/05/2010 13:34

Hello dudes, man, I love asparagus season.

Just hit my third trimester, w00t! As if bang on schedule, the Constipation Fairy arrived.

Suddenly seems very close. Must start swimming. Must do fanny excercises. Must buy cot bedding.

Cosmosis · 25/05/2010 13:42

Skates, I also keep forgetting the fanny exercises. Have bought cot bedding though!

Backinthebox · 25/05/2010 14:02

Skates are you sure about being in your third trimester? I didn't think my third trimester started till next week.

My house is a tip and I have no energy left to clean it. Chicken shed is spotless though - and hopefully de-mited.

Got consultant appointment this afternoon so I can tell her my thoughts on VBACs. I hope she agrees with me!

Cosmosis · 25/05/2010 14:11

According to my books,3rd tri started this week for me - 27wks.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 25/05/2010 14:18

Yes Asparagus, yum! So delicious, so healthy: what's not to love?

Guess what: I just felt air bubbles! BUT they were kind of between my ribs really; I just had a big lunch and that was definitely not the baby but really just gas, right?

VAG didn't know you were with a Nordic fellow. Are you going to have a go at both languages with the baby? If so, you might find a book I got recently pretty handy. It is called "Growing up with two languages: A practical guide" - written by a swedish/northern Irish couple. It is perhaps not quite as "practical" as they make out and it's not the most gripping read ever, but I have to be fair and say I found it really helpful overall and a good way of preparing for the realities of that situation. Worth checking out! The only downside is that (at least in Waterstones here) it was bizarrely expensive - a little paperback at a whacking 27.00€ - but Amazon would surely turn up better deals...

Boxy good luck with the consultant! I am sure you will be most persuasive...

iggypiggy · 25/05/2010 14:28

afternoon all - I iz home after scan/ shopping etc. styling - I has day off (sorry cossie )

Scan good- am 32 weeks today - baybee is head down and they say is likely to stay that way and weight about 4 lbs - apparently totally average for all measurements

Fasting before the blood test was not a winner tho...

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 25/05/2010 14:43

All very valid points FIL actually gave us some of the raw, fomented shit delicacy they worship in Scandi parts. TSF was too chicken to eat it. I was retching at the thought of having it in the house/anywhere near my person. But I think it was a revenge attack as I'd given FIL chocolate covered bugs for Christmas. He ate them. I have no ego and therefore do not need to prove anything.

TSF if a bit of a fake Scandi - his Mum's an Essex girl and they grew up in Berkshire and California mostly. TSF doesn't speak the language at all (though that doesn't stop him and his brother making words up to try to baffle me). Mind you, I'm full-blooded Welsh and can't speak the language either (and mostly grew up in Berkshire).

Ski was supposed to be an Alice in Wonderland ref to Eat Me cakes. Mmmm cakes.

Skater and Box - third tri already? - argh! I managed to start the purchasing for Clint this weekend. I bought a cushion with some boats appliqued onto it.

PollyPoo · 25/05/2010 14:45

Hey Iggster glad scan went well. Can't believe you are 32 weeks already! When are you finishing work?

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 25/05/2010 14:45

And Cossie in third tri?

iggypiggy · 25/05/2010 14:47

poo on 18th June which I can't wait for cos work is not that much fun when I could be sitting at home

FannyPriceless · 25/05/2010 15:06

boxy Hope it goes well with consultant. What are your views on VBACs?

I'm picturing the nursery in VAG's house as a completely empty room with a boat-appliqued cushion carefully placed in the middle of the bare floor.

I sent off my application for Maternity Allowance today. I do not know whether or not it will be approved. I feel like I am begging the govt for a few meagre pennies that I might have snorted at before, but I am no longer too proud to compute that some money > no money.

Glad the PESHes liked the 'passive/aggressive' door note. When MrP got home last night the first thing he said was 'So, did someone really annoying knock on the door today then?'

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 25/05/2010 15:20

It's propped up against the bare wall ACTUALLY....

