Trikken am no expert but surely those two things contradict each other?! I hope they help you soon.

Trikken · 09/11/2009 12:39

misssese yes, induction booked for sunday morning, but hoping they can manage to do a sweep on wednesday.

Erika i thought they did too. ah well.

katster37 · 09/11/2009 12:42

Trikken just seen your post, must have x-ed before. That's ridiculous. What did you say? How can she feel the head if your cervix is that high?? Do you have to go back later this week? Grrrrr.

TOK · 09/11/2009 12:58

Trikken I had exactly the same thing at mw last thursday. She could feel the baby's head but cervix not open at all, although apparently it was slightly shorter than if I wasn't pregnant- whoop de doo- that means nothing to me!

I am going for another attempt at sweep on thursday but really really hoping I don't make it!

ursigurke · 09/11/2009 13:02

hi ladies! it is really a shame that i have no time to read your posts, i really wish you all the best for whatever situation you are in at the moment. paula is really doing well and CONSTANTLY feeding and pooing. and for those with partners in denial: mine is now checking room temperature, nappy content and internet about the latter plus possible navel problems about every 10 min... it's almost annoying

VenusInfers · 09/11/2009 13:05

I keep dropping off the top of the Expecting list. And not allowed to do that until I can move to the arrivals one!

Trekkin Shame about the sweep, but good that they've put a plan of action together. Only a week to go at most until you meet your baby! I have a feeling that I'm going to get exactly the same news when I go for my sweep at 4pm - I've done a self exam and my cervix seems to still be up somewhere around my ears.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 09/11/2009 13:13

ursi i am so pleased Paula is doing well, feeding is good! LOL at your DH though .

i have a horrible horrible pain above my bump. Have had it for weeks on and off but its worse at the moment...its to the right, by my ribs, a burning pain, which is worse when I sit down, I can only get it comfy when I am stood up or leaning right back - which is fine but leaning right back then hurts my back! I think its a muscle being pulled/ripped or something, and its bloody annoying ! Other than that, I am banished to the front room while DH and a friend prep the baby's room. I want to be in there, well I don't be, i want to be chilling but all my --bossiness- supervisory instinct is saying I need to be in there. I can hear them and they are not doing it as I would...

katster37 · 09/11/2009 13:23

Yaaaay Usigurke that is fantastic news! It seems like all is well. Do we have a post-natal thread?

Pav is the pain in your ribs? I get a horrible pain in my left ribs, at the bottom, when I sit or lie down. It's achy and throbbing.

Also - can someone tell me about Braxton Hicks? I have had them a lot throughout the latter half of this pregnancy, but today they have been almost constant, and more intense than normal. They aren't going off when I sit down, but when I stand up, they get really bad. Does this actually mean anything or is it just something that happens? Sorry if I sound a bit clueless! DH is paranoid I won't recognise a 'real' contraction and just say it's a BH, although I know these aren't real, because they aren't painful as such, just uncomfortable.

beepbeep · 09/11/2009 13:27

Pavlov - i haven't had that pain this tme, but do remember it with DS and think i was told it was muscles being stretched. Wasn't pleasant as i remember.

beepbeep · 09/11/2009 13:34

Katster - in my experience BH can vary a lot in their intensity, length & regularity. I hae some days when I hardly get any and then others when I get them almost constantly. (I get them whilst I'm driving, but other than that not wen I'm sat down) I wouldn't worry about the real thing though, can't really explain it, but they do feel different.

Stormfly · 09/11/2009 13:53

longwayaway- ah but you are keeping the list sorted and up-to-date which is far more important...

skorpion · 09/11/2009 13:58

Hi All.

Phew, just about managed to catch up, thanks ninja for the new thread.

I'm sorry tabby for your sad news. I'm hoping things are as well as they can be in the circumstances.

Sorry to everybody suffering in any way, be it themselves or their family.

