longwayaway that reminds me, every year we get a scarf each from MIL. How many scarfs does a person need? Maybe we can suggest she put her skills to better use...

longwayaway · 12/11/2009 12:30

Laugs that can be a problem, admittedly. Hats, mittens, leg warmers, blankets?? My grandmother has knit everyone in the family a Christmas stocking... very charming to see the whole row of them when we spend the holidays at her house, as she has five sons (and my mom), most of them in their 50s but all with their own stockings - that they've had since they were babies - each with the person's name and different Xmas patterns We take stockings very seriously in my family.

Should be working but I think I'll make more of these brownies. I made them last weekend and they were fantastic. Can't say all the ingredients were fair trade... but they seemed to have turned out OK anyway

katster37 · 12/11/2009 13:00

Hmm, woolly bras sound good!! Will have a look and see what I can find...

I am locked in the house. I gave my keys to DH last night and he left them in his gym bag and has gone to work. Great. Had to shout through the front door to the mothercare delivery man who was v reluctant to leave the stuff on the step, but I think I persuaded him in the end. Unfortunately there's another delivery due soon as well, and the trains are on strike so DH will be late home... I hope I don't need the firebrigade to rescue me

sleeplessinthecity · 12/11/2009 13:01

ninja echo your sentiments..please wake me up when all over..and dreading the induction tom..I've only ever heard bad stories about them..well done to your DS!!!

Sweeps are uncomfortable but not for long and mine worked the first time..depends on how ripe the cervix is..

Wizzywoo jealous of your naptime!!..

Trying to blank out yesterday's ultrasound..they noted something skipping in baby's heartbeat and assured me after checking for an hour that it was not unusual and baby is fine.. but i keep worrying..

COME ON CONTRACTIONS...praying for pain..how sadistic is that!

Fruitpastels · 12/11/2009 13:07

Hello ladies,

Just popping in to say hello. I've not been able to post properly since the birth of my baby boy. He is doing really well. I'm so happy I've mastered the breastfeeding, I found it hard at first but its become like second nature now. I couldn't get on with breastfeedng DS1 and gave up after a few days. It's made my experience 2nd time around so very different. He is a dream but I'm feeding him like a machine this morning. I've managed to do nothing other than sit and watch daytime TV today. DH goes back to work next week, so I'll be doing the pre-school run with DS1 and have to try and be on time - no idea how that will happen! We have named him Cruz. DS1 loves him to bits, he is very gentle towards the baby. I couldn't ask anymore of him.

I can't for the life of me catch up with everyones news. Congrats to the ladies that have had their babies, Scarlotti & Erica, I'm sure i've missed a few of you out. I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone when the postnatal thread begins. Good luck to all of you that are still waiting to pop

hobnob57 · 12/11/2009 13:09

I'll take all your unwanted woollies up here - I find you can never have enough wool (so long as it's not 'pretend' like acrylic in which case you may as well be wearing a t-shirt

My mum called this morning and she's not in a good way after her SF vaccine. This is not to scare any of you off having he vaccine - I was fine - but I think she's a bit immunocompromised at the moment. She's been in bed since Monday with violent shivers, aching, temp, vomiting, etc. I'm so glad she had the vaccine since I don't think she'd have survived the real thing at this rate. It's made me realise I'm glad to have had it and despite the sore arm and nauseous niggles my immune system seems to be in robust health. Thanks to maternity leave as well I'm not as run down as she was before she had it.

Just had a thought - did pav have hers? Myst read back and have a look and see if that's contributing to her sickness.

Koumak · 12/11/2009 13:09

misssese YES
I have told everybody in real world I was due middle of November (family) or sometime in Nov (colleagues etc.)! It did work.

I wish I had woolly bra! My nipples are so sensitive now I am breastfeeding, like the best thermometer.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 13:10

{angry] Now, its not that I wanted a trip to the hospital. I want that like a hole in the head unless it is to give birth to this lovely little one. But, i went to see GP, waited for a bloody hour (luckily i had my book), and told him what has been going on, what midwife said, what day assessment said etc.

He said ' no need to do that, you are fine to take the drugs I prescribed, take one of each per day, plus some giaviscone straight after all food. I would suggest you get yourself a bottle of water and keep it with you at all times, and sip from it ever half hour or so. Do not worry about not eating for a few days, that is not so important, fluids are' . He did a wee test, said it was fine, after inspecting it for a long time (normally throws it away instantly saying fine). Anyway, he was quite blase and dismissed any referal to the day assessment centre completely out of hand, and made me feel a bit .

He was not at all concerned that I have been vomitting or unable to hold food down, completely the opposite of the MW in fact.

hobnob57 · 12/11/2009 13:10

Just to add as reassurance too that by immunocompromised, I mean my mum has Crohn's, hyperparathyroid and all kinds of other issues, hence her getting the vaccine.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 13:13

hobnob yes I did have mine...do you think it could be making my puking worse?

