Hi all,
Hope you are all okay... I had shooting pain today (stabbing pain but would go away afte 2-3 seconds!!) and went to AE... had to wait for 3 hours in AE for the consultant to tell me that the ultrasound people are not working today and I need to go back again tomorrow... Can't wait for tomorrow to come and am praying that the little peanut is doing well...

I haven't had MS in the last 3 days and not sure if it is because of the acupuncture rist I am wearing or it is an omen sign of something going wrong?! Very worried...

DuelingFanjo · 04/05/2010 08:30

Hope everything goes ok today PJen.

heading4home · 04/05/2010 08:38

PJen - I really hope everything is ok. Thinking of you today.

crazykat · 04/05/2010 09:02

PJen hope everything goes okay today.

Mimi1977 · 04/05/2010 09:43

Hi all,

Can I join you? Not dared join before as I got a really weak positive on my test (I know a line is a line!!)and a not pregnant on the digi test and I was worried it may be a chemical pregnancy. Anyway, I've reached 7 weeks and had an early scan on Saturday and saw the little heart pumping so I'm allowing myself to get excited now!

Second baby and due around Dec 19 (not too sure of dates)

Starting to feel really sick too. Hit me on week 6 with DD1 and got it so bad. Not too too bad at the moment but having to eat to keep it at bay(eating didn't work last time!) so sure I'm going to be the size of a house.

RaceyLacey · 04/05/2010 10:27

Morning, hoping everything goes ok for you today PJen.

JodieO - how are you?

DF - I've always been told no underwiring and with previous pregnancies have been told off by the measuring ladies for wearing an underwired bra, but I find it really difficult to find non-underwired ones. I have bought a couple of cheap non-underwired ones from asda, but really can't bring myself to wear them.

WLL - think I may try some Werthers, even if it's just an excuse to eat them! The things that work for me seem to change every few days. Some things work for about 3 days or so, then I must get used to them or something as the next time I try to eat them I gag on it. .

I was almost sick in asda yesterday (OK so that place is enough to make anyone sick at the best of times!). Stood at the checkout ready to run, threw some wagon wheels at the lady paid for them & looked like a right fat pig shoving 2 of them in my mouth while dp packed the shopping . Apparently I was very green and dp was already moving out the way to let me run!

Dp said yesterday that he doesn't want anymore. Thank god for that! As I didn't want to let him down if he ever said he wanted another one. I don't know how you do it, those of you who have suffered with sickness before. Hats off to you that's for sure.

Anyway I have a pile of washing that won't put itself in the wardrobes so I best get myself upstairs while I feel ok.

satsumasarenottheonlyfruit · 04/05/2010 10:30

Hi can I join? 8 weeks pg after over two years trying and due mid Dec. Had bleed last week which was pretty scary but had scan and there is a heartbeat and good measurements so still anxious but trying to be optimistic.

chloesbaby · 04/05/2010 10:51

PJen I hope everything is ok for you today. I have had some odd sensations - not quite the stabbing you describe - more like aches, and have been told this is fairly normal, as everything is developing so quickly down there.

MS bad today, but toast with loads of hummous seemed to calm it down wierdly!

Think boobs are already developing stretch marks - have been frantically plastering moisturiser over them. Has anyone tried Bio Oil? Is it just a marketing gimmick or does it really work?

Persnickety · 04/05/2010 11:29

Oh, good luck PJen. Sounds very stressful. But, also sounds like it could be the pain of things growing and stretching. I quite off get a sort of shar twinge when I twis or stretch in certain ways. But, of course, will keep looking here for your good news.

Welcome, new joiners. Feel free to wonder over to the stats thread and put your information down if you haven't already.

I can't believe how many people are on this thread. I though for sure I was the only one foolish enough to have a baby on Christmas. DH's birthday is just before Christmas and he is now all worried that he might have to share his birthday.

emma2617 · 04/05/2010 12:35

Hiya ladies,

I am just popping in briefly with an update as with all the stress I am taking a little break! Had a scan today which showed an enlarged yolk sac, not sure what that means, but I am back in 2 weeks for a follow up scan. There was a heartbeat though which is surely a good sign.

Thinking of you pjen hope everything goes okay for you today!

Hope you are all okay and thanks for the mesages over the weekend...had a lovely time at my mum and dads its just rubbish to come back to reality with a thud!

