Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
maygirl · 14/01/2010 20:53

Hope you get your VBAC skidoodle. I'm the same, won't be induced, have to go in on edd 28th Jan to set an elective ELCS date for the sometime between 41 and 42 weeks.

I've got some gym passes if you fancy it ampster !! Suspending my membership from 30th Jan, so need to use up, would be funny, 2 huge bumps bouncing through a step class! I did step in late pregnancy with DS1, but it pounded my bladder a fair bit!

Hi sazlocks, just got my DS some gifts from the baby too, including a small baby doll- will see if he is an AP 'daddy' with it !

somewhathorrified · 14/01/2010 21:39

Very quick update, tinyhorrified turned up this morning at 5.15am in an ambulance outside hospital doors, we're all well and at home (eventually) and completely knackered. Will let you know all the gory details later...good luck to all about to drop, those that have just dropped etc. Night night.

alibobins · 14/01/2010 22:09

somewhat Congratulations can't wait to here all the details

flyingma · 14/01/2010 22:21

somewhat Hurrah WD thanks for the update, rest well and hope to hear the story tomorrow or when you find the time/ energy! x

sock Just read your order in the Whinge Cafe thread - you are allowed sushi just not the nice stuff. Info here - not got to the end of the thread so if someone else has said this, ignore me. I spent 12 weeks sulking at DH over sushi before I googled and found that link from the FSA.

Fraochsmum · 14/01/2010 23:06

Brilliant Somewhat!!! Hope you are all well, look forward to hearing more sometime but best wishes for tonight x
Crumpette - bloody hell! That is just horrendous, like the thing that is foremost on your mind is how his sex life is going to suffer???!! I really do wish you all the best, vent away here as much as you need.
Cara is doing well - mw here today and weighed her again, she is now 1oz more than birth weight (last tuesday), which she said was excellent for a bf baby - hooray for the mighty boobs doing their job!

Biccy · 15/01/2010 00:12

Skidoodle, great news that baby has turned to a perfect position; it must have been a really difficult decision though, having got all ready to meet your baby.

Congratuations somewhat, looking forward to the full story. Hope you get some sleep tonight.

crumpette, just can't believe your P;

I saw chiropracter today for pre-labour alignment of pelvis (have been seeing her regularly since beginning of pregnancy due to excruciating hip pain at 12 weeks). She is also a midwife, and confirmed again that the baby is in the right position. She said he or she has a very hard bottom - had to use her wooden ear trumpet to confirm which way up baby was; midwife I saw last week did exactly the same thing, so it was nice to hear it from two totally independent people.

DP and I have just done dry run putting put he birth pool and discussed all the things that need to be done once labour starts. I've even done an A4 sheet with essential instructions and put it on the top of my birthing box. Slightly worried as he wants to prop the floor under the pool. Have insisted he do it first thing in the morning! Have also realised there isn't room for labouring on the floor in the same room as we're putting the pool, so he's also under orders to get the curtains up in the other room first thing, and we've decided to set it up as my alternative labouring space. I'm really excited now about meeting the babe, doing all that tonight made all seem so real and close (even though it could still be 3 or so weeks of course).

Baby has just been pushing so hard that it was moving the keyboard drawer in and out of the desk as I have been typing!

ampster, I wouldn't think it decadent to have a service wash. Is DS recovered now? Sounds horrendous.

chickbean · 15/01/2010 07:25

Doh! When I was lying in bed this morning I was starting to believe that things were starting - bit of a tummy ache, lower back pain. Now I'm up and doing things I'm not so sure and I need to let DH know whether he should go to work. Can't be stopping him every day if it's a false alarm as I'm not due for ten days.

sockmonkey · 15/01/2010 07:58

Crumpette ((hugs)) Just want to echo what evryone else has been saying. We are all here for you to vent to. Hope you recover soon x

somewhat Huge congratulations!! Although giving birth in the ambulance sounds a bit...extreme. Hope all is well with you.

Will be taking the boys to school today. Snow is melting a bit now. Maybe walking will get things going. DH is desperate for me to have the baby NOW!
Better get ironing and making sandwiches.