We had our parentcraft day at the mw unit in Chippy on Saturday, we were the ones with the shortest time to go. And - surprise, surprise - with least stuff ready
Very nice to see the unit, looks so cosy.

Come on, you overdue babies! Time to make your move!

Comma2 · 09/11/2009 13:58

Trikken could be the baby is so high she can ony just touch the head ,but not low enough to create enough pressure so she can separate the membranes (I guess they can't be too floppy). My first sweep was a bit like that, and doc told me to push baby down as much as I could.

Lissy I know too what you mean. So very nice to move normally...also think it good advise to have your mobile with you at all times.

I haven't had sex for so long, I don't even think I need contraception anymore...also we are not of the superfertile set. Maybe will jsut ignore issue.

longwayaway · 09/11/2009 14:02

Stormfly It is, right?? I just hate seeing people left out...

hobnob57 · 09/11/2009 14:06

G'day all.

Had a bit of a weird day today. In sympathy with Trikken and mindful of my sweep tomorrow, I checked the position of baby's head when I felt it start moving this morning and found it curled round across the top of my pelvis AGAIN, so I lay with my bum in the air until I though it might have moved more central and then got up. Have been walking loads this morning - no nice heavy feeling at all so I think it's curled round again. I'm beginning to get irritated by this carry-on.

Has anyone else's bump really reduced the frequency and intensity of movements? I'm not normally one to worry, but bump is very definitely very quiet these days (just when I want it to wriggle!). It's most active when the head is actually down and then I get BHs. But sadly that scenario seems rarer and rarer as they days go by.

DD is just about 3, whoever was asking, so she has all her teeth but she managed to produce an entire potty-full of foamy diarrhoea earlier on today which goes some way to explaining things. In a way I'm relieved it's not just her going on hunger strike because I'm at home all the time and so she can try on the whingey act constantly!

I had a bit of a funny turn on the way back from a walk earlier. I got suddenly hot and sweaty and had to strip off coat, scarf and gloves (still frosty here!) and then had to stop a few times to catch myself before I got home, hands tingling and feeling a bit wobbly. A sit down and a monster lunch sorted it out. Hope I don't have what DD has, and that it's just one of those things or a SF vaccine thing. Speaking of which, my arm is STILL sore!

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/11/2009 14:37

Skorpion soooo jealous at your being able to have baby in Chippy. DS2 was born there and I loved it there I can picture it all exactly - I was in the first bed on the left-hand side (if they still have six beds there).

I did parentcraft before DS1 was born at Chippy too one Saturday. Did they use the home knitted boobs to illustrate breast feeding??

Hobnob hope you are ok. Sounds like your DD has had a lingering tummy bug or something as she wasn't too well last week, was she? Poor thing. I hope you are able to avoid it. I've just come down with DS1's cold. Literally I was totally fine then started sneezing and sniffing like mad! Funny how these things just hit you. So hoping the baby hangs on for a few more days. Not in the mood for labour between sneezes really...

katster37 · 09/11/2009 14:55

We had knitted boobs at our breastfeeding workshop! Wonder who knits them?

Sorry you are coming down with a cold, BBL. I have had a lingering one for a few days now, wish it could decide what it is doing.

Well, Day One of maternity leave, and I am fairly bored!! Got some things to post and since it's sunny, think I"ll have a bit of a stroll instead of munching my way through some choccies which is what I have been doing....

PootleTheFlump · 09/11/2009 14:56

How strange that the tired and emotional phase seems to have hit so many of us at once. If it is any consolation, I cried (sobbed!) at a baby being stuck in a car on real rescues this morning, (it was fine, and its mother coped far better than me!!). I am also very tired, despite, like Erika sleeping better in the last couple of days than I have in months.

Am hoping to nip to the shops but sciatica is playing up and have visions of me getting stuck in the car. Poor you Lissy not being able to move.

I definitely feel like staying close to home and having phone on me at all times, despite not having any further signs of this baby coming to meet us!
