Congratulations to Ohmani, Ruby, Wibblydibs, Treats, JamesDavidsMum, Neon, Willmouse, lixanismapolium and BellaCullen - wow, all those birth announcements since Friday night!

HC, how is Matthew sleeping at night now? Thanks for letting us know that you can get Lansinoh on prescription; I know a tube lasts for ages, but I still got through several tubes during the 19 months I fed dd, so I'll definitely try and get some on prescription this time!
HT and Sugarkane, I hope the sweep has the desired effect and you get your babies soon (if they're not already here!)
LMB, I'm hoping for a fast feeder this time; feeds took forever with dd but I won't have the same amount of time to sit around feeding this time round!
Ooh, smallone and kkkaty - good luck!
Andrea75, how are you and dd now? I hope you're feeling much better.
Hi dizzytrout -I'm due on the 21st too
Idreamofbeanie and Sammysam, I hope you don't have to wait too much longer and you get your home births.
JDsMum - how is DS1 sleeping now? I remember he was ill and also not sleeping? We had trouble with dd not sleeping last month, she seemed to be scared (of monsters, dark etc) all of a sudden, but she's back to normal again now. I was worried that the house move would unsettle her more, but she's been great so far (touch wood!).
Saraheb - good news about your pelvis, is it still feeling good?
Good luck littlepea, you should have your baby now!
Ruby, good luck in choosing a name for your dd!
Princessmel - sorry to hear the people at school are making you feel down. Hopefully you won't have to wait til your due date before your baby arrives. I'm still more than happy to wait, as the house still isn't quite unpacked, the box room still needs decorating (I'm planning on putting dd in there before baby comes!), I've not packed my hospital bag, baby clothes are still in storage (although we have a few washed and ready) and I need a moses basket mattress!

There, I think I've caught up again now, I must post more often to make it easier to keep up with you all!

Mossop · 07/10/2009 17:04

Oh no Fidelma, you must be exhausted having a new baby and a family with swine flu. I hope baby Connor stays healthy. Good luck with the breast feeding.

HumphreysCorner · 07/10/2009 17:14

Congratulations Bella and that was a quick delivery.

Calypso-great words of wisdom.

Lanisoh cream is the wonderful cream I picked up on presciption yesterday. Don't buy it as you can get it free from the Drs.

Treats-how are you today?

Last night I did the other suggestion that the MW came up with and that was to push the end of the crib mattress in the top I had been wearing so Matthew could lay on it. So with that and the hot water bottle warming the mattress meant he settled much better. The HV has left a message as she wants to visit and I haven't been discharged from the MW.

Anyway, must go and get some tea ready. Well, when Matthew has finished feeding.

Big wave!

Hi all.

Poor ds2 after having his head glued today he just trapped his finger in a door and we nearly had another trip to casualty!

fidelma I really hope you feel better soon.

The ssshhhing noise is meant to sound like the noises from inside the womb so comforting for the baby.

treats we are here to listen.

princessmel Im a freakshow too, even my mw asked if Im usually this huge!

saraheb · 07/10/2009 21:17

Oh fidelma I hope you all feel better soon.

thanks mossop still ok so far - only a little 'normal' pregnancy pain at the mo.

HappyTangerine · 07/10/2009 21:45

HT's husband here. HT, my beautiful and extraordinaire wife gave birth to a beautiful 8 pound baby boy called Joseph Richard on 5 October 2009 at 4:51. Mother and baby are well.

Labour was slow to start with and kicked in in the wee hours. Natal hypnotherapy worked a dream and midwives were very impressed with the way my wife coped. Unfortunately baby's head was not quite in the right position and an epidural and forseps were required.

HumphreysCorner · 07/10/2009 22:03

Oh what lovely news-congratulations to HT and family.

peaches-am stil in denial about being 40 tomorrow. Have a great Birthday!

devilsadvocaat · 07/10/2009 22:06

CONGRATS HT and HT's dh! lovely name
thanks for the update!

treats - how are you feeling today?

charlie still sleeping well, some people have said it's because he was 2 weeks early so am wondering whether he'll start be less easy to settle as we come up to his due date. i hope not...

feeling tired now so am off to bed. i'd like to stay on this thread too, am hoping all the talk of newborns will help some of the 'still preggers' lot to pop.

