OK everyone, here it is. Who will be first to post their announcement I wonder?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Harriett · 05/07/2005 11:22

Oh my god, that's really depressing! I don't think I can last another 3 weeks, I am going MAD!!!!

mrsdarcy · 05/07/2005 12:37

I agree, definitely go. I spent from 37 - 41 weeks with DS1 thinking "any minute now" and eventually was induced at 40 + 10. Being pampered will do you more good than moping around in London.

I am 37 weeks today but measuring 41! Offically the hugest hippo in town! If one more person witters at me about being about to drop and how low I am carrying, I will throw a tantrum

Harriett · 05/07/2005 13:52

thanks mears and mrsd- I am going but totally over reacting and taking everything with me just in case!!
and I don't know about you being the hugest hippo in town, mrsd, dh and I play 'hose down the hippo' every night in the bath as once I get in, it's very difficult to get out again, never mind things like washing yourself! I just hope I have a huge hippo baby otherwise it will all have been green and blacks....

Eulalia · 05/07/2005 18:38

Harriet - yes go. I guess you are taking a mobile in case anything does start on the motorway but you should have plenty of warning. Can't remember if this is your first? If so then you will have plenty of time. Hope you enjoy being pampered.

Hub2dee - good luck for tomorrow - looking forward to hearing the good news.

eastyorksmum - good luck also. You will know when labour is established just the usual way, ie regular contractions, dilation of the cervix.

Bagpuss - how are you - having a baby yet?

mirashark · 05/07/2005 21:21

Hi all,
Saw midwife this morning and she took one look at me and thought I was in labour and about to pop but I haven't had contractions etc yet. The head is 2/5 engaged 0/5 being crowning I think so it's very far down. Had to be monitored in the hospital as the baby had reduced movements but that was all fine. But I was there most of the day between that and ante-natal class etc. Teh thing is now I have an acute pain in my chest behind my breast bone and between my shoulder blades and it's really thrown me, I've jsut started bawling my eyes out there and I think I might be losing my bottle. I think if it was something I'd been expecting like contractions I would be happy but I don't know what this is. Could it be the baby's feet kicking on my diaphragm does anyone know. The midwife asked me earlier if I'd had any sharp pains in at teh top centre of my bump earlier but I hadnt' then so I said no. If anyone knows if this is a symptom of labour let me know, God help me if I've another 3 weeks of this, I can hardly breathe!

Good luck tomorrow/today, Hub and Dee!

AussieSim · 06/07/2005 04:47

FYI in the lead up to DS2 I did the following: Saturday, Accupunture treatment and Fresh Pineapple, Sunday, Sex, Monday Vindaloo, Tuesday light sporadic contractions started, had DS2 on Wednesday 39+3. I guess I will never know if any of the strategies contributed but ...

eastyorksmum · 06/07/2005 12:51

Morning julyies wow our baby will be a July baby didnt expect that. Well were all ready baby is still very active and im a little scared about this induction today but i know we will be meeting our little boy soon.

Congratulations to Moq and goodluck Hub and Tesserbear will be thinking of you.

The rest of you ladies take it wasy your babies will be here soon enough xxxxxxxxxxxx

mrsdarcy · 06/07/2005 13:58

Hope you're feeling better today Mirashark. Has the pain gone or are you still suffering?
Good luck eastyorksmum, hub, and tessiebear
Congratulations Mogwai. Were your toes Rouge Noir?
Back to do more sleeping.... I do wish that a frenzy of energetic nesting would take over. This house is looking atrocious and will only get worse!

Eulalia · 06/07/2005 17:55

Not sure what your pain is Mirashark - hope it is better today.

Waiting in anticipation for these new babies to arrive ....

Saw midwife today and as I suspected am measuring small - 34cm and I am 36 1/2 weeks. It is still within the 3 cm range so not a problem but will see how I am next week.

Otherwise all is fine.

latearrival · 06/07/2005 23:48

Congratulations to Ozjo and AussieSim. Also to Whimsy and Lovinit. It is hard to keep up with all the arrivals.

We do not have broadband here and the connection often fails so I have to be very patient to reach you all.

I hope Mirashark is getting along ok now and Bagpuss.

I am 37+4 and as I had ds 10 days early dh and mum are behaving as though the baby may arrive at any moment. I inflated the birthing pool this pm - a kit bought from the NCT. The pool is infact a big paddling pool and is now taking up most of the living room - much to ds's delight. The m/w has delivered the black box for home deliveries (hate to think what is inside it).

Off to squeeze into the bath - empathize with Harriet on difficulties of bathing.

mirashark · 07/07/2005 11:36

Hope everyone in London is ok. Had a dream about a bomb in London last night and woke up and it was on the tv. Poor people.

Had a false labour the other night, vomiting, contractions - lasted till the morning but all quietened down and I'm back to normal.

