Here we go ladies - I'll C&P the stats in a tick. Don't forget to add the gender on if you find out at your scan

Saucepanman · 26/02/2010 18:16

Hello everyone, it has been ages since I last posted on here- combination of ill kids, self, BIL staying (grrr) and lousy internet connection! I ho.pe you're all well, I have no idea what I have missed and feel totally out of the loop!

I am 25w2d yet still feel like I have so far to go! I'm feeling fairly well now, just oh so tired and constantly drained. Haven't found out the sex of this baby. At present am still scheduled for a c-section on 1st June, though am hoping that will be brought forward a week. Have mw check next week then start fortnightly doppler scans from 28 weeks.

So.....what have I missed?!

Boobz · 26/02/2010 19:05

Thank you for a lovely welcome - will do my best to keep up!

wheredidmyfeetgo - Yes I remember you joining the HB thread Â?because I remember you said you were in Wiltshire, which is where my DH'Â?s parents are from. How's it all going? I am starting maternity leave (very early) on Monday so am in very good spirits!

And lots of other homebirthers! Great - there weren't so many on my first ante natal thread - seems to have become more popular in just a short year later.. I'Â?m pretty sure I have seen Milly post on a few HB threads as well...

mampam - thanks for the nod towards having a lot on my plate with 2 under 18 months... if I also told you DH was leaving to go to Africa on a posting from April 1st and I will be on my own with DD and dog up until birth, and then again after paternity leave I will be on my own with DD, newborn and bloody dog (needs 2 hours of walks a day - grrr) and then I have to pack up this house on my own and fly out to Sudan to join DH in September, with kids -would you think I was mad??
Hmmm...

MrsDmamee · 26/02/2010 19:06

littleRobbo dont remind, me my teenage son and my 3 year old love nothing better than to argue all day long

but im thinking the new baby will be a distraction for me, give me something else to do other than listen to the pair of toddlers

Boobz · 26/02/2010 19:06

Where the hell did all those silly A things come from?

Ponymum · 26/02/2010 21:03

Hello, I have not been posting much but have been roughly keeping up with the thread from time to time. I am very pleased to have just about made the 25 week mark, but can't believe how long pregnancy takes. It's not my favourite thing and I really want it to be over.

I have been carefully managing the SPD this time around after a horrific time last pg. It's a lot more difficult with a toddler around, especially when she is sick like she is at the moment, and constantly wanting to be picked up. Also I had to go to a meeting today in the rain while using those cursed crutches, i.e. no hope of carrying an umbrella - how do you think I looked when I arrived?

I love Penelope, in fact it's one of DD's middle names. MrP wouldn't let me use it as her first name as our surname starts with P so she would have ended up sounding like a comic book heroine.

MonkeyMargot · 26/02/2010 21:30

Ponymum just peeked at your profile pics. Gorgeous DD. My DD has the same M&P jangly pony! I'm a horsey girl too, and DD is showing every sign of being very keen... She has "ridden" my niece's welsh mountain a few times and now every time she sees a pony starts bouncing up and down in rising-trot style. V.sweet!

Ponymum · 27/02/2010 10:56

Hi monkey. Yes, I have to confess a little bit of, er, influence as far as DD's love of horsies! Her favourite book is Clip Clop (highly recommended) and she starts bouncing up and down whenever she sees a horse. Even donkeys are greeted with a neigh neigh.

Can I ask how old your DD was when you first sat her on a pony? I have a friend with a shetland and a miniature shetland and I'm wondering at what point we should try.

madamefreckle · 27/02/2010 14:48

Oh we lOVE Clip Clop - and re-enacting it!

MonkeyMargot · 27/02/2010 19:25

Ooh I must get that book!

ponymum she first sat on a pony at around 10 months, then not again til the other weekend (she is now 15 months). She had her feet in the leathers, and was led in hand with 2 adults either side of her just in case... She absolutely loved it.

imkeepingmum · 28/02/2010 14:18

Another horsey mum to be here! That book looks good, I must get that for the baby and start him/her REALLY young on the horse obsession

GibberingGinger · 28/02/2010 19:32

Well I've made my first purchase. And it's a biggy. In fact it's almost bus sized! It's a Fiat Ulysse (which is basically a citroen C8 or Peugeot 807) MPV. It fills all our criteria in that it fits three car seats in the back, it has sliding doors, it's diesel with a decent sized engine, it's got a cavernous boot, has low mileage and it was in our (very skint) price range. The compromises were it wasn't a Ford Smax (soooo can't afford one) and it's a Fiat (not prestigous brand, and possibly not that reliable) but I'm so happy just to have bought something and we can now spend our weekends and evenings doing something more interesting than looking at cars on the internet and garage forecourts . The fact that it was at the low end of our budget is also good cause now we have more free cash to spend on other things - though in reality might just use it to extend maternity leave.

