Congrats Bluey! Ah bless FIL... How did you know it was Tigress in the waiting room? Cool. Good job getting a seat on tube! I used to get given seats quite a lot on the tube in my last pg, there are still nice people out there...

Welcome Hedgehog, you sound like a busy person! I also will have 2 under 2's but only for a month. We'll be fiiine. (I hope )

Re my scan on Tuesday, it won't be a proper diagnostic scan, we couldn't get that, they don't take any responsibility for telling you about any anomalities, etc, it's supposed to be only for fun/bonding... We are doing it purely to find out the sex. A bit silly really but hey why not. 99 dollars...

DH's sister and 2 kids from Connecticut are descending upon us in a minute... they are staying here for 5 days. So I might not be on here as much... or maybe more, I might lock myself in the bedroom with the laptop for peace and quiet!

nite nite

Hey Bluey 2 boys to follow each other and didn't we have the grumpiest sonographer in the world!!!!??!

Anna we had worked out from posts on here that we were going to the same place 20 minutes apart for scans so arranged to say hello. As a result we sat at opposite ends of the waiting room not realising each other was there and then grabbed 2 seconds chatting before I was called in.

On the MRSA thing, I wasn't swabbed, I think they forgot and also I didn't get a picture not sure why. I am back there in a week for another scan though to make sure the face is alright as although we saw the willy we didn't see the face

hecklephone · 23/10/2009 10:50

manda how are you coping with the cranberry juice? Hope you're feeling back to normal soon. And bonus points to you for scoring both a toyboy and a high sex drive...you're not Samantha from Sex and the City are you?? This relationship certainly sounds a million miles away from the one with your ex-DH...and I don't blame you for not wanting to wait around - if something's good just get on with it - life's too short, eh?

tigress and bluey congrats on good scans and for bringing up the boy count!

anna how lovely to get an extra scan while you're in the States - hope you get what you're hoping for! (whatever that is...?) And good luck with the family visit!

hedgehog welcome! All the best for today's scan.

Caitni · 23/10/2009 11:57

Morning ladies

Welcome to Hedgehog

And congrats on all the other good scan news. Good luck with your extra one in America annamamma! And how lovely that Tigress and Bluey got to meet (albeit briefly).

I'm still worried about the potential kidney problems our scan showed. My husband is sick of me worrying about it, since nothing we can do but wait, but it's hard to switch it off .

Still, on a plus side my Active Birth book arrived (god, it looks amazing! Rebecca, are you also a Janet Balaskas fan? Can't remember who else it was on here who liked her...) and my natal hypnotherapy CD - the joys of ebay! Am sure they'll keep me busy for a while .

MandaHugNKill · 23/10/2009 13:42

Afternoon!

Well, am still hating the cranberry juice... it never tasted anything like this when it was in the cosmopolitians I used to drink. Uh-oh, maybe I've just added credence to Heckle's musings about whether I'm Samantha from SatC!

bluey & tigress congrats on your little men - boys had started to lag behind so well done for balancing it out a bit more again. And nice to have seen each other, albeit briefly. Oh, and bluey for you to be decolonised sounds more like they're gonna spirit you away to a remote island somewhere so you're not likely to infect anyone else to me As a follow on from your getting a seat on the tube (Hurrah!), I genuinely had this conversation at the checkout in waitrose yesterday:

Check-out Man: Would you like a bag or do you have your own?

Me: I need two actually, please. I'm on foot so need to balance myself out.

CoM: So you'll be a well balanced woman when you leave here ( he clearly doesn't know me...)

Me: Ha. Well, probably not, but I'm just worried about my back.

CoM: Ah, yes, I used to be a masseur and I see you have the number one problem cause of 'bad back' points to my general torso area

Welcome, Hedgehog! Manda, I know what you mean - I think that DD would rather like to go with her friends without knowing that she's going to be surrounded by a lot of drunk children! DD has also drunk with us (pimms/champagne etc - the pimms is so weak though, that it's like flavoured lemonade), but I know that she won't even get tipsy on what I give her.
Well done, by the way, for making the talk roundup - I'm not there yet!
I had my scan this morning, and all is fine, apparently - the twins are both in a good place, and although they are sharing a placenta, they're getting equal amounts of everything!
Half term next week - it's my last day of freedom today before the noise starts!
Caitni, I definitely wouldn't worry until you definitely know there's a problem - after all, worrying doesn't help you or the baby, and the chances are that everything will be fine!

Angouleme · 23/10/2009 15:42

Hello everyone tried to post last night but like the pregnancy it's my first time. Enjoying reading everyone's posts. I'm living in France and it's making me miss the uk but hralthcare seems pretty good here, although the midwife did tell me not to eat more than 2 fruit a day!

siamesecatwoman · 23/10/2009 18:19

hi to Hedgehog and Angouleme! Did she give you a reason for only 2 portions a day? it seems odd..
Speaking of odd, my MIL was shocked when i told her i was hanging out the washing - apparently she was told when she was having DH never to raise her arms in pregnancy...

went to the nurse today to see about the poss UTI and i was right, she was a bit surprised Id not come in the week and a half Id been suffering - but then I just assumed it was normal-ish to want to pee all the time.. and i'd assumed that the night sweats and occasional day sweats (much more than 'glows' im afraid..) were also normal, but it seems I have a highish temp too. I think the lack of knowing Im ill all stems from having both parents as GP's - your leg had to be falling off before you got any attention!
So am on the anti-b's, washed down with cranberry.

