Hi Mr. OzJo, and congrats on Jacob !

mrsdarcy · 04/07/2005 08:18

Congratulations OzJo and Mr OzJo and welcome to Jacob .

Lolasmum · 04/07/2005 09:57

Congratulations to OzJo and AussieSim. What a huge baby Sim!

HC, I'm glad you're milk has come in. I hope the successful feeding makes you feel less cheeful.

MrsD - I'm feeling the same as you and keep hoping that it's a sign of things to come... I've been sitting here crying reading everyone's news. I've got a midwife's appointment for Thursday which when the midwife made it for me a fortnight ago said that I probably wouldn't need. Hopefully she'll be right, but Thursday doesn't seem that far away now.

Well, first day of maternity leave and I'm missing work already.... Looking forward to watching Babyhouse this afternoon though on ITV1 (Big brother with pregnant ladies!)

Looking forward to the next announcment. Who's it going to be? Is anyone going to beat Gwenyenbee? (Good luck Gwenyenbee!)

MommyD · 04/07/2005 10:44

Wow - congrats for all the new wee ones!!!

I am 37 weeks today. Section booked for a week tomorrow. Getting really excited about it all. Can't wait to meet #3!! My boys were 9lbs and then 6lbs, so hoping this one will be somewhere in the middle, weight-wise.

Good luck to all the ladies (and hub of course) who are still waiting

merryberry · 04/07/2005 11:17

wow congratulations all around to new Bs. {{Hug to HC, hope this stage passes soon}} and the very best to british luck to Dee and H2D, please steal some portland soap for me to flog on ebay...cackle

well my BP is up 150/100 at my 40 week antenatal check today with traces of protein and sugar in urine. CTG fine (no bliming contractions mind!) and blood work in the lab, gotta go back form this net cafe in 30 mins and get results and see doc. Bit of a downer that this may shift me out of low risk PG and stymie hoped for use of water pool. Well early days, we'll see. Later guys, xfx

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 11:38

Hi MommyD ! Sorry to escape from Scharlieb . It would have been fun to meet ! Hope you have a fab time.

LOL merryberry. DW was very excited to learn they have Molton Brown smellies in the bathroom. I think she'll be stealing for her own cupboards, LOL.

Sorry to hear about your BP and other stats going strange, especially if this means no water birth etc. etc. Make sure you get LOADS of relax / rest time at home if poss.

eastyorksmum · 04/07/2005 12:50

hiya ladies just popping hope you dont mind im from junies like quenybee only we are waiting to be induced to on wed tea time now.

Had a bit of a rough time lately lots of contractions and visits to labour ward and this is my fourth baby.

Im a bit more settled today looking forward to wed and meeting my little man so congratulations to all the new babies and good luck to us all waiting.

hoxtonchick · 04/07/2005 14:16

am feeling a lot better now. the midwives came this morning & were lovely. she's back up to 2.9kg & they said her jaundice really is very mild. and they don't want to come back until friday. yay. feeding going much better, she is much less cross. i am a calm zen mummy. for now.... even considering a trip to the shops. ds is at nursery today. oh yes, & he said to me the other day "mummy, you're tummy's still very fat, is there another baby in there?". cheeky.

kid · 04/07/2005 14:28

LOL @ M, can't believe he said that!

Mind you, My 2 sometimes ask me 'are you having another baby mummy' and pat my tummy &

See if you can go to the shops around 3pm, I'll drive past you and have a peep!!!

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 14:45

Just realised maybe I was a bit insensitive about anyone heading for the Royal Free imminently and staying on Scharlieb ward... it is OK, and to be fair, if we asked for anything (gaviscon, BP check etc.) it was done... it's just they are always a little understaffed, so SHOUT LOUDLY if you need attention ! (Oh, and coke / biscuits for the staff eases the wheels...)

Bagpuss30 · 04/07/2005 15:36

Hi everyone, just back from my clinic appointment. MW thinks I might be in early labour - I had a show yesterday and have lovely back ache and some reasonably strong contractions today. I hope so as I'm so fed up (though probably not as much as some of you). I refused a sweep though as I was worried after last time - my waters went after about an hour and it was incredibly painful - but MW said one of the community team can come out and do it at home instead so that I will at least be in familiar surroundings/prepared!

