Boompi · 15/08/2005 09:53

That would be HOUR round trip!!

LadyLazarus · 15/08/2005 10:04

Boompi - yes I am having the same problem trying to lie on my left side, which makes my hip hurt! Keep sneaking a couple of hours on my right hand side, only to wake up feeling guilty and persevering with lying on the left!

If I go on my "first" date of 12th September, I am 36 weeks today . Keep having dreams every night that I am going into labour! Plenty time tho ...

Have just read in the 'pregnancy' thread that SingleTeenageMum has been having 'funny Braxton Hicks', so perhaps she is about to hatch!! No news from pooka either?

andif · 15/08/2005 10:34

Had best night's sleep for months last night - only up 2 or 3 times, then 6.30am. Only prob was horrible nightmare about dh leaving me for another woman - woke up in tears at 4.30!!! Feeling really big and uncomfortable now - due a month today!! Keep hoping I'll be early but know it's unlikely. Mind you, have already cleaned the bathroom today and am about to start ironing, so maybe the nesting thing is kicking in....

Kiwifruit · 15/08/2005 10:53

Andif - I had the exact same dream the other night, and woke up really upset . Poor DH was upset that I could even think such things!

Welcome to the thread Newchallengeforjen, and welcome back Raggletaggle (noticed that you are on the stats thread from ages ago, but haven't posted for ages...).

Saw STMs note on the pregnancy thread - hope she's OK!

Redhelen · 15/08/2005 11:04

Hello NewChallengeforJen

Sorry you had a poor night last night - after a good nights sleep on Saturday. Think we are all (well most) of us are finding sleep difficult - I can't remember when I last slept for more than 2/ 2.5 hours in one go! A good night is made up of lots of 1 or 2 hours (with gaps for the toliet, heart burn, cramp and bad back!)

On a very exciting note - my freind has had her baby - she was 41 weeks and baby Isabelle was born last night weighing 7'4 - can't wait to see them!

RedZuleika · 15/08/2005 11:35

Sorry - still smugly sleeping through the night. Am beginning to wonder if my bladder is three times normal capacity or something...

I'm hoping peanut is still cephalic anterior on the left side, but there was a bit of shuffling on Saturday. Not sure if it was registering outrage and discontent with the viciously spicy noodles I ate for lunch. Oddly, it seems to be pressing up towards my diaphragm more too - I'm trying to tell it that it's going the wrong way. It's getting lots of hiccups too (although again - perhaps that was the noodles and their aftermath...).

How do you tell when it starts to drop? Apart possibly from being able to breathe a bit better...

Hello NewChallengeforJen

LadyLazarus · 15/08/2005 11:49

mmm i could just eat some spicy noodles? did you buy them or make them yourself??!

Kiwifruit · 15/08/2005 12:04

Yum - spicy noodles sounds great, but think today they would have to be followed by a Gaviscon chaser !!

I've been having a few problems sleeping (hips aching, trips to the loo... oh the joy), but solved it the last couple of nights by banishing DH to the spare room - think a lot of my sleep problems are down to not enough room in our bed for the 3 of us... Don't think I'll get away with it every night though

mummyhill · 15/08/2005 12:16

Welcome Jen.

Sleep still elusive, managed to doze off about 1 to be woken up at two by DD and her wet bed, eventually got her settled back down at three dozed off at 4 to be awakened by alarm clock at 6. We have been to moms and tots this morning and am now trying to think of something cheap and easy to do this afternoon before she drives me insane with mummy where can we go, what can we do now??????

pooka · 15/08/2005 12:20

Still here LadyL! And fully expect to be for a while yet. Have been having peculiar BH as well - was very achy on Friday night, but think that was psychosomatic as dh away for the weekend and knew I had to make it to Saturday to hit 37 weeks and be considered term for home birth. Made it.
Sleeping absolutely terribly at the moment - up for about 4 hours last night. Perversely, could fall asleep in my lunch right now.
Would love to banish dh but we don't have a spare bed at the moment as in building work hell. He was at a stag weekend so came home knackered and ending up snoring most of the night - infuriating!

Speaking of braxton hicks. How many per day is everyone having. I feel like one big walking braxton hick at the moment.

Also I had 2 really strange ones yesterday. Kind of a short, sharp, tugging pain in what I would guess was my cervix & vagina. Anybody else had anything similar?

Kiwifruit · 15/08/2005 13:42

Don't think I've had any Braxton Hicks yet. What do they feel like? Would I definitely know I was having one?

Katts · 15/08/2005 13:51

Yeah. You'd know. It doesn't necesarily hurt but your uterus just goes hard for a moment of so.

sarahhal · 15/08/2005 14:42

Hello all. Just back from a lovely week in Devon - can't believe that Moschops has had her baby already - congratulations Moschops family!

