STM - its good that you are looking at positive side of breech meaning c/section. Have to admit when I was told that baby had turned a bit of me thought 'Oh no there goes my section!' Dont forget that the other benefit is that an elective c/section is planned and therefore often easier than an emergency section - which some end up with after labouring for a while. But you do still have time for baby to turn - regardless of size. Not sure what your mw means that you cant get bigger? But if you are small and baby is biggish - my choice would be a section.

singleteenagemum · 21/07/2005 10:18

he doesn't seem overly big to me, and alothough i'm not big, i;m not that small either, my pelvis is apparaently small as mentioned previously. O well whatever happens it;s not the end of the world, in fact either way it's the begiing of a whole new one........aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh scary

Boompi · 21/07/2005 10:21

Just had call from hospital to say second GTT normal - I am so relieved
Can eat chocolate again after a month!! Think I am going to make a celebratory carrot cake. (Have to add that although I love cooking, the last cake I baked was in 1991 in a Home economics class - becoming mumsy!!)

singleteenagemum · 21/07/2005 10:44

lol Boompi, think a triple chocolate cake would suffice my needs right now. mmmmm with lots of chocolate sauce, white chocolate filling, chocolate buttons on top, o and make it three layers each a different chocolate and makes some little chocolate chips to go in them.....am so hungry now, could manage a whole cake methinks, a bit like Bruce Bogtrotter from the Matilda story......

Does it annoy anyone else when someone says to whilst you're enjoying a lovely, well deserved chocolate bar...'oooooo you;d better be careful, you'll be paying for later!!' really gets on my nerves, just think you;d better be careful stoppig a pregnant woman enjoying her treat for the week....grrrrrrr

singleteenagemum · 21/07/2005 10:48

p.s that's really good about GTT

Kiwifruit · 21/07/2005 10:55

Great news about the GTT Boompi - I'm getting odd cake baking urges at the moment too - think I may have to succumb this weekend...

STM - good attitude re the section, but baby might still turn (I posted a link down futher on this thread to another thread that had links to sites on optimal fetal positioning - might be worth having a try?).

PC - at your last day!!

OK Very jealous but very happy for all those finished or about to finish work
You've made me very hungry now, talking about chocolate and cakes. may have to succumb to a danish pastry that I've been trying to avoid for the last few weeks.. The girls in the office joke that I'll end up giving birth to a danish pastry and keep coming up with Danish names for me!
As for baking...I wish I could find the time! Enjoy your cakes, girls, all those people making comments are just jealous that you don't have to watch the calories.

milward · 21/07/2005 11:38

redhelen - the low thyroid is a preg thing - didn't have it with the others. Will wait for more results before I know if I need medication. Doc said beby was taking my thryoid & I wasn't making enough.
lol about the knitted doll through pelvis

LEG CRAMPS!!! - had these in right leg last night. Awful. Anyone else suffering. What can I do?

Kiwifruit · 21/07/2005 11:44

Leg cramps - my ante natal yoga teacher suggested sitting on the side of the bed and putting a milk/wine bottle under the arch of your foot and rolling it backwards and forwards, flexing your foot to create the movement. Luckily, I haven't been hit with this particular affliction yet, so can't tell you if it works or not. Might be worth a try though?

milward · 21/07/2005 12:02

Thanks kiwifruit - will try this. Had my docs appointment yesterday & forgot to mention leg cramps as I'd only had one & no prob - but of course last night was awful!!! Hope you don't get them.

Katts · 21/07/2005 12:11

Ran into a friend of a friend last night. I've been avoiding her for the entire pregnancy because first of all, I can't stand here and second, she prides herself on being able to tell the sex of the baby by the size and shape of your bump. So of course the first thing out of her mouth is, "Oh! I can tell you're having a boy! How wonderful!". When I told her it's actually a girl she then tried to tell me how her method is fool proof. On and on and on! Even after I told her that it sounded like bllsht to me.

I seriously almost hit her. In fact I'm thinking now I should have taken the opportunity and cried off with the pregnancy excuse.

DP says now I'm bound to have a boy just to prove her right.

ARGH!

