PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/11/2009 21:41

I just typed a very long message and then my laptop run out of juice!

I shall be briefer - i have some lower back pain, and some lower belly pain, not contractions but something going on! I am thinking he is just teasing me though!

misssese i hope you get your water birth.

hobnob57 · 16/11/2009 22:02

Fingers crossed it's something pav. My back is a bit achey tonight but I don't think it's anything - I've had a very achey pelvis at the back for weeks and the sweep has prob just aggravated it.

belgianbun all the very best for tonight/tomorrow. Take the drugs if you get on the drip!!

Ninjacat · 16/11/2009 23:21

Becky I hear has had a boy
Toby Henry what a joy!
But we that are left on this thread
Are very jealous BendyLegs!
Though as your warm, and kind, and fun
We could not resent you your little son
So from these remaining November ladies
A million kisses for mum and baby x

Very well done Ninja!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/11/2009 05:57

5am. That is when my dd decided it would be a good idea and have a leaky nappy and then stay awake! DH has categorically decided he is not doing 6am starts, end of story. She can play or whatever but he now refusing to have her up. so either she plays, or i have to get up. therefore 5am was a definite no no. I have put her back in her room after attempting to get her back to sleep and she is 'marrying' a couple of her teddy bears currently. Luckily, she is at nursery today so they can deal with her tiredness later! She was a joy though, i don't know how he can be so grumpy at her when she is so cute in the morning.

No more progress. I woke a few times with achey back but it has not progressed into anything more, despite me talking very nicely to the little bump.

tasjaSAmuminSA · 17/11/2009 07:02

Morning ladies

Hope everyone is good and that we see some more babies soon.

Will catch up later with you again as me and DD are off to have some cake and tea with a friend and do some shopping just the 2 of us before DS arrives.

enjoy your day

BeckyBendyLegs · 17/11/2009 07:10

Hello all, Toby Henry born Saturday 3.55pm. 9lbs 14oz after 5 1/2 hours labour. Delivery was very normal although I ended up side-ways across the bed! He was back-to-back which was a bit inconvinient!

Only three days ago! Back home. Nipple hell at the moment not sure what to do. He fed constantly last night but would not settle until we gave him a bottle and my left-hand side looks like a war zone - seriously it looks like hell. I'm soooo tired and emotional! On the verge of giving up feeding him

BeckyBendyLegs · 17/11/2009 07:10

Ninja thanks so much for the poem

BeckyBendyLegs · 17/11/2009 07:11

Have there been more babies? I need to catch up.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/11/2009 07:26

BBL, congratulations! Welcome Toby! Re sore nipples, you have cream? post a thread, there will be loads of advice there for you, i wish i could help more, but it sounds not very nice at all . I really hope it improves.

A general question - does amniotic fluid have a smell?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/11/2009 08:35

I think my waters are leaking a tinsy bit. But hard to tell, as it is very very very slight indeed. Not a trickle, or a leak, just well, not completely dry. Plus a BH that made my entire belly go solid all over for about 30 seconds.

But then, on the other hand, there is a little movement right in my pelvis, baby is moving. But nothing like before, very very gentle.

claired21 · 17/11/2009 09:36

Ooo pav that sounds like progress! Any other signs?

sleeplessinthecity · 17/11/2009 09:42

Hi all! Have a moment to myself at last!!!
All is well in Geneva, Charlotte is feeding every hour so am a bit exhausted and just got home yesterday night. I will try and sort her out today as she got lots of cuddles and boob on tap in hospital. Was lucky as there was only one other in my room and it was clean and lovely and the MW were so helpful with everything.

Birth was good too!. Was induced with pink powder at 11 and at 11.15 my contractions started. They gave me more at 2 and broke waters at 4-ish and then gave me oxytocin. Contractions were far more painful than with a sweep so at 6 asked for an epidural. At 7 it needed to be boosted as i was still feeling them and by the time I felt relief the baby's head was poking out and she was out after 5 pushes at 8pm...For those of you left, its awesome!!! Holding your baby is a miracle..

Am thinking of you all, good luck. Pav sounds promising.
Congrats to all popping..Lissy, BBL,
pink and more...

bbl nipple hell here too as she's demanding and snacking..am using Lansinoh and Kamillosan alternately..its working but one is still toecurlingly OUCH!!! Persevere if you can. It will improve.

scarlotti · 17/11/2009 10:38

BBL congrats on Toby, another bouncing boy I gave Ioan formula top ups (about 45ml) at each feed for the first few days out of a flexible cup. It started due to his blood sugars being too low, but it also helped me get some respite in the first few days at home. He fed hourly to get my milk supply up and that lasted 2 days before it came in. Since then we haven't used the formula, although I do get an extra bit of sleep when we do so am thinking of doing a late night formula bottle.
Try and hang in there if you can, my nips feel like they might fall off so might try and find some lasinoh today. Otherwise you can rub in some milk and air dry. Use the formula to help you get some rest and give your nips a few hours off. We've also done a bottle and there was no nipple confusion but the next feed did take a little longer for him to latch on. He needs to get used to both though as we'll use bottles to give me a break even with ebm.

pav keeping it all crossed it happens for you soon

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/11/2009 10:47

Well I have definite increase in pressure going on, and what I just thought might be a contraction - an almighty pain in my nether regions, but it was not like last time, it was a harsh pain, rather than a dull pain but it made me yelp!

