can I please give the disclaimer that I haven't actually shagged any international rugby players - I wish! Just served a few across a shop counter and crashed a party or two.

Therefore, I am at cunty and pony's real - and much better - claims to fame!

Just found a meal deal to celebrate Chinese New Year. wish SFF would hurry home for nom nom time

DIY Doppling - aka putting in to practise what I haz read in a book.

Take :

i) 1 differ
ii) 1 father-of-the-baybee
ii) 1 empty toilet roll holder

Place the empty toilet roll holder on your lower abdomen (at pube line), place the father's best ear at the other end of the toilet roll. BEHOLD! Doppling!

I've had the usual worries the last few days about no-baybee, however I spent yesterday afternoon crying & vomming which is usually a good sign and jailbait can hear it. Phew!

Toilet rolls? Hmm, interesting... glad it worked for you ski. Might give it a bosh at some point.

I am well chuffed today after winning a mahoosive motherease nappy kit on ebay. Nappies, liners, wraps, bin, laundry bag, and lots more for just over a hundred quid. All new too. Will be paying rots a visit for anything we need more of/that's missing.

well, off I go for a Valentine's night on my tod. SFF is working .

Is this our new home?

Nice haul there Curly - and good news on the spinal bifada odds too.

Skihorse, I agree with pony re judgemental mums. You'll have more power now as the gatekeeper to her grandchildren. Who cares where jailbait is from? As long as he treats you right and is a good father to the ski-foal.

Gosh you are all such big rugby groupies fans. Saw Invictus this weekend and cried loads.

So pumped that Stevie Wonder is playing Glastonbury! Yes I'll be 6 months pregnant but if I take a She Pee, how hard can it be?

Curly I hope you had a lovely saturday evening - we choose not to do Valentines but instead we nominate June 1st. I'm so anti being told which day I can love my bf that we chose a day which falls between our birthdays - but I feel loved every single day anyway. This probably makes me a righ misery. The nappy kit sounds brilliant... next on our list I think is cot and changing table although logically cot should be last as it won't be IN the cot until xmas. hmmmn.

Skater He will indeed be very good to the foal - and is always good to me. As for going to a festival - can't you bags special treatment? e.g., "I'm pregnant, I'm going to be needing that chair" or "I'm pregnant. Hot dog? I don't think so!.

re: my mum. I've decided to ignore that email and not respond. If she asks "why" I will tell her I find her lack of interest in jailbait "disturbing". I doubt she'll ask - I didn't talk to her for over 2 years and she never asked why...

Cossie Margot Ledbetter is about right - except Margot had a cracking sense of humour on occasion!

Monday morning photo session awaits.

(I've phoned in sick for a couple of days because I'm just done in.)

Yay for the She Pee! How to feel empowered in the outdoors.

skater Invictus? I am boycotting with fury. I don't think that somehow they included the part where the SA administration gave food poisoining to the entire All Blacks team the night before the final, did they? (True fact. International disgrace.)

ski Sorry you're unwell but rest is v necessary, I find.

MrP is home sick today, moaning, clutching his stomach, and running for the loo every 30 mins. I attempted to cook him a nice dinner for Valentines last night. Can't help worrying that the two events are related.

Hi all,

Found yers new Fred - good one. Lovely to see you hcs - what's going on elsewhere that you're hiding from?

ski at your mum. IMO, her loss.

cas great news about results!

cunty sorry about pain, hope it's nothing.

Had a lovely romantic weekend away, just the two of us. Spent Friday night in a lurvely hotel with a Michelin starred restaurant (belated christmas gift from generous relative) in the Yorkshire Moors, then Saturday in Pickering and a trip to the Choccie shop in the next village along for my Valentine's gift. Sat night in a nice B&B near Pickering, then mooched back yesterday via Castle Howard and the gliding club on Sutton Bank. Expecting LC to arrive anytime now, and it's half term so I've taken the week off. We're planning on going camping for a few days around York, taking LC to the water park there and a museum or two - should be lots of fun (we all have 4 season sleeping bags!!).

I cried on Friday after finding the only item of maternity clothing I saved from LC, a lovely dress which I'd wanted for that evening at the posh restaurant, wouldn't fit - turns out it was a size 12 and I started this a 16, so I realised JUST how much weight I'd put on since getting preggo with LC Still, I found another dress which went over my bump and I like, so that was ok.

Otherwise all good in carrotland, other than usual neck bloody pain and panicking about being able to carry the baby - but ho hum.

xxx

carrots I feel your pain about the maternity stuff. I can't find anything which doesn't fall in to the category "fucking hideous" or "farmer's wife" in maternity in larger than a size 14/16 here. I'm OK on top but my thighs were built for lifting rocks across glens and the like, not the catwalks of gay paree. So far I've just bought bigger troos. I gather Next maternity may be my salvation - any experience in that direction? I remember having seen others bitching that GAP (for example) only do their maternity range in the smaller sizes. These shops must be in cahoots with the NHS because everyone knows that us "big-boned" gals can't get pregnant because we iz so hideously repulsive.

Your weekend sounds absolutely lovely.

I want a week in the sun. From our local airport we can get 5* in Turkey for cheap as chips (400 euros) all-inclusive - which wouldn't be my first choice but it's "easy". Jailbait says he doesn't want to risk me being in Turkey with something going wrong. Grrrrrr. He said "what about Germany?". FFS. I want to cook my bump in the med - not eat sausages and wear leather shorts.