Manda your supermarket story made me lol!

ohwow · 23/10/2009 18:30

Hello everyone, do you mind if I join your group?

I used to look at threads during my early weeks but not been looking for ages.

This is my second, I'm due on 15th March 2010. we've already got a DD who is 2 and a half (quite a handful too!). I've just had my scan on Wednesday which revealed its a BOY - there was no denying that when the sonographer zoomed in on his bits .

Congrats to others who have had positive scans too. Hope you are all feeling well.

xx

Angouleme · 23/10/2009 20:05

Cos of gEstational diabetes and the sugar content of fruit. can't say I've really followed her advice, when I feel snackish I try to eat fruit rather than chocolate. I'm due 13/03 bty. Find out next week whether d or s. Can't wait!

PacificWerewolfwoohood · 23/10/2009 21:32

Hello, Angouleme, nonono, you must have your 5-a-day , DS1 is totally obsessed by this concept, on one of his competitive days he goes for 10-a-day - with predictable consequences...

And hello to ohwow: yeah, another boy! For a while it looked like girls were taking over !

I am v glad it's Friday although I have bringing breakfast to our fortnightly kid's club meeding to look forward to, MIL will come tomorrow and stay overnight and I must get on with my tax return, grrr! MIL talks a lot at people, but does not listen, ever, and does not need a partner in conversation. DH regularly puts the phone on the table when she calls, goes and makes a cup of tea, comes back and she is still twittering about the same/similar subject. She is also a walking DM column and I find it at times v hard to hold my tongue . Anyhoo, this too shall pass, she has not seen the boys in ages, she is almost 81, and all that. Sigh...

I am still on antibiotics, urine has lovely Penicillin smell to it (sorry, TMI), but ear is no longer sore, just dull. Haematologist advised to have bloods checked again in 2 weeks. And my hearing kind of comes and goes, but DH will tell you it's been like that for years, the cheek!!

Have a nice weekend, everyone!

ahedgehogisdueinMarch · 24/10/2009 12:50

Afternoon all,

Can't believe that noone has posted this morning.

I have already worked (9-12) but all the extra money will come in handy and have DS asleep on the sofa, DH asleep upstairs (he worked last night) and have washed nappies (I am a clothie)

Scan was a sucess - Bump has very long legs, but I am 6' so not really very surprising. But didn't want to know what it is so another surprise for me.

Think i have started nesting as I have this overwhelming urge to start ebaying anything which hasn't been used for more than 10 minutes (although I think this is actually so I can justify buying the Phil and Teds brand new rather than having to go for second hand)

Hopefully will be back soon but need to really wake DS as he is getting over an infected finger and really needed to take his anitbiotics about an hour ago!!

mumbot · 24/10/2009 18:21

Extra hour in bed tonight - yay (although DS will make an appearance at 5am)

Welcome ohwow and congrats on your boy news x

MandaHugNKill · 24/10/2009 18:50

Quick fly-by... going out to dinner in a little while (gonna order the fillet steak at this tapa/spanish restaurant we like. I'm nearly drooling thinking about it as I type this!)

Welcome ohwow and congrats on a good scan/boy result

Iwonka · 24/10/2009 19:31

Hello!

Haven't been on for a couple of days. Hope everyone is doing great. I am leaving to Poland tomorrow morning, will catch up on all the posts/updates when I get back!

Good luck with the scans, those of you who haven't had one yet!!!

PacificWerewolfwoohood · 24/10/2009 21:20

Marking my spot...

Is it very rude to be MNing ranther than being talked at talking to MIL ?? Well, I know it is, but she is ingrossed in Casualty at the mo, so that must make it ok...

DS1 digital alarm clock at his bedside has been set back tonight and he was allowed an extra hour up in the hope that he will NOT get up a 5am tomorrow.
Hope you all get to enjoy the extra hour.

TheMummyonElkStreet · 24/10/2009 21:23

hello all!!!
Phew it takes a while to catch up on you lot!! (it's also an X factor/Strictly catch up too - takes even LONGER!!)

Right. Scillies were AMAZING omigod i loved them had such a lovely time, even with mum/family friends wittering on/political angst, DD was also super cute and loved it all [need an overwhelmed teenage emoticon here]. bluey i wish I'd seen your post, yes we stayed on Tresco and I also sat halfway in the jacuzzi and enjoyed it, HOWEVER i did feel VERY odd on the walk home. I must ask - where did you stay? we were nr island hotel at watchtower, v nice.
[sorry for v 'in' post]!! Anyway you should all go at some point, it's a lovely place.

So nice to catch up on all the scans etc, mine is next Friday and can't wait! We aren't finding out sex but it's getting v hard to resist seeing all your results!