Must start thinking about mat leave, my MATB1 needs to be handed in this week and I haven't decided when I'm leaving yet. Went at 35 weeks last time (though after annual leave it was officially 38 weeks that it started) but that was far too early cause by 42 weeks I was ridiculously bored and actually went back into work for a couple of days to take my mind off things! This time I'm thinking of putting down 37 weeks, and then just triggering mat leave to start earlier if I go off sick or if the babies arrive. But not sure if this is realistic. What is everyone else's plans?

AlwaysHopeful · 28/02/2010 20:03

I am finishing at 35 weeks and having a week of holiday in the Lakes in the first week of leave. We'll only be an hour away from the labour ward (preston) so don't think it's too risky.

I was also bored last time when I went overdue, but don't want to risk baby coming early and me not having had time adjust to my new "full time mummy" role rather than "working mum".

Feeling huge today. I had my first experience of my tea coming back up when I lay down in bed last night - am not impressed! I can't drink, have almost no interest in sex - food is my main pleasure and now it's coming back to get me!!!!

MonkeyMargot · 28/02/2010 20:25

Gibbering good work on your car purchase. You've officially done more than we have now - need to get a crack on! No progress on selling our house. Have gone with another agent now as first one ran out of steam. Had frenetic Saturday morning with 4 viewings and the agent didn't turn up so I had to show them round with dog and toddler in tow and DH at the football.

Can you remind me when you must hand in your MAT-B? I haven't got mine yet - I can't rememeber if I pick it up from the G.P or the hospital during one of my appts?

My Maternity leave officially starts when I'm 40 weeks - but am taking a month's holiday directly before so will really be 36 weeks. Unless of course babies arrive early. I need to work as late as possible to maximise my annual bonus which will fund my Mat leave, as I really want a full year off this time around.

AlwaysHopeful oh dear re. you regurgitating your tea....poor thing! But loving your " almost no interest in sex". I have absolutely no interest. Libido has gone, vanished, evaporated. Will it come back? only if DH has the snip I fear.

Hope everyone has had good weekends? Weather has been sh*te again. Boo. And DH and I had a major row on saturday so haven't really been speaking this weekend. I am just leaving him be in his cave. I can't be botherered to do the usual thing I do and smooth things over. He likes to stew for a couple of days then he slowly goes back to normal. Flaming men....

fillybuster · 28/02/2010 21:51

Just waving to say 'hi' and mark my place. Hope you've all had lovely weekends?

Welcome boobz, sounds like you're going to have your hands full pretty soon

Mampam, was so on your behalf, glad you've put in a proper complaint anyway. Hopefully you'll get better care from now on in?

GibberingGinger, congrats on the car! We haven't started looking yet, but our beaten up Mondeo will probably be ok to start with...I suspect dh will have a burst of car enthusiasm sometime in early May...

No proper plans yet, but I'll probably start mat leave from around 38 weeks, maybe 37, but not before. Both dcs were late and I know I won't be capable of doing much once I'm hippo sized anyway...

fillybuster · 28/02/2010 22:04

Sorry for the delay, ladies, but here it is, finally...

....drum roll....

...the all new, shiny and very exciting....

London bumps meet up thread

Come and make plans

madamefreckle · 28/02/2010 22:44

Ooh, jealous of London ladies!

My calf weirdness had disappeared by the evening so I think it was just weirdness and not DVT- I'm just on the alert about the possibility.

Alwayshopeful - Hopefully that was a one-off. Poor you.

Filly - Sadly our arguments, niggles and intolerances are not balanced by any displays of affection, public or otherwise! We are at an impasse and I'm now just hoping that the arrival of tiny-freckle might somehow unblock things although people always say that having a child can't fix a relationship. As for sex...basically forgotten it exists and worse than that, the thought of it with dp is mildly repellent to me at the moment. I'm really beginning to think that things here aren't recoverable. I have lost respect for him because of his business and the way he can't manage it and the amount of time and money that gets wasted through poor planning etc. Bla Bla Bla.

Come on SUNSHINE!! You've been tooooo looong!

Barbeasty · 01/03/2010 06:27

I finish work at 35 weeks, due to having so much annaul leave to use up before January, and go back in the New Year. I have printed out my calendar for the next few months and started crossing off/ counting down the working days left this year

I did think about starting later, but DH wants to go away for a few days, and if I get much bigger (which I know I will!) I can't see me wanting to drive over an hour commute each way to work.

The only big purchase we've made so far is a cotbed, which arrived and was put up last weekend. DH keeps wandering into the room and looking slightly pale when he comes out- I think it's making it far too real for him. Next weekend is pushchair shopping, as we were told by the shop we're going to that they like a 3 month lead time, just incase, so we'll see how he manages with that one.

I start back at my old job today- no more nights, weekends, on-call, responsibility.... I can't wait . I've been covering another job for the last 9 months, which has been fun but stressful, so this is perfect (and mostly coincidental) timing.

mampam · 01/03/2010 09:06

Hi all. Hope everyone had a fab weekend?

Barbeasty you were up early this morning!!

