Bethoo, I have that when I first get into bed and have had for several weeks, although it eases the longer I've been lying down. I still feel he will arrive slightly earlier, but think he is pretty snug in there at the moment.
I will be having the baby in hospital in our town, but if there are any complications I will have to be dispached out to Glasgow. There are 3 different ways; helicopter which will get me there in about an hour and a half, hospital plane which will be the same time, or ambulance which will be 3 hours up a long and winding road (hence the Macca song...). None of these methods will take DH due to lack of room so he will have to do the 3 hour drive himself. However, I have had no problems so far and every test has been fine. I keep my fingers crossed.
Cantthink, that was a very nice thing you did for that lady and she will greatly appreciate it. Shame the staff weren't as sympathetic.

Hello

I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was put back until this morning.

I actually came on here last night and wrote a massive post with congratulations to new arrivals, welcoming newbies and general chat and then the bloody page uploaded before i finished and i lost it all i was so angry and tired I could not be bothered to type it all again.

My test started off very stressful this morning, it was to be picked up at 7.10am for hour lesson before, my instructor was really late then his car breaks down as I pracive my first manoevure -arrgghhh! He tried for a while to fix it but we were stuck so I had to call my dh to meet us with our car. He drove us to the test centre late! Luckily they let me still take the test in our car which is a beast and i have not been learning in it but in a tiny Toyota Yaris so I was really nervous.

Dh has been taking things to the dump and it was filled with rubbish including an ironing board blocking the back window. The examiner asked me to take it out and I handed it to my instructor standing outside and told him to do some ironing whilst I did my yest

It was like something from Steptoe and Son, it made me and the examiner laugh so that helped me relax plus a few sniff of lavendar i had put on a tissue up my sleeve. I knew I would be rubbish at reversing around a corner and car etc in my car because its so big and I had not practiced this moves in it so I just decided to really show the examiner i was a safe driver and took it easy with lots of mirror and blind spot checking ;)

I was so delighted when he told me i passed. I can not believe I finally have a license. It will come in hand with three kids!

I may get a big ass now, no more walking for me

Excuse the me me me post but I am really chuffed!

ladylush · 16/12/2009 11:46

Huge congrats Londonlottie - delighted for you Lovely names dd is 5 months old now (born 10 weeks early) The time flies!

somewhathorrified · 16/12/2009 11:47

Yangy, sorry I got my numbers wrong...there were 5 not 8 HB's booked to be classified as 'loads'. I am aware of the budgetry restrictions placed on the NHS but at the end of the day I've been insisting on a HB since my first MW appt, she was the one who said that they encouraged HB and I could have one on the NHS there was no reason to think there would be a problem. I mentioned to her that I was quite willing to pay for a private MW to ensure a HB and she said that wouldn't be necessary. I'm so pissed about this because at 36+5 and where I live the chances of me now employing someone are near impossible odds! I understand the Doula idea but I'm not scared of giving birth and I don't need another spectator, they are not allowed in this country to aid in the birth so kinda pointless for me.

Everyone should give birth the way they feel most comfortable, if hospital feels the right place for you then that's where you should be. For me home is the right place, I'm not ill, I'm pregnant after all. If I become ill then that becomes a completely different ballgame.

Fraochsmum · 16/12/2009 11:47

Way-hey!!! Fantastic news devotion - and quite right for gloating! I still remember how it felt albeit nearly 14 years ago now, you enjoy yourself. Nothing quite like driving in car for the first time with no-one beside you xxx

somewhathorrified · 16/12/2009 11:49

Yay, congratulations Devotion!!!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 16/12/2009 11:51

Devotion - WELL DONE! Congratulations. What a relief for you and what a stressful morning! My dear old dad was a driving examiner and we used to hear some stories. He would have loved the steptoe & son scenario!!

Well - it's snowing here in London and in my neck of the woods looks like its settling. Thankfully one of the mums from school decided she would take my 2 to/from school today, which is lovely so I haven't had to worry about driving... BUT I did notice yesterday when DH picked me up from hospital that there is barely any petrol in the car so I'm going to panic about that now, particularly with snow, slow moving traffic etc.

