SK,BRB, Olivia doesnt settle in the moses basket at night either...we put her in her baby chair..think she prefers it because it "cuddles" her

memorylapse · 08/05/2010 22:42

SK sorry to hear you are feeling emotional..

I keep feeling a bit miserable that we didnt really get any visitors and in fact my aunt and uncle live 40 mins away and havent bothered to see us, also DH's family (his dad, step mum and brother)..havent even sent us a card..even DM didnt seem that interested..feels almost like Olivia has been rejected

kateyjane · 08/05/2010 22:57

Congratulations Mustbemad and Alle, hormonalmum and heffa - beautiful names!

SK and ML - Love your beautiful photos on FB. Hope you both manage a bit more sleep tonight. Not looking forward to that bit, had forgotten about the earth shattering tiredness - don't think there is any other 'tired' that comes close!

Mollybob - Hope your DD is feeling better.

Pigley/pamelat - I have been very tearful and emotional combined with grumpy the last couple of days. DH bought me a new handbag today and we had tea at pizza express which has really cheered me up

MDM - Impressed at the quilt making

Sassles - I have washed all the new baby clothes, something I don't think I've done before, but it was lovely ironing all the tiny things.

Hollyoaks - I am also dreading the 'ring of fire', I remember it all too well, although there was also a feeling of relief that things were nearly over

alexw - Hope you're alright and that the induction has gone well and you are now cuddling your lo.

Moggmum - Glad you had a nice birthday

Well I saw the consultant's registrar yesterday, waited 2 hours and was with her for about 5 mins max! Felt very rushed through. She did a very quick examination and stretch and sweep (I think) Her only comments were that she could 'get a finger in' which I assume means about 1cm dilated??? She also said I had a bishops score of 5? which on googling means that my cervix is unfavourable? She then booked me in for induction on Tuesday when I'll be 37+2. (So 11/5/10 is D-day, it all feels very real now!!) That was all the information I was given - they were too busy on Sun or Mon. I think it's going to be a propess induction - has anyone else had this?? I've been induced once before when I was 2 weeks overdue, but they used prostin, which was very effective. Feeling quite unsure about everything now

Tomorrow is DD2's 5th birthday, so looking forward to a family party, hoping the rain stays away so she can ride her new bike

Not having the best night, as I reached down to pick up DD's present to wrap there was a massive bumblebee underneath it and got stung on my finger Still feeling in shock and a bit shaky - have never been stung by a bee before. The baby has been going mad eversince, so think it feels shocked too.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday - looking forward to hearing more news.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 08/05/2010 23:26

Hello girls.

SK and ML - sorry to hear you've been feeling hormonal and emotional, I hope you both start to feel more 'yourself' soon.

Pigley, Pamelat, Tomlin, Kaffa and Squirt - I'll join you in the strange movements from LO club! Its current trick seems to be to do some kind of mexican wave. No idea what it's up to in there but, like yours Squirt, it stops moving the second I tell DH to look! It also seems to be doing something very low down with what I can only imagine (from its position on Thursday's scan) are its hands. It almost feels like it's tickling my cervix (sorry if TMI) - it doesn't hurt, just feels very odd / tickly.

Have had a lazy day today, just pottering around the house with DH. After doing all the little jobs we had planned, we couldn't be bothered to cook dinner, so had a naughty Indian takeaway. I've just had a nice soak in the bath and am about to go to bed. We've got an equally lazy day planned for tomorrow (unless LO decides to put in an appearance overnight!).

Gils - sorry your team got relegated - fingers crossed they come back up next season!

Question about nappy bins for disposables - has anyone used the ones that have a special cartridge of bags and sort of seal the nappies into sausages when you post them through the hole in the top? From the point of view of ease of disposal and reducing smells, are they worth the cost, or not really?