The "nursery" is the fullest room in the house, being currently the spare room, laundry room and general dumping ground for stuff I don't know what to do with. Clearing it out is quite high up on my To Do list.

skihorse · 25/05/2010 17:09

It's OK to have an empty nursery because the Little Emperor will not be in that room until 6 months anyway! (See AIBU) Tbh, this is how I'm getting around all the "have you decorated the nursery yet?" questions - I give a sickly smile and say "oh god no, I mean obviously the baby will be with us until x/y/it's 18". When what I mean is - until we get a bigger flat. tsk.

I've had a successful day, I haz:
i) paid all zer bills. Yep, even the ones you don't want to pay.
ii) Got rid of a huge dresser thing - amazing how quickly you can get rid of stuff like that when you put in the ad "free today if you collect it today".
iii) Booked a 2 week ski holiday in Austria for next year. Julesbert is booked in for 2 weeks baby care. Rah rah rah.

CurlyCasper · 25/05/2010 17:17

I just got my 'puter back and have to go home in a mo and rest my hormones. Will respond to all your posts properly later, but for now I want to say that I just love you lot, and agree that this is one helpful, supportive joint. Hope the newly-diffed can see that too.

Backinthebox · 25/05/2010 18:11

Back from the consultant - big non-event. She was lovely and just smiled at me and said 'you can do whatever you want here, we'll support you.' Which kind of took the wind out of my 'and don't want to be strapped to a bed with CFM and I don't want a canula and I want a pool with whale music and a waiter serving canapes...' (actually, I don't think they do the last bit ) Not going to go into too much detail about what happened first time round as a tale of something that was a bit more effort than a sneeze might upset some of the more sensitive PESHes )Is there such a thing as a sensitive PESH?) But the consultant seemed to think there was no reason why I should have to suffer the whole sorry tale of woe all over again. Tbh, if it DID happen all over again, I would sue this time.

FP I want to have a VBAC - so far (touch wood) my pregnancy has been normal and healthy so there should theoretically be very little more risk than as for a first time vaginal birth, and the risks from CS still a little higher than for an otherwise uncomplicated birth. (I do appreciate you have ishoos meaning a CS makes sense for you, so not dissing your choice!) I don't want it to be all clinical though, and I was quite surprised the consultant said I could have a wter labour (although she recommended a land birth. 'S fine by me!) without any bother at all. She's going to get the water birth midwife expert to give me a call so we can put in place rules before labour if I am to use the pool.) Means I can use the homely rooms in the hospital too. I asked about what happens if I go overdue too, and she said they would have me in for an examination at 10 days and see what the problem was and how imminent things were before they would commit to anything. They would only induce by ARM and that would only be as a last resort if everything else was favourable and I had already dilated a bit without noticing (I'd like to think that might happen. The not noticing bit )

Ski mucho jealous at your ski hol booked. We can't afford a proper one next year as all money will be shovelled into the extension. The extension (or lack of it) also explains why I haven't been decorating the nursery - we don't have one. Baby will have to live in a grocery box at the foot of my bed instead. DD has smiled sweetly at me and explained how the baby won't be going in her room to sleep as they go 'Wah! Wah! Wah!' Which is a fair enough summary.

VAG - not yet! Next week. Skater is jumping the gun, unless she has overtaken me too. I thought she was a day or 2 behind me, but hell - she's overtaken everyone else!

CUNextTuesday · 25/05/2010 18:30

boxer I'm looking forward to fully dilating without noticing

skihorse · 25/05/2010 18:35

cunty like my friend who walked in to the hopital fully dilated you mean? See, it does happen. But not kidding, I had to DRAG her birth story out of her. Nobody wants to share the easier ones.

Backinthebox · 25/05/2010 21:33

You've seen my liver Ski, you'll never get that image out of your head

The horse has yet another interview tomorrow. I seriously couldn't be a horse dealer - doing this once every 6 years is enough! Anyway, I googled the potential buyer's name, and the first thing I discovered was she had neglected to mention the 'Lady' prefix. No matter - I know a lady or 2, so that won't phase me. Next thing Google informed me, turns out she is a model too. And lives in a massive country pile with her baronet husband. Will big horse be good enough? DD has pre-school for 2 hours tomorrow morning, and I don't know whether to scrub and trim the horse or to spring clean the hovel-otherwise-known-as-my-house. And get some fairy cakes in and teacups. Then a bit more digging and it turns out she has the same rding instructor as my firend who used to ride big horse for me, and it turns out my utterly utterly glamourous but completely penniless friend is the only thing that has made the potential buyer jealous in a long time. So I told the buyer my friend had asked if she could have big horse on loan if I don't sell him. That should do the trick

Sorry if that all sounds like blather, but since I don't have the energy to move much in this heat I have taken up gossip as a hobby.