HumphreysCorner · 07/10/2009 23:15

Can't believe I was in labour this time last week. Where does the time go?

Night ladies.

So, think it might be all kicking off here, severe back/crampy pain not relieved by paracetamol, walking or changing position.

Due date tommorrow (well now today!), now show or any other signs yet - apart from bad heartburn and nausea, so we shall see what the day brings.

any one else awake?

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/10/2009 08:02

Hi Jules, (if you're still about ), I was a couple of hours behind you, awake between 3 and 5 again. No contractions since yesterday afternoon, just a back ache in my lower back. Hope it all happens for you today.

Congratulations Happy Tangerine! Look forward to hearing a full birth story, if that's OK?

There's not many of us left from the beginning of the month to pop, according to the list - in fact, I might have a little play with the list, if no-one minds...

I've got a midwife appointment this afternoon so we'll see what she has to say, probably not much of any use, and I don't mean that in a mean way - just that there's nothing really to be done is there - except wait.

Postie has been this morning with a couple more of my internet shopping goodies, a peppa pig canvas print for DS bedroom and a Samsonite pop up travel cot for the LO when it arrives. I've unpacked both and I'm eyeing up the travel cot and wondering whether it will stand up to an iron...clearly late nesting stages! When I was awake in the early hours (hungry again! this baby is going to be enormous!) I emptied the tumble drier and folded all the clothes up, filled it up again from the 'queue' and emptied the washing machine - DH finally got the baby car seat down from the attic yesterday and I washed all the covers, they are now strewn around various radiators drying off. I swear, if DH got on and did the last jobs I want him to do, the baby would arrive!

Finding it really hard to keep up with all the posts, so sorry for missing people out. HC, hope you're all coping well, like your positive attitude about getting the immunity without too much poorliness and hope it stays that way for you all.

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 08/10/2009 08:14

Congratulations to all those who have their babies

I'm feeling like it is going to fall out through my skin through sheer weight . I don't recall this feeling of "my skin can't take any more" with the other two. I want a giant sling to hold it up.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HC and Peaches! I hope you both have a great day.

Congratulations HT, I hope you're feeling ok after the birth and are home soon.
Good luck jules, if it happens for you today. And you too Sparkly, it must be really frustrating to have contractions stop and start!

I've got quite a busy day today; had a quiet week so far as dd is full of cold and the weather's been rubbish, so looking forward to getting out of the house.

saraheb · 08/10/2009 08:45

happy birthday HT and Peaches - wishing you a great day!

I'm due today but no signs yet - DH is on tenderhooks at the moment expecting me to 'pop' anytime. He went off to work instructing me to ring him if anything happens - like I wouldn't?

Know what you mean flame. My dd measured my 'waist' this morning - 4ft arghhh huge (123cm for you modern people who like metric). The measure came up to my dd's shoulders in height - she just couldn't stop giggling as she went off to school. I told her to tell her pregnant teacher so that she could be horrified on my behalf. Not sure I can get any bigger! - we had a go at measuring the fundal length too and it came out as 50 - that can't be right, I'm sure. (eek if it is)

kowaikiwi · 08/10/2009 08:48

Congrats to HT and happy birthday to those for today too. October is a busy month!
twinkletoes I have the same worries about having a huge baby given how hungry I am and how much I eat! I'm sure we are worrying for nothing. Plus my friend who is tiny (but has a rather large husband!) had her 10 pound boy just with G&A in the birthing pool so we will be fine.
I feel bad getting so impatient already but I'm sick of all the aches & pains (and the real ones haven't even started yet!). I hope everyone who is left is doing ok.