I can't say much more because I've forgotten all the other things I was going to put but anyway - you all sound pretty well, UTIs/general pgness aside (god i haven't missed anything massive have i?! )
will come up with something witty later.
love to all anyway

TMD · 25/10/2009 07:03

scooby26 · 25/10/2009 10:06

Hi all

Just a quick log in before I start my many jobs!!

Welcome to newbies!!!

Congrats to those with new scan results and good luck to those with scans coming up next week!!

Siamese- In older days it was an old wives tale that if you raised your arms you risked raising the umbilical cord and thus around the baby's neck (??!!) It's amazing what people used to be told!!

First job is to empty the spare room and then work out how much paint we need. then off to B & Q !!

Hope you all have a restful day xx

TheMummyonElkStreet · 25/10/2009 19:22

anyone skimmed the SW vaccine thread? i got to page 4 and felt a bit too confused addled to continue....
I'm not suggesting we take on the debate, just wondering what the general consensus of it was in the end? i'm thinking it didn't get anywhere but many people had many differing theories/opinions??
Bump is going quite hard now, it's past that flabbby/fat stage i think, moving into a proper pg bump methinks?! Hw i did eat a LOT of carbs in the scillies, could just be obesity kicking in....
all ok elsewhere with people?

PacificWerewolfwoohood · 25/10/2009 21:09

Evening, all,
:
I feel crap, ear no longer sore, still dull, now have tinnitus, kind of whooshing noise in time with my pulse, IYKWIM. Tonight is last antibiotic. I've been nauseated again all afternoon and had to cook a Sunday roast dinner for MIL who had been staying overnight. DH had been swimming with older boys this morning, then off for a test drive...in a Porsche Convertible , that well-known family friendly, sensible car . Anyway, none of that would have really bothered my much, but he left me with his mum!! All afternoon!!. Well, eventually I felt bad enough to justify going to bed for an hour, I slept like a log, but woke up feeling just the same. I really hope this does not last...

Anyhoo, I shall get over myself now : MummyElk, do you mean te Swine Flu vaccine? Truth is that nobody really ultimately knows what to recommend with certaintly. As far as I can tell, it all comes down to risk assessment and what you are more comfortable with. I asked my consultant last week during scan, and he said quite honestly he does not know what to recommend either and kind of goes with the official line that pregnant women should have it. He added that the 2 recent deaths of young Scottish pregnant women, one of whom did not have underlying health problems, had worried him.
Personally, after some humming and hawing, I have decied I will have it, but admittedly I have the added risk factor of being a grass roots HCP and everybody and their brother comes specifically to cough in my face !! I will also have DSs vaccinated: DS3 is under 2, DS2 has asthma, and it makes no sense at all to vaccinate 2 and not the third.
So, that is my tuppence worth.

And yes, bump is now a definite bump. I love how firm it is, always makes me think "hm, this is what my tummy could feel like if I lost weight and exercised.." Never leads to any action though, too lazy, me...

Impressed at scooby's energy for DIY. Hope you had a successful day!

scarysarahandco · 26/10/2009 08:09

hi everyone, been busy decorating here all weekend, Ds is now settled into his new room, and keps asking when his baby brother will join him!!!! i just keep saying after santa has been adn you have had your birthday!!!LOL it looks lovely in there i must say!

i am tired though so having a quiet day today !!!

hope everyone is ok, get well soon pacific, sounds awful x

TMD · 26/10/2009 09:20

Hi
Swine flu jab, I'm not convinced. Never had the flu jab, had flu and was ok. Not happy that they are just dishing it out like sweets. To me not enough research gone into it in such a short space of time. Worried it could harm un born baby and know of friends that had it and made them quite ill???????

Any way each to their own i suppose. If it was just me and baby was born might be different.

Got scan this pm so catch up soon.

xxx

mumbot · 26/10/2009 09:23

Good luck for scan today TMD

Am sooo tired after 5am start with toddler who doesn't understand 'daylight savings' and 'mummy needs 5 more minutes'

GhostlyPixieOnaPumpkin · 26/10/2009 10:13

Good luck TMD! I love scan days, after I've got over the nerves!
I think I'm going to have the SF jab - DD2 and DS will have it because of their asthma (actually, I don't know whether to pay for DD1 to have her's privately - it seems a bit unfair that they get vaccinated and she doesn't - what do people think?). My consultant said that he is going with the official line, but there is such a lack of information regarding it, that I don't really know what to do for the best!
ScarySarah, that's really sweet! Mine are getting really excited about the babies, particularly now that I've got the firm bump thing going on as well (it makes me feel properly pregnant - I think I've felt as though I'm pretending until now!). . .
Scillies sound fab, MummyOnElkStreet - we were aiming to go this summer for a week of so, but whether we get there now is debatable.
Pacific, I sounds like a nasty virus you've got, I would go to the GP's just to be on the safe side, particularly if you're coming down with SF!
We went to see my friend's daughter's baby yesterday (daughter is 28), and he is absolutely adorable. I actually wanted to bring him home with me! It's made me want to meet mine so much more, and I've had that broody feeling all night - it's wierd, because obviously I've met babies since I had my three, and I've never felt like that before - it must be the hormones !
