BBL The MW who saw me yesterday had trouble finding a heartbeat too! She blamed it on the oil I rub on my tummy... but my regular MW has never had trouble finding the heartbeat

Congrats on Esme, Comma!! So pleased you could avoid the section.

Pav Very annoying that the GP ignored your MW's advice

Just noticed that Kyte posted a birth announcement if you all want to check it out!

weston · 12/11/2009 15:18

Esme, Cruz and Bluebell i love those names congrats everyone!!! Even though we have already picked a name ( which we are sticking too!!!!) i keep getting really inspired my everyones name choices and also seeing everyones real names on FB!!!Just watched "Elizabeth-The golden Age" rather good!!
P.S iv requested that DP bring me krispy Kreme donuts when we come home from work cant wait for them!!!lol

VenusInfers · 12/11/2009 16:15

Comma Hurrah! Well done! so pleased little Esme didn't pull another switcheroo on you at the last minute. Hurrah!

Pav on your behalf at git-faced GP. Bloody pig-headed arrogant ARSE. Swine flu is too good for the likes of he.

Longwayaway I love the sound of your grannies stockings, old family traditions like that are brilliant, quite brings the tears to ones eyes. Brownies look good too, only I've only just made a banana loaf. Can you have too much cake?

BBL What a little naughty LO to turn back to back at this stage! Esp as he gave you a near heart attack whilst your MW found his heartbeat. Hope he follows Esme's fine example and turns right back round again!

Sleepless and TOK I too am in the induction club this weekend. No def day, possibly tomorrow but by Sunday at the latest. Gutted not to be able to have the water birth I'd hoped for, but focusing on the reward at the end of it all. And by that I think I mean the baby rather than the bottle of yummy Prosecco that's been chilling since my EDD. . Fingers crossed that one or all of us manage it naturally.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 16:27

fruit i love the name Cruz. What great names all these little babies are having barnowl congratulations to Bluebell's arrival too, I so love that name. In answer to your Q Fruit, i have been upchucking a lot for a few days, and midwife said she thought i should to day assessment but that gp needed to refer, gp said 'nah, not needed, just drink water, don't need food'

katster he said to me, how long have you been being sick for...and I said 'errrrrrr...the whole pg Dr, you know that' 'oh yes, of course you have' He seemed distracted today. And how annoying for you that you are stuck inside that must be really frustrating!

Luckily, i have in fact not been sick today, felt it, have a headache, but not been sick. I have been taking the medication again though so that is most likely why, which I really did not want to have to do again. I did not talk to MW, as the advice line is only open 9-10am daily. DH is so annoying too, he is like 'well he is the Dr, he should know, if he is worried, he would send you up' er, no, he needed me to explain to him what a 'physiological third stage' was .

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 16:31

And i have to cook today. I am not impressed. DH does all the cooking. So only fair I do some. But I really can't face preparing food, and he is in a pissy about it 'i really would like a break you know pavlov darling, i cook all the time' yes, and I am carrying your son would quite like a break too, but not a chance? Would be quite nice to have a break from being sick - you have not been sick today have you?' So, either I cook, or he cooks and sulks and it will not be cooked with any kind of love. Humf.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/11/2009 17:10

Another baby announcement today: baby Bluebell
Aren't we all doing incredibly well?
Barnowl, thanks for the lovely news today
I can't keep up with all these babies, no way
The next baby will be a boy I am sure
But who will produce, let's wait to hear more!

I really, really want to have a rant about something hurtful my MIL has just said but I don't want to cry so I can't bring myself to write about it! Also being mad at her I feel ungrateful as she has come over this afternoon to look after the DSs while I do Hippos in Water (and I was so mad I didn't even say thanks as she left - horrible DIL I am!). It is really trivial but she's really 'rattled my hinges' as DH would say! Grrrrrrrr! Perhaps it is a pregnancy thing: lack of tolerance. I'm sure I normally let things brush over me. Grrrrrrrrr! Rant! Fume!

VenusInfers · 12/11/2009 17:13

Long, slow breaths BBL, long sloooow breaths!

Laugs · 12/11/2009 17:20

I've just heard of another baby on facebook... is it wrong to tell?

Laugs · 12/11/2009 17:22

Big Congratulations on the arrivals of Esme, Cruz and Bluebell! I can't keep up at all. Glad they're all doing well.

raggie · 12/11/2009 17:56

Just popping head in to say hello!

Welcome to all new babes! Congrats comma!

And wow, well done erika with the no tearing and resisting pain relief. You are an inspiration to me m'lovely x

Sorry to hear grrrrrrrrrrrr BBL but just spotted you have overtaken me in Bejewelled Blitz so that at least should cheer you up a teeny bit . Hope you enjoyed hippos in water.

