Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
blonde36er · 05/03/2010 08:35

Morning everyone

Still here lol! Wide awake again between 4am and 6am for no apparent reason whatsoever! No niggles/twinges since yesterday and DH has performed his husbandly duties twice

Last night I had something which couldn't be anything but a bloody show, so fingers crossed for something...anything...happening over the weekend!

Shroomer · 05/03/2010 09:34

MummyElk: 'if nothing else, waters going would provide some sort of good analogy for God surely?' ... yes, and it would be even more impressive if someone then parted those waters.

Off to buy a pineapple today, and making rogan josh this weekend. Still over a week to my due date but I'm keen for something to happen.

PacificDogwood · 05/03/2010 09:43

Good morning - sitting here with my old and wizened feet up, MummyElk; my MW would not be happy about that though .

And at Arcadie dreaming about me... Even DH doesn't anymore .

blonde, fingers are sooooo crossed for you, like you wouldn't believe. If I do not get anything done today, it will be Your Fault .

Nice to 'see' you - will hopefully meet up again on The Other Side.

Well, I packed DSs off to school (DS2) and saintly CM : DS3 is still spotty but happy as Larry and infact has been a real darling the last couple of days. DS1 is also perfecetly fine but being kept off school as a Public Health Service to the other children - and also because he became v distressed at the thought of having diarrhoea at school, and who would wipe his bum (nobody), and were would he get clean pants from, and Kandoos, and a cuddle etc etc.

So, today I am going to get my flue fixed (not a euphemism for anything else ) AND my bits waxed (they might need a machete...). Also washing more baby clothes, need to nip into work to sign something and will maybe venture into IKEA - do you think that's wise??

blonde36er · 05/03/2010 09:47

Definitely go to Ikea - nothing more likely to start things off than being somewhere inconvenient. Have thought about taking myself off somewhere, but I don't drive and don't fancy having to walk/bus back from somewhere having started contracting/with wet pants...not so bad if I can just dive into DH's car

And I am quite willing to take the blame for anyone doing nothing today, I am quite happy to blame Mumsnet in general for my newly enforced laziness so it all balances out!

PacificDogwood · 05/03/2010 09:53

blonde, you are aware of all the other things you can do to help things along:

Wear your v best knickers
Get expensive and non-returnable tickets for some once-in-a-lifetime event for tomorrow night
Put your v best and most expensive bedlinen on
Unpack you hospital bag
Maybe bring car to garage to get complete engine rebuild or summat to make getting to hospital as awkward as possible

I am sure I could think of more...

HTH
A Supporter.

annamama · 05/03/2010 10:01

Pacific - if you go into labour in IKEA just find yourself a cosy looking show bedroom and go for it!

You people are all so funny, thanks for giving me a faint ... even though I'm not in a funny mood, just fed up with waiting already, not due for another week but was hoping to be slightly early...

So my big sympathies with EVERYONE waiting, overdue or not! (but especially overdue of course)

I'm going to the baby gym class at soft play (with DD), there are big trampolines there, might help bring on labour if I jump on those... or it might just be a good time to wear Tena Lady.

OP posts:
blonde36er · 05/03/2010 10:29

Ooh big trampolines sound good! Much more fun than jumping on the spot in the house(which I have taken to doing occasionally, only manage about 10 seconds before needing a cup of tea and a lie down though!)

Pacific am pleased to report that I am now wearing my fanciest pants

AbsB · 05/03/2010 10:43

blonde I HAD A SHOW ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AGO!!!! Hooray - are we on our way???

Just called the mw and she said it could be another two weeks? Is she mad??? I'm 40 + 8 today and had a really weird night of pains and twinges....

DP making me a cake! Does anyone know if I'm booked in for induction on Sunday, do I still have to do it if I've had a show??? First timer and very ignorant.....

MandaHugNKiss · 05/03/2010 10:48

I'm with you anna on this thread making me ' even when I really don't feel it...

Abs Hooray for a show, but as the midwife says it doesn't necessarily mean anything is happening immediately - it's just your cervix becoming more effaced. As for the induction you're booked for, remember you do not have to have it at all if you don't want to. I presume you'll be 40+12 and it's their policy to induce then? You could go for expectant management (where you'll be checked daily to make sure the placenta is still functioning well, etc) until you go into spontaneous labour instead if you're not comfortable with the idea of being induced.

