mamaloco and jardins I too am having to deal with a stressed out DP as he tries to finish up his work before I am induced tomorrow.

We had a really horrible weekend because he has had such a short fuse and is so preoccupied with being able to get everything done in time. It has made me feel more stressed and upset and my DD has also picked up on the tension. So much for the lovely last weekend spoiling her rotten we had planned. Trying not to get too cross about it but surely having this baby is more important right now??? My Mum arrives today and I think I will collapse in a heap of tears when I see her. Hopefully by the time tonight comes and he has finished work he can focus on the baby and be a bit nicer to us...not much to ask!

Sorry for 'poor me' post and sympathies to those with broken limbs and C-section news, sounds like some of you are not far off labour either, GOOD LUCK ALL!

westlondongirl · 26/01/2010 11:10

Hi AbsB - I think you are also at QCCH - how did you get a tour of the delivery suite etc? I thought because of swine flu they had stopped them? Lord knows I would feel a lot better if I could have a quick look.

Have a scan in a week to see if placenta has moved.

Getting terrible hip and hand cramps at night which stops me sleeping. Spend most mornings at 3am trashing the cupboards to find the paracetomol.

Despite all the niggles I think I will miss being pregnant. Maybe i'm a bit weird?!

Have developed a new and expensive habit of breaking things and tripping over. Managed to break our heavy old TV (and nearly my foot) when I toppled it off the table. Smashed the cafetiere yesterday. DP says I shouldn't touch anything else! Just hoping I don't break the baby.

Looking forward to the next birth anouncement!!

GuernseyFrench · 26/01/2010 11:39

Flyingcloud I'm from Clermont-Ferrand originally but I've been living in Guernsey for the last 8 years.

I've got my induction date: Tuesday 2nd Feb, sue to go to hospital at 8am and 1st gel will be done at 9am. So sometimes next week another Feb baby will appear... unless he decides to come before

Good luck to all of you book for a cs this week!

woowa · 26/01/2010 11:42

Westlondongirl i don't think it's weird to imagine missing being PG. It's been a lovely time, despite all the health niggles, of waiting with excitement and anticipation, of having a lovely growing bump, of getting ready. And it's a scary thought that a new person will be in all our lives soon. eek!

Hi all. Goodluick for those with inductions and csections over the next few days.
Just come back from my sacan babys estimated weight at the mo is 3500g (7lb 7oz
) already 1/2lb more than my heaviest and 3 weeks left to go ....!!!! He is 60% engaged on the scan..
Also mentioned my piles and the gynae had a look and said.. Ohh you must be in some pain, I think you need an operation I will call the surgeon!!!.. the surgeon came and said I need you to see my colleague, so I have to go and see another surgeon on Thursday to see if they are going operate as it is a blood clot which is why it is hurting so much.. Or if they are going to try other therapyu first.
Not impressed about op as have a fear of being put to sleep and have been told it will be a general if it is needed. So fingers crossed for thursday..
I know things arent as bad for me as others but i cant help feeling that everything is going wrong at the mo just one thing after another... MW asked me today how i was still laughing and smiling i told her, because if i dont I am going to cry and dont think i will stop!!.

Sorry for the long rant..thanmks for reading...

GuernseyFrench · 26/01/2010 12:04

Good luck for Thursday 3+1 they may be able to relief the pain for you.

sunnybump · 26/01/2010 12:20

Hi everyone, just catching up after a busy few days. Good to hear all of your ailments, concerns, Braxton Hicks and loose bowels - at least I know I'm normal!

I was speaking to my Yoga teacher about not being able to have a home birth and she told me the birth story of her friend, also a yoga pregnancy teacher. After plans for an active minimal intervention birth she was rushed in for an EMCS due to complications. She said she was so glad to have the calming breathing exercises to focus on as it helped her cope with the unexpected way her baby was born, and that meant she still enjoyed it. I just thought it was a lovely reassuring story to share.

36+5 today. Went baby stuff shopping with MIL yesterday and she is so excited. I decided it was a good time to be quite stern and remind her that yes...it might be next week, but it could also be another 5 and a half weeks of me waddling round very slowly and getting up every hour in the night, I think she got the hint!

Take care and good luck for those of you with scheduled babies this week

flyingcloud · 26/01/2010 13:03

GOOD LUCK MAMALOCO and CLAPPEDOUT

Is anyone else due to be induced soon?

