Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
theperfectbaguette · 09/06/2010 12:55

Hi bluesnowfalcon I'm having similar things, - I think - movement not as pronouced as before, move stretching and shifting rather than full on kicking. Also got some grinding going on very low and serious bladder pressure. My hips are also very stiff if I sit down for longer than half an hour at a time, - which is a bore. Also bump does seem to go quite hard now and then, but it's for much longer than a minute, so I dont know if it's BH's.

LaTrucha · 09/06/2010 13:40

Thanks GinaFB!

I wonder how you're getting on Poguemahone? Well, I hope.

bluesnowfalcon - less movement here too, or at least less noticeable. If I tune in to it, he is in fact moving every few minutes. I think it's normal as they run out of space.

Saw my baby boy on the sonographers screen this morning. Good little man has his head down and they estimate he has put on a kilo in the last month . Amniotic fluid levels have gone up to normal too, so everything looking good for VBAC. Yay! Consultants are very keen to stress that they will take no risks though, so we'll see.

Anyone remember me talking about my nipple that changed shaped (and why would you )? Well, I went to the GP today and she has referred me to the breast specialist at the local hospital (I think - she's phoninh me this afternoon to confirm). She says she is following standard advice and being cautious but that she can see what I mean. This is NOT what she was supposed to say: I thought she'd send me home saying I was fretting over nothing. I now feel a bit wobbly although I know there's nothing real to worry about at this stage. I'm going to try and put it out of my mind and concentrate on DD and baby.

Also glowing irrationally with pride as nursery have described DD as 'always exceptionally well behaved' Not the sort of thing I pass on in RL but nice to have a little glow here!

roundabout1 · 09/06/2010 13:49

La Trucha - you revel in your glow about your dd, it's only natural. Sounds like your dd is a little star (or is she like mine & a different character altogether at home!) Try not to worry too much about the breast speacialist, sounds like she is only being cautious but totally know what you mean when you say she was meant to dismiss it as nothing.

bluesnowfalcon - I'm feeling much less movement know although is very painful at times with what I imagine to be be toes & heels sticking out of my belly. If I concentrate really hard I can feel a alot more movements, if not after a drink of orange juice or prodding my stomach, movements seem to happen.

poguemahone - hope things are going well for you

madamefreckle · 09/06/2010 13:53

Good luck pogue! Suzy - I've put off a sweep so far (thinking of having one at 10 days overdue)and it's fine to do so if there are no medical reasons why you need to advance labour. If you're ok, baby's heartbeat is ok and movement is regular then there really is no hurry. Even after 14 days it is still often ok to put off any sort of induction as long as you have regular monitoring. However, you're definitely best off discussing this with your midwife.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/06/2010 13:57

LaT - I love that they can manage to be angels at nursery/school even when they are more than capable of turning into monsters at home (not saying that yours does, but def applies to mine at times!)
It sounds like your GP is just being cautious, but hopefully you will get reassurance from the specialist.

Well we found out this morning about dh's new contract. He starts next week, and will be in Greece for both of the next two weeks, returning 3/4 days before my due date. I am less than impressed, and just praying now that this baby isn't early. No idea how I will cope with the next 2 weeks tbh - ds is likely to be distraught at his beloved daddy disappearing, and with me barely able to move with the sciatica it is hardly going to be a bundle of laughs getting everyone out the house on time in the mornings.

madamefreckle · 09/06/2010 13:58

LaT - Good news about things looking good for VBAC. Try not to fret about the nipple thing - it's a good thing that they are checking it out properly and hopefully they can put your mind at rest. Your DD sounds like a total gem

GinaFB - Thank you. Hope all's going well for you.

DIMB - Lovely to hear your birth story.

madamefreckle · 09/06/2010 14:00

Oh Can'tSleep . What a mare for you!

Suzy1975 · 09/06/2010 14:05

bluesnowfalcon, theperfectbaguette - the grinding sensation and bladder (and bottom!) pressure I can identify with. I've just been to see the midwife and she says it sounds like work towards labour has already started.

Thanks madamefreckle, that makes me feel better. I declined the sweep in the end and think it was the right decision.

Hope things are going well for everyone!

LaTrucha · 09/06/2010 14:36

CSWS - That's really poor timing for you. Just when you need more of a hand. Is there anyone who can step in to give you a break?