Congratulations AussieSim and OzJo .

Hub, things are really moving fast for you now. Huge amounts of good luck to you and dw (and dd of course!). I'm sure it will all be fine. Good luck to Gwenynbee and eym for this week too.

Gosh, HC you've really reminded me of how I felt after dd was born. Glad to hear that things are improving and that you are happier too.

Merryberry, hope you are OK and that you end up with the birth you want.

Right, well I'm off to peruse the active convos and then take some Raspberry Leaf Tablets I think.

Wow! It has been busy here over the weekend! So pleased for all the new and lovely babies that have joined us over the past few days- congratulations!
And good luck to Hub, Gwenynbee and maybe Bagpuss too! for the next few days.

Lolasmum · 04/07/2005 17:47

That's exiting Bagpuss!

Lolasmum · 04/07/2005 17:47

Meant to type exciting. But, maybe exiting is just as appropriate!

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 18:13

Can I clarify that no one irons babysuits / vests nor babygros nor muslins, right ?

LOL

Just done first wash. We ran out and bought new born / tiny size as she may be fairly small. The clothes are titchy !

Eulalia · 04/07/2005 18:16

Congratulations to the Ozjo family - lovely name (my nephew's name) What a big boy. Hope to hear from you soon.

Good luck Bagpuss

mears · 04/07/2005 18:25

I always ironed my muslins and washed baby clothes in Lux soap flakes. Think they've stopped making it them

mears · 04/07/2005 18:26

And I ironed vests and babygros Hub

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 20:42

Oh dear.... I am already a BAD daddy...

OK, I might iron one set for going home, LOL.

Why don't they make muslins out of some kind of non-iron cotton ???? They go so ridiculously ribbed / scrunchy when you dry them IYKWIM !

mears - did you get an impressive number of words committed to paper ?

mears · 04/07/2005 22:33

Draft sent to tutor Hub. I got a lot of satisfaction ironing out the scrunchy bit of muslin. Oh happy days

mirashark · 04/07/2005 23:41

excuse my ignorance in advance - what are muslins? I mean I know what muslin is but what muslin thingies should I have that I don't know about? feel like I am asking 'what are nappies?' Due in 10 days - oops! Bout time I started finding out the basics eh? are they just little cloths to use instead of baby wipes?
I washed all the baby clothes and fully intended to iron the lot but did a u-turn when I saw them all stacked up - I assured myself no one must iron them either and put them away in their drawer...

hub2dee · 05/07/2005 07:05

LOL@mears in motherly heaven, perfecting the flatness of her beloved muslins.

Well done on getting that draft out the door, mears ! I thought you were still deep in writer's block, but obviously not !

mirashark: Some people do without them, so don't worry, but lots of others use 60X60cm mulsin cloths (pack of 6 - 12, usually white, about £1 per muslin, John Lewis, Mothercare etc.) as all-purpose clothing protectors / dribble catchers / covers to bf discretely, clean cloth to lie baby on etc. etc. They were originally (and can of course still be) used as muslin nappies for newborns. You can get Little Ewe 70X70 ones if you need bigger, and you can get motifs / colours / prints.

HTH, and good luck in 10 days !

eastyorksmum · 05/07/2005 09:16

Morning ladies feel ive caught up on my sleep now after bad weekend just packing and re packing bag at the moment getting induced tomoro going into this with an open mind just hope hubby will be called in time im not to sure when they call hubby back is it established labour? does anyone know? this is my first time been inducted. Weather is nicer today too so good luck to all of us still waiting xxxxxxxxx

Harriett · 05/07/2005 11:11

Could anyone help me make a decision today please as my brain is now mush.
My mum and dad have invited me to go and stay with them for a few days which I am really keen to do as I am going stir crazy being in London at the moment. The problem is that they are in Staffs so it is quite a few hours drive. I am terrified that I am going to go into labour on the M1 and be miles from the nearest epidural... what shall I do? shall I risk it and be pampered for a few days (v.v. tempting) or be sensible and stay near the hospital?! I have until 2pm today to decide!
(due next Thursday btw)
thanks!

mears · 05/07/2005 11:20

Definately go - you might not have this baby for another 3 weeks
