Good luck with the move J&BsM Hope it's not too stressful....

Joseyjo - I don't think I have had any Braxton Hicks, but I reckon that if I had had them then I would know all about it! Doesn't sound pleasant from your description!!

I am still very lucky so far - I can still sleep right through the night without needing to go for a pee, although I am bursting when I wake up in the morning. ( TMI)

Caught sight of my first stretch marks in the mirror this morning, but really they don't bother me as they will join the others which I have from many years ago where I put on a lot of weight in a short space of time.

I'm away to sort the garden out - beetroot neeeds boiled and frozen, as do the broad beans. The onions need dried out and so the list goes on and on.....

nervousmum2be · 04/09/2005 19:13

Hope everyone's had a good weekend. I ended up at my maternity unit yesterday, with a really bad pain down the left side of my bump. Having been fully checked over, they put it down to a mild gastric bug, but i had 3 different midwives prodding my belly and neither could decide whether Boo was still breech or not so i'm being booked in for an urgent ultrasound to properly check his positioning this week before i see the Consultant on Friday! I guess that means i'll get to see Bab again pre-delivery, and they should be able to tell me an approximate weight etc, which will be exciting

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 04/09/2005 21:36

Glad all ok NM2B

For all you second timers that arent organised - marco sky for sale!

Elf1981 · 05/09/2005 07:13

Been having some pains this weekend, and slept funny last night so have a really bad neck. Argh!

It's my birthday today - 24! Got a load of cards saying how special this one is as it's the last one before I become a mummy!

Hope all are well. Got 10 days left at work now, cant wait. Well, 9 1/2 as seeing midwife on Wed... not that I'm on countdown or anything!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 05/09/2005 07:37

HAPPY BRTHDAY ELF!

triceratops · 05/09/2005 09:09

Happy birthday Elf. I hope you don't get heartburn from too much birthday cake!

Hope everything goes ok with your scan NM2B and that you feel better soon. It sounds like they are taking good care of you.

I can't get a midwife appointment for a fortnight as it is so busy round here. I haven't seen the same midwife twice this time around so far. I keep having to go through my entire medical history with a new woman. It is a bit embarrassing bringing up some of the lovelier bits of pregnancy with a complete stranger.

BigBumpBonnie · 05/09/2005 09:32

Happy birthday Elf!!!

I've just dropped off dd for her first morning at pre school . She's only 2 and i've never left her with anyone before but she seemed fine. I'm picking her up at 11.30 so it's only a couple of hours and I was ok until I got home and saw all her stuff and I haven't been able to stop crying since! Maybe it's my hormones. Oh well at least I'll have a couple of weeks of free time in the mornings before Ruby arrives.

To all those who are still working you have my full sympathy and how are you managing it??? I can barely drag myself out of bed at the moment!

Piggiesmum · 05/09/2005 10:05

Happy Birthday Elf.

Hope your scan going okay NM2B. Sounds like you had a worrying weekend!

I'm also glad I've finished work. And to think I'd been planning to work up till the end of September. I must've been made!!

It's starting to sink in just how close it's getting, and I'm starting to panic about not having anything ready yet. I'm still having problems decideing what sort of pushchair/pram etc to get, whether to get a moses basket or go straight to a cot/bed etc etc, the list goes on!!

Piggiesmum · 05/09/2005 10:06

Must've been mad , not made. D'oh

Lexie100 · 05/09/2005 12:07

our first little baby, congratulations. i'm now so excited for everyone. However, realisation of just how much i need to do before the little one comes is scary. Picked up the moses basket at the weekend and started to wash loads of clothes which we have been given. Even bought some nappies, now that was a reality check.

Hope all have had a good weekend.

nervousmum2be · 05/09/2005 13:38

Happy Birthday, Elf

Well, i had my scan, and Boo is head down and is already 3/5 engaged! Apparantly the sonographer seemed to think it was a bit early for that as i'm a 'primagravida' - does this mean i'm likely to have an early baby? Also, because it was a rush job to fit me in, no clues about the weight, although she did say he is a 'nice healthy size' (hopefully not 12Ibs, like the woman on Homebirth Diaries on Discovery this morning though!!!)

