becky no knitted boobs, she had this plastic apron with boobs. Problem was it had a sixpack too, so looked a bit confused...
They still have six beds. Oh, and they said that although the official line is to chuck you out after 24hrs (or transfer to JR or Horton if you need more care), they are happy for you to stay longer if need be. I loved everything they said about how they approach labour - putting things in my birth plan was a complete waste of time because they already do what I want to do. I'm very happy about this and just hoping for everything to go smoothly in the run up to the event.

erika I think you asked - I have been taking iron, so it definitely helps.

skorpion · 09/11/2009 15:55

pavlov thanks for the update. Brilliant news that your claim is fully supported by professionals and they are prepared to stand up in court for you as well.
How is the baby room coming along - have you resisted the temptation to interfere? I admit I'm just like you - if you want it done well, etc...

hobnob57 · 09/11/2009 16:12

Just found out that DH gave DD 4 cups of milk on Saturday instead of her usual 2. That's x2 her usual amount of dairy for the day. Could be an explanation!

pav great news about your supportive SE and BI, must be a relief to you both. I bet DD is loving her room more and more. Moving DD was the best thing we did this summer

Laugs · 09/11/2009 16:18

Hi,

Hope everything's going well with Kyte, wook and preggo and we hear about some new babies soon.

DH was away this weekend with the laptop, so just catching up on all your news.

So sorry to hear about your granddad Tabby. I'm sure your dad knows you are all there with him in spirit.

Lissy I hope you're feeling better. Was the physio you saw called Joan? I thought she was very good too.

Was it Wizzy and southernbelle seeing their consultants today? (apologies if not) Hope all went well.

BBL Hope your DS had fun at his birthday 'tea'

I've had my mum and dad up for the weekend helping out in case I went into labour (DH had to go to his brother's 18th birthday a 7-hour journey away). It's been so nice to have them here helping out with DD while I got some rest.

Having really not wanted the baby to come this weekend as DH was away, I would now like it to arrive today : I have an interview to do tomorrow and just the thought of getting dressed in proper clothes and going to speak to real people is tiring me out. If only I could start contracting this evening then I could hand the job on to someone else... Also, none of us have colds for about the first time in 6 weeks. I am only 37+4 though, so that's pretty unlikely. Although my mum said I was born at 37+4, so you never know...

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 09/11/2009 16:32

I wonder if I will ever stop being sick again . I am longing to have a few days of not being sick, of being able to eat what I want. Aaaaargh. I had a bacon and avocado sarnie and it was not pleasant on the return journey .

Scorpion baby's room is coming along slowly. My DH and friend went shopping for things, and took their sweet time! They have cleaned and mostly prepped, ready to do some painting of woodwork. Its only 4:30pm, plenty of time

hobnob yes, DD absolutely loves her bedroom. Every time someone comes over to visit, first thing she says 'you want to come and see my new room?' Do you want to play? Do you want to come and have a sleep over?' It is just the best to see her face up there and we are getting her to tidy it each day before we get ready for bed. Start as we mean to go on .

katster37 · 09/11/2009 16:44

Aaaaw, pav fab news that everything is just about getting sorted now! Sorry about the bacon and avocado sandwich.... And they say girls give you worse sickness?!?! (Everyone keeps telling me I must be having a girl as I was puking constantly - although thankfully mine did actually stop....)

Laugs yuck at having to do the interview. Are you interviewing or being interviewed? Still a while for a few contractions tonight - will have my fingers crossed for you!

Have just done a mini online shop which consisted exclusively of: cat food (worried he will starve during the chaos), flour (so atleast we can make bread in the breadmaker, if all else fails), extra nappies and wine (DH's suggestion - apparently this will become a necessity...) Wonder what they will think when they are delivering it...

katster37 · 09/11/2009 16:45

PS - perhaps should have put 'worried the cat will starve during all the chaos', in case you were questioning whether the 'he' was actually the baby.

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/11/2009 17:00

Katster you'll have to think of some projects during your mat leave, like me: cleaning the cars being one of them! With DS1 I had nearly five weeks as he was 11 days late and I'd taken 2 weeks hol and 1 week mat leave ... I was really bored by the end! I even resorted to making curtains.

Pavlov I didn't realise you were still getting sickness. Poor you. When you're baby is here you will feel sooooo much better. I can't wait to be able to eat toast without acid racing up my throat. I can't eat toast at all now - breakfast has to be an apple and a banana. I'm so bored of apples and bananas.

Sniff, sneeze. I have DS1's cold in full throttle now. Ah well. Better to get it over with now!

sleeplessinthecity · 09/11/2009 17:17

katster wine is a necessity..trust me..

BBL I was also 11 overdue with DD who is now 22 months..i was bored by the end because i just hated being so large!..but had lots of things to do..my favourite was going to pizza express with my book and eating their chicken salad..yum.

pav poor you..can't believe you're still sick..big anti-sickness vibes to you..wish I could see your DD's bedroom..you did very well!!!

