Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Trikken · 11/11/2009 15:25

not looking forward to going into hospital for the sweep tonight, as on monday I felt like a failure that it couldnt be done. at the same time i want to try, am desperate to see this baby now.

VenusInfers · 11/11/2009 15:33

Oh, Trikken, you know it's not something that you can control. Your body will know when it's ready to give birth to your LO. 10% of overdue babies are over a week late, chance just put you and I in that exclusive group. LO will be here soon. Very, very soon.

WizzyWoo · 11/11/2009 15:53

Hi Everyone

Thank you so much for all your messages of support, it's really helped. DH was brilliant when he got home. He's usually not the most comfortable with female tears but he was my rock last night. My sister is doing ok, shocked but very resolute that she has to face facts now (she admits to being in denial for the last couple of years) and be strong for her children. Bless her, she was more concerned about me and the baby although she said she'll be giving it a ticking off for being late... We both cried a lot but if anything, this has brought us even closer. I'm a lot calmer today, especially knowing that my sister's coping so well, although I know she'll have up and down days.

I really can't thank you all enough for being there for me - here's a knitted boob just for you all!

I've just got back from hospital. I was due to see my consultant tomorrow but got asked this morning if I could come in since she'll be on sick leave from tomorrow. Anyway, she did a membrane sweep and after a long chat about the baby's condition, my fears of induction etc, we've agreed that we'll leave induction until the bitter end so that hopefully I'll go into labour myself. So I'm booked to go in on 21st November, which is the latest they'll leave it...

Kyte Congratulations and welcome to the world, little Alexander! So glad to hear the CS was so positive and it sounds like you're recovering well xx

Ninja You star - I love the picture, it's just cracked me up!

Good luck with the inductions Pink and Southern, I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly for you both.

Scarlotti What fantastic news! Congratulations I'm especially pleased by the intact perineum - I'm starting to have hope that this time mine will survive too!

Lissy Grr to the MW . You know, you should be careful with those crutches - they're tricky things and can often slip over for no reason when you lean them against things and hit, ooh, I don't know, an annoying MW's shin for example?? Just a thought (an evil one admittedly...)

Belgian Thanks for the news on Erika - huge congratulations and hugs to her

Eeyore and Tigger Hope this is it - and Tigger you've added to my theory that a baby will come if you've planned something that will be inconvenient to cancel. Hopefully this baby will start to come when I'm watching Joanna Lumley open the mall in town tomorrow...

That's really sweet, ChocOrange, hope the next year is as rewarding for you x

Comma Ooh, what a star the doc is - I'll keep my fat fingers crossed that everything goes well and we hear news of a healthy baby born naturally soon xx

Beepbeep Hope your DS gets better soon and you can get some much needed rest x

I've got some eggs boiling to satisfy my egg sarnie craving so I'll have to go in a sec but I just thought I'd mention that since having the sweep this afternoon, I've been very uncomfortable with lots of twinges. Can't call them contractions but something must be going on down there. I'm also freezing cold despite heating on max (DH will pass out when he walks through the door) and have just had a nose bleed, which I always get the day before my period starts... Either something's afoot or I'm just getting ridiculously desperate with my symptom spotting...

Laugs · 11/11/2009 15:54

Is it really only 10%? Because I was 2 weeks late last time I'm just expecting that to happen again, but it sounds like I should stop assuming that.

trikken you sound really fed up. Would it be worth getting a taxi to the hospital tonight? At ours they tell us not to drive in as parking is such a nightmare.

EasyEggs · 11/11/2009 16:00

Oh comma that is such good news I really hope you get to do it the way you want. Good luck

And good luck too you both as well Tigger & Eeyore Sounds like these babies aren't hanging around now, wooohooo!!!

misssese · 11/11/2009 16:12

Venus i think its because she is only at the GPs surgery once a week for half a day. I had hoped she would do a sweep today as im 4 days late now, she actually had to double book herself to see me today, i was the first one in! But i remember TOK saying it would be unlikely as the MW hadnt mentioned a sweep at my last appointment and they normally book you in for one.
The MW said it would be a doctor who will do it for me at the hospital antenatal clinic,I think depending on where you live ( in my area of london) you either see the MW at the hospital or the GPs and all of mine have been at the GPs bar one ( which got missed). Im glad its booked for monday at the hospital as id been worried that id have to wait till the wednesday with the MW and there not be any appointments left. ( you have to book weeks in advance to get an appointment as its so busy.) Hope that makes sense

maman2tom · 11/11/2009 16:15

Hi all just popping back in before next feed...Little Dan born Saturday 3,5kg and is doing really well

Had an induction saturday morning has his heart beat was sill not brillant. Induction + peridural at 12am, baby at 4pm after 2 pushes! Just wanted those facing an induction to know that it can go really well and it can be super positive(sorry if i'm not making much sense i keep wanting o write in french -blame i on those sleepless night)

Good luck everyone!!

Trikken · 11/11/2009 16:23

congrats Maman, glad baby dan is doing well, and hope you manage to find sometime to catch up on sleep, so you can enjoy little dan's first baby days.

lemontop · 11/11/2009 16:24

Wow! So many babies have arrived!!!! Congratulations everyone, hope you are enjoying your time with the little 'uns. Hope things start moving along soon for those who are waiting.

I got to my official due date last week so Isaac should actually be born now! He's 6 weeks old and now weighs 8lb but it's easy to forget he was premature and things are going to take him a bit longer. Colic has hit home big time but other than that things are good. It still hasn't quite sunk in yet that I'm actually a mother and I'm not going to have to give him back anytime soon!

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/11/2009 16:39

Trikken don't worry. There is no evidence that sweeps work anyway. My midwife said she wasn't sure they did anything.

