Congratulations to Scarlotti and Kyte, and Erika if you do indeed have news.
Things seem to be looking more promising at my end. I woke up at around 5am this morning with regular very mild BH-type contractions but they have stayed regular all the way up to now (5-10 mins-ish) and are getting a bit stronger now. I feel like it's been going on long enough that it would be surprising if it all stopped completely now, although I certainly don't expect to be holding a baby any time soon - they just don't hurt that much yet. Anyway, good luck to everyone else - hopefully one of us will have a baby sometime soon!

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/11/2009 13:09

Raggie there is an airport in Oxford! It is in Kidlington but not sure it accepts private jets from grandmothers-to-be though! And she'd have to get from Kidlington to your house

All these signs... there will be more babies soon!

Yippee!

sleeplessinthecity · 11/11/2009 13:21

scarlotti congrats!!! what a big boy and so pleased all is well and no tear...woo hoo

Was in hospital this morning and baby has an odd heartbeat so had to be monitored for ages and lots of ultrasounds to check what is going on. They don't seem too worried but have booked me in for an induction on Fri as this baby is over 9lb and given my tear last time they don't want to risk it..

Why can't i go into labour naturally???????

longwayaway · 11/11/2009 13:30

Laugs if you feel like sleeping, sleep! Could be your body getting ready, in its own way.

Sleepless I just realized that Friday is the 13th - hope you're not superstitious! Maybe they could move it back a day...

TOK · 11/11/2009 13:32

Sleep is good Laugs, means you'll be well rested when the time comes! I went through a phase like that a couple of weeks ago. I felt like a lazy bum becuase I wasn't actually doing anything to justify the tiredness, but I guess carrying an extra 2 stone(ish ) around does that to you!

Katster my in laws had their flights booked months ago as we all presumed the baby would have come by now so there's no getting out of it unfortunately!

Helips don't worry about the post pregnancy belly, I bf my ds and it took a while for mine to disappear too, the bf will definitely help though. When my sisters boyfriend came round to visit after ds was born he openly said to me "so I see you've still got the tummy then, ha ha". I was absolutely ! How rude!

Weston I had an attempt at a sweep last week and as long as you stay as relaxed as possible (easier said than done, I know) it's normally uncomfortable rather than painful. I tried to just focus on breathing through it and it wasn't too bad. Good luck, hope it gets things going for you!

skorpion · 11/11/2009 13:35

Fab-ieee!!! Well done erika

pavlov is this in line with your prediction as to the number of newbies?

Laugs · 11/11/2009 13:42

Thanks longway and TOK. I can't actually sleep as I have DD to look after, but I can go to bed as soon as DH gets home at 6ish, so not too long to go.

I think pavlov's newbie prediction is going to be way out! What was the wager again?? From this monday until next, we should have Scarlotti, Kyte, Erika, Southern, Comma, PinkMich, Sleepless, Trikken and Lissy (and did Wizzy decide about the induction?) and that's without all the sweeps and people in early labour already!

Oh, weston I had a sweep last time and it was pretty much like a smear. Not the nicest thing ever, but more uncomfortable than painful. I'd have it again if offered.

tigger32 · 11/11/2009 13:58

Huge Congratulations to Scarlotti and welcome to Ioan.
and erika thats great news congratulations to you too and welcome to Bryn.

So my period pains seemed to have turned into contractions, they are about every 10 mins and last between 20 and 50 seconds, so a long way to go yet, but hopefully its the start..... although I had planned to help at the school fair tonight

katster37 · 11/11/2009 14:11

Tigger and Eeyore , this is sounding promising!!

TOK how annoying... I hope you have a big house where they can be kept at a suitable distance!

I now just have back ache and feel sick.

ChocOrange05 · 11/11/2009 14:18

Hello all - I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK. I am part of the November 2008 club and my DS was born 1 year ago yesterday.

This past year has gone so quickly and has been a rollercoaster of emotions and bloody hard work, but it has also been overwhelmingly fantastic. You guys have so much joy about to enter your lives and I am a little jealous its not me!

Good luck to you all and enjoy your babies, they grow up so fast! xxx

eeyore2 · 11/11/2009 14:23

thanks Katster! Tigger, good luck to you today!
DH has just arrived home from work. He was a bit reluctant to come home and now I will be so embarrassed if it turns out to all be a false alarm. I think I am more worried about that than the actual childbirth thing!

Comma2 · 11/11/2009 14:23

Hello girls,

Congrats scarlotti ! Love the name!

I meanwhile have jumped the op table again as baby has flipped like a good girl and the doctor(who said all this flipping was a first for him after 30+ years) broke my water so she can't be as swimmy. Am now hooked up to the drip for induction and have pleasant little contractions. She might flip during labour and end up as emsec, but at least I had my chance.

hobnob sorry to hear you too. I know what you mean about its being painful when they are in the wrong position, it's just clearly not working that way, is it. Whether or not cord prolapse is a potential problem will depend on the exact position of baby; when lo first flipped into transverse her spine was under my ribs, high danger of prolapse. 2nd time, her spine was on the cx, blocking it, so no danger. If it feels all empty between belly button and pubic bone, I guess, that's when the cord can come out first. Either way, if your water breaks, call them right away.

helips have a piece of the cake and never mind the stupid woman in the shop. People will ask at 14 weeks when one finally pops. I am sure you look glorious.

