Urgh - when will the indignity stop? So this morning have continuously vomitted, really reaching and every time lose complete control of bladder! DH keeps bringing me down clean underwear and trousers . It's just horrid.

My pelvis is probably the worst its ever been today too and whilst I know its because of the SPD, I actually think baby has engaged, butt first, and the extra pressure is causing me to be in sheer and utter agony.

Off to hospital later this am to see Dr and anaesthetist for pre-op assessment. Hopefully I'll get a scan to see the position of the baby and confirm/deny my suspicions. CantThink in quite a grumpy mood and feeling sorry for myself (again). On a positive note, its the kids last day of term, DH has taken them to school and gone off to get the stocking fillers from ToysRUs!

Sorry for my continual moaning everyone. No doubt, it will continue post op when I discover more pain!!! .

Sioch I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's not doing cards this year. It's all kinda crept up on me, realised Saturday there was no way cards were going to get written and sent in time. I'm hoping there won't be too many stroppy inlaws to deal with because of it...they're all so organised it makes me feel guilty.

Maygirl hope you are ok after your minor tumble yesterday and 2 mile hike! I have to say I would have just camped out in the nearest cafe and phoned DH on a landline to get him to come get me, but I'm lazy. If I were you I'd stay home today.

I had a meeting yesterday with senior midwife which went fine, although she did tell me that you can't have any open flames during a HB because of the entinox canisters. It's one of those things that makes perfect sense, but I hadn't considered. The result is I'm totally gutted as was really looing forward to having a roaring fire and candles while I was in labour. I don't even know if I can have it stage 1 as if the fire's lit, it's not that easy to put it out, you just have to let it burn out.

Has anyone else got those gorgeous odema legs, I look like an elephant!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 22/12/2009 09:13

Somewhat - yes, have oedema legs, feet and hands! Looking forward to getting wedding and engagement rings back on post-pg!!

CTOFN (x-posts) bless you've had a shitty few days. Stick a pad or 2 down there and hopefully that'll limit the amount of clothes changes. Will they bring forward your date if bub engages?

nomorebooze · 22/12/2009 09:19

hi CTFN! hope all goes well today, keep us posted, i hope you feel brighter later . i have been snowed in at my parents / out of my house for nearly a week know and havent had a good catch up! however a huge congrats to all who have new wee ones just in time for xmas!!!!!!!!!!!!. i have a sore throat and really tickly ears today hope this isnt the start of something . im gonna lay on the couch and relax if the dog will let me, like others its sheet ice outside so dont dare take her far! bless her . cant beilive how quickly the time is going, im nearly 36 weeks, scary as this is my first!!!!!!!!!!!!.

devotion · 22/12/2009 10:00

Ah CantThinkofFunnyName, I'm sorry to hear you are having such a crappy time. You must be wishing the days away. Moan away, we are all here for you

I'm worried I might be getting a tummy bug, last Monday dd vomited three times and we thought we were all next but it looked like we escpaed but last night I had tummy pains during the night and woke up this morning with them too. Mainly across the top of my belly and not like low period ones I usually get lower on my tummy that spreads around.

Reall uncomfy and really hoping I dont actually get sick, i am such a baby when it comes to that, my body fights it and holds it in and my throat and belly battle to keep/get rid of it. Hence lots of strange sounds...

Fingers crossed it goes soon, its not a poo because i've been, go as soon as I get up and at night

ooooooooh! i dont want to be sick for chrimbo, belly is thightening with it now.

alibobins · 22/12/2009 10:04

Feeling very lucky, some of my work colleagues didn't get home till this morning !

Had smugly been organised and weeks ago booked a tesco delivery for today with all our xmas food, to avoid supermarket with the bump. They have just called and cancelled
Guess where DH is going soon if we can get the car out!!

Hope not a tummy bug devotion

I've got the sore throat, tickly ears bug too, suprisingly it was a lot better after my long walk in fresh air, but has returned overnight, so feeling v sorry for myself.

Maygirl - how irritating! I decided to get the christmas shop done this morning. Was amazed at how busy waitrose already was It was packed at 9am. Managed to get everything bar fresh cranberries, so not a bad shop. Picking up the turkey tomorrow en route to my check up....then all done! Cannot believe Christmas is nearly already here! December has flown by!

Ali - lovely pics of Jacob, hope you are both doing well.

Lottie - sending lots of hugs to you and your girls.

Nomorebooze - your last week sounds heavenly!!! My mum is driving down to us as I type. Will breathe a sigh of relief now, because if something happens before the 8th Jan, DH and I can both head to hospital without waiting for my brother/ SIL to get here.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 22/12/2009 14:59

Afternoon all. NEWSFLASH NEWSFLASH....

3 hours - 3 bloody hours I was at the hospital . Anyway, had my wee checked, still a trace of protein and lymphocytes which means UTI still hanging around apparently. BP up a bit but nothing too bad. Dr did all the paperwork, consent forms etc for c/s and sterilisation. Then had a check on baby..... and told me baby was transverse again. Quite odd I thought as it didn't particularly feel like that with the amount of pressure, pushing & pain in my pelvis. So, then she told me I had to wait to see anaesthetist..... until the Registrar came to find me and said "I'm sorry but we have to admit you NOW. We cannot let you go home with a transverse lie at nearly 38wks". I asked if they would do bring the op forward then, to which they said no, I would merely be kept in for observation until next Tuesday when op would proceed as planned. I kicked off, they offered to call my consultant to see if she would either do the op early or let me go home. The consultant said no, they would not do the op early but she would let me go home on Xmas Eve for one day if all ok.