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 15/01/2010 08:38

Morning all

crumpette thinking of you and bubs hope you're ok, I won't join in the dp bashing as I think they all have they're moments, mines being a bit off hand and its really pissing me off but I'm ignoring at the mo until I explode. Yours is obviously more serious than that, take care and keep well.

somewhat congratulations and lovely snuggles.

bethoo* hope your ok noticed you've not been on for a while.

Hope everyone else with and still waiting for babies is ok.

I'm still here, due tomorrow and increasingly fed up. Kids are saying its GOT to come tomorrow because you said, hope I don't disappoint them. Nothing to report at mo but its a long day so heres hoping.

Check back later.

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 15/01/2010 08:44

chickbean does dp work far, if not I'd let him go and see how things progress I've had so many times when I thought it was happening, pains lasted for 3 hours and then stopped and now it happens everyday. If it is the real thing, Good luck

chickbean · 15/01/2010 08:45

Have decided it's a false alarm and sent DH off to work.

Only just read your post somewhat - congratulations!!!

sazlocks · 15/01/2010 09:47

huge congrats somewhat
chickbean - snap ! I had some niggles in the night and have sent DH off to Tumble Tots with DS with strict instructions to keep his mob in his pocket. In the meantime I have done some more basic preparations such as having a shower, shaving under my arms and painting my toe nails (don't ask me how I reached them - lets just say the position required was most undiginified).
The niggles have stopped for now but I keep thinking about that bloody new moon today !We are out to dinner with friends tomorrow night so I hope the baby waits til after that !
flyingma hope things get going for you soon. It was me who placed an order in the winge cafe for sushi and I am most excited that I could have it today if I wanted to ! I also have a huge craving for prawns - prawn cocktail to be precise. Very similar to my last pregnancy.
Biccy so lovely hearing about your prep for a homebirth - I hope it all goes to plan.

bethoo · 15/01/2010 11:37

gosh i have missed alot since being hectic here!
Kira finally arrived 7 days late on 10/01/10! love the binary date lol.
midwives can be a pain! i was in agony on saturday night and had a feeling it was not the usual twinges as by 2am i was panting over the headboard! got in car and called hosptial and said i was in agony, she replied ''you dont sound in agony to me'' well the car journey calmed it down. funnily enough i did tell fibs exaggerating the regularity of my contractions as i had only had them a couple of hours but my gut said go hospital as i labour fast. anyway got to hospital by 230 am on sunday and by the time they examined me expecting me to go home i think as was breathing through contractions ok and was found to be 5cm dilated so went to car to get stuff and suddenly i could barely walk the agony was so bad in tears. had some pethidine and gas and air and waited. at 6:08 felt urge to push and she was out in one. placenta took some time and effort to come out but it came out in the end was worried would need surgery. Kira was 8 pounds and half an ounce. cant beleive how besotted i am with her she is so gorgeous though scary as forgot how tiny they are!
that was my easy labour anyway and hope congrats to all the other new mummies and good luck to the mummies to be.
my other two are at creche so spending time relaxing.
the afterpains were agony i was on gas and air feeding her in the hospital.
crumpette i think you can use nurofen for afterpains now as my midwife said i could if paracetamol is not hitting the spot.
now i can see my thighs i am giving up cherry coke and starting s healthy eating plan as of monday as jsut bought a 2 litre bottle this morning

bethoo · 15/01/2010 11:45

wow Crumpette we share same baby birth day!!!

Biccy · 15/01/2010 12:38

Congrats bethoo, we were hoping your silence meant things had got going for you! Well done for getting into hospital. Really don't understand why they don't listen to mothers, especially those who have had two babies already. I've heard so many stories where midwives say 'doesn't sound like it to me', and ignore mother's instincts. Hey ho. Happy snuggling!

Mama2b5 · 15/01/2010 13:03

Morning all - i have been in total nesting mood and have moved my entire room around for baby!everything is ready just want baby here!
Congrats to the new arrivals -
Somewhat - i know your enjoying LO! and Congrats to Bethoo -welcome baby Kira!