Due date is tomorrow, so timing would be pretty spot on!

My back is absolutely killing me though. I don't want to lie down in case I slow it all down, have been walking around to encourage him along, but think I might need to lie down just to ease my back pain. It is on the right, by my ribs, have had it for a few weeks, on and off but its non-stop and really sore now.

I really feel for you ladies with nipple pain. I really hope you get some respite very soon x

And all those lovely labouring ladies...hope you are doing well and have your babies with you very soon x

wook · 17/11/2009 11:57

Scarlotti and BBL all sympathies on the big baby/mega feeding frenzy/sore nipples situation- my nipples were bleeding over the weekend, I want to kiss the person who invented Lansinoh, after nearly a whole tube full I am now cured! (And I have nice soft lips too!)
Lansinoh is great smeared all over a soft breast pad ( I was finding anything touching agaony), but I still found it more helpful to just flop about the house breasts akimbo looking like a mummy gorilla for a day or so

scarlotti · 17/11/2009 12:46

pav sounds like it to me - I had horrendous back pain throughout my labour. If you lie down it will get worse as baby will press down on your back. Try lying on your side, or even better if you can lie on all fours draped over a ball/bed/cushions you might get some rest. Maybe your DD could rub your back gently?
Fingers crossed this is it for you and all goes well

roomac · 17/11/2009 13:18

hi all good luck to all those labouring today - sounds very promising Pavlov. Am not even dressed yet as Olivia still has not worked out night and day so I'm going with the sleep when they sleep policy. It feels a bit like hibernating as it is so grey outside - lovely. Going to do the school run later and expect to be mobbed as everyone in the ds' classes is done having babies and have been awaiting her arrival as keenly as me! Big hugs (avoiding chest area) for those with sore nipples - am at 30secs of agony then it's ok stage. Right lunch - blue cheese and Brie!

grace09 · 17/11/2009 13:30

Hello ladies! Not been on this thread since the early days. So lovely too hear all the new arrivals, well done! I'm due on the 27th but expect to go late as very little twinges etc here. Good luck to those having their babies soon!

wook · 17/11/2009 13:37

go pavlov!

claired21 · 17/11/2009 13:59

It's extremely quiet on here today. Anyone else think there will be baby announcements galore soon??

How are you doing pav? Hope things are picking up for you x

I remember you grace - you're from Glasgow as well I think? Good to have you back! Someone else to keep up attendance levels towards the end of the month hopefully!

hobnob57 · 17/11/2009 14:38

Sorry I can't add any excitement to the thread today . My achey back disappeared with a good sleep, and despite having a long walk today and hoovering there's no progress, apart from slightly more discharge than usual (but prob normal after a sweep?). Sounds like pav is having more luck today

DD was so sweet today. She seems to be having a respite from her whiney stage. We went for a walk with her (boy) friend from her antenatal group and the two of them were chasing each other all the way. They held hands to cross roads and even started hugging. That's when it all went wrong, when friend literally fell head over heels over her. He got a pavement head injury and her nose got a bit shredded from his coat. They all needed cake after that! That'll teach them not to show public displays of affection!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/11/2009 14:49

Hi all.

I was reading through your post scarlotti after attempting a nap and being unable to get comfy lying on my back and having to prop myself up with pillows, eating a tuna sarnie, and having experienced some mild stomach tightenings, and while I was reading it, I had my first proper contraction. However, nothing since though, and that was at this moment 14 minutes ago so got a way to go still. At what stage do I call mw/labour ward? 5 mins apart?

DH said 'i am not convinced you are in labour, you have only had one 'contraction'. Are you sure it was a contraction? have your waters broken? No? well then its not actual labour is it?'

He then said 'can you take the (broken bedroom) tele back to sainsbury's, if your waters break, great we might get some freebies, and if not, at least we get a new tele, which we will need' and handed me the keys. I cannot completely be sure he is joking Then, he said, 'oh I think I might put this bookcase up' Now? 'why not? Do you want me to sit around twiddling my thumbs?' (it has been there for a couple of months!) I think he might have just lost it....