Then they decided to check the lie by scan and found that baby was actually FULLY ENGAGED head down!!!!! Ah - no wonder my pelvis feels like its going to break then.... .

So out of one pickle, but into another of "baby truly could come any time as its DC3". Wonder if that's why my body had a bit of a clear out this morning? Although, knowing this little blighter, it's just as likely to pop back out, have a little somersault around and go back to breech/transverse again!

Then had to have swabs done to check for MRSA, bloods taken and wait for anaesthetist who was in theatre for hours. DH now on alert that he can't really partake in alcohol this Xmas in case baby does decide to put in an appearance and we have to make a dash to the hospital.

So now finally at home, kids picked up from school (last day of term) and waiting for the next stage.

Phew - what a drama/palava!!!

OP posts:
Fraochsmum · 22/12/2009 15:30

Bloody hell! What a palaver indeed!! Well you were right about the baby being engaged... What is their reason for not bringing the section forward? At least you wren't prepared to take it lying down and got something done. Fingers crossed for you x
I think mine might be engaged now as well as starting to get a bit uncomfy when standing up/walking - a woman in town said today is the first time she had seen me "looking pregnant". She was referring to my gait, not the bump btw, but quite pleased as I've less than 2 weeks now!
Ali, Jacob looks gorgeous and not nearly as small as I had preusmed.
My wee sis popped down from Glasgow for an overnight, but away again this morning. Was lovely to see her as she lives in Cardiff, and I got a leg & foot massage into the bargain Unfortunately she is having problems ovulating and on Clomid, so don't like to rub the whole pg thing in - I suggested she join mn to get advice about treatments etc.
Shiny - all the very best to you for the 24th!

mistletoekisses · 22/12/2009 15:35

CTFN - what a complete and utter parlava!! I do feel for you! Thank goodness they checked the lie by scan. Whereabouts are you? I wonder what your PCT policy is on delivering at 38 weeks? I would have thought that with the amount of moving about the baby is doing, they would be ok to deliver, but what do I know?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 22/12/2009 15:38

The reason for not bringing c/s forward is "it's best for baby to stay in as long as possible". Apparently new government guidelines state that electives, unless obstetric emergency, shouldn't be done before 39 wks, or as close as possible to 39 wks. I was told in no uncertain terms that I couldn't have the op earlier just to fit in with Christmas .

BTW - for those of you with children already, visit this website...www.portablenorthpole.tv

It's absolutely fantastic. By putting in a bit of information about your DC/s you get a PERSONALISED video message from Santa to the child. My 6 yr old DD has just watched hers and was truly mesmerised. Her little face lit up and made me feel all warm and snuggly - aaaaahhh.....

OP posts:
mistletoekisses · 22/12/2009 15:50

CTFN - fair enough. To be fair, I think DS delivery fell into the category of obstetric emergency. May consultant was worried about DS. So I guess it's a good thing that yours doesn't classify. Am trying to find a silver lining here.

That link is superb. DS loves his message!

shinybaubles · 22/12/2009 19:08

Hi everyone - sorry if I missed anything ds has been admitted to hospital with double pneumonia and will most likely be there over Christmas - so not good news.
CTFN I bet you are frustrated.

whensmydayoff · 22/12/2009 19:40

Oh I wish I had time to read this properly now!

Quick scan but get jist alibobins Jacob is home - fantastic news, must have been horrible for you, sending big hugs.

Also, think Olivia is still last one, no more babies Yet, is that right?

CTFN sorry to hear your having a rubbish time, hope baby is hear soon.

What do you do to get a photo on a profile then??? Im such a technophobe but would love to show Olivia off!!

She is doing well. Bit jaundice they are keeping an eye on and very very sleepy. 2 Hourly feeds with expressed top ups, YAWN! Still, her weight only dropped 6.7 percent and seems to be rising so all good.

Im (so far) finding im much much more chilled out and enjoying it more second time around. It's so lovely having her here for xmas, snowing outside and DS very excited about santa. A xmas to remember forever.

Took them to Ceramic experience today to get xmas baubles with their hand prints on and an 'Olivia's first christmas' photo frame as I did with DS. Lady said she had never seen such a small hand being printed before, cute

Have to go and force feed again. I can't imagine feeding twins london, well done you.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 22/12/2009 19:41

Shiny - OMG, you poor poor thing and your poor DS. No wonder he's been so poorly. You must be worried sick. My thoughts are with you and your family. xx

OP posts:
thegrumpallo · 22/12/2009 19:46

ctfnsorry the relief for you was short-lived. do hope things take a turn for the better in the last few days.

devotion hope you're feeling better!

So - went to have my first appointment at birth centre only to be told that I cannot have a baby there because my first weighed 4.1kg at birth. I had mentioned this to MW at centre when I looked around and was assured that if they'd monitor this baby's size. AAARGH. anyway.

am also at the moment listening to my dd2's screaming tantrum in her cot because she wants to close the door to room after i've put her down... very tempting to swear like a trooper this point...

positive news - have finally received my HiPg. woohoo.
