Awww what a lovely and very proud sounding post Tabor I hope you're all well and very happy right now. Erika sounds like she did an amazing job Best wishes to you all x x x

Ninja I am sorry ds dad is being an arse sounds like he is just trying to get at you and get a reaction, grrrrrr. I'm sure he will turn up. Easier said than done but try to ignore him and his idiotic behaviour. Hope you are ok x x

katster37 · 12/11/2009 09:14

BeepBeep you poor thing. I hope you're feeling a bit better. Not long now

BBL and Pav oh dear, it sounds horrific. Pav have you been to the Dr's /spoken to them today? I don't know if they would send you to hospital, but as your DH says, you'll need to have energy for the birth... Probably a useless suggestion, but how are you with things like Dextrose tablets? Do you feel hungry or has the whole experience destroyed your enjoyment of food? You poor thing. I bet you can't wait to have the baby, and be able to tuck into your favourite food.

Well, I don't know what is happeneing here. I suspect nothing, and my body is playing tricks on me. Had bad period-type cramps in the night which woke me up, and this morning I have got a heaviness type pain/sensation. But not in waves like contractions, more like a constant thing. Feel like I have let everyone down - my mum was so convinced it was all kicking off yesterday, and when people ring/text saying 'any news?????????' and I have to reply 'Nope. Sorry.' It is quite embarrassing!!!

katster37 · 12/11/2009 09:17

Oooo Tabor just seen post!! That is lovely - well done Erika and welcome Bryn!!

Oh Ninja, that is ridiculous. Of course you can't drive all that way, what an inconsiderate pig. And seven months as well!!! How is your DS feeling about the whole thing?

In the hope of cheering us up a bit (although you might v well think is bad taste...), have a look at this hee hee

claired21 · 12/11/2009 09:32

katster dare I ask what you were googling to discover that??

ninja your ex is being very unfair. Nobody would expect you to make a journey that far at this stage of pregnancy. Not sure what to suggest I'm afraid as he isn't being reasonable at all but try not to let it get to you.

Congratulations to erika and family! I know you were concerned about coping with labour with your ME and sounds like you did brilliantly so well done you. Hope Bryn is settling in well x

I'm off to an awards ceremony today to collect a Diploma, accepting the invitation seemed like a good idea at the time, not sure how I can look professional with what looks like a basketball in my belly and also having parents in tow as DP is a teacher so can't attend. Ho hum, if nothing else I'll have a nice lunch!

Sending positive vibes to all those in labour or nearly there! Still think I'll be last to pop, baby is still very high and have had none of the early labour symptoms you guys are describing. At least there are a few of us due at the end of nov for company. xx

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 09:33

katsterjust spoke to midwife advice line at hosp. MW i spoke to said she thought I should come up to day assessment as there is a real chance of being dehydrated and also they needed to look at medication/if its ok to take etc. She said at this stage of pg regular vomitting is not good due to dehydration and also the retching on stomach won't help during labour. She asked about dehydration and I said that wee was dark, but i was at least going, and I felt ok (as ok as I ever feel but i had a kidney infection and did not know!) she said dark wee definitely means check it out.

Day assessment then said I have to go to my gp first, who will assess me and then refer me if he feels it is required. Which he probably won't. She said push for it as she would prefer to see me up there, even if it all turns out to be fine, at 39wks she would prefer to err on the side of caution so I ned to tell the gp i have spoken to them and they have advised it.

As she said, its a pain, such a round about way of doing it. But i have an appt with gp at 10:40am.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/11/2009 09:46

Katster that really cheered me up! Dying to know how you came across knitted willy warmers. Is it anything to do with the knitted boobs? Were you worried your DH was missing out??

Pav glad you've got an appointment.

Claire congrats on the diploma! Enjoy the lunch.

ErikaMaye has had her baby Bryn
Hearing that news really made me grin
She did so well, we are so happy
And her DP has changed his first nappy!
We hope she is able to come home soon
To see the photos, we'll be over the moon!

katster37 · 12/11/2009 09:46

Pav insist that your GP refers you. Even if you have to have a drip to rehydrate you a bit, it's worth it - as MW says, is best to err on side of caution. Keep us posted.

Claired I was telling my friend about thw kitted boobs, and she had apparently once bought her now-DH a knitted willy warmer once xmas - so I had to google and see what came up

VenusInfers · 12/11/2009 09:50

Lordy, Pav, what a palaver. Shame you can't just go and see the woman who wants you to be at the day assesment, and you have to battle your way through the GP first. Still, as your ex-builder if finding out, you're not a woman to be messed with!

Sympathy to all those who had a rotten night - esp Lucieerin. Thank goodness you've got such a supportive DP, at least the end is now in sight.