Lolasmum · 07/07/2005 16:25

Hello All. Just been to my midwife my appointment who said that I am ready to drop.... but when? 39 weeks tomorrow. She advised me against going into labour over the next couple of days as apparently Kings is chaotic at the moment. The maternity wards from some of the more central london hospitals are being emptied and all women transferred to Kings to make room for casulaties from this morning. All rather distressing. Watching the news this morning it felt like a docu-drama. One of those 'What if' scenarios. Glad I'm not at work though. I work between Old St/Moorgate/Liverpool St. Luckily all my colleages are OK. Hope nobody has any relatives/friends who have been affected.

Any news from Hub or Bagpuss or any of the other imminents?

Hope those who've got their little ones already are doing fine.

Eulalia · 08/07/2005 15:18

Hope all the people in London are OK.

No baby news?

hoxtonchick · 08/07/2005 16:01

hi everyone,

hope you're all ok. we're all fine, despite living close to where one of the bombs went off. i'm so glad that dp & i are on maternity/paternity leave - he cycles through the city daily to get to work, & i work in the west end. the bus which was blown up was on a route that we have used too. it's just too awful. i feel isolated from it in our baby bubble, & aim to stay here.

dd is doing really well. midwife came this morning & she now weighs 3.2kg from a birthweight of 3.01. so no panic there. copious breastfed bright orange poos. she feeds approximately every 2 hours during the day, which is fine. we're getting better at putting her down occasionally too. though ds is currently squeezed into her moses basket..... my gp rang this morning, just to check everything is ok - i thought that was very nice of her! and bundle+her dds came for a lovely visit so ds had quality running around time.

hope to see some more birth announcements soon! xxx

pinkmama · 08/07/2005 18:37

Hope everyone is ok. Waiting for the next lot of baby news!

Have had my sister here all week which has been lovely, she has helped me enormously and I will really miss her when she goes home tomorrow. Had Braxton Hicks again last night, and she was so excited at thought of being here when baby arrives (she lives quite a long way away), but they stopped after an hour.

Supposed to be going for night away tomorrow in London, dd and ds going to their grandparents for the night. Dont think I will be up to doing much, but will be nice just to spend time with dh with no distractions, even if its just 24 hours.

Midwife comes in the morning to do my homebirth talk, so once that is done I guess its just a case of sitting and waiting. Swing from thinking please dont be long, to oh god I'm not ready !

Hope to see some news from this weeks inductions soon !

merryberry · 09/07/2005 02:29

hi all vincent gil born 7/7/5 o4o7hrs, inducted pre-eclampsia. he is well - a beauty - but we r struggling with wait for milk to come in. hence mid am visit to bf archives. will catch up later, love wired momma!

merryberry · 09/07/2005 02:42

argh, v. tired please advise for 2mrw how i can post my bf worries and ask for help. i don't think i know how! i know i want to go to bf section and start a topic.

oh...and go to sleep...maybe in 2010?

pinkmama · 09/07/2005 07:14

Congratulations MerryBerry and welcome to William. Sorry you so tired!

To start a thread dont you just go to the breastfeeding and bottle feeding topic section, which is under 'Feed the world' , then click on the link where it says 'to start new conversation in breastfeeding and bottlefeeding section click here'.

Good luck. Sure your milk will come soon. Hoxtonchick had to wait a while for hers, she may have some soothing words!

hoxtonchick · 09/07/2005 10:08

hi merryberry, many congratulations . hope you're feeling well. i too had to wait ages for my milk to come in when florence was born - 5 days. it was really tough, she was very unsettled and basically hungry, rooting all the time & frustrated when nothing came out despite desperate sucking. i haemorrhaged after i had her, & kept being told it wasn't unusual for the milk to take so long. i was tempted to give her formula a couple of times, but dp & i decided against it. if you do decide to give formula, you could try cup feeding rather than using a bottle so that vincent doesn't get confused. let me know if you want info. on this. i'm glad we didn't resort to formula though. once my milk came in everything calmed down. i started a thread here where i got lots of advice & reassurance which may help you too.

oh, i really feel for you, we had a crappy time last weekend due to exactly this. it does get better. just to give you an idea of timescales, florence was born in the early hours of wednesday morning & my milk didn't come in 'til sunday afternoon.

masses of luck. xxxx

Harriett · 09/07/2005 10:18

Congratulations merryberry! hope you don't have too tough a time over the next few days with bf- I have no words of wisdom as I have no idea (yet) what it's like... can't wait to find out though!
Operation baby is now in full swing- I have my pineapples ready as it would be lovely to go into labour this weekend, after a few lovely days holiday with dh this week I don't think I can go back to going stir crazy next week on my own!
But still no Braxton Hicks or anything- will she ever want to come out?! She is getting really strong though and actually throws me off balance when she moves as I am walking!
is there any news from hub yet?

merryberry · 09/07/2005 11:16
