Welcome to the March Preggos. Here's hoping we see nearly 1000 posts before anyone pops!

I kept meaning to post, but really wanted to spend some time catching up with everyone's news...just in case...and of course the longer I left it, the longer it took me to catch up on all the news! As my DH was also at Man U yesterday, I actually had some time to read through in relative peace and quiet

Oh dear, your poor late gerbil Pixie! But more poor children seeing him.

After I posted this morning, I went off to have a bath - just looking for half an hour's peace & quiet from DD. Of course DH left the stair gate open (and our bathroom door doesn't close properly), so DD kept popping in to see me, to help wash me, and generally be very annoying sweet. I eventually lost it and pleaded to be left alone. DH thankfully got the hint!

Rinders Hurrrray for you being back! ( And thanks for the photo comments - if you thought I looked good, did you clock the bride?! As soon as she put on her dress I burst into tears at the thought of my little sister being a bride..) Glad you're ok.

Pixie Hurrray for you losing plug some more. Can't be long now.... (But eeew about the gerbil)

Pacific just looked at elk's page and realised that I've driven through the Trossachs. Lovely lovely beautiful place. Enjoy. But elk .... I dont want to go hiking

Mumof7+4 OK I shall not fight your corner. You're barking. Clearly. I just didn't want our thread to be the theme of some AIBU "Can you believe what these women said to me on Antenatal!?" kind of malarky....

Today we showed DS(4) and DD (2) some video footage of their first days, first baths, meeting each other for the first time etc etc to get them prepared for having the baby. Their response was to both insist on being treated like an infant for the next half hour. Very cute. And it has made me excited but possibly even deeper entrenched into the land of Denial.

Hi everyone, quick question, is anyone suffering with hip pain? I can hardly move my legs when I'm laying on my side.

Bit concerned about what that means for the c-section but hoping it can be cured with Radox

xx

Arcadie · 07/02/2010 20:23

Mumbot Yes. Sciatic nerve running through my Piriformus muscle according to my physio/massagey lady. Ouchy ouchy ouchy McOuch of the Clan Ouch.

Evening, all!

Yes, we did make it to the Trossachs today; it is only 45min down the road so set off after a v late leisurely start to the day. It was grey, but dry, not quite as gorgeous as on the tourist board's picture gallery, mind... But was nice to see friend and her DD and have all kids get dirty busy in the great outdoors.
Even many layers of denial could not hide the fact that I am currently NOT fit for major climbing up trees expeditions ... DSs were v disappointed in me!

Orded curtains for DS4's nursery today here - Traffic Jam in Cobalt. Feel like I have achieved something and done something productive apart from sitting around and not climbing trees .

Hip pain, yes, on and off, but not as bad as last time.
Tight uncomfortable bump like one big long BH, yes, every time I even stand up, never mind if I do anything at all.
Heartburn, yes, just cracked open lovely new bottle of Gaviscon. I take swigs straight from the bottle at night .
Having said that, just had fillet steak and really enjoyed it (DH had been shopping), but know I will pay later. Never mind!

Have a nice evening!

mawbroon · 08/02/2010 08:56

Morning all - gosh, this thread is moving so fast, as is the February one where I am also hiding out. I would have trouble keeping up at the best of times, but my brain is really fuddled just now.

I am finding it hard to get comfy just now. I need to keep my broken ankle elevated, but I know that leaning back with feet up is not a good position. If I sit like that for too long then I feel a bit nauseous after a while. I sort of alternate it with hanging forward over a kitchen chair, or going on all fours with my plaster hanging over the edge of the sofa.

I keep feeling legs at the front of my bump. It's making me wonder if the baby is back to back just now, which of course won't be helped by reclining....

Pacific - yes, I am scottish. Living in Edinburgh. I have gleaned that you are 45mins from the Trossachs, but that covers quite a large area!! Where about are you? Only if you want to say, of course!!

BlueyDragon · 08/02/2010 10:49

Morning all! Loving this maternity leave lark (sorry for those not there yet, your days will come; if it makes you feel any better I've got some work to do this week although not on IWCAS's scale. A handover note might be a good idea so they have some idea of what they're supposed to be doing).

DH and I had the Last Night of Freedom on Saturday - Mum babysat and we went to the most gorgeous hotel in the New Forest. Utter bliss, better hang on to that memory. Timing worked out well because I got my promotion - heard on Friday shortly after the interview. Have been promised VERY good champagne to celebrate once BabyDragon is here but at least I got a lie in/rugby match watching session as compensation for the lack of booze .

IWCAS, sorry to hear about your work but about ex/not-ex P. I really hope that works out for you whatever happens.

Contraception? We're definitely stopping at 2 and DH has genuinely offered to have the snip (I think because he thinks I might try and sneak in No 3 when he's not looking). Had the non-hormone coil post DD and it was a good solution for us, although (caution, TMI alert) it did give me very heavy periods.

Welcome to all the newbies, big waves to everyone else.

