contractions don't seem to be speeding up or intensifying..i thought with 2nd labour it would be here in minutes...maybe i should get active!

Weston - I've hired a tens machine as well, when should you start using it? I thought when things kicked off I'd go for a bath then put the machine on straight after as I thought they'd said to use it as early as possible to allow the endorphins to build up?

Or should you wait until you know you're actually in labour and it's not just niggles before switching it on?

claired21 the first time around i used mine once the contractions got pretty painful and were at 'ow' level and i found the whole process of turning the machine one detracted from the pain, however this morning my contractions so far aren't that painful and very annoyingly seem to be dissapearing...aaghh..

I can't believe how many babies we have already and it's only just past the half way mark! And I'm sending speedy labour vibes to those not there yet

Just come back from a mw appointment and my blood pressure had gone up, again so despite me being on the highest dose medication 3 times a day i'm at 130/100 today. That makes my week look like:

• today; midwife appointment
• tues; monitoring at hospital with discussion re possible induction/next steps
• weds; growth scan
• thurs; consultant appointment
• fri; probable mw appointment

I've actually run out of space for appointments on the back of my green notes. That can't be a good sign

I'm spending the rest of today watching dvds and knitting!

fairybex sorry to hear about the raised blood pressure. Hope everything works out ok.

I'm packing bags today too Skorpion - at least we'll have it done before going into labour! I still feel as tho this baby's arrival is a long way off so haven't been too worried about it but I definitely feel calmer today knowing we're almost prepared! Or as near to prepared as you can be.

Do you feel as though baby's arrival is imminent? Looks like fairybex might be moving up the list shortly, might be down to you, Raggie & myself to finish off this thread!

Have been putting off adding myself to the list cos it puts me at the top of the expecting list and absolutely bugger all is happening!!!!

Saw mw on sat morning and all is well - we just have to wait......till Wed anyway. Due to go in for 4pm on Wed if nothing happens before.

All thoughts, prayers, sympathy for me to go before Wednesday would be greatly appreciated...just really really want things to start naturally!

Hello everyone, just popping in quickly while Henry is sleeping, (we were up every 1.5 to 2 hours last night)

fairybex sorry to hear your blood pressure is up again, do you think they may induce you soon?

claire and Skorpion happy bag packing! won't be long now, I was convinced Henry was going to come on the 21st! How wrong was I!

Don't worry fubble, I'm with you (and probably will be long after Wednesday!)

Saw midwife today. Despite waking up with baby's head curled up above my right pelvis as usual, by some freak of nature (or lots of good MN vibes ) it managed to engage to 4/5th palpable in the car on the way to my appointment. So, the MW was able to do a sweep, just about, since my cervix is still posterior and 2cm but soft enough to get in apparently. Haven't had much evidence of action since then. I seem to remember having bits of show and the baby being pretty active last time, but we are still sitting quietly as usual here, only one or two strong braxtons of any note.

So, the plan is that I get another sweep on Wednesday, I go into the hospital on Thursday and get a monitoring scan done, heartrate monitoring and a chat with a consultant about the outcomes. If all is well, they should be fine about leaving me until next week for a repeat performance. If not, I book a section.

It was a bit odd being back in the hospital and thinking that yes, babies actually arrive here and you get to take them home. And that WILL happen to me and soon. It's become an alien concept after all this waiting. I must take a leaf out of your books and actually check my hospital bag - it's that long since I packed it!

Sorry to hear about your BP fairybex - it's so hard not to have control over these things. At least you're being taken care of with all these appointments.

Good grief! so many babies all here safely - it's fab. Congratulations to all you clever ladies. Can't quite belive I'm STILL waiting for mine, especially as my due date was one of the first - feel v cheated!Have 2nd sweep tomorrow, and if still no joy, then induction is booked for Friday.

So fed up now of no progress, despite every effort, but DH keeps reminding me that one way or the other it should all be over by the weekend, when I'm 42 weeks, which is good but scary! Good luck to everyone on their way today, and hopefully I'll be joining you all soon, xx

beepbeep - yes it must be a third baby thing. My other two labours went smoothly and quickly once they had started too. Surely the exit route should be clearly marked third time around! Or maybe there's just a lot more room for them to play in there.

So glad to hear of such a flurry of arrivals. Would love to be next if anyone can organise? Sweep tomorrow so fingers crossed!

ursigurke if you go to a Kodak shop, they have a white large cushion/beanbag that the baby will be propped up in and the person will take the photo as many times as it takes to get a good shot, and you are guaranteed it will pass the passport criteria, if it is rejected, you can go back and they will do it again for free. We did this with DD, although admittedly she was 4 months old at the time! It is not much more expensive than a passport kiosk, around £4.50. Maybe gone up to a fiver now, but worth it. Then you can go in when the little one has a brief moment of awakeness. They are also a little more relaxed about babies criteria, i think eyes open, but they don't have to be staring right at the camera, the photographer will know what will pass and not.

ninja a LIST for a baby shower, dictating what to bring? omg that sounds horrendous! My baby shower was a chance for a group of girls to all get together and talk about babies, and an excuse to eat lots of bad for you food! I had some lovely presents, but i did not ask for anything. In fact a couple of friends asked if there was anything i wanted/needed and I said, don't need babygros, they did not have to buy anything at all and they insisted so i said surprise me. So i got mostly stuff for me . And blimey i would not dream of asking for a cot