Boobz you'll be supermum by the time you've had the baby and afterwards when DH goes back to work.

CSWS yes I've got the changing bag in turquoise.

Always do you live in the Preston area? My DH is from Longridge.

I forgot to ask for my MAT-B1 when I saw MW last week. Where do I get one from now? Any ideas?

goodname · 01/03/2010 10:59

Hi everyone,
Had a fairly boring weekend here, first part of which spent looking 4 new car, second spent with a dodgy stomach I caught off my niece. Congrats on getting a car gibberingginger. We are still looking for something we want in our budget. Our old peugeot estate is due its MOT at begining of June and not sure if it will pass without lots of work so looking for something now to save hassle then. Been to a couple of car auctions but been to scared to buy anything yet. Going to another one tonight.

I am planning on working till I give birth. I am a partner in small family business but just work part time and can swap hours around as I want so should be able to do it. Have lots to do before I stop to try and sort out all my work while I am away. Would be nice if I could focus on that while I am at work instead of going on ebay and reading mumsnet!
Its lovely and sunny here by the way.

wheredidmyfeetgo · 01/03/2010 12:11

Hi all,

It's lovely and sunny here too. I just snuck out of the office to meet my DF, DS's and the Nanny to go and watch a St David's Day special steam train pass through the station (DF works for the railways and boys are obsessed by trains)It was nice to be out in the sun with my boys even though we were surrounded by train spotters!

We are also on the car hunt but that's DF's department as I don't drive. I think he has his heart set on a vito as we will need to fit 3 car seats in too and also a boxer dog. We also like to camp so it will give us all the room we need.

I'm planning on leaving mid may when I'll be 35 weeks. My first was 5 weeks warly and I was still at work at the time, so now I like to play it safe and make sure I have a little bit of time at home.

I haven't brought anything for this one apart from a little cardie in M&P the other day- it was only £3. We don't really need anything and also I don't know what we are having- but I think it's another little boy (i rather like the idea of being a mummy to 3 boys)

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying some sunshine.

fillybuster · 01/03/2010 12:23

Sunny here, but sadly stuck at my desk! Have got physio at the hospital this afternoon (sorry Mampam...I feel guilty that I get seen in London!), so will use that as an excuse to check out the outside world Tbh, my sciatica (very bad) and SPD (not that bad, just yucky twinges) have been massively improved by regular Pilates...a combination of focus on core muscles, posture, breathing and stretches. Hard to get there when working full time tho...!

Apart from the car, we have 2 other purchases to make:

  1. Baby bouncy chair...as before, open to suggestions Can't believe this is #3 and we still don't have one...!
  1. New bed for DS! Have decided to move DD into DS's child-size bed and get DS (who is only 4.5 but v v tall) a bigger (maybe adult) bed....DH is now on the hunt!

DS' room has now been redecorated and the sink in the corner removed, so we are getting ready (slowly) to move DD out of the nursery. She and DS are very excited about sharing a room, DH and I are a little less enthusiastic as we expect to get a lot less sleep....

herewegrow · 01/03/2010 12:38

Sunny here too also stuck at my desk.

Going on Maternity leave when I'm 36 weeks which will be the end of May. As of this week though I will be working 4 day weeks rather than 5. Still need to look into a getting a double buggy and am now starting to panic regarding the long lead times.

minimoonumbertwo · 01/03/2010 12:52

Oh am feeling so joyous & springlike today!!

Had quite a tough weekend with ds who was just a misery i think because of his conjunctivitis - sooooooo demanding & impatient so we decided the best thing was to take him in shifts to give him the one to one attention he needed! So didn't get much time with dh but some lovely time off & a much easier life than if we'd been looking after ds together. I have to say that's one think i am really looking forward to with two - it does feel as though life is centred around ds at the moment which can't be healthy for us or him.

Thanks so much filly for setting up London meet up - ooh it's like internet dating!!!

Woofie · 01/03/2010 13:52

Full of the joys of spring up here too Beautiful sunshine, the birds are singing and the snowdrops finally pushing through.

I'm planning to work until mid-May, when I'll be 37 weeks, but I have quite a bit of holiday to take, so am planning to go down to 4 days at the end of this month. I'm also taking 3 days off next week as it's ds's 4th birthday. The two of us are going to Chester for a couple of days to visit the zoo and stay in a hotel for his birthday treat. Don't know who's more excited.

Our whole family, including grandparents, was struck down by a hideous d+v bug last week - I seemed to have the mildest bout, but dh and m-i-l were really unwell for a couple of days, so we spent most of the weekend gently recovering.

Haven't bought much for the baby yet either - just a Huggababy sling. The only big spend we need to make is a pushchair. for those who've got hold of a Bugaboo, but i don't think we can justify the expense, so will probably end up with something less glamorous.

Really sorry to hear things are still tough with dh madamefreckle - I have a friend who's going through something similar with her partner + dealing with a 3-year-old and a newborn. Not easy. Do you have people around who can talk to about it openly?

So jealous of your London meal!