VenusInfers · 11/11/2009 17:10

maman So good to hear from you, in any language! Congratulations on little Dan's birth!

Laugs that's what I've heard from a MW. Though of course "there are lies, damn lies and statistics", and it's bound to be rounded up or down..

Missese oh, that makes sense. My MW has a couple of clinics around here in the week, so sort of assumed you'd be in the same position. Clearly not. And totally understand not wanting to wait a whole week if you don't need to.

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/11/2009 17:10

Yeah more babies: congrats "Maman"
On the safe arrival of your little Dan
Safely with you and doing well
He sounds lovely, I can tell
I hope you can get some well-earned sleep
Those early memories you must keep

Phew! I am a literary genius!!!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/11/2009 17:10

I must be tired too, using " instead of * for bold text!

southernbelle77 · 11/11/2009 17:24

Wow! Congratulations Scarlotti, Erika and maman on your safe arrivals! So exciting!

Good news comma about baby turning and hopefully it won't be long before you meet your little one (hopefully with the emcs). Well done on updating while connected to a drip too

No news here : (

Had to go in to the hospital (took over an hour to get there) to be monitored in the hope that a bed would become available but clearly it didn't Have to go through the whole bloody thing again tomorrow when (please god) there will be a bed for me. All fine with baby. Heartbeat fine and clearly no contractions of any description coming naturally! Was hoping for a phone call today to go in but not had one now so clearly it's not happening! So, come on girls, fingers, toes and everything else crossed that tomorrow morning lots of people at East Surrey Hospital have had their babies and I can go and have mine!!

Sorry for not catching up further but just got up after being asleep!

southernbelle77 · 11/11/2009 17:26

that's obviously meant to say without the emcs! Sorry, tired tired tired!

VenusInfers · 11/11/2009 17:46

So sorry to hear that southern. Must be such a disapointment to have been all the way down to the hospital and have to come back again.
I'll have everything crossed for you tomorrow!

tigger32 · 11/11/2009 18:02

Hello, Congratulations to maman and welcome to Dan.

Lovely to hear from you lemontop and really pleased that Isaac is doing well.

southern Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Eyeore How are things with you?

Well things are still going on here, contractions now every 7 minutes, so slow progress but looking good
Had to give the school fair a miss my mum has gone in my place though and Dh has taken the boys.

hobnob57 · 11/11/2009 18:04

southern what a rollercoaster for you. FIngers crossed for imminent labour or free beds tomorrow.

comma what a turn up for the books! You have a clever (tricky) wee girl! Not long now....

maman congrats, and what a lovely induction

Had a gorgeous steak sandwich for lunch, and got DD some funky boots. Trying to summon the will to go to yoga. I'm with laugs in feeling like I need to sleep all day (and never getting the chance to). Still got loose bowels, feeling on the verge of nauseous and shattered all the time. Also emotional - almost cried when MIL put on 'bright eyes' in the car for DD. This is a novelty for me this pg. Again, when I get braxtons (less frequently today) they feel like they could really be doing something useful if LO was playing ball, but instead they are frustratingly painful in all the wrong paces. I think I'm saying I feel quite ready but baby is in the way! I hope yoga teacher/MW has some tips tonight.

Better get back to DD - I abandoned her not eating her tea before I got cross!

hobnob57 · 11/11/2009 18:07

I meant not - too tired for this lark tonight!

Fingers crossed for all you brave ladies labouring. I hope the reward is swift

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/11/2009 18:58

My prediction was waaaaaaay out

manan well done! congratulations on little Dan arriving! ANd well done erika finally you have your Bryn with you!

comma I really really hope your little girl does not flip again and you get the birth you really want, but as you said, you have done everything you possibly can and whatever happens will happen now. Good luck x

I have kept nothing down again today. AND I went to the Zoo in an attempt to get some movement going and to spend some family time with DD and DH my lunch has just sat there all day and just come up. What a waste of donuts!

Blimey, I forgot how scary Tigers are though I was by the enclosure and did not realise, then was face to face with a humungous tiger eyeballing me - scared the living out of me baby nearly dropped there and then!

good luck all you labouring ladies - sleepless, katster* and anyone else I might have missed, sorry i have lost my brain.

Trikken · 11/11/2009 19:34

Just got back from the hospital, went much better than I thought, she could feel my cervix, and that im 50% effaced, and very stretchy, 2cms dilated and have bulgy membranes so was very confident something is going to happen soon. definately felt like she's done something, but didnt hurt, just a little uncomfortable, but no more than a normal internal. so hears hoping!

helips · 11/11/2009 19:49

Congrats to erika and maman on the new arrivals, this is getting very exciting!

comma so pleased baby has turned and hopefully they will stay that way for the birth.

Tok I remember when I had my ds my db came over and asked me if they'd left one in there, referring to my still large tummy, bloody cheek!

Had the HV round today and she weighed dd, she has put on 8 oz in 10 days!!! the little piggy! HV was very impressed, must be all the cake and chocolate going into my milk!

misssese · 11/11/2009 20:04

trikken so pleased it went well and hopefully everything will be underway soon, maybe 2night!!!

katster37 · 11/11/2009 20:46

Yay, Trikken, that sounds v promising!!!

Pav tigers are v scary... Maybe I will go to the zoo tomorrow and try and scare things into action!

I am feeling so frustrated. After a night of definite action, then period pain/back ache/nausea all afternoon, I now feel FINE. Absolutely normal, not even a tweak. I know there are worse things in the world, but it is really getting to me!! Went for a brisk walk for an hour and a half, called at tesco for pineapple and have been on the birthing ball non-stop. Might have to attempt to have sex later on... Grrrrrr.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/11/2009 20:52

I can't find the pump to my two birthing balls , might have to get DH to pump it up by mouth action!!!! I really could do with it.

I am off to bed. Not feeling 100%.
