Here it is!

Kyte shocked that you could be denied immediate skin to skin after a caesarian! You will have to put it in bold type capitals on your birth plan. They can lay a blanket over the baby's back can't they?
Some mw are just a brill but some seem to be a bit 'computer says no' as far as I can tell. Suppose you find very rigid/unempathetic people in all walks of life though...

ERika relief about that company.

Books- just finished Small Island ahead of the TV series and really liked it. Starting 'Half A Yellow Sun' next has anyone read it?

My bump feels soooooo tight, like it has a corset around it!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 17:56

erica YEY, good for your DH. Still send the letters though, as it will be formal evidence in case they do continue to hassle you. I promise I will do them asap, but as you might tell, old builder being a pain. Ergain

Shame you are not allowed to record phone calls without notice, would be good to have them admit they acted illegally

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 17:56

I meant DF !!!!

Tamlin · 07/10/2009 18:02

Forgot to say earlier - I really like the name Lukas, congrats Broodzilla!

Fruitpastels · 07/10/2009 18:24

Sorry I forgot to welcome the newbies

claired21 · 07/10/2009 18:27

Have to laugh... Imagine someone else reading our thread who doesn't appreciate the effect of pregnancy hormones!! Is that 3 in tears today about the thought of Christmas or The Muppets Christmas Carol?!

Asked midwife today about swine flu vaccination. They have had no news yet about it, which suggests it won't be available mid-October at all. Not in Glasgow anyway. Decided to wait and see if it's offered to me while still pregnant and worry about it then as at the rate we're popping, my baby will arrive before the vaccine is ready!

Home from work, knackered and full of the cold. DP has the cheek to be dozing on the sofa. So tempting to give him a rude awakening... Will try to be nice & leave him to nap for half an hour.

tigger32 · 07/10/2009 19:11

Evening all

Welcome stormfly

I feel like rubbish again today, so so tired and I ache all over.

erika Good news about the photo company, fingers crossed it will all be sorted soon.

Thanks everyone for all the bag information, I don't feel so bad having 2 bags now, I have one for labour and one for overnight. Who was it that told to 9 towels??? I have packed a dark large and hand towel into each bag for me, none for the baby as I'll bath him/her when I get home. (hospital can use there own for initial cleaning/wrapping)

kyte Glad you were able to talk to the midwife about your birth plan, definitely insist on skin to skin, like someone else said they can cover the baby's back to keep him/her warm.

pav what cheek your builder has so glad you are in the best position to deal with him and show him what for!

All this talk of Christmas is making me very excited I'm actually doing quite well on the prepartion front and have even sorted all birthday cards/presents until end of the year! Must start looking for cheesy christmas songs cd

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 19:20

Anyone else having period type pains? Feeling very achey down below. Don't think baby is imminent though as he is rather active still, and they tend to stop moving around much when they prepare for descent don't they? , also still feeling rather breathless after walking for more than say, a minute so obviously still up top!

lemontop any news on when you can bring Isaac home?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 19:21

tigger meant to say sorry you are feeling so rubbish today. I hope some rest will help, are you able to just crash this evening?

skorpion · 07/10/2009 19:22

pavlov ooh, I would not want to be in that pillock's shoes - would be fun to be a fly on the wall in the courtroom, though.

ninja don't know about scorpio thing... but wook I assure you there's nothing scary about being a scorpio. Well, not for the scorpio, anyway... [evil laugh]

claire that's pregnancy hormones and the belly dancing around the room to virtually assist in labour! Good suggestion, laugs. But honestly, our bunch must be the most talkative on here. Do we get an award? And can it be made out of cake?

erika that's good news about the evil company, enjoy your meal out.

skorpion · 07/10/2009 19:25

That's better pavlov - movement means labour is far far away... Plenty of movement here. I've been getting period like twinges, really dull, and sometimes a sharp poke in the cervix I think.

Can I ask a stoopid question? What do BH feel like? Presumably I would know if I had them? Is it pain or something else?

LissyGlitter · 07/10/2009 19:27

There is something odd going on with my joints-any sudden movement and I get loud clicks and stabs of pain. Also if I try and walk normally I am in agony. We went for our hospital tour today and I steeped aside for a doctor and ended up in a wheelchair! So embarrassing! I thought I had just strained my legs somehow, but beginning to think it is my joints loosening for the birth.

My hospital STILL don't have my notes from DDs birth, which is annoying, as they keep insisting I should have a VBAC when I know I can't as I had a weird section with DD. I asked about it today and they said to mention it at my 36 week consultant appointment, which is worrying as DD arrived at 36 weeks!

I just don't want to be arguing for a section whilst in labour.

