hello everyone!

i haven't been on since page 20 so apologies in advance for not catching up. if all goes well i'll scan through whats been happening whilst flashforward is on!

came out of hospital with Hannah May born on fri 28 at 10.15am weighing 5lb 7 1/2

am i allowed to say she's gorgeous

the elcs went ok although i completely wimped through them getting the local anesthetics in before the spinal block, but we managed and she came out fine if a little under cooked and covered in vernix.

was supposed to be 39 wks but i suspect she was less.

haven't been able to bf again this time had planned on mix/pumping but been advised against it due to poss pass on infection. i get eczema literally every where. she is doing ok though.

DS is completely mad at the moment, totally hyper but trying really hard to be gentle. i think the novelty will have worn off by next week. he's not impressed tht she doesn't want to play cars or footy

will try catch up with the rest off thread soon x

madamefreckle · 31/05/2010 22:22

Horray bump! Congratulations and welcome Hannah May! I've been wondering if you had some news for us. Sounds like she's small but perfect.

LittleRobbo · 01/06/2010 08:24

Many congrats bump on the birth of Hannah May! I suspect my DS will also be disgruntled that our new addition will be uninterested with footballs and cars lol

NizzyNoodles · 01/06/2010 08:31

Congratulations bump on the safe arrival of Hannah May - lovely name!

Summerhols · 01/06/2010 09:59

Welcome Hannah May (lovely name).

Also wanted to point out that it is now officially JUNE.

Though I am sure everyone is very aware of this

LaTrucha · 01/06/2010 10:24

Congratulations on the birth of Hannah May! You'll have to change your name now Bump!

In the end, DH must have read the mesage I posted here as he decided to take time really off and spend it with DD and me. He didn't even do the washing up! We both feel much better for it.

Feeling very emotional that this is my last few weeks with just DD and very emotional that our new baby is coming. Just a very nice emotional mess at the moment! I almost cried today as I told DD we had a new car seat coming from her she asked if it was yellow, and then pink and then red and I had to tell her, no it is black (full well knowing I got the black because it was £20 cheaper and now feeling very guilty) .

AND I've got a cleaner coming round today to give me a quote for a once-a-week once over - I'm so relieved even at the thought of having a cleaner. I hope he's got some time to do it. He's extremely popular round here.

Hope you ladies have a happy rainy day (at least it's raining here).

JoKettle · 01/06/2010 11:02

Hello everyone - may I join? Long time lurker on this thread but as I've been lucky in not having many problems so far I haven't needed to ask for help (and as a 1st timer have absolutely no advice to offer!)Due 16th June.

goodname I'm hoping to deliver in the MW unit at Ninewells as well so it was lovely to hear your positive story about it.

Congrats to all new mums and good luck to everyone else.

NizzyNoodles · 01/06/2010 11:57

Summerhols that's scary as we are officially expecting babies THIS month!! Off to panic pack the hospital bag.....

Welcome JoKettle - glad to see someone else joining me and Flossie69 with the 16th as their due date!

georgee · 01/06/2010 12:17

Welcome JoKettle - this means that we have, what, five ladies north of the border?! Maybe we should consider a meet up (when all's calmed down, much later in the summer, of course ...)!

Congratulations bump, marvellous news about the little one, and lovely name too.

Did occur to me that it's now officially June too - although here they could leave you as much as three weeks before inducing so as my due date is 12 June I might even make it to July before the baby comes! (Although I really hope not!)

MrsAlwaysRight · 01/06/2010 12:28

Congratulations j0807bump on the safe arrival of Hannah May.

LaTrucha I was in floods yesterday about only having a few days/weeks left with just me and DD1. DH thinks I have gone mad just bursting into tears for no obvious reason - didn't bother trying to explain as don't think he'd understand.

Welcome to JoKettle

Have finally started getting stuff ready (probably about time as 39 weeks today!). I've washed the car seat and pram covers today. Just hoping I can remember how they all go back together again! Started packing hospital bag yesterday but haven't finished it yet. DD1 off to nursery this afternoon and I am hoping to catch up on some sleep, think I only got about 3-4 hours last night and I'm a girl who likes and needs her sleep!

Sunworshipper · 01/06/2010 13:17

Congratulations on the arrival of Hannah May bump.

Welcome JoKettle glad you've had a good pregnancy. It's worth a lot to hear a good story like Goodname's I think. All I hear are post natal horror stories about St Thomas's.

