Here we go ladies - I'll C&P the stats in a tick. Don't forget to add the gender on if you find out at your scan

Great news justbeme, look forward to seeing you! x

MrsDmamee · 23/02/2010 10:46

Morning All.

How is everywhere on this cold morning..at least the snow didnt last longer then a day here for me.

re: the sleeping, DH doesnt mind sharing for the whole 9 months as he is fast asleep before his head hits the pillow and never hears my 5+ bathroom trips, which are taking longer and longer each time.( all thanks to SPD) I'm usually hobbling and waiting for my legs to actually work. The sniffness is torture at times. And ive nearly given up and trying to turn in bed. But i managed to sleep quite well last night.

minimoonumbertwo · 23/02/2010 12:39

Hi All,

So sorry if i miss anything out as have just skim-read the last few days postings - justbeme i can't begin to imagine what you & your family are going through, seems like you've had some good practical advice on here though, hope it helps.

madamefreckle i hope things are continuing in the right direction with dh. Your post made me laugh, i too SEE all the dust & dirt but just get cross about it and do nothing beyond the essential!

Does anyone with dc's have any experience of getting them to keep their duvet on at night? Have put a posting in sleep as we moved ds out of his grobag and into duvet on Saturday night as he was getting excema on his stomach i think from too many layers. He is now waking a couple of times a night as the duvet has come off. Luckily he goes back to sleep immediately but does anyone have any tips on how to keep it on or is it just a matter of time? Thank you and sorry to ramble!

mmmmmmmmmm lunchtime at last, who was it who made a heart shaped victoria sponge?? That is what i am dreaming of right now!!

MillyMollyMoo · 23/02/2010 13:00

You can buy a duvet sheet set from bumpto3 which is like a giant sleeping bag and cotton, so cool against the skin.
Or we put DD in a snuggle sack when she seemed so small in a big bed.
Now she lies like a star fish, bear bum to the wind and sleeps straight through so I wonder if it's just a case of chuck the duvet on and leave them to it as long as the house is warm enough.

perkster · 23/02/2010 13:17

Hello again,

Haven't been on here for a while. Many thanks for the sleeping advice, that has put my mind at rest!

I haven't had a chance to read through all the recent postings, apologies but I hope all you ladies are doing well.

I thought I would share our 'working title' which is Rolfaroo as my other half (PB) has a beard and glasses so we reckon the bump probably looks like the signature Rolf Harris uses of his head on a kangaroo's body! We don't know what the sex is, which I have to keep reminding PB about! Any other working titles out there?

georgee · 23/02/2010 13:27

We know we're having a girl so my sister calls her 'Phyllis'. You can probably guess that that particular name isn't on the shortlist (apologies to any Phyllises out there!)

MillyMollyMoo · 23/02/2010 13:30

Mine have always started out as "the bean" and then once they are born they are a "baked bean" ! God knows why seems funny at the time.

gizmo · 23/02/2010 13:32

Hello Perkster - I like the idea of a working title...a rough draft, so to speak? Nothing particularly thought-out here, although I think DS2 is keen on the name 'squash' judging by how often I am met with the shout of 'squash the baby' and a giggling attempt to climb on my tummy . This is a habit I'm going to have to cure him of over the next 3 months I guess.

Milly DS2 went through a phase of this, although I often found him stillwrapped in the duvet on the floor. One thing that seemed to help - although it was a hassle - was putting his duvet into a double duvet cover and tucking the excess of duvet well under the mattress on both sides. Makes it much harder to kick it all off. A sheet over the top would probably have a similar effect.

LaTrucha · 23/02/2010 13:43

Jojomamanbebe do these. I've no idea if they're any good.

I'm thinking of using a snuggle sac as DD spins constantly in the night. I tried using a pillow to keep her one way up, but she didn't like it and just kept getting wedged in sideways because she was trying to avoid it.

Absolutely the worst night of insomnia last night. I'm going to try and not have a nap while DD is sleeping today as I have been as I've got a stinky cold and I don;t think the cold or the nap is helping night sleep. Exhausted though.

minimoonumbertwo · 23/02/2010 14:36

milly, gizmo, latrucha thank you all sooooo much! Reckon we'll try the double duvet cover trick tonight & if that doesn't work get some of those clips. Brilliant!!

our working title for ds1 was Lenny as he was the size of a lentil when we found out i was pregnant - we were going to have it as his middle name but chickened out! I like Phyllis, seems like a very 'bump' name!

Have fun tonight Herts ladies, am jealous of your night out

LaTrucha · 23/02/2010 14:56

DD was Lenteja - which is lentil in Spanish (DH is Spanish). We must have been looking at the same baby development website, I think!

