hi everyone, my appt went great. got to see my gorgeous baby on screen again and it seemed to be playing today. it was yawning and rubbing it's eyes, and even gave a little wave when dd said hello to my belly. wouldn't have believed it but i saw it with my own eyes. i know it was just a coincidence but dd was chuffed to bits. the straighteners incident was quite bad, damn pregnancy brain forgot that i'd placed them on the floor. i put my hand down to get comfy and you could hear the sizzling.LOL i was hysterical screaming "oh my god, you can see my bone", i so over-reacted. LOL baby has now moved into position for birth too so am now hoping for a definite labour and not cs. can't believe that all that is happening at the end of your road LL, it must be so horrible for you and all you london ladies and famillies. i'm supposed to be going to manchester on monday but am terrified to get on public transport now, don't mind admitting that i'm scared, been in that position before and can honestly say it was the worst experience of my life so far. on a good note though, can't believe i'm now off work for 27 weeks, it's all so surreal. i cried 3 times and all before 9:15 LOL

Redhelen · 22/07/2005 19:06

LadyLazarus - hope things have calmed down in your street so that you can relax.

bubbles2904- glad you appointment went well - sorry to hear about your burnt hand- I threw hot black coffee over my right palm earlier - spent next 30 minutes with it in cold water - I'm getting very clumsy!

Dee77 - I'm due on 12th September - rather hoping earlier!!!

Do anyone elses kids seem to be turbo charged? or is it my bad luck with my 5 year old!?

Katts · 22/07/2005 19:13

Dear God! Bubbles could you really see the bone? That soudnds excrutiating?

I know it pales in comparison but is anyone else having nose bleeds? Don't think it's my blood pressure as that's been low. Not sure what's causing it.

bubbles2904 · 22/07/2005 19:20

no it wasn't the bone, i was just over-reacting. thinking back it was quite funny LOL. no nose bleeds here

RedZuleika · 22/07/2005 19:40

The midwife told me it's the progesterone is causing the nose bleeds - something to do with vasodilation, I think, but I could have misunderstood. Mine isn't bleeding, as such, but I'm a bit bunged and it has a tendency to dry out - then it's a bit bloody when I blow it. I'm also sleeping with a Olbas oil soaked tissue in my pillow.

bubbles2904 · 23/07/2005 06:15

Morning everyone, yes, i'm awake at the crack of dawn again. god this not sleeping is doing my head in. i had a dream about science from bb last night, i was so gutted when he left. LOL Think i'll go to the next sale and spend some of my hard earned money on myself LOL i'll end up spending all on dd and bump as usual. does everyone else seem to do this?

Katts · 23/07/2005 09:56

Thanks RedZ So it's hormones again. .Just spent half and hour in the shower crying for NO reason thanks to those.

At any rate DP is treating me a pregnancy massage in 1/2 an hour. Yay!

RedZuleika · 23/07/2005 10:11

Hormones?? Surely not... Actually - anyone else feeling really aggressive?? Sometimes I want to weep and sometimes I just want to smack someone (like my husband when he reminds me that sex is good for ripening the cervix...).

Redhelen · 23/07/2005 10:31

Hello

Had a bad nights sleep last night baby seemed to be awake alot and ds up at 5.30 - very tired, nose keeps bleeding - want to have a good cry - but worried if I start I might not stop and It would upset ds. Urrr - better go and do something and I'll feel better!

LadyLazarus · 23/07/2005 12:35

Things are fairly quiet round here now, although the police cordon is still in place. Re: the nosebleeds, I am not having actual nosebleeds, but whenever I blow my nose it's always a bit like that, and I feel constantly bunged up. I can also identify with the 5.30am rising, as that's what time I got up this morning! Managed to catch a couple of hours on the sofa a bit later on tho!

If I walk any distance (ie. not very far!) my back is really aching now. Is it just the extra weight? I am quite conscious of my posture and stuff, but it's making my daily walk to the park a tad uncomfortable.

Katts - a pregnancy massage?! you've got your DP well-trained! I am still trying to persuade mine not to leave his smelly socks on the floor behind the living-room door!!

Katts · 23/07/2005 15:32

Well DP has a masseuse friend of his round this morning for a bit of pampering. He had an hour and 1/2 massage and I had a 45 minutes massage then 45 reiki. The massage was nice. She did it with me sitting in a chair and leaning over onto her table.