Despite a great week away am feeling awful today. Can sympathise with all the non sleepers but mine is due to excess stomach acid. Gaviscon is only providing a light relief so off to docs tommorow on advice of midwife to try to get something stronger. Am also having bad headaches and BP is slightly up so am trying to take it easy at the mo.

TBH am just not feeling ready for this baby. We don't have a spare room for him/her yet so are having to make do with a corner in our room and it just seems so different to when I was expecting DS and could do all the decorating the nursery etc. I am waiting for a big surge of excitement but am a bit worried it's not going to come. Anyone else know what I mean?

jessysmummy · 15/08/2005 15:02

Sarah - I know exactly what you mean. We don't have a bedroom for bump either. I feel so guilty for this little bump that it isn't having half as much attention as DD did. I'm desparate to go on a spending spree but we already have everything as DD is only 18mths. Almost hoping that this one will be a boy so that I will at least have to go out and buy some blue stuff.
Sorry to hear that a lot of you are suffering sleepless nights. You really could be doing with getting in as much rest before bumps arrive. I'm managing to sleep ok, touch wood. Putting that down to the fact that I'm constantly shattered as still at work. Unfortunately DD often refuses to go to bed when I'm more than ready. Luckily cramps seem to have calmed down a bit and loo visits are minimal.

LadyLazarus · 15/08/2005 15:58

Don't think I've had any Braxton Hicks yet either. Have been getting a few twinges at bottom of bump, but suspect it's more constipation! My bump does go very hard + tight sometimes, but no pain in it whatsoever, so doubt if that's a BH.

Katts · 15/08/2005 16:12

Lady L, that sounds like a braxton hick to me. Or at least what I'm calling a braxton hick. I've had them since about 20 weeks. But getting stronger now and pretty frequent.

ych · 15/08/2005 16:15

I get BH all the time, well I'm pretty sure thats what it is. My tummy is almost constantly solid now and I get tight crampy pains that are definately getting more uncomrfortabel.
Re sleeping positions:when I lie on my side at night, then wake up to go to the toilet, trying to physically get up is a nightmare. My bump aches so much, it's like an awful dragging sensation. I've been awake today since 3.45am, which probably exlains funny typing. I'm going to have a wee snooze now before DH gets in from work at 6pm.
Re funny dreams - I had one the other night where my DH told me I had made him turn gay!!! I was so upset I had to wake him up! He assured me though that this was not the case and that my new figure did not repulse him!
Welcome Ragtaggle & Jen.

Boompi · 15/08/2005 16:19

My BH dont hurt at all, just know Ive having one as feels hard and tight. Happen especially when walking. I am also getting some period like pains - last for a few minutes and subside. Anyone else getting these? Assume it something stretching. Just fell asleep for 2 hours, which if added to my 2 hour nap this morning means Ive done nothing all day and bet sleeping tonight will be impossible.

Katts · 15/08/2005 16:23

Yep. Periody pains here too.

YCH - know what you mean about trying to get out of bed. We learned a technique in yoga for getting up but it basically involves rolling over onto all 4's, then bringing one leg up under you. I can do it fine on the floor but it's impossible on the bed when you're trying not to wake up the person sleeping beside you.

ych · 15/08/2005 16:27

Katts - LOL at yoga idea, I could do with an industrial winch or something to try and get me up. End up using DH to try and hoist myself up, will try your method tonight, will prob end up pushing DH onto floor!

mummyhill · 15/08/2005 16:28

Katts - I have been getting those sharp pains you described and they are not funny, had them first time round as well though.

LadyL - Sounds like braxton's to me, not everyone experiences pain with them, it just depends on how high each individuals pain threshold is. I just find them a little discomforting sometimes.

We have just spent a lovely two hours in the park, playing on the swings, feeding the ducks and a little walk through the woods. I would like to go to sleep now but dd wants to know what else we are going to do today!!!!! Can't wait for DH to get home he can have her for a bit whilst i hide in the kitchen (allegedly cooking dinner) then baths and bed all round I think, lets hope i sleep better tonight though.

Katts · 15/08/2005 16:29

Yeah I usually resort to reaching one arm underneath the bed, grasping the bedframe and using for leverage.

Ok here's another one...anyone else finding it utter agony to sneeze? Anyone else really p*ssed off by the fact that EVERYTHING makes you sneeze when you're pregnant in the summer?

I swear I'm gonna sneeze this baby out.

mummyhill · 15/08/2005 16:31

My pet hate at the moment is being asked "haven't you had that baby yet?" FFS it will turn up when it's ready, the sooner the better the way i feel at the moment.

Katts · 15/08/2005 16:37

Mummyhill - as if the site of your still existent bump weren't confirmation enough!

A girl at work today is pissed off at me because she told me some story about how a pregnant lady on the train was rude to her this morning because she rushed onto the train and took the last seat. I OBVIOUSLY took pregnant lady's side. Now I'm an evil pregnant lady too. We're all out to get her
