Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mampam · 16/06/2010 09:57

My gosh I really cannot keep up with this thread at the moment!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new babies that have been born and GOOD LUCK to those being induced today.

I really admire those of you with twins. Don't know how you do it

Off for a very short walk now, got to build my muscle tone/stamina back up after not doing any exercise for over 7 months!!!

Summerhols · 16/06/2010 10:04

Wow lots of inductions today, how exciting as it will mean we will have some new announcements shortly.

Well I am feeling rotten this morning (moan alert), spent all night up with constant period pains, thinking yay here we go. Then about 4am I fell asleep on the sofa and when I woke up all the pains had gone. V. frustrating.

Also I think I?ve caught conjunctivitis from my nephew, I have itchy eyes with white stuff in them. Can not believe it, the day before my due date! Fortunately I have managed to get an appointment to see Dr this PM. I don't suppose any one knows if there is anything that can be prescribed when pregnant for conjunctivitis?

herewegrow · 16/06/2010 10:18

Congratulations to:

Poguemahone Alwayshopeful MrsC09 MrsAlwaysRight Boobs Justbeme and Monthlymayhem hope you are all enjoying your little ones.

Good luck to all those being induced today.

Got a huge list of jobs to do at home today while DD is a nursery but so far have only managed breakfast and playing on the pc. Right had better crack on with some thing. . . .

fillybuster · 16/06/2010 11:00

Good luck madamefreckle, try not to worry, and looking forward to good news

And good luck MonkeyMargot, you've done amazingly to get to 38 weeks!

Summerhols, no reason you can't have antiobiotic drops/cream (or even tablets) during pregnancy - I was prescribed abs for a spot thing on my eye a few weeks ago which worked really fast. Hope the conjunctivitis clears up soon, tho, as it isn't much fun.

40+2 and no action...had a load of twinges last night and did some good bouncing on the birthing ball which helped, then....nothing!!! Oh well, I always thought this one would be about about 5-6 days late and it would be a lot easier if it came over the weekend - no school stuff to worry about for ds, more parking near the hospital, dh not rushing home from office

I've got a sweep booked for tomorrow lunchtime, then a scan/cervix check and sweep (the offficial 'late booking' at my hospital) on Friday lunchtime...hopefully those 2 will get things moving, otherwise I shall be downing castor oil on Saturday morning

roundabout1 · 16/06/2010 11:19

Quick post from me, haven't had chance to catch up on posts yet. Baby Lauren born 2.40 sat am weighing 8lb 14oz, really quick labour back ache started 10.30pm ish by midnight convinced was beginning of something. Quickly sorted out babysitter to come & stay & then 30 mins drive to hospital, just through the labour ward doors & felt the need to push 20 mins later baby born. So different to dd1's labour, quick, painful (no time for pain relief) but productive pain that achieved something quickly unlike previous time. Didn't get out of hospital til last night as Lauren has had to be closely monitored as I have anti e antibodies & she has been affected but is doing really well now.

Right off to catch up on the thread!

sobloodystupid · 16/06/2010 12:04

Congratulations roundabout1. Love your dd's name. Like so many others on the thread Wednesday seems to be "sweeps/induction day" and so it is for me. Good luck to all.

herewegrow · 16/06/2010 12:04

Congratulations Roundabout1 love the name!

Congrats roundabout1. And justbeme - i said it on fb but forgot to on here!

greensnail · 16/06/2010 14:22

Congratulations to all the new arrivals and good luck to everyone being induced today, hope things go well for you all.

summerhols breastmilk is good for conjunctivitis so if you're leaking colostrum you could try that!! Probably much easier to just use eye drops though

Have had the HV here today and she was a bit concerned that Alice is still jaundiced. Is coming back to see us next week but if its still there we'll be off to the hospital with her too. I can't see that there's anything to be worried about really as she's gaining plenty of weight and is quite alert. Still not pooing well though. Anyway, after all the time we spent at hospital when I was pregnant it'll be nice to go back for another visit before I start getting withdrawal symptoms

Hope saucepanman is ok. Has anyone heard from her?