I still see the consultant on Friday (if Bab waits that long), as although Bab is now definitely head down (and extremely unlikely to turn round now he's engaged), i've been getting a lot of back pain and sciatic nerve irritation, so might still have to have a section. Wish me luck!

BigBumpBonnie · 05/09/2005 13:48

nm2b, glad to hear your little one has turned into the correct position. It seems like most are starting to turn now, but I think mine's still breech for the time being. I can still feel that hard ball of a head under my ribs. Only a few days to go before I see the consultant as well, so she might still decide to get in the correct position.

Had to pick up dd from preschool as they phoned and she was really distressed and crying. She could hardly catch her breath she had been sobbing so hard. I have thought long and hard and decided to try again in 6 months or so as I can't imagine taking her back again as she was so upset. She is still a baby really and I think it's just too early for her. She is also going to have to cope with the arrival of the new baby soon and I think it's all a bit much.

I was looking forward to some free time, but obviously it's not meant to be at the moment. Never mind!!!

Jockey · 05/09/2005 15:59

Happy Birthday Elf! Have a lovely rest of the day.

Good luck for Friday nm2b!

Oh no BigBumpBonnie - I've got to go through all this tomorrow and am absolutely dreading it even though my ds is 3. He hasn't been to day nursery like my older two children and is not used to this type of setting at all. He seems to think I will be staying for the whole session (I may have to, to begin with). Whatever happens he gets a school nursery place in January so may just leave it all until then.

Meanwhile I must really try to get organised with everything! This means sending dh into the loft to see what we've got, what we need to buy etc. I'm too fat to get up there now!!!

jai38 · 05/09/2005 16:04

Hi all

Hopefully some of you will remember em I introduced myself a while back and then promptly lost all internet connection - such fun!! Now am back online and so glad as things are getting so close it is nice to read through what everyone else is going through is the same!!! Although first baby does nearly scare me into buying something!!

I was wondering if anyone can help be with some syptoms and suggest some relief. Along the top of my bump for the past couple of weeks I have had pain akin to really really bad sunburn. At first I thought I needed new bras, so did that but no relief, infact it is worse when I take it off (TMI!!!). Any ideas - i am getting desperate. My wonderful midwife just told me to lean forward!!!

mishmash2 · 05/09/2005 18:56

Thank you all for all your kind words. I feel a bit of a 'viewer' now that I'm seeing how you are all getting on and not sharing the same symptoms as you are. But best of luck to you all and I will keep on checking up on you all to see who is joining me next! I am now having the delights of cracked nipples etc etc - just something else for you all to look forward to!!

My first week with William has been a dream though as he hasn't cried at all. Just sleeps and eats... have a feeling that will change very very shortly but just can't stop looking at him as he is adorable!

Hope you are all feeling better soon and Happy B'day Elf!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 05/09/2005 18:57

glad to hear everything going well mishmash - other than the cracked nipples obviously!

Sounds like you have a little star on your hands!

morningpaper · 05/09/2005 20:17

Good luck with those nipples Mishmash and so many congratulations.

Gosh I'm so SHOCKED at having 'our' first baby on the thread already! I've got a list of Things To Do and I need to crack on - I'm just over 36 weeks now. Still working but feeling fine really - just fecking HUMUNGOUS and my feet are really swollen. Loads of Braxton Hicks too - SO uncomfortable that I want to lie down and cry sometimes! What a wuss!

BigBumpBonnie · 06/09/2005 08:51

Jockey, good luck today with your little boy. I hope his day goes well!!

morningpaper, the braxton hicks are AWFUL aren't they? I ventured into town yesterday to get some last minute bits (disposable knickers and the like ) anyway near enough every step was followed by a braxton hicks. They really hurt this time as well. I had real difficulty getting around and was puffing and sweating and felt just dreadful. Also my dd was playing up and I was finding it so hard to physically cope. I am looking forward to the end now. I'm also 36 weeks this week, so not much longer now

morningpaper · 06/09/2005 09:46

BBB: Yes I am finding it a bit hard to cope physically, although I hate to admit it! There are moments when I want to sit down on the pavement and cry! But you just can't stop with a toddler in tow. I'd give anything for a couple of hours to rest in the day but no chance of that, so at the mo I'm just retiring to bed with my daughter around 7pm and we're reading in bed together!