Crumpette - it saddens me to know what your going through but its seems to me your stronger then you really know, i hope you will look at yourself and say i dont deserve this and deal with DP one way or the other fix up or ship out! but so easy for me to say for im not you,but what is the option keep putting up with him and being uphappy! not healthy!
Can he go to his mums for a bit while you recover and just enjoy LO? If he is like this then what kind of future do you really have?
Peeing & Burning - i had a jug and when i went i poured it over the sore area it diluted the pee and eased the pain- maybe try that and see!
Day 5 - How are you coping Crumpette?????
MTK- thanks for the survivor account, its good to know life and happiness comes after something so horrible and negative! cant wait to take LO out in my Stokke i got black and love it, got free footmuff its just sitting her waiting in my front room!
Ski- hope, no it will be great your VB good labour vibes!!!!!

The wait is on and im hating it was up till 6am feeling quite sick! finally drifted to sleep to be awoken by DC getting ready for school! oh well, LO moving like crazy but no more signs to say this is it!!!!

Mama2b5 · 15/01/2010 13:03

Devo - how are you feeling today!

flyingma · 15/01/2010 13:42

Came on to do a bit of research on Google: had a tiny bit more show around 5am and the period pains kicked off then, not BHs these are different. (TMI alert) How much stuff constitutes "a show"? I don't know if this is me willing labour on but the pains start at just the front and have started spreading round to my back.

Since then I have been up to accept an Ikea delivery, half assemble it, discover the main component is broken, ordered them to send a replacement then DH and I decided to climb back into bed in case this was the real McCoy and we were going to be up all night.

Just checking timings now and they seems to last for a min or 2, every 20 mins thereabouts. Definitely getting stronger. If it is the real thing, at what point should I start using the TENS? I am allergic to paracetemol and asprin so painkillers are out of the question for now.

I reckon this might be quite a long drawn out one so presumably ok to run a few errands around town: going to the tip, buying bathroom flooring, supermarket shopping. DH always says that I leave things to the last minute

flyingma · 15/01/2010 13:48

bethoo CONGRATS on the birth of little Kira. I am glad to hear that you are coping so well - you are such a strong woman. But do remember that we're here for you to come have a moan at to offload - it's the least we could do as a virtural community. Ditto you, crumpette hon! LOL @ binary date.

saz CostCo sell them by the platterful tho I am not sure they count as a "standard supermarket" one where they must freeze the fish (thereby killing off any worms) beforehand. I had sushi near enough once a week at work - M&S have the best one - defo worth the premium on top of the rest (Asda, Sains and Tesco). Can't wait to go out to a real sushi place again tho... I found a lovely little one in London near DH's hotel when he was working there and he's bonkers for it now so post-baby we might need to make a special trip there for my treat!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 15/01/2010 14:31

FlyingMa - how exciting! As for when you need TENS - as soon as you feel you need a little something to help basically. Don't leave it too long though as reportedly they need time to adjust your own endorphins! Then as for calling hospital, when you get to around 5 mins apart or you need stronger pain relief!

Keep us posted and don't forget to select your text buddy from the list!

Oh lovely - more babies! congratulations somewhat and bethoo!!

showmethemummy - i've found kneeling and leaning over swiss/birth ball yoke helpful to allow bump to hang down and it does get you in mood for active birth (while being delightfully inactive). Have cushion under knees and just flop forward to watch tv/read/type at coffee table. No pressure on wrists. Needs to be 65cm ball unless you are v leggy though...

sazlocks - nice to know i'm not the only lazy nester. Just feel wrecked and unmotivated. DH mostly understanding though keeps saying i should go swimming. A post (sorry, lost track of who) did recommend that so could do. He has broken out with the most massive spot right on the tip of his nose. I think this is his sympathetic pregnancy... seriously, it looks like a baby nose is growing there. Poor DH.

Siochfradha & Sazlocks - re lazy nesting; DH came home after cruising in the car with Cara and I was mopping the floors, to which he pointed out I was meant to be doing that before the birth
Absolutely delighted to hear your news bethoo! I really love the name too and briefly thought of it for ours - I used to have a dog called Ciaragh (same pronunciation) and means dusk/dark lady in Gaelic. Best wishes xxx
