mampam · 28/04/2010 18:23

Hi all just a quick selfish post.

Been to see GP this morning re my palpitations and she said she thinks it could be a benign something something something or other can't remember what she called it and I've got to have a blood test and an ECG and if that doesn't show up anything then I'll have to have one of those 24 hour heart monitors on.
Hopefully it is just because I'm anaemic and GP also said that serious sleep deprivation can make your heart do funny things too! So I'll wait and see!

Also went to meet my HV today, she was lovely. Talked over my previous PND with her and she said I can always get a Homestart Volunteer once the baby is born, bit of a joke to me as I am a Homestart Volunteer but had to give up my current family because of all my pregnancy illnesses

bluesnowfalcon · 28/04/2010 18:25

Thanks meggy it helps to know I'm not the only one!

mampam · 28/04/2010 18:38

Hi again just thought I'd put a link to this post in Pregnancy as it's a fantastic story and definitely one worth following. The strength of this woman is amazing.

meggymegmegs · 28/04/2010 19:03

Ha, the john lewis ad got me too, I think
the song is quite a tear jerker (although it doesn't exactly take much) but can't remember what it is... Then again I also cried at some animal charity ad 'this donkey has just seen it's mother die...' cue me in floods of tears. I really must get a grip.

LaTrucha · 28/04/2010 19:11

MAmpam - That's a very moving situation in the thread you linked to. Puts puking every morning into perspective.

I didn't mean to sound off about the JL ad. DH and I watched it last night and we were gobsmacked at how awful we thought it was. I suppose thta means we found it affecting in a way too.

I've been FAR less tearful this time than last time. LAst time I cried at the drop of a hat - or at least the NSPCC ad. In fact, it was quite literally at the drop of a hat - I saw an old man on TV have his hat blown off and was in floods because he had to bend down and pick it up. It looked so undiginifed. I don't think I'll ever forget that!

LaTrucha · 28/04/2010 21:39

Ok. I am over-emotional. DH is watching his football team playing in the Cahmpion's League. They're losing and he is getting very excited. I want to cry. Please let them score in the next 30 seconds.

greensnail · 28/04/2010 21:48

I've been following that thread too Mampam. Amazing story, just hope it has a positive outcome.
Hope your palpitations turn out to be nothing serious.

I've just not been feeling right all day today and have been getting lots of braxton hicks. Can't shake the feeling that this baby may put in an appearance sooner rather than later. I should just try and get some sleep and hopefully I'll feel better again tomorrow.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 28/04/2010 22:18

Are you ready enough if it does greensnail? Fingers crossed the feelings have passed by morning.

I watch everything recorded on Sky+, so don't see adverts!

Fingers crossed too for you mampam, that there's nothing 'properly' wrong with your heart. I've had those 24 hour things twice. Worst bit is not being able to shower with them on!
Bugger re the childminding not being a go-er.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/04/2010 22:21

I think that I can feel a list cull coming on later this week too. Need to tidy it up before those babies start arriving!

Is it up to date with all newcomers Sargeant Major Gizmo?

NizzyNoodles · 29/04/2010 08:36

Hello All!

I'm sure I've missed loads as I've been a bit poorly (lurgy, sinusitis etc) the last couple of weeks so sorry that this is a bit of a me me me post - will try to keep up now that there's more time.

Well, I have now finished work so can start to think properly about this baby arriving even though I should still have 7 weeks to go.

Not organised in the slightest but hopefully we'll get DD2 into her bed this weekend, then I can make a start on organising the nursery and working out exactly what we need.

I have managed to hire my TENS machine - I used Boots as they've been good in the last 2 pregnancies although they seem to have a wider choice than previously. I went with the same machine I used before so hoping that will be ok.

Apart from that I've done absolutely nothing. Does anyone know a good list for what goes in a hospital bag? I'm hoping to not go to the hospital but I still need to have a bag just in case and I've completely forgotten what goes in it!!

Next MW appointment is in a couple of weeks and then I should have my home visit to check that the house is "suitable" for a home birth.

Hope everyone is doing ok, hugs to those that need one and welcome to any newbies!

greensnail · 29/04/2010 09:04

Thanks CSWS, I think I'm ready enough if it does happen. We have everything we need, although bag not packed yet - job for today I think! Obviously just a bit worried about how the baby would be at 34 weeks, but DD was absolutely when born at 36 so hopefully this one will be too. DH thinks its just because I know I'll be having an early induction, my body is getting itself prepared. Hope he's right and I'm not in for a long, drawn out induction that some of you have had!