LaT I've just negotiated with my DH to keep our cleaner on for the time being. So worth it at the moment. Hope your guy can come through. Glad you had a lovely weekend with your DH.

Trying to get my head around the idea that this time next week I will be a Mum. Is anyone else finding it difficult to drop off to sleep at the mo - I don't mean from the physical discomfort but the minute I put my head down my mind starts whirling and suddenly it is 3am in the morning and I'm still awake.

Suzy1975 · 01/06/2010 13:41

Hi - great news about all the new arrivals! Keep 'em coming

Sunworshipper - I can't sleep at night either. Am awake for a good couple of hours (at least!) before drifting off. Then I'm up again for the toilet at least a couple more times. My head is whirling with all kinds of thoughts and emotions are veering wildly from complete excitement to feeling sh*t scared

Felt really rotten yesterday (so tired and arsey, spent most of the day in bed) and thought perhaps this is a sign!!! Feel alright today though, pah! Still, I have three more days to go until my due date but am beginning to suspect baby likes where he is and is going to be late!

dinosaurinmybelly · 01/06/2010 13:56

Hello -

a big welcome to the world for Fergus and Hannah May. Wonderful news that you had a good experience goodname - I'm really pleased especially as it is your first baby. Fingers crossed for the rest of us

I am now 40 +1 and seeing the midwife today, but have not even had a hint or a sign, so I'm expecting to perhaps go even further than my previous pregnancies with this little one (DS1 was 40+4, DS2 was 40+2). DH has arranged to cover the leave of someone at work from 4 - 11June, so would prefer me to deliver in the next 3 days - nice. His Mum is here at the moment, and he won't take his paternity leave until she has gone, so he is only concerned about being out for the actual birth at the moment.

Yes, we are now into June - very exciting...

Sunworshipper · 01/06/2010 13:57

Suzy that's it exactly. I can sympathise with how you were feeling yesterday. At one point last night I wondered if we were actually going to have a May baby after all.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/06/2010 15:05

Congratulations j0807. Agree that you've chosen a lovely name.

Welcome JoKettle .

Have arranged to see my consultant for an extra appointment on Friday so that he can hopefully sort out some ECV for me for early next week, before it is too late. Have any of the other breech babies turned yet? I struggle to believe that 4 of us will stay breech right until the end!

MrsDmamee · 01/06/2010 17:29

congrats to j0807 and goodname
and welcome to new babies Hannah May and Fergus.

NotGrownUpEnough · 01/06/2010 18:25

Congratulations to our latest new mums

CSWS - Still no movemement here and i'm 36weeks tomorrow. I have my midwife apt on thursday morning so hopefully will be referrred for ECV then. Starting to get panicy about it though.

LaT - Have you had any movement yet?

fillybuster · 01/06/2010 18:32

Back from growth scan and relieved to report that Fillyflump growth has slowed to 'normal' levels so its all a bit less scary than a few weeks ago.

Having said that, my emotional outburst at the mw 2 weeks ago obviously had quite an impact as she had lined up a consultant appointment and the option of an elcs if I was still as panicky as last time I saw her .

Even dh was impressed at how my (v sensible, clearly 'seen it all before') mw was somewhat thrown by my total blind panic! Oops.

Anyway, we've agreed that all is fine and there's no reason not to go down the VB route again, now that the critical things have been consultant checked/approved...and ltos of reasons to do so, including previously successful bfing, good uterus contraction etc etc. So fingers crossed for a 'normal' labour and delivery!

It all got a bit scary as we ran through the remaining dates/appointments and it was clear how soon my EDD actually is....but the hospital bag is now half packed, the nursery is basically ready and clean and I've sorted and washed all the babygros, sheets, towels etc. Still need to buy the presents from the baby for the dcs, and the presents from the dcs for the baby, but planning to take them to ToysRUs to choose something each to give the baby tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get in and out of there without too much 'nag' factor....

Hope everyones getting on ok, looking forward to lots more babies arriving soon

greensnail · 01/06/2010 19:37

Congratulations j0807 and welcome to the world Hannah May.

Very exciting that we're now in June, looking forward to hearing about lots more arrivals now.

I've been feeling rubbish today. Had sudden onset of severe abdo pain this morning. Was curled up in pain unable to speak and was freaking out a bit. DH called the midwife who came out to see me. She was great and very reassuring, told me lots of things it could be but and ruled out anything that needed very urgent attention. Have to see the GP tomorrow though as it may be a uterine infection. Feeling ok now but suspect my latest lot of painkillers will be wearing off soon.