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 08/05/2010 23:30

X-post Kateyjane. Hope the bee sting clears up soon, I know how much they can hurt - I trod on a bee once with bare feet and got stung. I remember it being really painful. Although it was probably worse for the poor bee!

memorylapse · 08/05/2010 23:54

katey..ouch..that must have hurt..I guess when it stung you..because you got a shock..baby got a rush of adrenalin..it will calm down
exciting that you are being induced on monday..and the good news..your itching should stop as soon as you deliver

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 09/05/2010 01:25

Just a quick one as I should really be in bed. Had potentially my last midwife's appointment today and she found protein++ in my urine sample, so gave her another one but won't get the results til wednesday. BP fine though so she wasn't too concerned, said I might have a bladder infection.

She also said lo was 3/5 engaged, don't know if she'll stay there now or not, it felt like she was bobbing in and out the last couple of weeks, but my spd got suddenly worse so that was probably when she engaged. She's constantly forcing her head against my cervix now so I think she's run out of room. eek!

Katey hope you're feeling better after getting stung, I'm sure baby will calm down soon, it's probably just the adrenaline in your system.

Mdm I wouldn't bother with a nappy wrapping bin for a new baby, newborn poo doesn't smell bad at all (smells sort of buttery, if they're breastfed!) and by the time they start doing offensive poos you're unfortunately pretty acclimatised to the smell. Isn't motherhood glamorous?

30ish · 09/05/2010 08:33

MDM we had a nappy wrapping bin with DD1 and it just wasn't worth it! Much easier to use a nappy sack and pop it into the bin! We went away for a long weekend soon after DD was born and forgot to empty the bin. It wasn't very pleasant!

Thought labour had started last night - the pain was really intense. Decided to wait and see how things progressed rather than ring the maternity unit (CS booked for Tuesday) and went to bed. The change in position released my trapped wind . My DH found it very amusing! You'd think I would know the difference between labour pains and very bad trapped wind wouldn't you?

AnAngelWithin · 09/05/2010 09:32

morning ladies. Plodding on here. Made a big list of things to get done today. I am so tired and my hips are agony, but I have got this urge to make sure the trivial things are done. DS1 still has man flu Was having pains last night but they didn't come to anything. My boobs feel HUGE today though and harder and hurt
Inlaws came round yesterday. They bought me a new hoover which was nice of them as mine has totally had it. Need to use it now!! Will make the housework easier and a bit more interesting today anyway!

30ish lol, both are just as painful though!!

james hope the protein is nothing to worry about

MDM we have never had one of those wrappers before, using washables more than anything, but DH insisted on getting one this time. I think cos we know this will be our last baby, he has decided to go the whole hog and just buy everything to try it lol. As long as he doesn't decide to put my lovely washable tots bots in there!!!

katey i was stung on the back by a wasp when i was pg with dd1, she was hyper all day after that!!! Hope you are ok x

ML sorry you are feeling neglected. The trouble with the likes of me and you I suppose is everyone else just sees the event as 'another baby' I daresay we will get the same treatment, it was bad enough last time.

pigleychez · 09/05/2010 09:46

Re movement- Very odd isnt watching baby wriggle isnt it. I managed to video'd a little bit of baby moving last night and have stuck it on my FB page.

Pamlet- I too am not sure wether to be relived of not... Although kinda wanting something to happen now.

Tomlin- I too remember the bursting into tears. My parents were visiting, id been doing really well and then when DD started crying I suddenly burst into tears too! Totally the wrong thing to do with my mum!!! - Cue her panicking that i couldnt cope etc.

Kaffa- I feel the same.. dont really want to start anything significant as sods law baby will come then, but feel so bored with nothing to do!

Moggmum- Belated birthday wishes Glad you had a good day!
My friend ended up having her first last year on her birthday in August... This year though will be her 30th and her DD's 1st so BIG party!

Kateyjane- Fab DH buying you a new handbag
about the bee sting. Tuesday for you then- how exciting

MDM- lol on the mexican wave.. mine does that too.
Re nappy bins- Not sure if its still the same, but with DD we got a Bounty pack and in it was a voucher for a free nappy bin from Argos. We got this to try and have been using it ever since. This one

30 ish- I think with all theses aches and pains we get its very hard to distinguish whats real and whats not.