Fruitpastels · 07/10/2009 19:27

OK I'm trying to work out if the baby has decided to turn head down (without me realising!) The baby was hiccuping earlier and it felt very low down. If I sit upright with my legs apart, my bump rests on the tops of my legs, like most of us I'm sure. I can almost feel the hiccups going through my leg - make sense?! I think I'm looking out for any sign at the moment - the scan will tell me tomorrow!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 19:27

skorpion thing is - i actually love going to court. Of course would prefer it not personal, but professional but I can put my professional hat on, with a little emotion attached. Being in court is like acting, i put on my court hat. I am going to rip his case apart and sting him for every Tiny Weeny Penny I can get from him. And when he cannot pay, I will send the bailiffs around. I would not have done that before now, out of common decency, but he has none. Otherwise he would not be taking us to court for a fictional amount weeks before I am about to have a baby.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 19:32

skorpion x-posted - BH are like tightenings in your belly, varies from person to person a little, but its where your belly will go rock solid for a while, like all the muscles around your belly will tense, can be uncomfortable, but not always. Can last from a couple of seconds to a few minutes, can be mild, or can almost wind you and make you stop what you are doing. When I get themm tends to be just after baby has had a fidgit and can occasionally make me go .

I get the sharp pain in the cervix too, think he is using it as a trampoline to turn himself back round the right way occasionally, also get a pain externally at the same time, makes me fear he is bursting his way out

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 07/10/2009 19:34

lissy ooooh you poor thing! Did the Dr pick you up and put you in the wheelchair? Was he handsome? got to have some perks with this pg malarky, but horrible that you are suffering.

skorpion · 07/10/2009 19:39

Well, I suppose in any other circumstances - not expecting a baby within weeks - you could actually say it's not bad news at all that he's taking you to court. It will provide some much needed release since you can't actually do much to him outside the court. It is a shame that it's not purely a professional defence of a vulnerable third person but it will be satisfying to show him that you can easily stand up to him. Hopefully it will make him think twice in the future...

It always makes me angry when I see people who are supposed to be professional trying it on. For one person that stands up to them, how many do they con beforehand?

LissyGlitter · 07/10/2009 19:42

pav unfortunately not. I cried out in pain and grabbed the handrail, the doctor looked confused and ran off to some emergency, and next thing I know a midwife was chucking me in a wheelchair and asking if I needed a delivery room. As soon as I explained it was just my legs, they just told DP to push me around a bit!

Thing is, earlier in the tour they had been concerned when i went dizzy and staggered forward for no good reason, so I think the other people on the tour probably thought I was putting it on!

lemontop · 07/10/2009 19:45

Broodzilla congratulations! Hope you're not in hospital too long. Come back and join me and we can compare birth stories. I'm so jealous of your short dilation time!!!

We brought Isaac home today after a week in special care. It's such a relief to have him home and not have to go back to the hospital. I will post some pics tomorrow when I can get on the other laptop where the photos are saved. We 'roomed in' with him last night to get an idea of how he feeds through the night. He was awake every 2/3 hours with explosive poo at 3am(nobody warned me about newborn poo coming out like a rocket!!). He's already peed all over his dad and is now awake when he shouldn't be so I better go and see to him.

Oh by the way re hospital bags-not to take 5 nighties and 2 pairs of pjs. I still don't know what I was thinking! Take stuff to do during labour just in case it's a long one and you can't leave. I was hooked up to monitors etc and needed a distraction.

Oh and I never knew that while you breastfed with one boob the other one would leak! It's all a steep learning curve!

skorpion · 07/10/2009 19:50

pavlov thanks again - don't think I've had that yet then. My tummy does sometimes go tight, but it feels more like I've swallowed a basketball. Makes me a bit anxious that she's still got some growing to do, but there's no more room!
Yep, trampoline cervix here, too. Sometimes it feels like she's going to shoot out Superman style

Poor you, lissy. So hang on, the doctor sees a pregnant woman stagger in pain and runs off in panic... Maybe he's a newbie.
My yoga teacher did say that the body releases hormones to loosen things up for the birth but I didn't realise that it could affect your ability to walk. Sorry to hear that.

skorpion · 07/10/2009 19:54

lemontop thanks for the update! Wow, must be a brilliant feeling to be home with Isaac.
Good tips, too, keep'em coming.
I'm all 'aaahh' now... What was it about pg hormones..?

Trikken · 07/10/2009 20:33

lemontop glad your both safe, well and home. cant wait to see the pics!

lemontop · 07/10/2009 21:11

Have put a couple of pics up of the little fella. One week old today!

claired21 · 07/10/2009 21:20

Awwww lemontop he's a wee beauty (as us scots would say)! It's amazing to see the first actual baby from our thread. Glad the family are together at home now x

wook · 07/10/2009 21:43

Oh Lemontop he is fab, looks so wise!
Lucky you, home with baby

Thanks for the reminder of boob leak, I had totally forgotten that that happened. Now you have reminded me of that I have also remembered that milk can just SHOOT out of the breast in giant squirts like a hosepipe that has gone out of control. Happened at breastfeeding support group with ds, he unlatched and milk sprayed around the entire room

Lissy pain sounds horrid.

pavlov I would hate to be in that builder's shoes! What was he thinking trying to take on a pregnant woman?