Comma2 · 12/11/2009 13:15

Hi,

little Esme has arrived! She weighs a proud 9 lb 5 oz, and the labour was long but good even if the epidural could have worked a bit better at the pushing stage.

I'm waiting for my milkshake! DH has gone home to pick up dd and feed the dog.

Good luck to all in labour or getting there. Look forward to it, the little ones smell really, really good, make the cutest little sounds, and are super soft and squishy, just perfect for a cuddle :-)

Koumak · 12/11/2009 13:15

xposted

Fruitpastels yey you are back! We have missed you!

Sleepless don?t worry about your lo. When ds was born they couldn?t let us go home straight away because they thought that ds might have a heart murmur. But he didn?t. It turns out that a lot of babies have "funny" heartbeat and can only truly tell when they are 24 hrs or older. I am sure your little bub will be fine.

hobnob57 · 12/11/2009 13:16

I was wondering, especially since mum hasn't kept food down in days. Keep an eye on your temp and harrass that GP if necessary . Would the assessment clinic take you if you just turned up? I'm sure they wouldn't turn you away...

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 13:16

ninja well done to your DS!

Koumak · 12/11/2009 13:18

oh wwwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Comma congratulations! Welcome little Esme!

hobnob57 · 12/11/2009 13:19

can't keep up!

Comma well done!!!!!!! Lots of snuggly cuddles coming your way

and fruitpastels so good to hear from you and that BF is working out 2nd time. It's so much easier to get out and about if it does. Sending deep sleep/nap vibes your way.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 13:19

comma x-posted sorry! welcome Esme, so glad you chose that name as you really wanted it and its beautiful. Well done you!!!! So glad you got to avoid the CS you so did not want, I am very pleased! to you x

Fruitpastels · 12/11/2009 13:35

Well done comma!! Esme is a beautiful name. I'm enjoying the baby smell too - wonderful!

katster37 · 12/11/2009 13:38

Comma yaaaay and welcome, Esme!! So she knew exactly what she was doing then?

How annoying, Pav. Have you told MW what he said? As if you haven't tried all those things already. Did you not say you've not held any food down for the last nine months and not just today??? How annoying.

Great to hear from Fruitpastel and Lemontop. Fruitp glad the bfing is going well, it's great to hear a positive story in that respect.

Just persuaded the mothercare delivery man to leave all my stuff outside since DH has locked me in. I hope it doesn't rain before 7pm...

I am contemplating a nap.

Fruitpastels · 12/11/2009 13:38

Pav Hope you're ok - what's been going on with you? I've not been on for a while and missed loads.

helips · 12/11/2009 13:40

Congrats to you comma glad it all went well and now you can enjoy your baby cuddles, completely agree about the smell! Esme is a gorgeous name, well done you!

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/11/2009 14:03

Ooooh congrats Comma!!

Also good to hear happy BF stories as I am sooo getting nervous about my third attempt at this!!! I really want it to work out well this time.

I had a scary experience at my 40-week check today. The midwife couldn't find the heart beat for what felt like ages and ages and for the 20 seconds or so it did take her to find it I had given birth to a still born baby, had the funeral, been in a total state of grief, and the world had collapsed around me. Then she found it. Big phew. The little blighter has turned nearly back to back and hence why it was harder to find than normal so the midwife goes on about long labours! I'd better get skirting board cleaning or something.

Hooray Comma yet another baby
Have we more girls than boys now maybe?
I've lost count of where we are
For the rest waiting, the journey isn't too far
Soon baby heaven is where we'll be
At least that is what I am hoping for me!

Ok that last line is really, really lame but I am struggling now!!!

Ninjacat · 12/11/2009 14:25

Wizzy hope you are getting some slep as I write. DS is 12 btw (yr8).

Sleepless best of luck with the induction and try not to worry too much about the scan. Drs always err on the side of caution.

Hobnob I turned my vaccine down. I'm really hoping that was the right thing for me.

Congratulations Camma and welcome Esme.

I'm so sorry Wizzy I know this was BBLs challenge but I'm just too competative (and bored stiff after 3day mat leave)

Wizzywoo's baby Fenadgee
Has been the cause of her need to pee
At least a hundred times a night
But still the babe remains inside.
Oh woe to being overdue
It makes you cry and feel so blue
Curry, sage and raspberry leaf
Seem to offer no relief.
So there's only one thing for it
To get the babe to make an exit
But sex as steamy as a sauna
Needs a knitted willy warmer

Arrrgggh! Typed a big long post then internet crashed!
Couldn't be bothered typing it all again so in summary:

-Comma, congrats, you must be so proud of yourself and your beautiful daughter!

-Went for sweep today but mw couldn't do it because my stupid cervix is still shut tight.

-Now have to wait til induction on Monday, and I know its only a matter of days away but it will feel like forever since I'm already 10 days over!!

-Am going to crawl into bed for a nap and may well just stay there til monday morning!

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/11/2009 14:30
