Hi all.

Am sh*tting myself about tomorrow. Not the baby bit, the CS bit. Don't think I'll get much sleep tonight.

NotGrownUpEnough · 24/05/2010 22:14

Good luck for tomorrow mampan, will be thinking of you!

NotGrownUpEnough · 24/05/2010 22:17

LaTrucha - i'm another one on the spinning babies website, as LO is still transverse. Spent half an hour earlier laying upside down on the ironing board hanging off the side of the bed. No movement but did feel sick for quite a wihile after, am going to give it another shot tomorrow though. Let me know if you find anything that works for you.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/05/2010 22:21

at the image of that NGUE. Though I really should be doing the same, as mine is still breech.

j0807bump · 24/05/2010 22:21

try and sleep mampam i am absolutly certain it will all go fine

will be thinking of you and your bouncing new arrival and hope you get an early slot!

poguemahone · 24/05/2010 22:24

Good luck for tomorrow mampam

Spinning Babies worked for me when this one was transverse a couple of weeks ago, so good luck with the inversions, LaTrucha NotGrownUp and imkeepingmum!

mampam · 25/05/2010 06:29

Hi just to let you know I'm feeling much better this morning

Take care of yourselves and I'll speak to you all very soon xxx

goodname · 25/05/2010 08:46

Congratulations to everyone who has had babies and good luck to those just about to.
Sorry have not kept up this weekend as have had guests from Australia staying. Its was lovely to see them but its rather lovely to have the house back to myself now.

Last week of work here now and am only sort of working this week.

I too was swelling up in the heat this weekend and sleeping was impossible. Was glad to have a cooler day yesterday although our australian friends thought they might die of pneumonia! I am so glad I dont have to be pregnant over the whole summer, think we have timed this rather well.
I also am finding maternity clothes are feeling too small. A larger friend has given me some which do fit but I am not keen on them. As I am due on Sunday, I definately cannot justify buying anymore. If I had three weeks to go filly I prob would, maybe just something cheap from ebay.
Right off to work now, hope all goes well on here and would love to see baby photos posted soon

greensnail · 25/05/2010 10:20

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't had chance to read, so don't know what's been going on with everyone else.

Just wanted to let you all know that I had a baby girl on sunday 23rd May, at 3.07pm. Her name is Alice Elizabeth and she weighed 7lb2oz.
We're both doing really well and got home from hospital yesterday evening.

I was admitted on saturday afternoon for induction on sunday. Was given the gel in preparation on saturday evening and had mild contractions overnight from that. Eventually went down to delivery suite at 11.30am for them to break my waters and start the induction properly. Waters broken just before 1pm and things kicked off properly, progressed quickly and Alice was born after just 2 hours of established labour.

Off to feed her now, back later to catch up.

AlwaysHopeful · 25/05/2010 10:50

Congratulations Greensnail and welcome to the world little Alice!

Sounds like everything went lovely and smoothly for you, which is great to hear.

Things in my house were a bit tense on Sunday with the heat and my DH being in a bit of a mood... must had been the weekend for rows with other halves. Too much heat, too little rest, too many hormones and too many things to do just take their toll, I guess. We're friends again now, though.

I think my freezer might burst if I try to cram anything else in, but I'm dertermined to get a batch of spag bol made up and then I think I might have to admit defeat!

No sign of a baby arriving here any time soon and now that the heat's faded a bit, I'm feeling much more comfortable in gereal, but like evryone else, I've pretty much grown out of my maternity clothes and am constantly wearing those of a friend who is a size larger than me. Don't know why I can't fit in the same clothes as I did last time because I've only put the same amount of weight on...

ItsNotOnlyTheGoodBits · 25/05/2010 10:58

Hi all, I've only posted on here once so hopefully you won't kick me out this time.

Congratulations to all the new arrivals and new larger families - it must be so exciting for you now that the little ones are here. Good luck to those who are imminent.