I don't think the list can be up to date with newcomers, as I had to go back ages to look at it a few days ago. Sorry, I don't have the brain room to do anything about it though. Pregnancy brain has hit in a big way here!

Hope you're feeling better Nizzy

OP posts:
mampam · 29/04/2010 09:56

Morning all. Tried to post earlier but just as I was nearly done my computer switched itself off

I can't be bothered to re-type everything so the lowdown of my original post was this:

Hope greensnail's ok?

CSWS I was at you, as you seem to be nesting on this thread!! Wanting to get things organised.

And finally I was up half the night crying my heart out as I had really bad heartburn, couldn't sleep, felt like I couldn't breathe, kept peeing, was in pain, stiff and didn't know what to do with myself.

fillybuster · 29/04/2010 11:01

Thanks for the comments - I'm pretty certain this is the 'watery discharge' rather than anything more serious, especially as there's not much of it and it sounds exactly like that described by everyone else. Phew I will mention it to the mw when I see her week but for now, flump is bouncing around happily and constantly (perhaps a bit too happily for comfort) and I don't think there's much point in travelling all the way to the hospital (over an hour on the tube in the heat!) to be told i'm fine...

Got an unexpected day off work today (we were given a day instead of a bonus at xmas which I had forgotten about, which expired at end of April...oops!), and childcare is sorted until 6.30, and I'm too tired to do anything. I should go for a swim, perhaps a pedicure, pack my hospital bag, have a trip to boots to buy stuff and return some clothes to h&m. And maybe even try to squeeze in that facial that got cancelled before xmas. Instead of which I'm still sitting in my pjs trying to summon up the energy to face the world....

MrsDmamee · 29/04/2010 12:28

Hi All

i too im very emotional at the moment but instead of Ads and music its real stuff.

my ds1 is entering the terrible teenage years and its put a real strain on our relationship and the way the whole house works.

And im totally terrified (sp?)of ending up with an emc-section again.
Ive been trying to decided whats best for this time round: planned c-section or vbac or a sort of induction before my SPD gets any worse.
i just want it all to be uncomplicated on my 3rd and final baby. Especially after consultant at last weeks appointment said there may be a need to get baby out early if kidney is still in the severe range of dilation.

Mampam ive an appointment every 2 weeks at the moment next one is 32 wks then 34 weeks etc....
filly ive been leaking too, seems to be when im overdoing it around the house and (its not wee either im def of that).

names ive decided on Eaden for a boy and Elyssa for a girl.
And the E spelling for the girl name is on purpose as Myself and DH have same initals "A" and we thought a 3rd "A" would just be over the top

imkeepingmum · 29/04/2010 12:39

filly i've come in a bit late to this discussion but have also been having the same as you - watery discharge (quite horrid at times as just really wet (TMI!)) - but as it's not constant I haven't worried about it.

Just ordered the natal hypnotherapy birth preparation CD as reality is starting to hit that it's only 8 weeks to go until EDD and I want to be prepared. Although I am not desparately worried about the birth I also don't want to be panicking last minute. DH is already keen to know all the practical stuff such as when to phone hospital and what to put in hospital bag so it's a good job we start ante-natal classes next week.

mampam oh I know how you feel on the being up half the night thing!

Ponymum · 29/04/2010 12:42

Hi all, sorry I've not been posting much, but have been vaguely keeping up. Yes, I am one of the 'over emotional' pregnant women who cries at the JL ad. MrP actually laughs at me and says he can't understand what it is that is making me cry. Neither can I, really.

I have also come over all nesty in the last week. I really have to get on to packing the hospital bag. nizzy I would also like a good list. I had a great one last time but my hard drive crashed last year so I lost it. There's a link on the RHS of the screen for a Mumsnet one but it's more prompts and ideas rather than a proper checklist.

Other nesting here involves a major sort out of any new baby clothes that can be re-used (and no doubt very soon a panic last minute buy of everything that seems to be missing) as well as some serious batch cooking for the freezer.

filly and mampam Hope you are both OK.

MrsD I am also a SPD sufferer. I had a planned section last time and it looks like it will be the same this time. It is currently pencilled in and will be confirmed either way next week. My physio is fairly adamant that I shouldn't go through v birth in my current condition (in wheelchair) but the decision is up to me and the consultant.

meggymegmegs · 29/04/2010 12:43

Ooh filly am of your unexpected day off.

Nizzy, MadameF posted this link for what to put in hospital bags a few days ago.