And yes, it definitely applies to DD too. In fact, we'd asked about her behaviour because she's being deliberately naughty at home and wouldn't meet our eye when we asked her about nursery yesterday, so we thought she'd been up to something there!

I've pulled myself together about the referral now, thankyou. It could even be something like a blocked milk duct. Did have a quick cry at the Archers today though, which I think has done me good!

greensnail · 09/06/2010 15:09

GinaFB - nice to hear from you. Hope all's going well for you.

CSWS - yes, you're right. Being a nurse does help with that kind of thing. I've had my hand up more adult bottoms than I care to think about over the years, so my own daughter's doesn't worry me at all. I do worry that DH will decide to tell that story to embarass her during the teenage years though, probably when she brings her first boyfriend home!

LaT - the recline position sounds great. I think I probably ended up doing something similar with DD1, but will definitely be trying it with Alice to see what happens. Maybe it will help her on her less preferred breast. Hope all goes well with your breast specialist, sounds like GP is just being cautious, which is good as its better to make sure.

Saucepanman - sounds like you and Gabriel are doing great. Alice is also still jaundiced but no one here seems worried. DD1 took several weeks to clear hers too. My bleeding also keeps starting and stopping, hoovering always seems to trigger it for me too!

Hope everyone who is overdue isn't feeling too uncomfortable. Today would have been Alice's due date but I'm very glad I haven't been carrying her all that time!

fillybuster · 09/06/2010 15:53

Sounds like all the 'out' babies are doing really well, and all of us with 'in' babies are very much looking forward to joining the 'out' crowd!!

Not much sleep here, and mad nesting going on, but otherwise fine (caveat: I include constant back-ache, hormonal madness, braxton hicks, uncomfortable baby-wiggling, pressure on bladder, sciatica and piles in the definition of 'fine' for the time being...)

So far today I've surived the school run (one of my most hated tasks at the moment, as everyone is always in full makeup/fashion), then my MIL collected DD, and so I've had a lovely quiet productive day: I've baked 2 loaves of bread by hand, 2 fruit cakes, 2 nigella sponge birthday cakes and a big tray of shortbread biscuits - all for dh's surprise tea party on Saturday. Slightly concerned that it might rain as there appear to be loads of people coming, all with small children, which is completely fine if they're mostly in the garden and an awful lot more work if they're all indoors!! Not much point in worrying about it now, right??

DD home soon - I should take her swimming (would be good for me too!) but I think we'll just chill out and make a birthday card for daddy until we go to collect DS from his post-school playdate at 5.30

bluesnowfalcon · 09/06/2010 16:21

Thanks for all the comments guys sounds as though we are all experiencing the same things - bubs has definately been more wriggly today so that has helped put my mind at ease!

Suzy sounds like good news then! Can't wait to see my midwife on Sunday to see what she has to say about him.

Theperfect Suzy's comment sounds positive about the grinding and pushing on the bladder front! Hope the pain in your hips eases for you.

Keepingmum I know what you mean it is more wriggly than before and less definate kicks but have seen my belly moving on and off all day today so taking it that he's alright in there!

Hopefully not much longer to wait for these babies now and then we can all hold them and see them move!

myhandslooksoold · 09/06/2010 16:21

Hi all
RE sweeps, I was practically begging my MW to do them for me (DD1 14 days over and DS 9 days over). Bit about it now. They got some small rumblings going but never really amounted to anything TBH. That won't stop me begging for one again this time as I'll do anything to get this baby out. They weren't really painful.

CSWS I totally sympathise it is really stressful not to have another adult in the house for help/comfort in these last days. I am on my own for 3 nights every week. I went to bed feeling a bit alone and nervous last night- scared in case anything happens in the night- and was relieved to wake up this morning with nothing having happened in the wee hours.

Lots of pressure down below so hoping baby's head is well down and ready to go.

PS My poor DD1 has got a sore fanjo. I've booked a dr's appointment but can't get in till monday. Wondering if it could be thrush? Anyone elses DD's had this?

MonkeyMargot · 09/06/2010 16:43

Oh dear CSWS. Really feel for you being on your tod at this late juncture. Is there someone who could lend a hand, your mum maybe?
LaT good you are getting your nipple checked out. Sure to be nothing but always worth getting these things checked out to be on the safe side.
Filly you sound so domesticated with all your bread making and baking. Are you in fact Nigella's secret sister??
I've had a day with nothing specific to do today as DD out all day - managed to do some washing, err, have a sleep for an hour, and have another pedicure! So not really all that productive.