Guernsey do you miss France? I love living here, even if I complain every now and again!

GuernseyFrench · 26/01/2010 13:29

Flying yes I miss it sometimes especially the possibility to take the car/train and go 'away' for the weekend as over here we have to take the ferry or plane in order to get out of the island. But I also appreciate the way of life over here which is far more relaxing than in France.

galadriel77 · 26/01/2010 13:47

Hello all,

39 weeks today and my body seems to have given up the ghost a bit in the last few days. I tried to walk home from the doctors yesterday and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever. Is usually a brisk 10 minute walk and it took me 40 mins and it felt as if the baby was going to fall out. Not a good feeling!!

NURSING BRAS! After our chat about bras last week I have been researching and looking on line. I found an underwired bra that comes very highly recommended on Figleaves and also by midwives etc. It is the ANITA underwire nursing bra - comes in different styles - lace/jaquard. Anyway - I was about to order one on Figleaves - wincing at the cost of £35 plus postage making a total of £38.50. I thought I'd have a look at other sites and found a FAB website called www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk It has got detailed instructions on how to MEASURE yourself. I got the same bra but it only cost me £30.99 (free postage). So a good saving of £8 which is quite a lot. www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/ShowDetails.asp?id=103 Take a look at the website as they've got a huge range of stock. I ordered on Wed 20th and they said they had just ran out of stock but I would get it asap and it arrived this morning - quick delivery considering they had to wait for stock. They usually deliver the next day.

galadriel77 · 26/01/2010 13:51

Meant to say as well that I tried the bra on as soon as it arrives and it seems to be a really good fit - I followed their measuring instructions and it came out at the size I was wearing already.

It was snug on the last hooks so has space to be tightened when ribs deflate a bit! And the cups has some space and stretch in for when my milk comes in. I remember from experience before that my boobs were only ginormous at about 3 days when my milk came in and if I needed to feed - the rest of the time I didn't need such a huge cup size so have stuck to what I am now. I would say that if you are in an E or something now and that is extra snug then you would need to go up but if you've got a little space and can fit a hand in the cup without straining you'll be fine in that cup size.

AbsB · 26/01/2010 15:04

Galadriel that is great advice on nursing bras... I will look at the website after work but that sounds like just the right thing to do!!! I have jumped from a 36D to a 40G!!!! and can't quite imagine being any bigger...

Westlondongirl DP and I got a tour of QC because I have a one-to-one midwife. They aren't allowing people in because of swine flu and we had to rub our hands with gel. I was so apprehensive about a hospital birth that MW thought it a good idea to show me the ward. I don't know if there's any way you can get in there??? Let me just tell you though, it has completely put my mind at rest as it is so calm, clean and spacious. Having had my appendix out in May and having been on a very busy ward, I was completely dreading the hospital birth, but the staff were SO FRIENDLY and the place was pretty impressive. If I'd known I would have gone in there with a video recorder... Damn! Try talking to the supervisor of mw? Good luck

woowa · 26/01/2010 15:57

Galadriel - thanks for the Anita tip. We talked at NCT on saturday with the breast feeding cousellor about nursing bras and i think she recommended that one too. I've decided to get a couple of wraparound mothercare ones (very unsexy, white or pale pink!) which are just stretchy and any cup size (sized 8,10,12,14,16 etc) until milk arrives (and i might stay in my pyjamas til then anyway!) then get measured (in a local shop recommended by her too - she says places like that are usually better than m&s/mothercare), and then buy gorgeous ones! It'll be nice to be in something other than the TWO bras i've been wearing for the last 8 months - they are so hideous, and getting a bit grey now!!

AbsB - am at a hospital somewhere entirely diferent, but my experience is that the maternity wing here is much more calm and lovely than normal bits of hospital too. I expect most of them make a proper effort to make it so. especially since we are constantly told that the calmer we are the easier the birth! You'd hope it would be a calm environment!!

Just back from getting the cats vaccinated. I woke up suddenly (fortunately!) having fallen asleep reading, had ten minutes to grab pet box from shed, get cats in and to the vets. Not easy when 38 weeks pg and one escapes from the box while you get the other and hides under the bed. Fortunately DH is working at home and could poke cat out with a stick as it's not easy lying on the floor at the moment! Glad that's over now. silly cats.