At midwife's today she told me that my LO is pretty much fully engaged! Left feeling very pleased then realised I don't actually know if it means anything that good. Unlikely to pop back out isn't she as my first but also doesn't mean she's on her way, does it? She could be bouncing on my cervix for weeks yet....right?!

katster37 · 12/11/2009 18:29

Hugs, BBL. MILs can be the bane of our lives can't they?? I'm sure it's not pregnancy hormones, you always sound so calm and together - she must have been really out of order. Also at your horrid experience at the MWs. How terrifying. Was she looking in the wrong place? or perhaps it's because baby is back to back? I was back to back but I think baby has moved. Or, according to one out of two midwives, he has. We will see. Apparently they can turn a lot during labour anyway.

I have rescued my mothercare delivery, which has been getting drenched from the sudden downpour. No damage done, just a ton more baby stuff to clutter the house and remind me that I still have no actual baby!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/11/2009 18:47

Thanks guys! I must be feeling emotional because I wish I could give you all a hug!! I've just told DH what was bothering me and he gave me a big hug and said 'it doesn't matter what she thinks so long as we are happy' so I feel soooo much better!

Katster it was because the baby had moved that the MW couldn't find the heartbeat today but for those terrifying seconds I was thinking the worst! Oh no sorry to hear your delivery was drenched - hopefully soon you will have someone to appreciate and use your baby stuff

Raggie sorry about bejewelled! I had a lucky game

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 19:02

anyone know how to unblock a blocked ear?

scarlotti · 12/11/2009 19:11

Hello all

Just popping in to see how you're all doing, have tried to catch up on everyone's news but it's so hard!

Welcome to all the new babies and commiserations to all hanging on in overdue land, you have my sympathies but it won't be long.

Doing ok here, finally managed to get somewhere with the breast feeding today. Ioan's been on formula top ups since day 1 as his blood sugar dropped too low - he's very big so was being monitored. Basically colostrum just wasn't enough. Milk is obviously starting to flow now though so he's managed to go from lunchtime today with no extras and I'm relieved. One of my big concerns was getting it to work as I had problems last time.

Other than that it's just a slightly nose out of joint 4 year old to contend with. He's struggling a little with the reduction in attention but am sure that's just another thing that will get sorted soon.

Well, have to head off now, more feeding to be done

Do we have a postnatal thread yet?

curiositykilledhaskittens · 12/11/2009 19:27

Hi, have only posted on here once before but promised Erika I'd let her know when my twins arrived. I see Bryn is here, many congrats to Erika and her DP.

Mine arrived in the midwifery unit as planned, with some gas and air on 6th November when I was 40+3. Dylan George Sumner born at 11.03am weighing 7lb 2oz, Lily Ruth Sumner born at 11.18am weighing 5lb 7oz, both were born in their waters which was strange to see but very interesting. We came home on Saturday and everything is going well! DS and DD coping very well with the new arrivals.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 19:31

curiosity what fab news! Twins! Congratulations and good luck, come and post on our post-natal thread too when we have it up and running...

I was just sitting on the sofa thinking philosophical thoughts and thinking about this time last year ... and wondering what all you guys on this thread were doing / thinking a year ago. Did you imagine that a year from that point in mid-November you'd be cuddling your new borns / about to give birth to your first, second, third ... fifth etc child? Were your desperately TTCing and posting on the conception thread comments such as 'will it ever happen to me?' Or were you just bumbling around in total ignorance of what was going to happen in the year ahead? I was in the TTCing category - after an MC in May forcing poor DH to perform a few times every month and thinking I was getting too old and number three would never be. And here we are! Life is weird.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 20:04

I was still working on convincing dh that a second one would be good. I had pretty much convinced him, but worked on it a bit longer He agreed, said lets try in new year. Which we did, and i concieved immediately, much to his annoyance as he wanted to 'practice' a bit longer .

Our life was very different then too. For example, he had a good job. We were off to New york for xmas, we had our flat on the market to sell, to upgrade to a house with a garden. By beginning of Jan it all changed, Dh lost his job, we realised we would not be able to sell, but we carried on with our plans to have another thinking it would not happen so soon!

claired21 · 12/11/2009 20:14

I fall into the total ignorance category. DP suggested around August time TTC and we'd stopped preventing it but weren't really 'trying', iykwim. We're both delighted to be having a baby but given that I still don't have my hospital bags packed and DP still hasn't checked with halfords that our car seat is ok in our car... I suspect it is going to be a huge shock to us!!

I really do need to be better organised. By Sunday, at 38 weeks pregnant, I promise to have hospital bags packed!! (Only putting it off until then because I still need to buy various items).

sleeplessinthecity · 12/11/2009 20:20