LadyLazarus · 21/07/2005 12:48

Good news about your GTT Boompi, were the previous results just blips then? Mmm carrot cake!! You really shouldn't have mentioned it! My GP is being a bit hasty and has told me to cut down on sugar, etc, due to having TRACE glucose in my urine, despite normal GTT . I'm sure she thinks all I do is sit at home and eat cakes all day, she's always astonished by how much weight I'm putting on, I think I need to remind her I'm PREGNANT!!!

jessysmummy · 21/07/2005 12:49

Milward - I've been suffering really badly with cramp too, especially in the wee small hours. Hasn't been so bad since I've increased my calcium intake - bit more cheese and yoghurt - and trying to drink a bit more water which I've struggled with all the way through thanks to MS.
HTH

LadyLazarus · 21/07/2005 13:48

Not sure if anyone else's seen the news, but there's three "incidents" on the Tubes in London again, plus one on a bus in East London. News has taken over normal programmes on the tv again. They are not saying exactly what's going on, but looks a bit grim...

mummyhill · 21/07/2005 14:24

Milward - I have had an underactive thyroid for 12 years. My dosage of thyroxine has gone up durring each pregnancy. As long as it is caught and treated it is not a problem. If you are only border line they will probably give you a low dosage of thyroxine and check your bloods each month and increase/decreas meds as necessary, they will probably monitor you for a while afterwards as well. DD was monitored for thyroid problems for 2 years and this baby will be as well can be a bit unpleasant as it is not easy to draw blood out of a tiny baby but in my case it is necessary to ensure that baby is ok. At least i know what to expect this time round.

We had a lovely time in barmouth yesterday apart from being caught out by the fact that it was overcast and windy, we did not reapply the sunscrean often enough and have all come home with a spot of sunburn!!!!!

PiccadillyCircus · 21/07/2005 14:44

Feeling even more glad that this is my last day at work and I don't need to come into London again for a while.

I was just feeling OK about being in London again today and then this happens .

My tube lines should be OK, or DH has said I should get a taxi to Kings Cross. Not really what I wanted.

andif · 21/07/2005 14:56

I am becoming a leg cramp expert!! Although busy legs are more of a problem at the moment. Saw the homeopath yesterday and she gave me something she said should cure it within a week. GP said eat bananas as it's often potassium deficiency. Mum's yoga teacher said pinch your ear lobe - it never fails!!
Hate all this bomb business. Dh OK but has to come home via Waterloo which he thinks is shut at the moment. Can't wait to go on holiday on Sun.

PiccadillyCircus · 21/07/2005 14:58

On the leg cramp front, have been eating a banana just before I go to sleep and this is definitely helping.

Does anyone else have a REALLY wriggly baby inside them? I think I really do have an octopus in here .

Redhelen · 21/07/2005 15:04

I can't believe there are more explosions on the London underground - sounds like no major injurys.

I found eating crisps just before bedtime has stopped the cramp, and drinking milk helps the heartburn !!! yum yum!!

STM - hopefuly baby will turn - but a planned c-section is really ok.

Redhelen · 21/07/2005 15:07

I think I've got a nocturnal octopus - baby beats me up and night! Fairly still at present - but as I settle for bed dh likes to prod my tum and wake her from her slumber!

Kiwifruit · 21/07/2005 15:28

Oh yes, mine's been really wriggly for the last week or so, but quite quiet today.

My boss had her 20 week scan on Monday, and she's having a girl, which she's very excited about

singleteenagemum · 21/07/2005 15:31

I read somewhere you're meant to be able to tell a sleeping pattern at around 28weeks! Anyone able to do this? He always seems awake to me. I did however try the ol' shine a torch on your tummy game, he moved straight away...so they're right he sometimes has his eyes open....awwwww sweet

Hope everyone in London is ok

singleteenagemum · 21/07/2005 15:33

Andif, only Shepherd's Bush, Oval and warren street stations are closed at the moment. Lines may be affected though

elasticated · 21/07/2005 16:44

Just been catching up and am now STARVING - mmmm, carrot cake and chocolate cake... went to supermarket earlier and have already eaten my doughnut, d/h is away this week so can't even send anyone out to fetch cake for me must raid the chocolate stash...
Hope everyone in London doesn't have too stessful an end to the day.
STM - as others have said still time for baby to move - they seem to get up to all osrts in there, mine is definitely in the octpus category, especially when i'm lying down, not good for sleeping.
I've been to one of my NCT classes today and they've been lovely - we seem to have had loads, main benefit has been to talk through everything i'd already read about with other people in the same boat, they also seem like a nice sociable bunch which is good cos we've not lived down her long and don't know many people - luckily no prudes in our class!

mummyhill · 21/07/2005 18:05

I must confess I passed on the ante natal classes this time round as getting a baby sitter isn't allways possible. Hope things haven't changed too much in the three years since i did them. The only difference i can think of is this idea of exclusivley bf till 6 months.

Have an appointment at the hospital in the morning to check thyroid levels and to see the consultant re my birthing options. Physio is still recomending a section but i want to know what the risks of doing more damage to my spine are before i decide, won't be going for a section unless i really need to. EspecialY as my back has not been too bad for the last couple of days.

Sorry but i still don't feel particularly big, could be because of all the weight i lost at the begining of this pregnancy. Am just now at the same weight as i was when i first got pregnant. Hopefully September will see a new slimmer me, if so i will be going mad at christmas buying a new wardrobe.