And now back to sleep i think!!

clappedout and mamloco just wanted to wish you both all the best for your imminent arrivals. Hope you get chance to pop back on here soon to tell us how it all went.

My mum arrived today to stay until after the birth. I am so pleased to have her here and help out a bit. Makes it all seem a bit more real though. Almost like I am supposed to be having a baby quite soon! SHe doesn't want to know the sex either and it is really tricky not to let slip, especially as I have know it is a boy for almost 20 weeks now.

bethylou · 26/01/2010 22:35

Good luck to those whose births are imminent. Chinook - what happened about your liver and stuff? (Hoping my memory has the right person?) I've been out for my last social girlie evening tonight and have been given lovely smelly relaxation stuff to use in the next few weeks so off to make the most of it!

FluffyCoo · 26/01/2010 23:07

Best of luck Mamaloco and Clappedout - hope everything goes well and we get to hear happy birth announcements from you both soon!

3+1 - ow, that does not sound pleasant, good luck with your appointment.

Not sure where I am with my home birth at the mo, MW was supposed to come round on Monday and do the paperwork, but can't see me till Friday (at which point I'll be 38 weeks) he said if i go into labour in the meantime i should just tell the labour ward I'm down for a home birth and it'll be fine... [ever so slightly nervous emoticon].

One of the girls in my NCT group gave birth last week (before finishing the course!) so I get to have a cuddle of her DS tomorrow... can't wait!

flyingcloud · 27/01/2010 07:52

We have a new one - I'm sure she wont mind me posting as she possibly has other things on her mind right now.

So exciting!

Here

AbsB · 27/01/2010 08:21

That is amazing! Her blog made me cry, what a little darling!

fiziwizzle · 27/01/2010 08:47

fiziwizzle · 27/01/2010 08:54

Nikki glad it wasn't labour (unless you wanted an early one too?!). Keep taking the codeine, I was prescribed it for my back pain over Christmas, and was told it's ok to take in preg (obviously).

threeplusone you poor thing, sounds agonising, good luck with tomorrow's appointment.

Galadriel great bra advice. I'm just psyching myself up to spend over £30 on a bra, usually getting them in the sale at M&S for a tenner or so... [cheapskate emoticon]

GF what news on your latent labour?

Clappedout best of luck for today (sure you're not on MN but sending good vibes your way!).

Mamaloco good luck for tomorrow.

Does everyone know it's a full moon on Saturday? I heard somewhere (probably MN) that more babies get born on a full moon. Probably nonsense, but... !

comeonbishbosh · 27/01/2010 09:43

Dammit, one hours sleep last night. Legs too restless, baby jumping around non-stop, head spinning with baby name possibilities! And today builders in (mostly down in the cellar which at least isn't too much in the way, but the dust, the dust...), midwife coming and delivery of a clothes rack at any point all day. So a good deep relaxation doesn't look on the cards either.

I might have to eat a cake.

flyingcloud · 27/01/2010 09:58

bishbosh I am in my final week of working from home and I would do anything to stop and start baking. What kind of cake would you like?

Seriously though you have my sympathies - sleeplessness is frustrating (but I somehow don't find it as bad as normal insomnia).

Just wondered - how bad is it really sleeping on my back? I keep waking up on my back and it's such a much more comfortable position than on my side. If I don't move I can usually get back to sleep quickly, but if I do turn over on to my left side I am usually awake for an hour or so before I drop off again, but I am scared of what I might do to my baby by sleeping on my back.

GuernseyFrench · 27/01/2010 11:06

I can't believe there is another baby who has appeared! Congrats IC Fiziwizzle I'm still having mild period like pains and backache but as nothing else is happening, I am just learning to be patient

flyingcloud I was told that sleeping on my left side is the best BUT I'm like you I always wake up on my back. I also think that as long as baby is not kicking the hell out of you when you're on your back, he must be comfortable. Also we need all the sleep that we can get!

threeplusone · 27/01/2010 11:19

Huge congratualtions IC.

Good luck those booked in for inductions and csections over the next few days.

woowa · 27/01/2010 11:55

eek! Another early one! Well done Immaculada. Oh, i want to cry! I'm so looking forward to meeting my little one, I'd love it to come a couple of weeks early. ie, today...
