Pav she has a cot, travel cot, changing mat, blankets etc...
She was like that at school though. Unfortunately her shower is the day before my edd so don't think I can make it... shame

hobnob57 · 16/11/2009 14:35

I felt embarrassed enough having a wedding list - I could never do that! But I know some people who could... I suppose it depends what kind of person you are. I'm not remotely materialistic (I think) and will happily muddle through with what I can get my hands on. Hence not having shopped at all for #2 yet...

I think I'm getting a tickly cough. Pants.

I'd also really like a walk now that DD is making noises upstairs after her nap, but it's tipping outside. Doesn't bother me, but it does bother her. How else can I maximise the effect of a sweep? No DH here to oblige in the 'climb aboard' suggestion from earlier in the week

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/11/2009 14:41

Thats terrible! I would not expect to get anything more than some lovely smellies, if I got anything at all!

I am a bit sad. I think my neighbour below is moving out, she is 95 and I am guessing she is going to a nursing home? She has come back from hosp after a chest infection. She is lovely and quiet and I am sad she will go as we will get a student in now i know it!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/11/2009 14:44

hobnob have you recieved an email from Brand Alley? I got one saying there is a delay in my order, they are investigating....grr...it means they did not have enough stock to cover their order i am presuming!

hobnob57 · 16/11/2009 15:31

No, not yet pav. I'll be extremely annoyed if I do though! That said, I haven't had one saying they've dispatched anything yet either. Will keep you posted.

skorpion · 16/11/2009 15:42

claire this baby does not feel at all imminent. Not sure if it's me sending her hidden messages by being constantly busy or she's just happy where she is for now.
I've had quite a stressful few days, with my work at home causing me much hassle, I just hope she can't really pick up on it and think goodness me, what sort of mummy have I picked here... if what broodzilla said is anything to go by (I love the idea btw, brood )
She's not even engaged yet.

I just really hope for a couple of days soon when I'll be able to concentrate just on her, prepare the house, prepare the crib, give her some reassurance that what we are about to go through will be tough and she will have to work hard with me, but I'll look after her throughout and all will be fine once she's cuddled by her mama and dad.

ErikaMaye · 16/11/2009 15:53

Congratulations to all the new arrivals

My little man had to have his heel prick test done today. He was braver than I was The midwife was lovely about it but I really could have cried! Wish I'd been the one holding him now instead of watching it shudder

Hope those of you still waiting are doing well, and not too fed up yet, and that things start to happen for you all quickly.

DP and I went out for a celebrationary drink last night, just the two of us, and it was lovely. I only had a small glass of wine and was tipsy half way through it

Ohh someone needs feeding!! Catch up soon

scarlotti · 16/11/2009 16:38

Hi ladies

Just thought I'd pop in and see how you're all holding up, hope you're all not too uncomfortable and fed up. It is tough waiting it out, I certainly made it worse on myself as I was convinced he'd be early and started my false hospital trips 2.5 weeks before he actually arrived!

3rd baby mums - it really is all stop start like they say, and it's likely your labour will not go like the other two. Just thought I'd say, as I was so thrown by the way my labour went that I lost mental focus through my labour and it stop started and went on longer than it needed to.
Try as much as you can to think 'go with the flow' type thoughts and throw away what you think will happen.

We managed to have DS1's 4th birthday party yesterday and it went really well. Almost every Mum that came said there were amazed we'd done it with a 1 week old (although how do you tell a 4yr old he can't have a party? ) so we got to feel like wonder parents for a while - nice for the old confidence!

Sending nice strong labour vibes out to you all

WOW look at the arrivals

Seeing as I'm due tomorrow could I please go next. I just seem to be a walking tap at the moment. Everything is making me cry

Oh and my Grandma has landed herself on me until tomorrow. Oh happy days, grrrr.I just want to concentrate on getting this labour started, not having to wait hand and foot on inteferring well meaning relatives

Huge congrats to you all with new arrivals. Sorry I'm being useless at keeping up right now. I get so easily distracted and have been nesting like mad. My house hasn't looked this tidy since the last time I was due lol!

BIG labour vibes to all overdue or just fed up waiting. Good luck

beepbeep · 16/11/2009 17:28

Evening all - really fed up with swollen feet & hands after all the stop start contractions, so popped in to MW drop in clinic this aft, the MW was lovely and said she's do an interntal, apparently last night's contractions had been baby going from totally unengaged (last thurs) to fully engaged (!!), she said that everything looked really good so did a sweep (am 39wks today), pretty sure my waters are now leaking (have put pad on) and am getting more intense tightening - fingers crossed!! Had sweep done about 90mins ago!!

Am hoping baby by early hours - how optimisic am I?!?!?!

beepbeep · 16/11/2009 17:30

Skorpion - I was quite surprised by MW saying that things were 'ready to go' as I also didn't feel in the least bit like things were, I was prepared to go 10 days over and be induced! -apparently I'm 3 cm already, so just goes to sure - it'll happen when you least expect it!!

hobnob57 · 16/11/2009 17:32

I DID get that email pavlov - I've just found it in my junk mail grrr.

skorpion · 16/11/2009 17:40

beepbeep - I better get on with that packing, then...