But the reiki was amazing! I really didn't know what to expect or what reiki was all about. Still not completely sure - something about channeling energy into my body and opening up the energy centres and releasing pent up emotions. Whatever. All I can say, is I would DEFINITELY do it again.

Baby was moving round loads while she did it and also moving in a totally different way. Much more gentle - like cuddling or swimming - rather than like some squirming alien trying to get out of my tummy (which is normal).

I'm not generally into all the new age stuff but this has just left me feeling much more relaxed and peaceful. Had a big rush of emotions at the end of it and ended up crying for several minutes - but in a good way. I just felt positive and loved and warm and centred and ...

Ok...gonna stop now...it's the reiki talking. Must still be spaced out.

andif · 23/07/2005 16:10

Hi all. Just woken up after a quick nap and the house is silent - dh has bravely taken the boys shopping in Kingston! Sleeping so much better since the homeopath - weird as I'm always a bit sceptical, but really does seem to have worked.
LadyL - must be awful having all that stuff going on under your nose - we're on hols now for 2 wks and I'm just so relieved dh won't be commuting for a while. I had loads of nosebleeds with ds2, but none this time (yet)- it's hormones I think.
Bubbles, your scan sounds lovely. Seems ages since last one, would love to see baby again. Will take boys to next mw appt so they can hear heartbeat, but baby always freezes when they touch my tummy so they haven't even really felt it move yet!
Redhelen, my kids are also driving me mad. Think it's over tiredness at end of term. Hope they become more chilled on hols!!
Back in 2 weeks!!! Must go and do some ironing.

LadyLazarus · 23/07/2005 16:12

andif - which homeopathy remedies have you been given to help with sleep? I took one for exhaustion last week and it really helped (much to my surprise )

Katts - I've had a short (only about 5 mins) reiki thing before at some 'Mind-Body-Spirit' thing a couple of years ago. I was a bit skeptical too, but I did find it quite relaxing, altho have no idea why!!

Redhelen · 23/07/2005 16:17

Massage and reiki sounds great - is reiki - Indian head massage? Sounds like it was well worth doing.

Redhelen · 23/07/2005 16:21

Andif & LL - if you can do let me know which homepathic sleep treatments you have had? Think I need to book an appointment - my gp just dismissed the idea.

milward · 23/07/2005 21:57

Doc called on friday to say that my thyroid was too low now that both results were back. Had to pick up a prescription from the hospital for thyroxine. Started this morning with one tablet 30 mins before breakfast. Have to co-ordinate with my other medicine for digestive probs. Would normally take this am & pm but now will have to see how I go taking this in the early afternoon as I have to wait 5hrs after taking the thyroxine.
Apart from this - feeling almost that I can't believe that I'm actually going to have a baby soon. Anyone else like this?

Redhelen · 23/07/2005 22:34

I'm feeling like the baby could come anytime- I ached so much in the Next Sale queue I thought my waters were about to break (the things I'll try to jump the queue!) but no sign - not sure if this is intuition or wishful thinking (probably the latter!!) Just been to a 40th birthday party (the first of many!) - took ds with us under the deal that he sleeps till 7am (um we will see!) night night!

pooka · 24/07/2005 03:17

I need something to help me sleep. Would help if dd was sleeping better and not being brought into bed with us by dh at the first murmer. Naturally she ends up sleeping on my side of the bed, so I cannot get comfy particularly with restless legs and massive bump.
Am heating some milk for a hot drink and then am going to have a bath. I seem to recall last time I was pregnant thinking it was ironic that just as you feel need to bank sleep pending arrival of non-sleeping baby, insomnia sets in. Ho hum!

PiccadillyCircus · 24/07/2005 06:17

I too have woken up earlier than I would like (although not as early as you Pooka - hope you managed to get back to sleep).

Weather has definitely got cooler and greyer which I am still enjoying (although if it carries on for too long I will probably be complaining .

I think I am realising that yes I will be having another baby in the next couple of months but it still feels rather surreal.

Finished reading Harry Potter last night. Now I can go on the Harry Potter threads (the temptation to go on one earlier was very strong )

mummyhill · 24/07/2005 08:27

Morning all.

Milward - What kind of dosage have they started you on? Be aware that they may slowly increase it. Unless you have real problems like i did in September when they trebled my dosage from 50 to 150 mcg max recomended dosage being 200mcg. Scary or what.

