Hi all, just catching up with posts and checking in. Lovely to hear of people's scans and little beans all looking ok

RWD - I hope all ok.

I am pretty shattered and sick at the moment. Mainly continuous nausea, not actually being sick much. I look terrible - pale and spotty. Pretty sure people are already starting to guess at work having seen me looking this way once before. No-one's said anything though.

Yeurgh, I just remembered why I vowed last time round that I'd never do this again!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/05/2010 21:17

Mmm. Brown discharge now red, like period. And cramps. I'm not treking out to A&E at night, will just take it easy here and probably try to get a scan tomorrow. Thanks for all the good wishes!

emmaxmas · 05/05/2010 22:35

RWD- thinking of you - do hope all's okay and that you can get a scan tomorrow.

Nausea has been continuous for 6 days now- no being sick- just feeling horrific! Early evening seems to be the worst. DH has been great- came in from work yesterday with supplies of crystalised ginger and gingersnap biscuits (ate nearly all the biscuits in one sitting- oops!)

Got booking appointment scheduled today and first scan date for 15 June- seems like an age away! I am very impatient!

93pjb · 05/05/2010 22:38

RWD - I hope it all settles down over night and you get some rest too. Will be thinking of you.

I'm 7 +3 and starting to get a lot more sicky (especially when tired so clearly should really be in bed right now!) DD is being a little star right now which is great - reminds me that it really is all worthwhile.

I'm finding keeping it a secret really tough as all everyone keeps asking me is when we are thinking of having another one. I think when you are childfree it's a personal question but when you've got a 2 year old it's fair game apparently. I don't want to lie outright but being evasive doesn't always work...

PJen · 05/05/2010 22:44

RWD my thoughts are with you! Wishing you all the best! Let us know how it goes tomorrow... fingers crossed sweetie...

OnlyWantsOne · 06/05/2010 06:48

RWD really hope you're ok let us know as soon as you can, hopefully it will be nothing and just some "normal" bleeding.

Booking in appt today at 10am - and Im 9+6 - got some horrid cramps from time to time, don't know if they are just growing stretchy pains though.

Hope everyone has a good day

Hello! Well, the red blood was very short-lived, for now. It's gone back to occasional very dark brown stuff. And the cramps have gone again. However, fat chance of me going to EPU for scan - I just rang them and they're booked solid until tuesday! Not even for repeat MC sufferers, apparently. I have go via my GP in any case, and am off to see a locum in an hour to get her to book me an appt. EPU lady was basically keeping anyone who isn't bleeding to death at arm's length, and I understand they have to do that, but it's bloody frustrating! I still think if I went and sat in the EPU today until they closed at 2, I'd get someone to scan me if only to make me go away, but with DS it's not ideal.

mumatron · 06/05/2010 08:58

rwd how are you this morning? hope everything works out for you.

well, im just having a quick tidy up while waiting for mw to come. we are like old friends now i have booked in so many times!

scan tomorrow evening. cant really get excited about it tbh. im sure i will be a bag of nerves when im there though.

hope everyone else is doing ok?

Persnickety · 06/05/2010 09:19

RWD, oh that sounds like good news. Am glad to hear cramps are gone and back to brown. Take it easy, lie down, ignore screaming toddler (within reason).

Where are you? If you are anywhere near London, I would highly recommend Fetal MEdicine Centre for a private scan. They are fantastic. HAve never had to rush in for an early scan. But, have had two nuchal scans there and they are fab (in fact the guy who runs the clinic is the guy who pioneered the nuchal scan).

www.fetalmedicine.com/fmc/

I am now on the hunt for petite maternity work trousers. Any ideas?

mumatron · 06/05/2010 09:43

rwd x-post there. gladd you are feeling a bit better. my local epu is exactly the same. nightmare isn't it?

JodieO · 06/05/2010 10:02

Reshape how are you now? Do you have any other epau's in the area? I've been to different hospitals with different pregnancies so you might be able to get a scan elsewhere. If London Create health www.createhealth.org are fantastic, I've been both there and the fetal medicine centre and I much prefer create health. Fab staff there and the professor is lovely and reassuring.

I paid £100 for my scan 2 days ago and I booked it on the morning of the scan, I went to the birth company in London, Harley st.

heading4home · 06/05/2010 10:06

Very exciting day for me today - off to the OB/GYN for my first appointment and scan So excited and nervous.

Someone brought their 12-week old baby into work this morning to say Hi. Adorable, but I have completely forgotten what to do with babies! My daughter is 6 now and it seems so long ago. I couldn't remember how to hold a baby or anything. Funnily enough as soon as I took her she started rooting around in my boobs looking for food . I must smell good, or maybe she just thought "Wow look at the size of those"!!

Took day off work yesterday and slept away the afternoon. Wonderful. Feel like a new woman today and the constant headachey-nauseous feeling has eased massively and I'm not even wearing my seabands for the first time in weeks. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel? Will be 10 weeks on Sunday.

Hopeful Wow I am impressed by your 20 mile walk! I'm exhausted now just walking to the post office and back!

RWD Hope everything continues to be ok.

wholelottalove I also look spotty and crap and my belly is growing. Can't believe everyone hasn't already guessed!

Everyone else Have a good election day! [waves]I had better get back to work...

MrsSnaplegs · 06/05/2010 13:00

Hope everyone is OK and things are settling down somewhat. Thought MS had started to go as felt quite good yesterday but back with a vengence this morning. Really don't want to be here at work but can't really go home as I have work to do and we have a VIP visit this afternoon. May see if I can go straight after that. Day off tomorrow to look after DD as hubby has to drive to B'ham first thing so should be easier, makes it a nice short 3 day week as well.
Have had to think about moving into maternity uniform fairly soon as my bump seems to be huge already - work trousers really uncomfortable now.
Oh well enough from me - look after yourselves everyone - better do some work!