Anyone here love Scrabble? On my last antenatal thread lots of us really got the bug (online on FB) - so let me know anyone who fancies a game! I played lots of online Scrabble whilst in (slow) labour with DD, in the middle of the night. Got me through it.

Summerhols · 09/06/2010 18:12

Hi All

Just wanted to say I am VERY impressed fillybuster at your baking, I have promised to make a cake for my DH since I have been of (3 weeks now) and failed misserably. I am a poor excuse of a wife! So your list is amazing.

CSWS I hope baby comes on DD so that your OH is about, what a stress for you!

Well I had a home visit from my midwife today as been signed off from consultant led which means can go for home birth, very about this. The visit was really nice and I have to say I have had brilliant care from her.

bluesnowfalcon - your description is very simular to how I am feeling at 38+6, the worst is when I get a jab in the ribs from a foot, knee, elbow???? Lovely to know baby is moving but wish it could be a little gentler to Mummy.

fillybuster · 10/06/2010 10:27

Oh dear, don't be too impressed at the baking, its my idea of totsl relaxation when the house is empty and I can just get on with it Of course I did then rather overdo it by making 14 portions of veg chilli at 8pm once the dcs were in bed, which was the final straw in terms of back-ache, energy levels and freezer space!! Fortunately DH is so used to me baking-as-leisure-activity that alarm bells haven't gone off and he isn't expecting a party on Saturday. I'm just relieved to know that there will be some freezer space free for 'real' food after that

It's actually his birthday today, so we did small presents and a birthday cake (fruit cake) at breakfast this morning....he knows he's getting the rest of his stuff on Saturday, but definitely won't be expecting another birthday cake - going to do a 'proper' one with custard cream filling and chocolate icing....mmmmmm.....

Oh dear, CSWS, that sounds incredibly tough - is there anyone who can help? Thinking of you - don't think I could cope on my own at this point so very impressed

LaT, you've reminded me to sort out my birth plan....apparently I need a page stapled to the front of my notes with "Birth Plan" as the title that just says "See page xx of notes" in capitals, which references the page where the consultant has written all her instructions Seems like my sort of birth plan

MW checkup this afternoon, then going to go for a swim and take dh out for sushi for dinner once the dcs are in bed. I was thinking of making jam this morning as I've got about 5 punnets of strawberries taking up space in the freezer but actually going back to bed for an hour whilst the dcs are both out of the house strikes me as a very good plan suddenly.....!

roundabout1 · 10/06/2010 10:48

fillybuster - wow am impressed by your baking & cooking exploits, know what you mean about it being relaxing if you have the house to yourself. Hope your dh has a great birthday.

csws - Hope your baby is well behaved & keeps to the due date.

summerhols - yay for the go ahead for the homebirth

myhandslookso old - my dd often had/has a sore fanjo have always been told it's just irritation. Tend just to put vaseline on it now as sudocrem etc used to make it worse. Hope for your dd's sake it's not thrush.

I was furious with dp last night, he's been very considerate the last few days but came home from work in a foul mood yesterday. Had his tea & then fell asleep on sofa til I sent him up to bed at 8 so I could sit down in comfort. He then woke me up at 1am getting up complaining that I was snoring so loud he couldn't sleep Did suggest his inability to sleep may have had more to do with the solid 7 hours sleep he'd just had which was more sleep than I'd had for months. He ended up sleeping on the sofa. Did take dd to school this morning though, think he expected to get a better reaction from me by doing this. I would have been really pleased if I hadn't have showered & dressed assuming I was taking her as he didn't say anything til the last minute Grr - men

LittleRobbo · 10/06/2010 11:31

Congrats LittleRobbo sounds like you had an eventful time!!!

Nothing much happening here - almost constant crampy tummy and back ache but nothing that's leading anywhere which is a bit frustrating! I suppose I am only 39+1 but I would just like to get on with it now - I'm sure 3rd pregnancies are longer than the previous 2!

MonkeyMargot · 10/06/2010 12:10

Congrats littleRobbo - love the name!!! Sounds like a nice rapid birth!!

JoKettle · 10/06/2010 12:31