Had a lovely time at the beach with DH and DD all got slightly sunburnt. Then went up to Haydock on Friday to visit friends and i ended up driving home as DH was convinced that him having a few drinks with our friends whilst would be fine cause after all i'm not drinking at the moment. Selfish S*D. We have friends coming up from Bristol today to go to the Nick Junior Jump up event the kids should have a great time.

Had a hospital app on Friday morning, thyroid etc fine at the moment all under good control. Will not need to have a section as far as obs team are concerned but they are writting to my orthapeadic team just in case and will see me again in 4 weeks. (by which time it will be to late for an elective section because i will be 38 weeks anyway). Apparently this little angel is ceph and 3/5 engaged so bets on this on going to term please!!!!!

Sister has just delivered a huge pile of crib bedding and a cold water steriliser as she knew they were thngs i needed and hadn't yet got round to shelling out for, she also bought DD a princess dress up set so that she didn't feel left out. (Bless) I only need to get the matress for the crib and a monitor now and all will be ready.

Have nearly finished packing my bag just need to get a couple of nursing bras and some button up night clothes so can do the feeding thing discreetly.

By 1st August i think we will have to start a new thread as we are all gettting well chatty.

Redhelen · 24/07/2005 09:46

PiccadillyCircus & Pooka - really sorry you lost sleep last night - our bribe to ds worked as he slept in until 8!!Managed to sleep well(ish!) two toliet trips and the heavy rain woke me once! And ds is spending the next two days and nights at mil - she is fantastic

LadyLazarus · 24/07/2005 09:53

Mummyhill - when should I get measured for a nursing bra? I'm just about to embark upon week 33, is it too soon? I have sort of half-packed my hospital bag, although if the day comes sooner rather than later I'll still be running around looking for stuff to put in it!

RedHelen - I haven't seen a homeopath, I just bought a "pregnancy + childbirth" kit online, it comes with a little booklet, so have just been reading that really. Says there's no side effects to the remedies in pregnancy, there's even one for morning sickness - wish I'd known about that in the beginning!! The remedy I tried for "exhaustion" was "Kali phos 200c". In the booklet it says for insomnia try "Bellis Per 200c" or "Kali Carb 200c" (or if it's more anxiety-related, try "Aconite 200c"). I've never tried homeopathy before, and am planning on giving it a go in labour.. every little helps and all that

pooka · 24/07/2005 10:52

I'm going to get measured for a nursing bra in wek 36 I think.
Shattered today, managed to get back to sleep at 5am ish then slept on and off until 8am. Am waiting in for the midwife (again - she couldn't make the last appointment) so dh has whisked dd off to toyshop as too wet for park.
I had completely forgotten about the steriliser. Need to get breast pump back from friend too (though not till babe is born, I guess). Have decided that having borrowed a moses basket last time, am going to buy (or rather my father is!) a crib this time in the hope that it gets rather more use. DD still in cot, though have ordered a big bed, and don't want to double up with cots.
I'm with you redhelen in feeling like the baby could arrive anytime now. But am sure it won't. In fact I reckon this one may be a little late according to doctor's dates as they seem to be calculated on a 28 day cycle and I had 34 day cycles pre-conception. We shall see.
Anyway - do hope midwife turns up today as I'm fed up with keeping house presentable. How stupid am I? - like it's some form of test that I have to pass. Has clean house and therefore ok for home birth.

Redhelen · 24/07/2005 12:20

pooka - I know what you mean about having to clean the house before a midwife etc visit - it is crazy as I'm sure they see alsorts durring an average day! My friend who is a social worker says if they accept a drink at your house your ok! and I wonder who will be first to deliver baby!!!

LL - could you let me know the site your saw the pregancy homepatic stuff - I have no idea where to start - but feeling really drawn to reiki, homeopathy, etc. and feeling I might try acupuncture too.

Katts · 24/07/2005 13:56

Redhelen - just say your question below. Reiki isn't massage. The Reiki practitioner just lays there hands on different bits of your body and supposedly channels energy into your body. I think she touched the top of my head, over my eyes, my ears, just below my throat, my ribs, my belly and my feet. I could definitely feel the warmth from her hands. Not sure if my energy centres were recharged - or whatever - but it was relaxing. And (ok I was probably imaging this) I felt like the baby was sending me loving thoughts.