Respect to Comma for her live labour update last night. Fine example of dedication to the Nov. thread! Not sure how many of us will be able to match that kind of commitment to the cause, but she's certainly an inspiring example... Oooh, wonder if she's cuddling a little baby punctuation point now?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 09:52

Those willy warmers are soooooo funny! I would get one for DH but they don't appear to have his size

claired21 · 12/11/2009 10:00

pregnancy would be a lot less fun without this thread!

Koumak · 12/11/2009 10:04

Just popping in to say congratulations to Maman and Erika welcome baby Dan and Bryn! And good luck to all of you labouring ladies.

The ones still waiting - hope the time goes quickly.

I have a very smelly baby on my lap, have not even brushed my teeth and need to take a shower, the house is a tip and I have people coming but not sure what time!
Are you sure you want your babies arriving any time soon? Not that you have a choice now!

Ninjacat · 12/11/2009 10:06

Kaster

BBL interesting turn of phrase "Dying to know how you came across those willy warmers" tee hee hee.

Thank you ladies for cheering me up x

Any one else spotting? I'm spotting this morning but just a tiny bit on wiping. Just wondered if any one else had this?

OP posts:
WizzyWoo · 12/11/2009 10:11

Morning All

Another bouncing baby to greet! Congratulations Maman! And thank you for telling us a positive induction story, it's so reassuring. Welcome baby Dan

Lemontop It's good to hear from you - I'd forgotten just how early Isaac was born! Glad to hear you're all doing well xx

Southern My fat fingers are staying crossed that a bed opens up for you and the next we hear from you is news of your little one arriving safe and sound

TOK Not another annoying MIL on this thread! Try and keep your cool but if you flip and bludgeon her to death with your full hospital bag, we'll act as character references for you - "Yes, your honour, she was definitely insane at the time!"

Lucieerin Really sorry to hear about the messing about you had yesterday. What kind of hospital doesn't ring to see where someone is if they haven't turned up for an operation, even if they did have the wrong date??? Very for you. At least you know that this time next week, you'll be holding your new baby x

Tabor It's so lovely of you to post and let us know how Erika is doing - you sound like you've taken to being a dad like a duck to water! Here's a knitted boob for you, as an honorary November lady!!

Ninja Your DP sounds like a star! You Ex on the other hand needs a hard slap with a wet fish... which I'm sure any one of us overdue hormonal ladies would be happy to do for you!

Katster Is it wrong that I'm now thinking of getting DH one for a stocking filler??

Pav I hope you're ok. I know it's a pain but the MW is right, you really should be checked out. It seems a daft system though, having to go through you GP first...

Well, my sweep yesterday did officially jack all. Still here, very uncomfortable and now starting to worry about the logistics of being induced and what to do with DD. I have to go in at 9pm or 11pm depending on bed situation on Sat 21st Nov and DH's SIL who had offered to help works late nights on Saturdays, so DH's DB will have his kids to attend to already (he gets very stressed especially as they don't go to bed well)... not really wanting to put DD into the mix since we've just spent the last 8 weeks getting her sleeping routine back. I'd ordinarily ask DH's cousin to help out but she's my other birthing partner as DH was frankly useless when I was having DD (he freely admits that, it's not just me being mean).

I'm debating asking my eldest sister, who lives in Liverpool and who my DD adores, to come up for that weekend but DH isn't keen as she has a habit of outstaying her welcome and is very bossy (she's a head-teacher and forgets to shake off the job title at home). Keep hoping that I'll go into labour myself but not convinced at all.

I've also joined the ranks of the extremely tired. I had all sorts planned today but I don't think I can achieve any of it. Think it's a combination of being overdue, peeing almost constantly overnight and getting over pig flu. On the plus side, I noticed this morning that my boobs are almost falling out of my bra and as a relatively small boobed person, I'm very happy about it!

WizzyWoo · 12/11/2009 10:13

Ninja No spotting, but I'm obsessively inspecting every time I've been to the loo after yesterday's sweep! Hopefully this is a sign that things aren't too far away for you?

Ninjacat · 12/11/2009 10:30

Thanks Wizzy. By the way does a sweep hurt, or just uncomfortable?
I hope it works for you soon x

OP posts:
WizzyWoo · 12/11/2009 10:44

Ninja It's no more than uncomfortable I'd say. It feels like they're pressing harder than when you have a smear and they have a good old rummage around in there so it feels kind of strange... It's better if they can reach your cervix easily - apparently it was like mining for gold trying to find mine yesterday! The knuckles on the outside were more uncomfortable than the finger inside IYSWIM- sorry for TMI!!