Angel- My boobs have been really sensitive and tender the past few days too, all tingly.

Well DD's playhouse was delivered bright and early this morning. DH is out there now preparing the spot where its going to go. Nothing planned for today so guess thats what we will be doing today. I know one little girl who will be very happy when its up and a big one!

MoggMum · 09/05/2010 10:14

BRB sorry you're feeling down now your parents have gone home - must be difficult with them being so far away.

Katey hope you recover from the bee sting - must have been a shock for you and baby! Good luck with induction on Tuesday

ML shame DH's family are neglecting you - I now how hurtful it can be as my DH's family (with the exception of his brother) have shown little interest throughout my pregnancy . Luckily my family have more than made up for it despite this being my parents 5th grandchild. Probably because they'd previously given up hope that I would ever have children!

Pigley enjoy building the playhouse today - sounds like great fun

We finally put Moses Basket on stand at bottom of bed c/w freshly washed new bedding only to find one of our cats snuggly asleep in it 20 mins later! Think we may have a battle on our hands!

brightredballoon · 09/05/2010 11:32

Morning

Just a quick one (sorry I am not replying to individuals more). Sorry if this is weird but does anyone want 3 packs of unopened maternity pads? I have stopped bleeding now and these are the thick ones, seems a shame to just bin them? Happy to post for free, just let me know if anyone wants them.

pamelat · 09/05/2010 12:57

Moggmum - Happy belated birthday

Angel, my boobs have gone sensitive too and bigger. DH asked yesterday whether he could take a picture of them , he was only joking, am normally an A cup!

To everyone else who feels grumpy and/or sick, I can only think it means that labour is imminent. Doesnt your body produce an extra hormone to kick start labour?????? I should google it really before posting randomly about it.

I had a terrible nights sleep, up six times. DD woke crying once, cat woke me twice, wee twice and then about 3am sudden pelvic pain when I tried to turn over. DH has been in the spare room for about 6 weeks so he got up with DD and let me stay in bed until 10am .. !!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent, a rare true lie in.

pamelat · 09/05/2010 13:00

"Your body needs to release oxytocyn to begin labour"

memorylapse · 09/05/2010 13:43

blimey BRB.you have stopped bleeding already..Im still bleeding 3 weeks on..beginning to wonder if it will ever stop

Carikube · 09/05/2010 13:44

Pamelat I hope you're right - I know that you need to release oxytocin but I wasn't aware that it included feeling grumpy. If so, I should be due to go in to labour any minute Still needing extra naps during the day, and felt really emotional this morning and couldn't stop tears escaping for no apparent reason. This had better be a sign....

memorylapse · 09/05/2010 14:09

carikube..that sounds quite positive...when I went into labour with DD1..I spent the proceeding day in a foul mood then sobbing like a baby

peakyispreggers · 09/05/2010 14:38

Morning ladies and new babies!
the sun has finally come out after a terrible weekend, so i might go out for a little walk soon.
Re mood and wriggly babies, I have been so grumpy and tired this weekend, and the LO is getting himself into allsorts of ridiculously uncomfortable positions, stretching his feet against my ribs i think.
Went to the midwife on fri and all ok with my BP and protein again, which is good (James - discharge can give you proteinuria too.
But she weighed me!! Not happy, as i had been hoping to be in blissful ignorance, and now this has added to my feelings of total loss of my own body. I know i might be being unreasonable, but it made me feel really upset, I have put on 18kg, and she said "weeeeell, its not tooooo bad" in a way which made me feel like the biggest whale in the world. New stretch marks on my thighs not helping either. Sorry to moan about such a silly thing, but seems massive today. Anyone else, or just me?