MrsDmamee · 16/06/2010 16:00

Thanks CSWS for the updated stats. Its lovely to see all the brand new arrivals and so many in past few days. Gorgeous names by the way

goodluck to all those being induced.

I've another antenatal check this week as my BP is a bit high so im hoping its ok again at 2nd check up on friday.

I have been pretty stressed with non-related pg stuff past week or so.
ds1&2 messing every night now that DH is working nightshifts again.
I feel like I've lost control and it doesnt help that ds1 is in full "I can do what I want" teenager mode.

RnB · 16/06/2010 16:13

Will have to catch up with the new arrivals later - there have been loads!

Am home with my baby girl (7lb 9oz) who arrived 16 days late! Birth Story below copied from my other thread:

Hello everyone, well I'm back home with my beautiful baby girl

I went for the monitoring scan on Monday and it revealed that I had huge amounts of fluid around the baby (3x more than normal), which could be potentially something serious (especially the risk of cord prolapse if the waters broke), so the decision was taken out of my hands and I had to be induced that evening.

I had the pessary tablet inserted at 10pm and by 3am started having mild tightenings. My cervix was still very posterior. By 10am I was taken up to the labour room to have my waters broken - this was done with difficulty as I was only a tiny bit dilated and position of the cervix. Also because of all of the fluid I had to have an 'Assisted ARM' which basically meant I had the registrar with his hand inside me preventing a possible cord prolapse and the midwife pushing the baby down at the same time.

As horrific as this sounds it was actually quite amusing as they let me get high on G&A and there was so much water that I practically flooded the room! The poor registrar was covered in it (was even inside his shoes!)

After this they left me for 2 hrs to see if I would start contracting on my own, but I was only having 1 contraction every 10 minutes so they started the dreaded drip. They started it on a low dose which was increased every 30 mins or so I think. The contractions started coming and soon I was getting 3 in 10 mins.

The baby's heartbeat was decelerating with the contractions so during this time there were loads of doctors and midwives coming in and out basically deciding if they needed to take me down to surgery then and there. I think my midwife was quite worried but the doctors eventually said we should carry on.

I was coping with breathing for some time but moved onto G&A when I got to about 6cm dilated. By 7 cm I was really struggling with the pain and struggling to cope. Part of me knew that the time of the birth was very near (I was very emotional, really felt like I was losing control) but part of me was dreading that I still had hours to go.

In fact I'd gone from 7cm to fully dilated in minutes. I think this is the point when I told the midwife to 'turn the f*cking syntocinin machine off'

They examined me on the bed and the baby's head was really low and 1 push later the head was out. Next contraction the body was out.

In total the established labour lasted just 4hrs. Very intense, agony and the end but obviously all worth it. She's beautiful

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/06/2010 17:29

Congratulations RnB. Bits of your induction sound very familiar! Do you have a name for her yet?

imkeepingmum · 16/06/2010 18:20

Many congratulations to all the new arrivals (won't try to list you all in case I miss someone off!)

Have bought some arnica tablets today after reading the discussion on arnica earlier in the thread.

DH and I so excited about meeting our little one, hopefully not long to go now. Massive amounts of Braxton Hicks which I hope are doing something more than keeping me awake at night and uncomfortable for most of the day...but at least baby is engaged and in good position according to midwife.

MerryMarigold · 16/06/2010 19:33

Just eavesdropping here and bookmarking so that I hear MonekyMargot's news asap!

LittleRobbo · 16/06/2010 20:26

Many congrats RnB {grin}

Good luck to all being induced, very much looking forward to reading the birth stories

Cannot believe how quick the majority of Labours are on this thread, fabulous!

bluesnowfalcon · 17/06/2010 07:25

I've learnt that there is nothing that we can't say on here but a TMI warning!

I was wondering if all of those who have had their babies or who are on the second ones could help me out?!

I'm 39+2 and am having a lot of discharge generally it is white and milky but the sometimes goes more thick and snotty and is greener. Is this normal discharge or should I be worried?

Also not sure if it was connected to the mucus plug? I know that this is asking a lot for people to post info about this on here but really would like to have some information and some reassurance.