Will be keeping my fingers crossed for those of you with breech babies that you'll get some movement soon.

whenwillisleepagain · 01/06/2010 19:49

Congratulations j0807 on the arrival of Hannah May.

I started the day feeling on top of things - DH went back to work, but the HV came for first visit and said how well DD was looking. Then it started raining and everything went down hill. The MW appeared for what I felt sure was last visit, but it turned out, albeit different MW, another set of scales, that DD hasn't put on any weight, so they need to come again on Friday. Have posted about how this made me feel on the bf section, and got lots of useful advice, but had totally forgotten how all this weighing and centile stuff grinds me down, and combined with my first day at home without DH, I ended up feeling rather worn down. Added to which, DS has come home from nursery and announced he doesn't like daddy, so bedtime is now going like a total nightmare of misery. sorry to whinge. Better go and deal with DS!

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/06/2010 19:54

Whereabouts was the pain greensnail? I discovered my gallstones shortly after giving birth to dd, as the pregnancy and labour had shifted everything about and made them flare up. I assumed at first that it was afterpains, and couldn't understand why no-one had warned me that they could hurt so much, but that was obv because they don't, but gallstones do! Anyway, if it is those, pain is usually high up (just under breast really) and on rhs.

LaTrucha · 01/06/2010 20:09

A day of aches and pains for lots of us it seems. Mine is not pregnancy related, but I have a thing which happens to my ribs - it's what I usually have to see the osteopath for - and it's happened again today. It's incredibly painful and makes life much more difficult. Thing is, I'd been hoping to avoid more money at the osteopath until after the baby is out as when I'm pregnant the effects just don't last (it usually lasts 6-8 months; it lasted two days last time while pg).

I just can't bear it though so I'm going to have to bite the £38 bullet yet again.

Whine over.

WWISA - I'm off to look at your thread as, believe me, I know how that feels.

Greensnail - that sounds very unpleasant. I hope it's not an infection.

Filly - good news. I'm glad you're feeling a little reassured.

CSWS / NGUE - I THINK the baby has turned back head down. I had a few very uncomfortable days when he was lifting his head up to turn transverse, but I spent a lot of time rocking on all fours as suggested on baby spinning and he seems to have decided life is easier head down. Hopefully, I'm right. Bump doesn't look tansverse either so I have my fingers crossed. On pictures from when I was pg with DD you can see perfectly before and after she turned transeverse - at 37 weeks. One more scan on 9th of June to check as far as can be checked.

Now, personal question: has any one of anyone's nipples noticeably changed shape? One of mine has and the breast feels tender. It didn't happen with DD so am a bit worried. Off to see GP on the 9th to check it. I made an appointment with a woman who I know has bf babies so I'm hoping she'll check properly and not just say it's due to lactation. It may well be due to lactation, but I want a proper check.

woofie · 01/06/2010 20:13

Congratulations jbump and welcome to little Hannah

filly - glad lo seems to be slowing down on the weight gain.

greensnail - poor you. Hope it's something easily treatable like a uti.

I've totally overdone it today- went to the national railway museum w ds and friends, and we got separated in the half-term melee, so spent ages wandering around looking for them. Consequently I'm now having my first spd flare-up for ages . It brought home how long everyone's had to put up with my (admittedly minor) pg complaints when I was talking to ds this morning about saving up money in his piggy bank for a toy or book that he'd really like. He replied, "Or I could save up my pennies to buy you some Gaviscon, Mummy" I think I'm finally moving into the ready-to-get-this-baby-out zone. Though it would be lovely to make it to our friends' wedding in Windermere on Sat

looking forward to more announcements this week

woofie · 01/06/2010 20:17

greensnail - should say like mild infection- wasn't meaning to wish chronic cystitis on you or anything [embarrassed] Hope you feel better soon anyway. End of a long day...

greensnail · 01/06/2010 20:18

CSWS - Gallstones did cross my mind as I believe they can be associated with Cholestasis, but the pain is much lower down. Will see what GP says tomorrow but am hoping its just one of those things and i'll feel better tomorrow. I've been feeling so well since Alice was born compared to how I was feeling when I was pregnant that its possible I've just been severely overdoing things!

whenwillisleepagain - sorry you've had a difficult day. Hope today brings better things for you too. I'm sure you've had great advice in the bf section. DD2 is going to be weighed tomorrow too and I'm worrying about it much more than I ever did with DD1. She just doesn't seem to feed with as much gusto as DD1 did, although she seems to be doing well apart from this.