Hello all and congratulations to those who have popped! I think the arrivals list has got some lovely names on

I've spent the entire weekend eating hot curry in a filthy mood - poor dp got the absolute worst of it but I just couldn't seem to get out of a funk. The worst was when my favourite shoes just wouldn't do up over my swollen feet.... Can someone please reassure me that it IS possible for first babies to come on time He's been engaged for 4 weeks now and I still haven't had any other signs. Am typing this while bouncing on my birth ball!

Stormfly · 16/11/2009 17:47

easyeggs - many labour vibes especially to you for tomorrow. And to beepbeep - sounds pretty dynamic all that engaging. Thanks scarlotti (alias wonder woman of party-land, that was seriously impressive at 1 week) - I think it will be important to keep that in mind as I am quite unreasonably disconcerted already that labour can start differently. Must practise chilling out.

raggie · 16/11/2009 17:52

Go beepbeep!

Yes, that arrivals list is like an exclusive club's guest list that we all wish we were on isn't it?

"But our names ARE down! Pleeeeease can we have our babies??"

God help those of us still rattling around here come December. We will be sick of the sight of each other! If you know what I mean...

misssese · 16/11/2009 18:34

Update on my appointment today. So baby is fully engaged apparently most people would be in labour at this point but not me. Doctor couldn't do a sweep as although baby is so low my cervix is posterior and she couldn't quite reach it. Im booked in for an induction with gel on wed, they are letting me go home after having it. If nothing happens i have to go back in on thurs and have another dose. The Doctor basically explained that if that doesnt work il have my waters broken and if that doesnt work il have to have the drip. I really dont want to be put on the drip. Im not really sure if being induced is the right thing for me to do , but at the same time im fed up of waiting! Its really hard to no what to do as i really wanted a water birth/ as natural birth as possible. I feel id rather have a cs than be induced with the drip. Hobnob how long will you wait before having your cs? so will they do that instead of inducing you?

hobnob57 · 16/11/2009 19:14

misssese my appointment on Thursday, all being well, should give me grace until early next week when I'll be 42+3 or so according to their dates. However, according to mine I'll be 41+5.

I foresee them asking me to book a section date when I go in on Thursday, since I was asked today how long I thought I wanted to leave things. I gave a suitably vague answer today, and I'd like to see how things progress over the weekend. I get to book a cs since I've had one before but if this is your 1st or you've had a previous vb then I think induction is definitely the better option and I'm not sure the cs would be offered. At least with an induction you have the chance of a 'normal' birth and aren't sentencing yourself to a future of worry over scar ruptures in subsequent pregnancies. As long as you go in armed with the knowledge that you can say no to any procedure (I still don't understand why they insisted I went on the drip, but I'm sure they had their reasons) and to follow your instincts then you'll have a better experience than I did. Mine was a result of blind faith in 'procedures' and lack of MN wisdom at the time! And an epidural sounds like a good idea the more induction stories I read. Particularly if you can get a mobile one.

I'm just not together enough to book a date though - I'd rather just sit in this dreamy state and wait!

misssese · 16/11/2009 19:44

thanks hobnob i think if it comes to me being given the drip then il ask for a epidural as il have to be monitored, wont be able to have a water birth and not be able to be very mobile . This is my first birth and i feel so cluless , thanks sooo soooo much for all the information you have given me its really reassuring and means so much to me. Tonight iv been having a mini panic (think its the fear of the unknown) as its all starting to seem very real ( i will actually have to give birth) and iv been doubting myself. BUT im going to stay positive and the doctor said that if the gel works its likely i could still have a water birth so will focus on that!!!Also from reading the other ladies birth stories i get the impression that staying positive and confident helps you have a better birth so as long as i do that i should be fine!!! Im keeping my fingers crossed that you wont need your cs and everything will kick off for you! infact iv decided that we will both go in labour naturally - there its going to happen!!! it is!!! hehehe

Just popping in to say hello - back home after baby Toby Henry arrived saturday 3.55pm 9lbs 14oz after 5 1/2 hours labour born back to back so hurt a bit but he came out fine - sore nipples! No time to write more DH settling baby Toby first night at home DS1 unwell and house chaos. I'm sure there have been more babies so congrats to all and I will read back soon

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/11/2009 20:43

BBL congratulations and welcome to baby Toby!!! Someone much better versed than me will need to do a poem for you

Hope DS gets better soon x

raggie · 16/11/2009 21:25

Aw, missese and hobnob feeling for you, you poor things.

My due date still seems so far away it feels like could never actually go overdue as well but you mentioning it's your first missese made me realise that of course it could easily happen to me too! I hope you know we are all thinking of you and whatever you decide to do you will be a source of inspiration to us waiting 'on the other side'. Good luck! Fingers crossed something happens soon and labour will begin naturally for you both ASAP!
