Fire & Stone is a bit gimmicky but if you choose well pizzas are tasty - agree re service though! Best go when there's some sort of special offer on then the service doesn't grate as much....

BESHfest - I can't make it I'm afraid - will def try to get to next one. Would be lovely.

(Also I am v socially inept in real life. Hoping that others will sink to my level when they suffer post-baby-brain and then we can sit about moaning about nappies together without me feeling like a freak.)

GrumpyGasper · 22/02/2010 17:23

I had urge for pizza on Friday when pram shopping. Luckily the Hut is next to mothercare, and it was weekday all you can eat... Not the best, but this baby is far from fussy when it comes to pizza!

I should stop writing here and do the stuff I have to do at work so I can go home...

GrumpyGasper · 22/02/2010 17:25

we can be inept together vag! sorry you can't come.

p.s F&S service was great on our Honeymoon. A veritable feast after a week of Cuban cuisine. And that fine day ended in the Comedy Store. Bliss.

rollerbaby · 22/02/2010 18:12

I think I've lost the thread... What's all this about a BESHfest? Is that some other kind of club? I've been burger munching today...completely ravenous and even carrying around cereal bars in my handbag like I'm at school again.

Silver also bit dizzy, but that could be because I'm hyperventilating at the shock of being recently pregnant.

In other news have made a 'booking in appointment' today. V. exciting. And they are doing an early dating scan in 3 weeks. Wooopppeee. Seems I am lucky and get 2 (although paying for it so doens't count as lucky I suppose).

AFter saying we wouldn't tell anyone, have now told 3 friends. Pathetic, my will power.

the real question will be how long I can hold back from the retail madness that is lurking.

SkaterGrrrrl · 22/02/2010 18:34

Hey everyone,

So I went to the hospital on Friday and they scanned me, to confirm everything and to see if I needed an D&C. And this gorgeous Zimbabwean nurse with a big smile said ?I can hear a heartbeat - a strong heartbeat!?. I nearly broke SkaterBoy's hand off. Then cried. Like a girl. They said some women bleed heavily in pregnancy and the baby can be ok. Am with my GP because I rang her with the bleeding started and she asked me a few questions and said ?There's nothing we can do, its over? so DH and I spend 48 hours grieving.

There's more! The nurse said, 'are you sure you're 8 weeks? This is a big baby!' I told her my GP put me at 8 weeks. Oh no, she says. This baby is 12 weeks.

So I was pregnant for 2 months and didn't notice. Also, my GP is officially a twat.

Will you lot have me back or have I blown all my cool?

GrumpyGasper · 22/02/2010 18:51

Skater that's absolutely brilliant news! Please come back - we never stopped loving you.

Doctors can be so bloody incompetent - but isn't it amazing when it can lead to a lovely surprise such as this. Ahh, I feel all fizzy inside x

rollerbaby · 22/02/2010 19:10

Awwww that's brilliant brilliant news. The GP should be shot for putting you through that.

SilverSky · 22/02/2010 19:17

well blow me down with a bulldozer! What a wonderful post! Bloody amazing! Congratulations.

Who do we complain to about your GP? Is he a real one or did he buy his qualifications off t'interweb? Knob.

GrumpyGasper · 22/02/2010 19:36

skates BESH pals chuffed for you and say to go and visit them

SkaterGrrrrl · 22/02/2010 19:38

Oh god, I am so relieved. I thought you would think I was an awful internet troll who makes up tragedies to get attention. Feel so stupid having bared all and been utterly wrong.

My doctor is a she and good at the coughs and colds stuff but clearly skipped class during the obs & gynae session.

Feels crazy that I am very suddenly (less than a month after finding out I'm pregnant) 12 weeks gone and am now breaking the news to everyone!

How are all your bumps doing?

skihorse · 22/02/2010 19:46

Skater You mad awful internet troll - this is undoubtedly the best news we've had in ages! Well done you! 12 weeks diffed eh? Does this mean you have proper scan pics and everyfink? I'm so chuffed for you.

OP posts:
Ponymum · 22/02/2010 20:28

Skaaaatrrrrrr!!! That is brilliant news.
And here's a bonus thought - you are 12 weeks and not having morning sickness. You are actually a lucky cow.