Talking about film star birthing plans, did anybody see that Oliver Twist adaptation where they have an actual newborn in the beginning?? Can't remember anything about the movie but crying because the baby was crying which seemed very wrong.

Ugh TOK about your pil. My mil just left yesterday, the day before we needed her do watch dd which left us in a bit of a mess what to do with the poor thing. Then she called from the airport and said she felt bad and could come back the day I should be out of the hospital. Thanks, but no thanks. I just needed her to be there for dd when I was IN the hospital, otherwise glad to be rid.

What's the Gordon Brown joke then?

beepbeep · 11/11/2009 14:24

Congratulaions Erika - great news!

Having nightmare time here, DS (16m) has a horrendous cold and has done since sunday, off his food & yesterday his temp was sky high - it does seem to be lower today, but he is still really miserable. Being slefish this means he is not in nursery today, meaning I haven't had time for a much needed nap (he had me up 3 times in night), was really looking forward to a few hours on my own, but heyho! Not sure if he'll be well enough to go tomorrow (he only goes 2 days a wk), but if not will have to ask ILs to have him for couple of hours as have a consultant appt and I don't think they'd be too chuffed to have a whingey little one there!

Good luck tigger & Eeyore!!

beepbeep · 11/11/2009 14:27

And you comma - sorry xpost! Just imagining you hooked up in hospital, whilst updating MN!!

katster37 · 11/11/2009 14:29

Eeyore I feel like that too! Last night when I was sure it was all happening, I kept thinking 'what if DH stays off work and it all stops??!?!'

Comma YAY for baby turning right way around and good luck with the contractions!! Fantastic news!

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/11/2009 14:30

Hi ChocOrange so sweet of you to post! As you can see we're all just about to have babies

Eeyore, Tigger and Katster sounds like your babies are coming ready or not!!!

Don't get me started on PILs. After telling mine to keep away just in case they are infectious they are due here any minute. Sigh!

skorpion · 11/11/2009 14:32

chocorange what a lovely thing to pop in to say, thank you.

Things are hotting up! laugs you're right, I'm just losing track of all these babies everywhere!

longwayaway · 11/11/2009 14:35

Comma so excited for you! How clever of them to break your waters while the baby was in the right position - I've never heard of that before.

Hi ChocOrange, very nice of you to drop by

Can't keep up with all the baby action but it's very exciting to know that yes, babies do get born eventually! Keep up the good work ladies!

VenusInfers · 11/11/2009 14:42

Hurrah for Erika! Can't wait for all the lovely details.

Yay, Comma! Fingers x-d she stays PUT this time. Well, doesn't actually stay put, but you know what I mean. Stays in the right orientation. So pleased for you that the CS is looking a lot less likely.

And Tigger and Eeyore getting going too, what a busy couple of days we are having! No Pigglet out there to complete the set??

Getting very jealous of all these lovely babies now. My little lad doesn't seem remotely bothered about being 10 days late. Running out of things to do. Uploaded videos onto the computer, made Xmas gifts, even done some cleaning. Oh, and made lots of calls and written loads of e-mails explaining that no, I havent' forgotten to tell X about the birth, there just hasn't been one yet. Grump...

sleeplessinthecity · 11/11/2009 14:57

My mother is having a sulk..she is upset that baby is being induced on fri and she has to leave on monday..please god don't let me turn into a whingey old mum!!! i told her to stay longer but she says that she and DH don't really have much in common so she feels that she's in the way...not his fault she won't even talk to him..

sorry had to rant..but to be honest I'm massive, carrying a huge load, can hardly walk and don't need stress.

Sorry beepbeep for the lack of sleep..hope the lo gets better soon...not what you need right now.
Good luck tigger, eeyore and comma...well done for flipping girl

misssese · 11/11/2009 15:02

So happy for erika and everyone in labour, im also extra jealous! how many of us are over due now? just been to see my MW im booked in for a sweep on monday at the hospital ( i see MW at my GP) when she rang to book it for me they told her they couldn't fit me in next week but she demanded they see me!! was rather pleased and impressed with that!!
Forgotten who was talking about the movie star births but thats exactly what i want!!! my all time fav is Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind" she just looks so glam and beautiful.

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/11/2009 15:15

It is November. It is cold outside. DS2 and I are eating ice lollies (Fabs) from the Spar shop. I had a craving

VenusInfers · 11/11/2009 15:20

I make the list of overdue ladies to be as follows -

VenusInfers, TOK, Trikken, Fubble, Hobnob57, Tabbykat, misssese, Eeyore2, Sleepless, PootleTheFlump

There are more of us than I thought, though it sounds like one or two of the above won't be overdue much longer!

Missese why isn't your MW doing the sweep herself at the surgery? Quite surprised you have to go into hospital for it, where there's more chance of having to hang around.