PJen · 04/05/2010 14:03

Hi girls,
You are all so nice. None of my friends know that I am pregnant so it helps so much to have you guys to chat with. Thank you emma2617, Persnickety, chloesbaby, RaceyLacey, crazykat, heading4home, DuelingFanjo for all your best wishes and thoughts.

Yes the peanut is still okay. They saw hemmorhage in one of my ovary and mentioned that could be the possible source of stabing pain. I still have pain but it is not as bad & good to know that the peanut is growing within range. I was so scared... so scared that I prayed last night after years! UCLH staff have been really understanding and nice to me! I felt guilty to be there constantly nagging but they seem to take my problems seriously...

chloesbaby I am using bio oil too. A friend swears on it but who knows if it really works?!

RaceyLacey give motion sickness band a try. It has reduced my nausea a lot. I take it out for 2-3 hours and then the MS hits back and I have to put it on before throwing up...

Again thank you all for your messages xoxox

angelsw12 · 04/05/2010 14:06

Hi all,

How is everyone? Haven't been on for a few days, moved house pver the weekend so am feeling pretty shattered now. Just hoping I haven't overdone it.

Finally got my booking appointment which isn't until 27th May - I will be 12 weeks by then. God knows when my scan will be. I wish it was sooner as my symptoms have become a lot less and like JodieO and some of the others I am worrying.

Velvetcu I could also do with some bra advice. I bought some non-wired maternity bras from M&S (yes they look horrendous) and my boobs are virtually out of them when I wake up. Perhaps they are trying to make a break for it....don't blame them.

Anyone know of good bras that are not too restrictive but keep them in?

RaceyLacey · 04/05/2010 14:43

Hi glad everything with baby is ok PJen. I tried the travel bands and had to take them back as they didn't touch the nausea whatsoever, all they did was hurt & cut off circulation to my hands! Glad they are working for you though.

Emma - glad you had a good weekend with your parents. At least you had a bit of time to get away from 'reality' for a few days.

Persnickety - I feel like that too! Can't believe how badly we timed it. But as it took so long to fall pregnant with my boys I didn't expect it to happen so quickly this time (seems problem was with xp (not that I'm surprised by that)). I have lots of dates to avoid - my brothers is the day after my edd, he died when he was a toddler so really want to keep that date clear for my parents. Then 14th is dp's niece, 16th is my dads & 17 is mine! So if they want to try and induce me on any of those dates I'll be refusing point blank!

angelsw12 · 04/05/2010 14:53

Sorry to hear you have been having a hard time PJen, just read all the posts back - glad all looks ok now.

WhatWillSantaBring · 04/05/2010 15:40

PJEN that's good news - fingers crossed for your bean and everyone elses!

In the struggle to keep up appearances at work I went out and bought myself some sea bands at lunch. I'm desparately hoping that its them that's working and not just the fact that its afternoon and I got some fresh air at lunch. Now just trying to work out how to convince people the seabands are for RSI and not ms

Told DH that my ms was usually better in the afternoons and then had to put up with him laughing for half an hour. He refused to believe me when I said that calling it "morning" sickness was a bit of a misnomer as most women who get it, get it all day. But apparently he knows more than me on these things, so thinks I'm being silly!!

Wonder if the bio oil will work ... having got really bad stretch marks on my hips as a teenager and boobs in my 20s, I really could do without getting them on my tummy too. There really doesn't seem to be much to recommend pregnancy to me as a first timer - I'd love to be proven wrong!

DuelingFanjo · 04/05/2010 15:55

PJen, glad everything was good

emma2617 hurray for the heartbeat, it is a good sign as far as I know.

satsumas hello. I am at a similar stage to you and also had been trying for over two years - it's so scary isn't it?

Persnickety I somehow managed to time my due date to coincide with a visit from my MIL - it's her birthday and she lives abroad. She won't be staying with us this time and says she will rent a house but I am already hoping that I am very overdue so that she's not here when I am struggling to get to grips with a first baby, sleep deprivation and breastfeeding! I don't mind having a Christmas baby at all as by then I think she will have flown out of the country. She's a nice lady but I can do without the fuss.

I feel very guilty as so far I have had no morning sickness at all.

comtessa · 04/05/2010 15:57

Hi all, it's been a while since I've been on here but I've just hit ten weeks and the MS has magically disappeared (don't give up hope all you eight-weekers out there..). Feeling tired and taste buds are up the creek, but otherwise okay. Just a relief not to feel like crap anymore. Hope it passes for you all soon.