AnAngelWithin · 09/05/2010 16:49

urgh... so shattered now!! FIL came round to cut my lawns and weed the garden bless him so I helped him do that til 1, then he went home for dinner then came back at 2 and took 3 kids out til 4.30. DD1 decided to stay with me (i think she realised she could get mummy time!!) so we whizzed round the house tidying up etc. I took the masking tape off the wall in the bathroom (that i've been asking DH to do for daaaaaaaays!) and it ripped all the paint off so I touched up all the paint as well, dd helped me bring all the paint tins back down, i tidied all the bedrooms, bathroom, and tha landing (which was full of decorating stuff and clothes!) sorted all DHs clothes out so now (because they are folded) they all fit in the drawers instead of overflowing everywhere! Just finished hoovering and polishing downstairs now, just having a cuppa before I start the kids tea and bath them ready for school tomorrow.

My back and hips are screaming at me now!!!

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 09/05/2010 17:59

wow angel, you sound really organised! try to have a rest day tomorrow, never know when you might need your energy. Having said that I was out digging the garden earlier to try and stop the weeds taking over.

Funny people should be mentioning being in a foul mood/crying - that was me this morning! Ds was doing everything he could to stress me out and I got angrier and angrier, couldn't shake it off at all and then I burst into tears, woke dp and shouted at him etc, felt really sweaty and shaky actually!

I did wonder if it was just one of those things in late pregnancy or whether it was some kind of sign that birth may be imminent. I guess we'll see. Maybe I'm just a horrible grumpy cow.

Carikube · 09/05/2010 18:44

Hmmm - grumpiness and tears seem to have faded here but that might be more because DH bought me strawberry milk and crisps as a surprise treat when he popped out earlier so I'm less inclined to snap at him. Also I feel a bit sorry for him as DD is spending a lot of time practising standing up and whilst he was trying to nap on the sofa she kept popping up between his legs and headbutting him where it hurts

Hollyoaks · 09/05/2010 18:51

Evening, finally started nesting . Cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom including all the cupboards inside and out and the oven. Dusted and tidied the living room, sorted the garden and the ironing pile is nearly gone, would have been done if I hadn't run out of hangers. Did a full Asda shop and printed out the last few pics of my memory card and put into album so its free for the hospital pics. Must have rubbed off of dh as he is now outside tidying his van.

Also had a lovely afternoon in the garden as weather is lovely here, cleaned out the rabbit and had a nice soak in the bath. Hope this is the beginning of the end.

Moggmum - glad you had a nice birthday.

Sorry for no more personals, it seems after a quiet day yesterday the thread has gone into overdrive again and I can't keep up. Hope to read another announcement soon.

pamelat · 09/05/2010 20:03

peaky I have put a bit more weight on than I thought, almost 3 stone most of it in the last few weeks but trying not to worry. i dont even feel particulary big, just heavy

My midwife has never weighed me.

Hope everyone ok, I find that by lunch time I am ready for a nap but that DD no longer necessarily needs one. By 5pm I am ready for bed, fortunately with no lunch time nap DD is also winding down.

However tonight am having to do a stupid uni essay, its not due for a month but want to get it in before the baby arrives.

pigleychez · 09/05/2010 20:24

BRB- Thanks for the offer but i think im pretty well stocked Im sure they will come in useful for someone though.

Pamlet- Lucky you with a lay in!

Peaky- your feeling bad about your weight gain. Worry about it after the birth! I have deliberately been avoiding the scales and too would prob be horrified if the MW weighed me. In both my pregnancys ive only ever been weighed at the booking in appointment but in some countries its done at every appointment and they are very strict about weightgain.

Angel- Sounds like a busy day.

Carikube- Strawberry milk and crisps --- Mmmmmmm!

Hollyoaks- Def sounds like nesting to me!

Well we didnt get the playhouse up today DH decided it needed a decent base so has spent the day laying a concrete base for it which has had to dry. Wont get done till next weekend now. I will attempt to paint/stain the panels now before they get put together, if i get the chance.

Sorry to hear about everyone feeling moody and grumpy. I must admit to snapping at DH this morning too.

memorylapse · 09/05/2010 20:51

weightgain...I was weighed twice a week as they are obsessive about diabetic ladies weight..but for me it was like going to fat fighters..."thats another two pounds off!!"