CurlyCasper · 26/05/2010 06:52

Morning, thanks all for the comments re hips/exercise, but please don't fuss - I just get on regardless! Nonetheless, in answer to questions about exercise, I don't go swimming because breast stroke is pretty much ruled out for SPD wimmin and I would otherwise sink! I do plan to float around in a posh spa the weekend after next. I still wander around and will be doing short dog walks etc. And I have big plans to get moving again after the birth. For a start, the pub is a good walking distance away! I just hope fanny can get back on her feet asap. (not long now!)

Runny eggs are the best. They MUST not stop

Hurrah for the third tri skates - what a speedy pregnancy

Glad for successful scans and AN appoinments boxy and iggy (hope the 18th comes quickly piggle)

Gossip is good boxy. Good luck with the hoss auditions.

Must finish my breakfast.

skihorse · 26/05/2010 08:26

Good morning lovelies.

boxer Gossip is good and doesn't put any strain on ligaments - good luck today with big horse - I'll bet he's ground poo in to his hocks overnight though - cuz that's what they doez innit. All the posh aristocrats I know are broke beyond belief driving 20 year old landies held together with bale twine - yet at the same time drop 10k on the betting on race day... different priorities I suppose! Disclaimer - all = a few!

curly Yep, breaststroke would be evil - I like backstroke right now because I can see my bump! I think the gently tinkling of glasses at the pub will help your little girl sleep!

VAG I was joking about the pickled, buried fish - I didn't think they'd actually do it. Mingers. Feed your FIL haggis - that seems to separate the men from the boys.

fanny When are you due to lay your baybee? We're talking days now right?

Cosmosis · 26/05/2010 09:21

Mornings PESHbabes how are we all today?

I am feeling rather cheerful.

Had a lovely thing in NCT last night where we did a relaxation where we had to visualise us at 4am with the baby crying, and not feeling alone, and soothing the baby etc, and all the while I was getting thoroughly prodded and poked by Artie, was quite emotional.

mmmmm haggis.

FannyPriceless · 26/05/2010 10:10

ski Days? Days?! You cruel bitch. Still 2 weeks to go. Really unhappy about it. MrP is seriously worried I won't last, but not sure what I can do about it. It is hell as I simply can't move at all without agony. But even more terrifying is the thought of having the baby early before my mum arrives. Gaaarrr!

We had a real scare last night as just a little hobble from sofa to loo on crutches took about 20 mins as I had these excruciating crampy pains that froze me to the spot for ages at a time. We were seriously worried it was contractions.[terrified face] (Shuddering, tightening cramps pulling right down through my centre core and making me want to faint.) I was convinced it couldn't be as they went on for ages with only about 10 secs in between, i.e. pretty worrying if they were! But once back on the sofa and resting in a comfy position I had no more pains for the rest of the evening. So I guess the moral is, don't move.

I have a midwife appt late morning and am dreading the effort involved in getting there. Realising now I should have requested a home vist at this point, but it's a bit late now.

Sorry for all this complaining, and even more sorry you all have to put up with this 'poor me' rubbish for another 2 weeks. I will not be offended if you skip my posts from now on!

Anyhoo, boxy I'm loving the horsie / aristo gossip so keep it coming. Agree with ski's summary of titled folks' money sense being a bit whacky. Scrimp and save on the most hilarious things then appear completely clueless in other areas of money management. I hope your selling strategy works and big horse is good for her. My fingers are crossed (but definitely not my legs).

Cosmosis · 26/05/2010 10:13

Oh fanny that sounds grim Mucho sympathy to you.

PollyPoo · 26/05/2010 10:33

Fanny that sounds so awful, you poor thing. When is your mum arriving?

Boxie good luck with big 'oss and the Lady.

Ski have you puked lately?