MummyElk · 08/02/2010 12:40

v quick because i'm at work but how about this

mawbroon · 08/02/2010 13:08

at that MummyElk. Clearly a bit crazy I would say.....

mumbot · 08/02/2010 13:10

Oh mummyelk that's a perfect example of good intentions gone bonkers

That's a technical term x

Arcadie · 08/02/2010 13:27

is right. I think the comments underneath sum it up perfectly.

mumofsevenplusfour · 08/02/2010 13:43

mawbroon and pacificdogwood
also living in scotland west lothian to be exact
only 4 weeks in theory to go and getting completely fedup just want to meet the bump but on past history will be here for another 6 weeks
seriously thinking of tucking into pineapple covered in very hot curry sauce [grin}followed by 20 minutes on the trampoline . i might leave the trampoline out for today but if im still expanding in 4 weeks who knows i could always claim temporary insanity doubt it will have any effect but would love bump to arrive sooner rather than later
mummyelk headmistress in article completely bonkers imho

PacificDogwood · 08/02/2010 13:46

at headmistress! What example does she set? You have to be superwoman to "have it all" (I hate that expression)?

mawbroon, we are in the Central Belt in sunny Lanarkshire . Used to live in Glasgow so know that better, but are closer to Edinburgh now. The Glasgow MNers have a fairly regular meet-up at times. And the one and only MNer I know in RL lives in the same village as us - she twigged before I did !

Congratulations on promotion, BlueyDragon, that's phantastic! And at your DH 'volunteering' for the snip, teehee. Do you mean to suggest he does not trust you??? How very dare he?

Arcadie, awww how cute was your DCs's reaction to their own baby footage? I am sure they will make great older siblings.
My DS3 on the other hand whacked 3 children in the toddler group this morning - and he knows no mercy! I am already feeling sorry for his little brother and me having to deal with it.

PacificDogwood · 08/02/2010 13:49

Oh, hi, mumofsevenplusfour, x-posted with you.
Now see, I am planning on going overdue as I want some mat leave at home before I need to do night feeds again, gah!

mawbroon · 08/02/2010 14:04

Hey! Mumofseven. When I had my ds in Oct 2005, there was a lady in the same ward just had her seventh. This was in West Lothian.

Wonder if it was you......

Pacific - I've met a few of the Glasgow MNetters. They often come to the Edinburgh meets too. Not sure when I will next get out to a meetup though. I have no idea when my ankle will be healed enough to drive.

I want to go overdue as well. Every day overdue will help with the strengthening of my ankle. But I only want to go 8 days over because on day 9 (8th march) I am booked in for section because they won't induce me. Too much risk of rupture apparently what with previous section and a bicornuate uterus.

PacificDogwood · 08/02/2010 14:13

Oh, yeah, your ankle - that's just awful for you.
I got my VBAC last time but went 12 days overdue, had 2 sweeps, acupuncture, Raspberry Leaf Tea caps, lots and LOTS nad LOTS of physical activity (I still think it was pushing DS2 on his bike without stabilisers that got me into labour overnight ). I was, admittedly, pretty much hellbent on having a go at VB...

How knows, we might meet in RL one day !

mumofsevenplusfour · 08/02/2010 14:16

no mawbroon not me but i do think i know who you are taltning about my dc7 was dec 06
partly want to go as darling parents have decided to visit from late feb to a week before bump arrives they knew back in july when bump was due but always manage to avoid babysitting and it would be quite nice to have somebody to keep an eye on other children otherwise i will be going it alone again with dp staying at home on child care duties as happened last time
also would rather not be induced as although dc7 was induced there not keen because of parity and had a cs with number 1 and they worry about the risk of rupture etc but when the apple is ripe it will fall.
just hope it falls of its own accord and doesnt need to be forced

mumofsevenplusfour · 08/02/2010 14:17

should have read talking not taltning

BulletProofMum · 08/02/2010 14:44

Gosh - you've been busy this weekend!

Pacific: I think I managed to shock the medical profession in Surrey with the pregnancy on the Mirena. Unfortunately no one suspected that I was pregnant until I was in severe pain with a ruptured ectopic until I was A&E.

I guess it could have ben worse!

At least it has lead to DC3 (something I wanted but DH was dead against). I'd have never persuaded him to have the mirena removed and it paved the way for an accident. Although with a tube down on one side and large ovarian cysts on t'other the chances of conceiving again were quite slim!

My bump is so sore and achy now - it feels like I did 200 sit ups yesterday. Ont he one hand I can't stand the discomfort any more ont he other desperate for a couple fo weeks to myself between finishing work and baby arriving. Finsh a week on Friday but struggling to get any work done with lack of focus and insomnia

BulletProofMum · 08/02/2010 14:52

I did manage to get the baby studd organised at the w/end so it does feel real now! I couldn't quite bring myself to pack my bag!

I had forgotten how small newborn clothes are and found myself with a tear in my eye of excitement (and trepidation)- [hormonal mummy emoticon]