Going up and down the stairs as its too cold to walk outside...counting myself as officially overdue...

(TMI) tried sex...think we're going to laugh about it for a time to come..didn't work, my knees and pelvis both wrecked..Think we forgot what to do..

katster37 · 09/11/2009 17:30

Sleepless salads in pizza express are gorgeous - may try that one tomorrow! Also had a somewhat laughable attempt at sex. I have definitely forgotten what to do. This baby may prove to be an only child at this rate...

BBL hmm, well we don't have a car to clean, but I could always try knitting some boobs. Today has been a write off, all I have done is washing and inventing stupid recipes (have made a loaf of bread with a few cadbury's heroes thrown in for good measure... Oh dear, I am clearly not grown-up enough to be a mother yet!

Really thinking of all of your overdue ladies... You must be at your whit's end by now...

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/11/2009 18:28

Katster just for you: knitted boob

skorpion · 09/11/2009 18:40

becky - that is sooo much nicer than the plastic one they used on Saturday!!

katster37 · 09/11/2009 19:01

Oh my god, BBL that is the best knitted boob photo I have seen all day!!! Delightful!!

ErikaMaye · 09/11/2009 19:31

I am going to teach myself to make knitted boobs and send one to all of you on your DCs 16th birthdays

Went into town this afternoon and did a lot of Christmas shopping. Am really pleased. Got a lot done. Though admittedly a lot of what I bought were silly little things for DPs stocking, including a small pack of extra safe condoms, a mini lego kit and a rubber duck Also got some little finger puppets for Bryn's stocking - I'm sure its totally acceptable, as we can use them to tell him stories as he gets older. (I will justify my actions, I will!!!) Bought my dad the Hairy Bikers cook book, which he'll be chuffed with. Also bought some photo Xmas cards from Pound Land, as they were 8 for £1, and everyone is getting a picture of my baby for Christmas whether they want one or not

Am absolutely knackered now, but in a good way. Plus have been having contractions on and off since I was in there, so that can't be a bad thing either!!

Am getting DP a ring for Christmas as I know he wants one, and I know the kind of style he wants. But the git has such lovely slender fingers, he's only an O So will have to order it specially...

Hope you're all doing good this afternoon!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 09/11/2009 19:43

Yes, my sickness has returned. It never really went away fully, lurked in the background, meant i have not been able to eat spice, highly flavoured food, and from time to time upchucking has occurerd, but been manageable. However over the last week-10days it has increased, more and more frequently to every day once, and today, all afternoon I think its quite common for severe HG to return in final stages (as common as it can be in non-common HG! but ykwim). DH is less than sympathetic. I said 'i have had enough babe, i feel rotten' and he said 'but you're putting a brave face though yeah?' cheeky so and so.

Trikken · 09/11/2009 19:58

Erika think everyone will be getting nicely boxed up cookies (kytes) this year. lol. people will love a christmas pic.

Pav I have been quite queasy since last night, thought my morning sickness had gone but have been having rennies and lots of ice-lollies trying to keep the sickness at bay, but neither really helping much. hope yours gets better so you dont suffer all though the end part.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 09/11/2009 20:06

thanks trikken. Hope your queaziness passes soon too.

ErikaMaye · 09/11/2009 20:07

Pav I hope you feel better soon. Will keep my fingers crossed its a good sign for you.

Trikken see, I'd love to do that... But I doubt I will have the time or the energy balancing new baby with ME. Maybe next year... Plus I'd probably eat them all

Is anyone else feeling really period-like at the moment? I feel sick, have cramps / back ache and (tmi) now diarrhoea too, like I normally have when I'm on. Think a fluffy bubble bath is called for.

beepbeep · 09/11/2009 20:16

Becky - I was in the 1st bed on the right with DD and the 3rd on the left wth DS!

Skorpion - we're due 6 days apart - do you think we'll be fighting for the pool??!!

TOK · 09/11/2009 20:19

That all sounds promising ErikaMaye, especially if you've been having contractions today too. Here's hoping !

Laugs · 09/11/2009 20:50

erika that sounds very promising! My labour definitely started off feeling period-like last time.

Loving the knitted boobs.

My sickness is back too. I assumed it's because I'm back on iron (spatone wasn't doing anything for my iron levels) but maybe it's just a late stage thing.

I'm eating eating eating here though. Can that be a sign that labour is imminent? Please? ... No, I didn't think so

Laugs · 09/11/2009 20:52

beepbeep and skorpion I think you should pack knitted boobs in your hospital bags in case you need to out yourselves to each other! Of course, everyone else on the ward might think you are slightly strange...

Laugs · 09/11/2009 20:55

Oh beepbeep was it you who was looking for the GoGo Hamster thing? Just seen this in today's Guardian