Also, for any keen walkers out there, I did about seven miles on Sunday, having not done more than about 4 miles since being PG, and got some weird pains/cramps in cervix/vagina. Called NHS Direct who were really helpful and, after going through symptoms (no bleeding or lower abdomen pains/period-type pains) told me I need to take it a bit easier for at least next few weeks.

Final thing! Bought Next maternity jeggings as could not longer fit into my skinny jeans - really recommend them as v.comfy, stay up, and more like proper jeans than Primark-type jeggings. Good with tunics.

Hope you're all well and getting over the sickness too.

xx

notso · 04/05/2010 16:32

Hello everyone,

MS is still awful, I think I'm going to have to go to the doctors and get signed off work for a bit, I had to leave a group of children in the middle of an activity to be sick, and then was loudly sick just as all the parents were coming in at pick up which was .
On the positive side I lost 5.5lbs on my first slimming world weigh in.

The midwife had just moved my booking in appointment from the 2nd June to the 14th, I'll be 13 weeks then, seems ages away from now, I'm 7 tomorrow. Scan is on the 9th June.

PJen, glad all was ok for you

comtessa poor you I did six miles yesterday with Dh and the DC, it really knackered me though.

JodieO · 04/05/2010 18:47

Pjen so glad everything was ok.

Quick post as I'm really knackered. I'll try and catch up properly later after getting the children into bed.

We managed to book a private scan in London for today (only booked it this morning!) so it's been a rush and a busy day. Great news though, we saw a heartbeat!!! Sooooo relieved. I have one at the hospital next week so hopefully baby will have grown properly.

The traffic was awful though, took 2 and a half hours to drive there and the same back. Dead on my feet now. Back later.

kiwi5 · 04/05/2010 18:58

ahhhhh, the sorest of boobs this morning, thought I was going to have to pull over on the side of the road to cry!

also, someone at work guessed i was pregnant, apparently my giant boobs gave it away. she was very lovely and helpful. first person other than husband that knows. was really lovely talking about being pregnant, just hope its not jinxed it.

spoke to my midwife on sunday, she sounds lovely, have my booking in appt next wed, hopefully find out about scans and stuff. i feel like i am a bit behind all you organised sounding ladies! I'm not quite 8 weeks, so still v early i guess.
take care all xxx

ReshapeWhileDamp · 04/05/2010 19:06

Comtessa - I got really quite painful ligament pains and period-like pains through my first trimester wtih DS, and have them on and off this time. A 7 mile walk would have killed me! Actually, I may have had mild SPD last time, as I couldn't walk more than 500 yards for months after giving birth without wanting to cry and lie down!

Underwired bras - not sure, I think there's some controversy about this. You're certainly not meant to wear anything constricting while your breasts are growing in pregnancy, because it could damage the growing milk ducts and reservoirs. But I've also heard, from bra experts, that if a wired bra is correctly fitted to you, and the wire doesn't dig in at all, it's fine. They just tend to tell you, in most shops, that underwired bras are the Devil's Own Invention for pregnant women, in case someone isn't correctly fitted. At least, that's what I've read!

FWIW, I'm in an underwired bra at the moment that I've been wearing for the last year of breastfeeding, and as it fitted me fine through that, I'm still wearing it now. Although it is getting a bit tight - maybe I'd better find a fitter soon...

rosietoestoo · 04/05/2010 19:15

Thanks for the advice re under wired bras.

I think Bio oil is a great moisturiser- ive used it for quite a while. not sure about the stretch mark thing, I think if you are going to get them there may not be much you can do...but we can but try!

Think I'm slowly starting to get used to being nauseous/vomiting constantly/regularly ...its still thoroughly unpleasant though!

Take care

ReshapeWhileDamp · 04/05/2010 19:21

I used Bio Oil religiously throughout my last pregnancy and it did absolutely nothing! Smells nice though and it can't hurt. Look out for promos on it in Boots, etc, since it costs a lot.

I have Stretchmarks From Hell - before they faded pale pink/silver, they were bright red and it looked as if someone had started a bonfire in my pubes!

MrsSnaplegs · 04/05/2010 19:26

whatwillsantabring You can also try cocoa butter - I think it was Ponds I used last time, less espensive than bio oil and very moisturising, no stretch marks at all last time and I know it is used to help heal scar tissue so must be reasonable. Might be worth a try

MrsSnaplegs · 04/05/2010 19:28

nope not Ponds - Palmers try this link www.superdrug.com/Body-Butter/Palmers-Cocoa-Butter-Lotion-250ML/invt/39818