I've been having painful rumblings down there since yesterday but they're not contractions, so maybe it is doing something... I've got another one due with the MW on Tuesday so perhaps the combination of two will give the baby the hint!

hobnob57 · 12/11/2009 10:56

Morning Grumblies!
Once again I thank my lucky stars that sleep and toilet visits haven't been an issue for me this pg - I just don't know how you all manage, but I suppose you have to. Part of the Motherhood package. And these 3rd pregnancies sound awful!
DD and I are bored bored bored. It's dark and raining outside. We've run out of ingredients for Kyte's cookies. I can't stomach a morning of cbeebies. I'm knackered and resolutely sitting on my ball in case LO decides to move. I don't know if I can stand a whole day of this!!!! DD is off to spend day with MIL tomorrow so that should be a bit better at least.

It's so hard to feel that this ball business is doing any good when DD is constantly trying to climb up/give me shoves cuddles, demand some kind of entertainment. Poor thing. She is deprived these days.

ninja sounds like a show of some kind?
pav hope you get your appointment at the centre - I would be worried about dehydration. I was told to try what I liked to induce labour but NOT castor oil because the potential for dehydration was very dangerous for both mum and bubs.
erika well done lass! Enjoy that hormonal high (just ignore the low afterwards).
Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, I've been trying to catch up all morning whilst being interrupted by a bored DD and my laptop randomly updating and shutting down without asking me.

Ninjacat · 12/11/2009 10:57

Wizzy lets hope things start before sweep number 2. Are you on the raspberry leaf, clari sage, curry and pinapple diet?
I think I have changed my mind and don't really want to do this any more. Just want to be woken up when its all over.

OP posts:
katster37 · 12/11/2009 10:59

Ha - glad the willy warmer has cheered people up!

BBL loving the poem, I think when all our babies are here, you should get a Nov 09 poetry book published, with a photo of each baby under its poem! I am, of course, reconsidering my name choices to see how you would cope with the most 'unrhymable' thing I can think of

Found that Tesco sell Thornotons mini toffee cakes - how exciting! Got people from my NCT class coming round for tea and cakes this afternoon, but it may well be just tea at this rate!

Ooooo wonder how Comma is??? And Eeyore and Tigger??? Things are hotting up now!

Ninjacat · 12/11/2009 11:03

I am feeling very proud. DS just called to say he got a place on the School Leadership Group

OP posts:
WizzyWoo · 12/11/2009 11:35

Ninja I'm officially all raspberry leafed out! I've given up on the pineapple etc too, as they didn't work with DD either. I like the idea of being woken up when it's over. Sounds much more civilised I think! Congratulations to your DS! How old is he?

Katster's right, Becky is so good with the poems, I think she needs more of a challenge... We still haven't thought of a name but when I asked DD, she suggested (and please excuse the spelling of her imaginary name) "Fenadgee"!! Now that would be difficult to rhyme with!

I'm soooo tired now that I've decided against going to the mall opening, going into labour with Joanna Lumley there to encourage me with her lovely voice, getting M&S freebies when my waters go in their new store etc etc (I know, I was living in a dream world really!). I'm going to crawl into bed with a cup of Chai Latte (my new craving) and go to sleep for a couple of hours since DD and DH aren't around to harrass me!

misssese · 12/11/2009 11:46

Does anyone else wish they had lied telling all their family and friends they were due a month later. I no everyone means well with all the messages, phone calls, emails and text but i feel like screaming " NO I HAVENT HAD THE BABY YET ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

longwayaway · 12/11/2009 12:01

misssese YES

at the willy warmers!! I am blessed with many friends who knit, and one year a friend asked me what we wanted for Christmas... I said "scarf" and DH said "ball warmers". He'll be so pleased to see that these exist.

wook · 12/11/2009 12:07

WizzyWoo gardening got me going in the end: moved two small bushes with my mum, went in to eat- bingo, contractions!

Laugs · 12/11/2009 12:11

lucieerin Only 6 days tomorrow. Hang in there ((hugs))

tabor great to hear Erika's done so well and of the arrival of baby Bryn. Sounds like you're all chuffed to bits!

Congrats to your DS too Ninja. He really does sound like a star!

I'm hoping since we haven't heard from southerbelle that she got a bed this morning... And wonder if there's any news from our labouring ladies comma, tigger and eeyore... here's a to keep them going.

I love the willy warmers. I wonder if you can get woolly bras for breastfeeding on cold winter nights.

wizzy Sounds like a tough choice re the induction, but I'm glad to hear DD is sleeping again. If I lived nearer I'd offer to help out but neither DH nor I drive so I don't think we'd be able to get to you! Do you have a neighbour you could ask to babysit just until SIL finishes work? We are also keeping our fingers crossed that I go into labour at a convenient time so childcare is sorted... Probably a bit of wishful thinking there as most people seem to start contracting in the night.

Which makes me think, maybe we should all just take to our beds and bring on labour that way?