Of course, this could be moot - perhaps your show WILL mean good news! Good luck to you (and all our ladies who have 'grumbling' labours!)

blonde36er · 05/03/2010 10:54

Abs - nice one Who'd ever have thought that such items would be cause for celebration on the internet!

You don't have to go in on Sunday regardless if you don't want to - they won't come to your house and force you into an ambulance If you don't feel like it then call them and rearrange for later in the week.

However, if I refuse to go in on Thursday (if nowt has happened by then), then DH will probably have me kidnapped by his parents and driven up to Liverpool to have the baby up there, at least if I go into hospital here I'll be near home

hecklephone · 05/03/2010 12:13

Good going blonde and abs! Hope things move along quickly for you both. LOL at pacific's advice for guaranteeing labour - sounds a lot easier too than eating spicy food or jumping on a trampoline a la anna!

And blonde I was also awake for about 3 hours last night - I'm sure I saw hours 2 - 5 on the clock - hm, we could have been chatting on MN if only we'd known! But I think my reason was mainly indigestion rather than any labour action being imminent despite it being MY DUE DATE!! Yikes. It really doesn't matter how realistic I think I'm being about baby arriving today, and I REALLY don't think she'll arrive today, there's just something oddly significant about your official 'due date'.

Shouldn't really complain about the indigestion - it was brought on by mine and DH's 'last supper' ie a trip out last night to a lovely italian restaurant. We had a really nice meal and reassured each other that, yes, indeed we will cope with two children and generally had a nice time together. Hey, it could be the last night out for a while .

Does anyone else wake up in the morning these days and wonder if it was their last full night's sleep (not counting toilet visits) for some time??

rebeccacad · 05/03/2010 13:00

hello - just to let you know am still checking in with you all - congrats to the other new mummies and wow at 11lbs smac!

hang on in there everyone else - though as someone said they are lower maintenance as bumps!

x

MummyElk · 05/03/2010 14:38

Loving the Mucous Plug Updates...do you think News24 might start a rolling news ticker just for us Marchers? I finally just about found my cervix last night but it's not doing the right sort of thing, AND it was flipping hard reaching the damned thing anyway so i shan't be doing that again.

Is it me or is MN seriously slow this afternoon, I didn't mean THEM to put their wizened feet up too, Pacific is enough thank you very much!! And even she didn't rest up for long?!
Am not suffering massively from insomnia but definitely finding it's easy to get up in the morning, which is VERY unusual and gets a funny look from DH used to my incoherent snoring as he walks out the door.

Shall we all start dressing up...i'm thinking along pacific's lines - if we were to sit here MNing in our finest attire, i'm thinking Long Gowns, Gloves up to the Elbows, Those Weird Long Cigarette Holders, SParkly Shoes, Posh Pants, etc...maybe we'd all go into spontaneous labour and get the next couple of weeks out of the way?? You know we'd look good...barring the odd gaping hole where the back doesn't do up. arcadie already has a posh green dress from her bridesmaidly duties...

blonde36er · 05/03/2010 15:03

It's being rubbish and it keeps telling me that it's having 'porblems'!!

Thinking what fancy garb I might have in my wardrobe to put on, but to be honest being dressed is as close as I've been to fine attire for a while, I've been making an effort to wear something more appropriate than DHs pyjamas

PacificDogwood · 05/03/2010 16:03

Who broke my MN??? Own up, or you will ALL be grounded!!

And my Hotmail is not working either . Who broke that?

Well, I am defuzzed - and had a facial; it was utter bliss . First facial since I got married...ehm, 13 years ago, so not exactly a regular occurance.

Speaking about breaking: anybody's waters gone? Nope? I might just go to bed then for a little while before the monsters are back. Although dressing up sounds fun too - have v posh maternity frock, worn x2 (brother's wedding and Christmas night out) and can sit most decoratively in my silly shoes ...

Feeling very strange indeed, been having contractions every fifteen minutes or so since about 4 o'clock... LO very low down!
This could be it although have had several false starts so not really sure...

DP has gone to fill up the car with petrol, it turns out we're out! That would have been really funny!!!

Hope I can watch the Oscars during labour!!!

oooh, starting again,, off I go...

Sariska · 05/03/2010 19:23

Sounds promising, Abs. Letting the car run out of a petrol is obviously another one to try.