Mrs S

Persnickety · 06/05/2010 14:55

So glad I'm not the only one uncomfortably squeezing into work trousers. But, I am in denial still. They can't be too small yet. They just can't!

mumatron · 06/05/2010 15:25

i can belive how big i am already i am living in leggings ang baggy tops. i look at least 5 months gone already im only 6+wks.

anyway, all booked in with mw. have a scan at 10 weeks. not the 9 weeks i hoped for but there we go. i also wont get a 12 wk scan but i think if i get to 10 wks i will be happy to pay for my own 12wk one. only prob is i didnt want to go to the normal antenatal clinic. i dont think i will cope well with being told bad news and having to come out and see all the other happy parents to be.

off to have a nap now, off work today as its dd's 6th birthday. had a mega busy morning and we are off out for a meal later to celebrate.

RaceyLacey · 06/05/2010 15:34

RWD - glad the cramps have gone & bleeding stopped.

I had my first "When's bump due?" today. She was a little shocked to say the least when I said December!

I've had a few good days since I've stopped eating cereals (milk makes me feel sick anyway so thought I'd see how it went cutting that out), just a nagging hunger type sickness in the background that I can cope with, just getting bored of eating now. Never thought I'd say that.

Still not heard anything from the mw. I'm 9+1 today. I hate the way they do things around here, although it's a lot better than it was when I had the ds's as you had no contact then whatsoever until about 14wks. Hopefully should hear from her in the next few days as she said she would do the booking in appt at 10wks.

Well off to see what a disaster my flapjacks are and crack on with making chicken nuggets for dinner.

JodieO · 06/05/2010 15:52

Persnickety I'm struggling too

mumatron I mainly live in jeans or trousers and tops but they are all tight now and my boobs are bigger already and I'm 6+5....I'm going to need to buy some more mat clothes already as it's too cold really for the dresses and stretchy skirts that I have. Do they offer nuchal scans in your area? If so then you would get another scan as 10 weeks is too early to have one iirc. Hope your dd is having a lovely birthday.

Racey I'm still feeling like eating all the time, I wish I didn't! I am glad not to be feeling sick though, I'm quite phobic about it :/ Hope the flapjacks turn out well.

Anyone else knackered all the time? I'm already exhausted today and wanted to stay up to watch some of the election tonight but last night I was lying on the sofa by 8.30 and barely managed 9.30 before giving up and going to bed. I just feel so washed out. I'm still getting some cramps on and off but I'm thinking they're just normal and trying to rest when I can. The dcs have been so well behaved lately, which is a blessing right now that I'm grateful for.

mumatron · 06/05/2010 16:07

not 100% sure tbh jodie i think they used to but im sure mw would of known 10+ weeks was too early. we shall see anyway.

she altered my edd to the 26th dec but thats based on 28 day cycle and mine is more like 31-32 so i will be sticking to the 30th for now.

JodieO · 06/05/2010 16:12

I've just looked and you need to be 11 weeks to have a nuchal scan, too early otherwise and it won't be doable. I had one with all three of mine and thought 10 weeks was too early. 11-13+6/14 weeks is the time it's supposed to be done at.

crazykat · 06/05/2010 16:18

I've given up trying to wear some of my 'normal' clothes and bought some really comfy maternity trousers. My jeans still fit (just) but they are so uncomfortable at the moment even though I usually live in them. Will probably be dying to get back into them by august though.

Managed to find some pretty maternity bras too - hate the basic black/white/nude ones. I just wish I'd had them last time coz they're really comfy. Am obsessed with being comfy lately - poor DH must be sick of seeing me in pyjamas.

mumatron · 06/05/2010 16:18

well i'm sure they checked it at my previous scans with dc but on my notes its just called a dating scan so maybe they dont do it? will check with gp tomorrow.

JodieO · 06/05/2010 16:37

crazykat A lot of mine are awful too, fine everywhere expect the buttons are hard to do up now! I'm wondering if it's all the food though lol. Not put any weight on yet though. I thought about some new bras but my boobs are growing quite a lot and quickly so I think I'll hang on and just wear my old ones for now.

mumatron In my previous area and here in Cambridge they combined the dating scan and the nuchal scan, so they made sure the dating scan was at the appropriate time, so that the nuchal scan could be done at the same time. With dd they weren't offered on the nhs so I paid for one. If they are available in your area and you're too early then I assume they'll just make you another appointment for when they can do it. You can probably check online if your hospital does them.

LittleSnoo · 06/05/2010 16:55

Hey all,

RWD - thinking of you, best of luck.

Have my booking appointment tomorrow. Excited to be finally getting some attention from the medical community. I had a phone call from someone calling herself a pregnancy support worker today saying she will be at the appointment tomorrow. Has anyone else heard of this type of thing, I didn't realise it existed?

I had the novel and edifying experience of being sick at work for the first time. I've started only going in for the afternoons but had to go in this morning for a meeting and was promptly sick. Funnily enough I'm only sick after eat something healthy like fruit, veg or oat cakes, but completely fine after cheese, chips and chocolate.

Persnickety · 06/05/2010 16:59

"pregnancy support worker?" No idea what that is. May she follows you round and holds your belly up when it gets too big, hence "supporting" your pregnancy.

Firsttimer2010 · 06/05/2010 18:51

Please can you remove me from the pregnancy list, I had another scan this morning followeing bleeding on and off for the last week and there was no heartbeat. Sometimes things are just not meant to be.

Good luck to all the rest of you Dec ladies and hope everything goes well.