Woke up this morning with what can only be described in normal life as a mild cold but has made me feel awful. I've been incredibly lucky and haven't had any illness at all since I stopped being sick at 14 weeks so haven't had to deal with both pregnancy and feeling poorly at all. Was so tempted to stay in bed this morning but have been interviewing today so had no choice but to drive in. Sorry, not much point to all this, just whining !

goodname · 29/04/2010 14:00

Hi Sorry I have not been keeping up so well for the last couple of weeks, been snowed under at work and just generally getting things organised at home.
Had my second ante-natal class last night on labour and it was very interesting. Was very very happy to hear that I can still have a water birth (hopefully) even though I have to go to the consultant led labour suite instead of the midwive led unit as the labour suite has a portable pool too. Yippee!
Also I now know excatly where to go when the day finally arrives.
Been feeling quite emotional recently as well but have not seen JL ad so dont know if it would make me cry. Just feeling quite shattered and weepy in general.
Hope you are feeling better today greensnail
Know what you mean about being snowed under with clothes gibberingginger filly think you should just enjoy your day off by resting and accomplishing nothing. Yous seem to work really hard and I reckon you need a day of doing nothing at all. Also at antenatal classes last night, the midwive said that back to back labour can often be caused by mums (who work in offices) working right up to due date because of the position you sit in at work all day. She recommended walking as much as possible and sitting/bouncing on the birthing ball as much as possible, at work as well if possible. Think I will have to try this as was planning on working right to due date.
LaT Very very sorry to hear the news about your dad, hopefully when the baby comes, you'll both be able to spend lots of time with him.
mampam I have had an appointment at 28, 32 34 and will have one at 37 weeks so yours sound quite far apart for me.
Sorry cant remember what everyone else has said. Find it really hard to get my brain into gear at all these days and concentrating at work is such a nightmare.
Oh have not packed a hospital back yet but DH insists we will get everything organised this weekend.

greensnail · 29/04/2010 14:07

I'm fine thank you Mampam. Was just feeling pretty rotten and exhausted last night, and everything seems worse when you're like that doesn't it. Feel better today, even managed to take DD swimming which I'm sure did us both good. I do still feel as though my body's gearing up to have this baby, but don't think anything's going to happen very iminently. I suppose its no real surprise if my body does want to get the baby out, as its doing a very good job of slowly poisoning me!

Sorry you had such a bad night again mampam. Roll on next week when you see your consultant (it is next week isn't it?) Then at least you'll know how much longer you've got to go. I'm going to ask next week if we can actually set a date for my induction yet as I want to be able to start crossing off the days too.

Hope you're enjoying your day off Filly.

MrsAlwaysRight · 29/04/2010 14:53

Afternoon Ladies,

LaT sorry to hear the very sad news about your dad.

Is anyone else feeling absoulutely exhausted? I feel like everything is such an effort at the moment.

Just had a lovely pedicure so my feet are now closer to resembling feet instead of hooves!

Got midwife this afternoon and am hoping I get the nice one today not my usual one.

Off to see Dirty Dancing tomorrow night with my Mummy friends. DD is staying at my Mums and DH staying away so looking forward to another lie in on Saturday

Woke up last night having dreamt I was in labour then spent the next hour awake panicing that if I really went into labour now I have nothing ready for the baby. Bought some newborn nappies this morning as a start!

greensnail · 29/04/2010 15:10

Hi MrsAlwaysRight . Can I ask where you went for your pedicure? I'm planning on having one too as can no longer reach my feet and they're looking quite horrific. Am wearing flip-flops all the time as they're easiest to get on and off so would be nice to have them looking a bit more presentable!

MrsAlwaysRight · 29/04/2010 15:21

I'll send you her details on Facebook

whenwillisleepagain · 29/04/2010 20:11

Hi everyone, just checking in. Got to type super-fast as DH is agitating to use the computer as well and we both want to watch the last Leaders' debate in a little while.

think it's 8 days since I looked at the thread, just been really busy. Got a cot and moses basket in flat packs in the hall waiting to be assembled.

la t, I was sorry to read about the recent news on your dad

WDMFG sorry about your really difficult times, I think you got some good advice on this thread

I'll have a better read of all your recent news over the weekend, especially interested in the c-section discussions as I too am lined up for one, with occasional wavering on the VBAC front.

Hope you all have a good Bank Hol and take care

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 21:16

Lol at my nesting being 'on-thread' mampam .
Right - I've gone through the latest posted list and deleted anyone who hasn't posted within ante-natal clubs on MN within the last 3 months (give or take a few days if they haven't posted elsewhere on MN either).
Can someone then add in anyone new who has joined since 12th April (the date of the base list that i've used) please?