I'm not due until Sunday but have nonetheless tried the following things to encourage labour today:

  1. Changing out of ugly but comfy grey yoga pants and into a skirt for lunch with friends. Even managed earrings and a bracelet, too.
  1. A long walk this afternoon.
  1. Watching in horror as DS dashed straight across the road outside nursery. Luckily there was nothing coming.

Oh, and I have a takeaway curry on order.

No signs of imminent labour, although (3) brought me close to heart failure.

Hope you don't go to singleton term, Pixie.

Happy Friday evening everyone!

blonde36er · 05/03/2010 19:30

Hope this is it for you AbsB...good job you checked the petrol though

Look forward to not hearing from you for a while, for all the right reasons of course!

It'sssss the weeekenddddd, it'ssssss the weeekkkkeeennnddddd (sorry pacific it's what the DH brought home, I'm not turning it down)
nothing much to add, hope things are happening for you absb but you sound nice and relaxed which is the main thing. iwcas methinks your oxytocin levels are on the rise so enjoy, hope the rest of us non-starters keep you entertained adequately
Am watching Embarrassing bodies on C4, all I can say is Ewwww but massive sympathy, poor things.

Have found a lovely jane powertwin on netmums and now toying with whether we need a double or not... DD just turned 2. Any thoughts from other mums?

love the thought of pixie holed up in bed in top hat, tails and red nose... that would be QUITE the picture! that and the now non-hairy pacific (you didn't get the beard waxed off too did you?) and blonde in her DH's pj's.......methinks we need another option...
DH bought DD a sweet peppa pig outfit, she was SO cute showing it off. I might have to wrestle it on at some point purely because only when i am stuck in a £12 sainsbury's dressing up outfit will my waters properly break, it's just my luck.

hope i haven't missed anything important or x-posted. Bound to have.
have a nice evening everyone

annamama · 05/03/2010 21:28

Go Abs go! Hope this is it...

I wouldn't have an induction, I would do what Manda suggested ie being monitored every day and wait for spontaneous labour.

My first pg I was overdue by a week, think MW was talking about possible sweep. Me and DH were being very silly and filmed this spoof video of very serious Dr (him) telling patient (me) that he was going to do a sweep, and then bringing out a big brush and starting to sweep my belly, then saying labour should start soon. We posted it on youtube but no one seemed to think it was funny except us! It still comes up top if you search on pregnancy sweep...

I did go on the big trampoline today, felt suprisingly good! Hasn't brought on labour yet though.

Not feeling negative really Pixie, just a bit bah and introverted, maybe it's getting ready for labour, a bit like you IWCAS.

Are the twins both head down and ready for a normal delivery? That would be so cool if you can do that as it's not so common these days, most people have CS don't they?

Sariska - thank god no cars were coming, that could so easily happen to my DD too, will be more careful from now on.

My mumsnet was down before too, good job I didn't have any big news to report like mucous plug gone!

I re-read pregnancy book about birth, very good to revise what's going to happen and hopefully this time it will be text book, not like first time around with too many problems plus of course first time is usually a bit harder, sorry first timers!

Nite nite

Cross posted with you MummyElk, we bought a Jane Powertwin from ebay, DD will turn 2 in april, I reckon it will be great. Looks good anyway, ours is the green & red.

OP posts:
Rindercella · 05/03/2010 21:39

Oh IWCAS, I hope you feel better soon. How miserable for you.

Pixie, pleased you are obeying orders and putting your feet up. Your fainting episodes must have been very scary.

Smac - wow! Many congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Am seriously impressed at 11lbs!

The very best of luck to all you ladies who sound imminent...who would have thought that mucus plugs would become an interesting topic of converstation?!

I am feeling surprisingly well today. No aches, no pains, just feel quite elated and happy...which must be a good thing! I had some quite bad BHs yesterday. I asked DD to go and call for DH. She got an A+ as she stood at the bottom of the stairs yelling, "Daddy! Daddy! Mummy needs help!!!". DH didn't even get a D- though as although he heard DD he chose to ignore her

Bugger have just managed to eat my way though a whole large bag of Maltesers! Probably won't be feeling so great later on...

Rindercella · 05/03/2010 21:44

x-posted with both MummyElk and Annamama. Must've been too busy eating Maltesers!