This one is Agamemnon - for reasons which are too poncy to explain.

minimoonumbertwo · 23/02/2010 15:03

oh really latrucha how funny! Lenteja soooo much more classy than Lenny!

Please do tell me the story of Agamemnon...

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/02/2010 15:08

I'd like to know your poncey reason LaT.
We haven't got any further than 'the baby' or 'it' with this one. First pregnancy (m/c) was 'pebble', dd was 'chip'(both related to our surname), and not sure what if anything we called ds.

Dh and I don't sleep in the same bed, and haven't done for more than a handful of nights since ds was a month or two old, which is part of the reason that this baby was such a shock! It is lovely having a superking bed to myself, and not having to listen to his snoring!

minimoonumbertwo · 23/02/2010 15:25

am just ploughing through a packet of dry roasted peanuts - please someone tell me this okay? i don't have allergies but dh gets hayfever...

goodname · 23/02/2010 15:36

We have pretty much decided on Fergus for a name so we just call the baby that mostly, I like having a name to call him, makes it more real

I am in same bed as DH, I cant sleep if he's not there actually and he hasn't complained about being woken up too much. I do go and sleep in the spare room if I am very restless or he is snoring too loud but harldy ever.

The milton sterilizer worked amazingly well at removing mould, can hardly believe it. Need quite a lot and needs steeped overnight I think.

Had peanuts in my stir fry last night, cant imagine they could actually do any harm and I am usually super cautious.

minimoonumbertwo · 23/02/2010 16:05

thanks goodname and LOVE Fergus!

wheredidmyfeetgo · 23/02/2010 16:17

Minimoonumbertwo I ate peanuts in both my previous pregnancies and everything was fine. No history of allergies on either side. I had a craving for anything salty!

LaTrucha I would like to know too? Spill.

Goodname One of my closest friends is going for Fergus- I think it's gorgeous.

Hope all you ladies meeting up enjoy your night out tonight.

I have just received my pre course work for the Doula training course I'm attending ext month so I'm feeling rather excited at the moment- but I must get on and do some real work.

LaTrucha · 23/02/2010 16:25

Fergus is lovely.

Ok, so the story is that SIL is having a boy in a few weeks and calling him Hector. DH and I both studied literature amongst other things and have both read Homer's Illiad, in which Hector is the leader of the Trojans. We both thought it was an odd name to choose. It's really rare in Spain, or should I say unheard of. I joked that we should call ours Agamemnon - the leader of the Acheans / other side (we had just read it in a baby name book and commented about THAT name that no one would ever call their child that). It just kind of stuck.

I told you it was poncy

Oh yes, the Iliad does throw up some cracking names: Andromanche, Dolon, Hecuba...all very stirring stuff.

And dear ole' Agamemnon. I'm wondering what his friends used as a diminutive: Aga, perhaps? Nommie?

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/02/2010 17:40

Memmy for short I reckon.

Fergus is a great name goodname. It was our early front runner, but then I remembered that I know one in the village already, so we're looking at something else now (if it's a boy).

Peanuts are fine to eat. Advice has been changed in last year or so. Enjoy (and save a few for me)!

Woofie · 23/02/2010 19:14

Have a great night tonight, Herts girls I'm assuming I'm still a billy no mates oop north...

for agamemnon laTrucha and obv Clytemnestra (Clytie??) for a girl. I know a couple of little Hectors, actually, one of whom has a sister called TigerLily...

Ds was The Plum in utero (no doubt based on Sheila Kitzinger's fruit analogies), but since being born has been The Bean or Pobble or Widget. Must get out more. This one is mainly Flipper, though we're testing out Laurie too. Ds insists on calling him Frankie, and I'm assuming will continue to do so after the birth - he's not easily persuaded to change his mind. Dss (9) calls him The Thing or VOldemort (on the basis of newborns' red wrinkles...) Poor kid's going to be very confused.

Love Fergus too goodname

gizmo · 23/02/2010 19:20

Oh yes, how could I forget Clytemnestra? Can't imagine why that one isn't more widely used .

LOL at Voldemort...has a certain ring to it!

LaTrucha · 23/02/2010 20:17

Yeah, we were going for Clytemnestar for a girl.

Aggie for short, surely?

What on earth are we going to call our boy? We need something that is written and pronounced the same in Spanish and English, that we like, and that isn't Pablo or Frederico which we both like but can't have.

We have three lined up but we're not wild about any of them. Hmm...

MillyMollyMoo · 23/02/2010 20:54

Woofie I'm North West but no doubt we'd both be asleep on the bar by 10pm so am not sure I'm worth getting dressed up for lol