I dunno about Next or Gap ski as I avoid Gap following the child labour fiasco and Next stuff just never fits me - just one of those things, you know, their stuff is the wrong shape? I've bought some troosers from Blooming Marvellous as I mentioned before and I love'em. Otherwise it was ebay all the way. Sorry that's not much help

Someone mentioned childcare vouchers. I was by this as it's something really important to know as an employer (like me) if you're employing women of child bearing age (like me ). I get the vouchers so I asked our company lawyer people about it and they confirmed it's right. I'm now asking whether there is PAYE to pay on them during the SMP period. Will let you know - it would be important for anyone on self assessment of course.

Hi all. I shouldn't be here because my hands are not working, I've been signed off work and I am now on steroids. Woo fucking hoo.

But I had to pop in.

Sat night - was a weird Chinese NY celebration.

She wee - I have one, but seem to always leak. Most often used for pee samples.

Results - thanks all. We are happy.

Holiday - ski we considered a very similar deal. But now I want to use to money to hire a cleaner and give myself a longer lasting break!

Valentine - I agree is too commercial and we pretty much ditched it. Nonetheless |I am jealous of all your romantic tales.

Hope you are all well today.

rots You're completely right... Next doesn't fit me either - I just got completely carried away by the thought of maternity in a bigger size. I think we're similar shaped so I shall look at Blooming Marvellous. Failing that I shall order a size 34 dress from Evans and be done with it!

iggy It seemed to work very well for us, although jailbait has freakily good hearing. The second night he stayed over at mine I crept away to a room 2 rooms away and let out the tiniest of farts. He yelled " did you just fart?" Me on the other hand goes around yelling "What?" "Ten past two."

Well done pony - this is why it is better to relinquish kitchen duties to the man of the house although I did all the cooking yesterday. Yes, real meals with ingredients and everyfink!

rots You have spent the weekend stalking me! As far as I know there is only one Michelin Star restaurant near here and it's the same place I took MrP for his birthday a few weeks ago. What did you eat? We were at the Point to Point in Helmsley yesterday so you drove right past us without even saying hello.

ski I got my maternity jeans from Next and as I said had to send back for the smaller size, so I am fairly happy with the fit. I got these. The bootcut bottoms are a bit wide for my taste but otherwise look fine, and comfy too.

Bad experience in Turkey when I was 22. Not planning on going back thank you.

Curly I'm not dying or anything - thank you for being so sweet - I'm just exhausted, putting in too many hours at work on a particularly unpleasant project and I've been getting pains which I'm 99% sure are outside the uterus and stretchy ligament pains. I just need a few days sleep and I've been so busy at work I've not thought to take any holidays to rest.

Still not sure at all what to do about the hols... thing is, I used to live in Turkey so I do have friends there who can help out if shtf and if I suspected anything untoward I'd demand the first flight back to NL. Bugger.

Tales from the preggo crypt: Yesterday it was pointed out to me that I now have a vein across my boob going in to the nipple which is now raised above the surface. wtf? Looking forward to bum-grapes.x

rots She pee only useful in places where nobody else can see you! I use it out walking. Have not had leakage problems but it is a weird feeling having to trust it.

Pony Those next jeans are lovely and I think they were the ones I was looking at the other week. Are their returns easy? Alternatively, I was thinking of taking the boat to Newcastle for a weekend - do they have a decent maternity range in their regular shops?

iggy I saw that on your fb, what did the little horrors do? I went back to bed around 7 this morning (up at 2) - woke up at 9:01 as the bollocking alarm hadn't gone off. Interrupted a dream about me fixing an engine. Oh yes, because that's a skill I have!

ski mine was playing with a young Weimaraner and they were bowling around us in huge circles... I was not watching them closely and suddenly a mass of black and silver fur hit me on the leg and I landed on my arse. I was fine - but had twinges for hours after (am thinking ligaments soft and so took a while to recover from impact?) but they went away and I felt the baby moving later - so guess all is ok...

ski also hope you feel better soon. Relax a bit if you can! Yes we're prob the same shape. The BM are really stretchy so comfy over the hips and arse.

pony ooooh really? Sorry about that. Is it a little star of a place, village nearly Jeremy but not quite?? Food was very nice in a slightly over the top Michelin kinda way but the restaurant itself was disappointing. We were seated next to the fire which smoked so badly that I felt really ill and we had to be moved - next to a really drafty door. But other than that it was very nice indeed, and the hotel was superb.

The hotel did have Nescafe in the rooms so I had a polite word about that, and mentioned that a place like that should be serving free range eggs and pig products, but they did say that their coffee in the hotel and restaurant was all fair trade. I have to say that all the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant were fantastic - the only gripe was the smokey fire and the drafty doorway (and baby killing coffee supply )

ski I had to buy on t'interweb. I made the effort of actually going into the big Next store as didn't want to risk not trying them on, but they said, "we don't keep the maternity range in store". You have to pay for returns or physically take them to a store.

rots Ahh, you were in the old part of the restaurant. We always ask for seating in the new part now. Yes, they are a bit funny in the extended business with fair trade / ethical stuff. The publicity goes on about local free range, blah blah, but their food shop in H which we buy a lot of stuff from sells non-free range chicken! We have a go at the butcher about it every time we go there, telling him how much business he is losing but he says it's not worth it as there isn't enough interest!

pony bollocks is there not enough interest. Most people who frequent farm shops want not just locally produced but ethically produced food sigh . OK re old part - will remember that next time!

cas If you want to, send me a list of what nappies you have and I'll tell you if there's anything missing. Motherease are excellent nappies but may not fit a small baby so if not, do not despair and give up, either buy a small stock of little ones, use cheaper prefolds (not as good though) or get by with disposables for 4-6 weeks and you should be ok. They may also not fit bigger toddlers but cross that bridge when you come to it - for the price you've paid you've got a bargain and can afford to top up.