Thanks in advance for your help

AlwaysHopeful · 17/06/2010 10:08

bluesnow that sounds exactly the same as my discharge for the last couple of weeks or so of my pregnancy. It turned pink the day I started in labour. There was discussion about colour/quantity of discharge a few weeks back and concensus was that what you describe is pretty common. You could always phone your midwife to be sure, though.

Congratulations to all the new mummies this week and good luck to those being induced over the next few days.

My little George is doing really well. After all my fears about breastfeeding again, he's turned out to be an expert feeder and has put 7oz on since he was born 11 days ago. I'm so relieved that it's easier this time. My evenings are spent almost constantly feeding, but he's sleeping well in his crib at night that's the most important thing...

AlwaysHopeful · 17/06/2010 10:15

Finally managed to get a photo of George onto my profile page now.

GibberingGinger · 17/06/2010 10:24

bluesnow, that sounds like a show to me. TMI alert, but mine looked like I had had a really bad cold and sneezed in my pants. It was never bloody, but when my waters went they were crimson, which really alarmed me at the time, but I was told later that was the bloody part of my show staining the waters.
Hope this reassures you. Sounds like things may happen this week for you.

perkster · 17/06/2010 12:28

Hello all and many Congrats to all the new arrivals! I have not been online for weeks due giving birth

Our son, Sidney James Perkins Berner was born on 4th June two mins aftr midnight by emergency c-section . We did 26 hours at home in labour which was fab and the midwives were amazing, I went through 5 canisters of gas and air and my other half couldn't believe I didn't call him names or swear once! I used a lot of my preggers yoga tools which really helped and kept myself active throughout.

At about 11pm the midwives checked me and was concerned as I had not progressed as I should and when they felt inside said it wasn't the crown of a head they could feel but something fleshy which could be a face. Having had friends who ended up having quite a bit of reconstruction and recovery from exactly this I was more than happy to whip the baby out! They also said it was not safe at that point for me to be at home. We only live round the corner from hospital so within the hour Sidney arrived! The next day a nurse told me on the ward that he was trying to come out knees first!! It turns out he must have turned during labour and was making a bid for freedom in a most peculiar way - has anyone else heard of this before? I don't think the surgeon spotted the knees thing when scanning me upon arrival for the c-section as he offered me the option of a vaginal breech delivery, I am very glad I didn't take him up on the offer.

He was 7lbs 11ozs and is doing very well. We did have an extra day in hospital as he was dehydrated and jaundiced so wasn't waking up for a feed. The breast feeding worker at the hospital was brilliant and worked out a feeding programme where he was fed every couple of hours with me expressing milk which he was cup fed, topping up cup feeding formula and trying him on the breast each time as well. He perked up as soon as he was given breast milk and made a very quick recovery (phew) . He now has a healthy appetite but also sleeps quite a bit so dad and I have managed to get some rest between feeds. I have one crazy boob which produces much more than the other and sometimes covers him in milk so I have taken to expressing a little bit before latching him on to give him a fighting chance without drowning the poor fella!

We realise his name keeps people giggling but we really liked Sidney which was both my Grandads first names and James was the name of my other halfs paternal Grandad. He will just be known as Sidney Berner but I wanted my surname in there otherwise it would end up getting lost due to my dad only having sisters and me having one sister. It's also a huge part of my identity as all my nicknames come from my surname, hardly anyone calls me by my first name!

I really hope all the new mums and babies are doing well and good luck to all of those waiting

bluesnowfalcon · 17/06/2010 12:31

Thanks gibberingginger and alwayshopeful really good to know that. mine looks like snot too! If it is then I've been losing it on and off for a couple of days and Braxtons did start getting stronger over the weekend so I guess it ties in

Anyone else in the same boat it'd be good to hear from you x

MomBanks · 17/06/2010 12:49

hi bluesnow i am also having greenish snot-like discharge and lots of period-type pains. today is my due date but i am not hopeful that baby will come today. maybe this weekend.

last pregnancy i lost my mucus plug in one big gloop (it was the size of a big slimy oyster) so this is different for me, but if it means the baby is coming soon, i am taking it as good news!

ready to get this baby out.....