Do you know, my last 2 DCs were born at times of heavy snow? Both in February ...... this must be some kind of omen !

Hooray and congratulations devotion, I only passed my test 6 years ago when I was 34 wks pg with dc4 and it was such a relief and makes life so much easier, even more so with dc5 imminent. And for the record my ass ain't gone huge (well not that big anyway LOL) I'm really chuffed for you.

bethoo not to frighten you or anyone else but my 3rd was the worst, I just felt like I was losing it all the way through, a mw told me the other day odd numbers are the worst, and I'm on 5 so I'm hoping shes wrong.

fraoch I hope everything goes well for you and that 3 hour drive doesn't materialise, how stressful and worrying that 3 hours would be for both you and your dh.

yangy I've had 4 hospital births (mainly because dh is so squeamish and scared when I go into labour) and 1st and 3rd were stressful but ok, 2nd was brill (3hrs 1 push) and 4th (water) was calm and relaxed. My mw keeps trying to get me to have this one at home (well the last 2 as well) but I like to know there are people on hand in an emergency and I would be worried about the other dcs as well, so me, my dh and my sister go off to hospital and I perform in relative peace and then come home to the madness.

Hi shiny I think tightenings are the order of the day, I'm having loads but no pain today so I think our bubs are comfy and staying put for now, are you a section on xmas eve????

Sorry Yangy I'm probably coming across as really snotty about it all, I'm just freaked and angry at myself for being freaked and freaked at being angry...arrgggghhh. Need to go do something to take my mind of it all.

No snow here yet , but I always manage to move to places that seem to have snow free bubbles around them. Still hoping tho .

bethoo · 16/12/2009 12:36

sixmincepies i know i am panicking already as it was only last oct when i had dd and then i lost control and to be honest all i felt was fear and now that the time is near i am fearful again so i have been in denial about the whole pregnancy thing! when i had my first baby i was high on pethidine which gave me the feeling of being distant from the while thing and now mw say it is not worth having so are reluctant to give it, the second labour it was too late to use and just had gas and air but then cos i could breath through the contractions on it they witheld it from me so had no pain relief, i was scared shitless (fear of no control prob) and said i was going home then they said they would have to intervene so i just felt completely out of my depth! so now i just try not to think of it at all! i should do some hypnotherapy course really to relax me!
sometimes i feel as though mw think they know best but surely they should know that every labour is different? the first time round they would not examine me claiming i was not in labour then my friend who was there said i think she is in labour so they did an internal then said start puching you are fully dilated after watching me writhe in agony with no pain relief for the past bloody hour!
god i am sorry if that sounded bad, i am just an exaggerator! dont mean to frighten any newbies thoug hi admire horrified as you seem so calm and collected! i should know better!!

Devotion well done to you! It's the best feeling in the world to pass your test.

No snow here, just oodles of rain.

FakePlasticChristmasTrees · 16/12/2009 13:23

lots of lovely looking snow here, and the sound of the builder & plumber finishing off the bathroom, so yay, I'll actually have a bathroom before the baby arrives! (assuming it doesn't turn up in the next couple of hours, oh god, have I just jinks it???)

I've got a NCT breastfeeding class this evening - anyone been to that yet and is it useful? Not sure what to expect.

Fraochsmum · 16/12/2009 14:05

Gosh snow! That is amazing, we have clear skies and brilliant sunshine - and a washing on the line - just gloating cause it's not often I can say that
My stepmum has just rang to say she is going to buy us a moses basket - we already have a borrowed crib! However this is for downstairs, and she is already getting us a monitor pad for the crib/cot. Not sure if she is trying to 'trump' mum because she bought our pram? It is a bit embarassing though because I feel that either one of those things as a present is very generous

mistletoekisses · 16/12/2009 15:30

Hello everyone! I've been on the Feb thread but they changed my dates to 30th Jan (ages ago), think I need a bit of a kick up the bum that it isn't that long to go, although my DS was 10 days late so it could end up being a February baby after all.

devotion · 16/12/2009 17:08