Sorry about your nursery experience but I think you are right to leave it for now - too much change going on I reckon. Just see how it goes over the next few weeks.

nervousmum2be · 06/09/2005 10:19

my house has offically turned into a builder's yard this morning - the start of the new heating system! Why oh why did i think it was a good idea so late into my pregnancy?!? Still, it'll be worth it when it's done.

Moomin · 06/09/2005 10:40

Hi all.
HUGE congrats to mishmash!!! LOvely name as well.
nervousmumtobe: I'm pretty sure prima gravida just means 'first-time mother'!! Nothing to worry about at all
Well, after being so wound up and anxious about my brother's illness, I feel like the consumate bitch-from-hell because he is driving me absolutely MENTAL!!! I've become spolit living with dh as he is such a darling when he's poorly and is such a help with everything - I love my brother dearly and I'm obviously glad he's getting better but at the end of the day, HE'S A SICK MAN AND HE'S LIVING IN MY HOUSE!!! He never stops telling me about every single symptom, twinge and ache he gets; I'm running after him and dd the whole day long, as he seems incapable of making a cup of tea or a sandwich... despite going for a walk on the hills at the weekend when his friends came to visit!!!!!

Sorry for ranting! I just want to NEST in peace. I have told him he'll need to move to my dad's in 3 weeks' time and although he was surprised to hear that he just might be under my feet with a new baby in the house, he did agree in good grace in the end - Hoorah!

Got my last scan today, to see if the placenta has moved.

Piggiesmum · 06/09/2005 11:39

Good luck with your scan Moomin. Hope it's good news. I have mine on Monday. I don't know about you but I feel abit in limbo and don't realy feel like I can plan anything yet re: the birth until I know what sort I'll be having.

Hope your brother moves out OK and leaves you to nest in peace.

Elf1981 · 06/09/2005 12:37

Thanks for all the B.day wishes. Made up for the fact that most of the people I know had forgotten! Work forgot but then sussed and took me out for lunch. On DH's mum and gran remembered, cue loads of phone calls last night from the rest of the wishing me happy b/day and apologies that they'd forgotten.
DH took me out for dinner and I did manage three courses but I did find it a struggle to get out of the booth at Frankie and Benny's after we'd finished
35 weeks tomorrow! Cant believe it. Though sometimes feeling like 70 weeks. Hate people who say "ohh, your pregnancy has flown by"!.
My work friend brought her new baby in yesterday. Bless, bless, bless. She was born last Wed weighing 6lbs 1/2 oz and she's so teeny and adorable!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 06/09/2005 12:41

Well done for managing 3 courses! I just about managed a jacket potato last night! Rennie Soft Chews are a GOD SEND!

Cant sleep - feel poo - 6 weeks to go and feeling like time has stopped!

So much to do for the move on friday and just cant get my head round it all!

ButtonMoon · 06/09/2005 16:30

Think we all need it to be over now...particularly when the weather is so muggy and sticky..everything is such a big effort ...I'm done in just walking up the stairs Feeling very emotional and cry at the slightest thing at the mo. Finding sleeping difficult and my back kills when I try to get out of bed...actually just achey all over in general (apparently all the ligaments relaxing ready for birth!!) Starting to get a bit nervous now about the birth, will I cope this time? What if they tell me I can't have an epidural? I NEED ONE!!!! cor blimey...moaner or what!!!?? Supposed to be moving house next week so you'll have to let me know how it goes J&BMum.. our house is a tip and full of packed boxes...must be mad!!! Feeling a bit guilty about DD too...tend to leave her to her own devices as I have so little energy.....and want to sleep most of the day It was so much easier first time around!! Hospital bag now packed and ready to go and just finished washing the last few things that I have sorted out from DD (unisex/white stuff) Quite excited and trying to stay calm about the birth thing this time.