I had my scan yesterday to check the position of the placenta - it was quite low at my 20wk scan. Thankfully it has moved up so barring any mishaps everything is looking good. Mr. GoodBits is a little disappointed as he was looking forward to a CS - only to avoid the drama of Cost Centre 1's birth, back-to-back, very painful four day labour, culminating in a epidural and episiotomy. Why did no-one tell me earlier what a godsend the epidural is?! I would have taken it like a shot!

I need to have another scan on 9 June just to check the growth of CC2. At the 20wk scan CC2 seemed larger than the 'normal range' and now that the baby is within the normal range the sonographer just wants to check that the growth is normal and not slowing down. She is confident that everything is fine otherwise she would have called me in earlier.

I have a midwife appt tomorrow and will ask about the new MLU that has opened in my hospital. It is all becoming scarily real now.

NizzyNoodles · 25/05/2010 11:00

Congratulations greensnail on the safe arrival of Alice.

Quiet day for me today as both DDs at nursery all day so must try to get my hospital bag packed. TENS machine arrived yesterday so it's starting to feel real now. I actually think my bump may have dropped and just had a bit of a domestic house clearing up hour so both good signs - especially as I'm definitely not a domestic goddess! My close baby carrier that I won on ebay over the weekend has just arrived too so might have a bit of a practice with that later - if anyone has one are there any tricks I should know about?

On maternity clothes I'm lucky as last time I was pregnant I was due in September so I have some nice summery bits that still fit - my problem is that I only have one pair of trousers that still stay up! I can definitely recommend stretchy/floaty maxi dresses in the hot weather as they are nice and cool - also I've found it possible to buy non-maternity ones so will hopefully get some wear for the rest of the summer.

Midwife coming over for my home visit to make sure I can have a home birth again. Fingers crossed I get the green light as 37 weeks tomorrow so happy for baby to turn up anytime now!

Hoping that all the babies who are misbehaving and not putting their heads down sort themselves out - sending out lots of turning vibes!!! Good luck for the c-sections too!

roundabout1 · 25/05/2010 14:14

Congratulations Greensnail

  • Sounds likely everything went quickly & smoothly - love the name too.

nizzynoodles - hope you get the go ahead for the home birth

mampam - hope everything went/goes well for you today.

Everyone else hope you are all well & the babies in the wrong position are turning by themselves.

I am so glad it has cooled down, unfortunately still have elephantine feet which are sporting blisters from my sandals & flip flops so am wearing ugg boots as at least they are comfy & don't rub on my blisters.
When dropping dd off at school someone asked me if I was feeling worried about the birth, was so glad for someone to ask that as I am absolutely bricking it. Problem is since then I have been pondering over my worries and beginning to get more & more anxious. Think I must be a complete wimp

mampam · 25/05/2010 14:23

I have had a hideous pregnancy, shocking antenatal care and just to put the cherry on the cake I have been sent home from hospital because they "haven't got time to fit me in today".

Last week we were told that I was 2nd on the list and would be going to theatre at approx 10.30am, today it seems that I was 3rd on the list and when you are 3rd emergencies take presidence. I am "not a priority" apparently as I was the least risk. So I have to wait until Friday where I was told that I would be "top priority" so I'm thinking top priority over those who are more of a risk than me . But low and behold because I won't reach my due date until Monday I'm back to being low priority again To top it off, even if I go into spontaneous labour I was told that I still won't be a priority for an emergency CS.

What a waste of a f*cking day. We were up at 6am, left at 7am for our hours drive, childcare was arranged, DH had shifted his work around all for nothing. So we are going to have to sort it all out again for Friday for what could be another waste of a shitting day.

DH is so upset and the DC's will be too. DH is going to have to go into school early to tell them so he doesn't have a barrage of mums asking him and DC's overhearing them telling them that we've brought back the bump, literally.

Another 3 nights of sodding agony

mampam · 25/05/2010 14:24

Sorry forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS greensnail on the birth of baby Alice