Treats · 08/10/2009 08:51

hi ladies - thanks for all your messages of support. It's really good to know that we're not alone.

had another appalling night with Isabel last night - screaming and crying as though we were torturing her. We've tried everything to settle her but nothing works. I phoned the emergency midwife in desparation who couldn't suggest anything further and says that I should speak to my midwife about it. Well I would - but I've been waiting in for three days for my midwife visit and haven't received any notification of when htey're coming! I'm supposed to be going to my mums today and am in a dilemma about whether to go and risk missing the visit, or to not go to my mums and wait in for another potentially wasted day.

But she's a different child during the day. She's been sitting calmly in her bouncy chair for the last half hour while i got some breakfast and caught up with the chat. I'm falling in love with her all over again.....

I heart Lansinoh also - a friend told me about it before i gave birth. It's expensive but she told me she was still using hte first tube she bought and she's now breastfeeding her second!!

Calypso - I did get your text - thank you! Sorry I haven't replied yet - I've had so many messages and it got a bit overwhelming, so I decided to leave all the replies for a bit - but i would love to meet up again. It does sound as if we're going through similar experiences. Annalise is such a pretty name btw!! Will text you today.......

Good luck all the mums-still-to-be! Hope some of you get some news today!

NewbeeMummy · 08/10/2009 08:53

Congrats HT and family - what fantastic news and a great name.

Many Happies for HC and Peaches

Fingers crossed for Jules hope this is it for you.

Feeling really frustrated just waiting for baby to arrive, she's moving like mad, and I seem to get cramps every night, but by morning they've all stopped, know I'm only actually due on the 21st, but I so want her to arrive. DP keeps asking where his little girl is, think he's just as impaitent as I am now

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/10/2009 09:14

sorry I missed that it was HC and Peaches birthdays...hope you have a lovely day.

Am wondering how to pass the time without just looking at my tummy and wondering when LO will arrive

(40+2 today)

Andrea75 · 08/10/2009 09:15

I've just added myself to the list...thought things were starting last night but went back to sleep with paracetamol and I woke up as normal for breakfast. DD's waters broke day before due date in Pizza Express 2 years ago, so maybe I will book a table for tomorrow night!! Didn't even get a free pizza though so maybe not such a great location!

We are all healthy pretty much now, so ready to go...

Congratulations HT

Hope for more baby news soon!

oops - just realised I said happy birthday to HT and not HC - so sorry

saraheb · 08/10/2009 09:27

treats can you ring your midwife to see if they are coming today. It doesn't seem right that you miss seeing your mum - you probably really need to see her IYKWIM - I would after the nights you have been having. I'm so pleased that she is so delightful during the day but it must make the nights seem oh so awful.

My DD used to scream when we put her down until we worked out that she just wanted to lay on her tummy and not on her back or sides. Then she was perfectly happy. She has been like it ever since and still sleeps on the tummy (so do I come to that - except during my pregnancy). I'm sure it will work out but would be good for you to talk to your actual midwife. hope you get help soon.

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 08/10/2009 09:28

Treats - where I have only been sticking my nose in occasionally, I have missed this Both of mine were born with something out of alignment at the top of their spine (not sure if it is how I carry them or a wonky birth canal or something), they couldn't feed properly on one side, if you laid them on their back they would turn their head to one side each time, and they were just plain miserable - mainly at night.

DD I took to a chiropractor at about 6 weeks, DS went at 7 days old... it was amazing. They just did some gentle rubbing and the problem was gone. Had about 8 sessions (twice weekly), so gentle that the baby can actually sleep through them.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

I had been half anticipating the problem with DS (actually called during pregnancy to find out how early they could see babies), and where I knew what I was looking for, I had him booked in by 3 days old!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/10/2009 11:05

Flame - I used an osteopath for DS too, I'd forgotten about that. He got stuck and wouldn't come out, so was born by em cs, but after birth, he screamed terribly if he was swaddled, and would always lay with his head on the side and tilted so his nose pointed almost straight up! I used to say he had a 'flip top' head! We did about three sessions of cranial osteopathy and he became much better, osteopath also recommended changing the which end of the cot / crib DS had his head, as they tend to sleep facing the way mum approaches them, by alternating, they don't have such a tendency for cricks in the neck, or pressure on the same point all the time.

Must remember to look out for that this time round too.