PerfectDromedary · 22/02/2010 20:42

Best. News. Ever. Seriously, so needed to hear something miraculous and wonderful and Skater's story is just that.

I'd cry, but I'm not a big girl's blouse

SkaterGrrrrl · 22/02/2010 20:54

Cheers for that, horse + pony!

I haz a scan pic, a due date of 1 Sept and have finally told parents they are getting their first grandchild.

My folks are so pissed off with the treatment I've had they've offered to pay for me to go private, but I need to do some research as Im not sure it's necessarily better.

Ski Im glad Im not the only one who's been confused over dates.

VAG me old lurker, re jeans buying, I dont have a bump yet and am wearing all my old clothes .....but according to my baby book your uterus gets much bigger very suddenly. So right now my uterus is the size of a grapefruit but in a fortnight it will be the size of a melon. Im hoping a canteloupe rather than a watermelon.

cheggers · 22/02/2010 20:58

oh my god skaterr

i am so unbelievably delighted for you

staggering incompetence on the part of the GP, and can't comprehend what you have been through for the last few days, but wow - what a great story.

grab yerself one of these folic acid laced cocktails and make yerself back at home

GrumpyGasper · 22/02/2010 21:00

bought my maternity jeans just before 12 weeks. Now they are the only ones that fit. I'd say give in and buy peshes, you'll be glad of that extra room.

Until last week I was managing with non maternity all-sorts, because I could still get it around under the bump - but it wasn't really comfortable at all. at the weekend I bought proper maternity joggers and linen trousers - and oh my god they are so comfortable! Otherwise I'm all about the dresses/tunics. And big clown-style jammy bottoms

skates you should get iggy's thoughts on private.

Cosmosis · 22/02/2010 21:09

skates OMG you have just made my bloody day!!! am so thrilled for you!!!! You'z only just behind me now then (14+1)

I am currently luxuriating in my new jogging bottoms. TGO bought me them at lunchtime. I have never owned any before but was so uncomfortable at the weekend. Oh my lord the comfort! I iz happy bunny.

CUNextTuesday · 22/02/2010 21:55

Hooray for Skatrrrr oh that is such good news, you big fraud!!! So made up for you and you have leapt on 4 weeks which means that you are past the stage you need to worry about shiz like the odd glass of absinthe wine - in one fell swoop! This calls for a celebrations

I took it easy all weekend and managed to render it pelvic pain-free. Got up this morning to go to Exeter, pain free. Spent all day pain free. Arrived at station with 3 mins to spare for home-train so ran up steps to overbridge, now in agony. Am well miffed that hard work undone. At least stepson was sweet enough to take pity on me and come and pick me up from station. Got home at 8.30, no dinner on. Double miffin with croc hips.

Must address with doc. Something Must Be Done.

Ponymum · 22/02/2010 22:05

Oh dear cunty. "so ran up steps to overbridge, now in agony." Yep, those damn stairs will do it every time. Hope you are not in too much pain.

CUNextTuesday · 22/02/2010 22:22

I have resumed my position in the armchair. Hom is instructed to fetch and carry. If it's no better than this tomorrow I am staying in bed all day as it seems that plenty o' rest and careful movements afterwards = minimum discomfort. I know it sounds stupid, and obv you are well versed here, but the need to take care of every movement in case it's too jerky or sudden is really quite annoying. And an inability to go for a stroll is also vexacious. Ho hum. Lesson learnt the hard way...

skihorse · 23/02/2010 02:33

You know a really wonderful thing about this skater is that you must've been diffed when you went on holiday - can you imagine how much of a worry-wart you'd have been if you'd known before you'd gone? I'm sure it would've been so difficult to fully relax and enjoy yourself - and yes, you are very clever to have got through the first 12 weeks in 4!

Poor cunty - for his varying failures I'm going to expect hom has a lot of fetching & carrying to do to his lady on the throne.

cheggers I wanted to thank you for the "scratch & sniff" thing... I was trying to eat my lunch and found myself distinctly queasy and unable to swallow. Cheers.

skater I'm soooooooo pleased. Have also posted in the BESH palace but wanted to come over here, which is where you officially belong. Hell, I want to post in every fred.

Am trying v hard not to think of your GP as I think I may go crazy eight bonkers (think Michael Douglas "Falling Down").

Tis truly wonderful news, x

salander · 23/02/2010 08:26
