aw HC so cute

princessmel · 03/10/2009 22:14

Which feeding pillows have you guys got (if any)?? I borrowed mine before so never needed to buy one.

I know you can manage with normal pillows but I do think these are better. They are firmer and dont slip about.

I'm looking at a widgey and the mothercare and argos own brand ones. You can't tell how firm they are online though...

HumphreysCorner · 03/10/2009 23:32

princessmel-mine started with contractions as my waters were unbreakable. What is a feeding pillow as never had one? If in bed I balance him on my arm and if on the sofa I do put a cushion on my knee if that is what you all mean.

Hello all,

Sorry for taking so long to come back with my birth announcement....

Baby Patrick David was born on 29/09/09. The c-section went well and we came home on Friday. He is gorgeous and feeding very well. At the moment he's nocturnal so I'm attempting to turn that round as I have bags on my bags under my eyes.

HC love the name Matthew John - I already have one of those!

Congratulations to all the new arrivals and all those waiting

rubyslippers · 04/10/2009 09:41

hello - we have a beautiful baby girl

thanks for all your good wishes

was incredibly quick - had a stretch and sweep ant 11.30 am, cx started at 1.00 pm every 20 mins, then every 12 and then a weird break. Labour ward wanted me in as baby was very quiet so when we were in the car cx started again with a vengeance - took nearly 40 mins to get to hospital

cx were now coming evety 4 mins - MW checked me at 6.30 pm ish and was 4cm so we dashed off to the delivery suite and luckily the pool room was free - whoop!

the water was bliss and really helped - i didn't let go of the gas and air but the cx were coming in huge waves with no breaks - at 8 pm i felt i wanted to push

at 8.10 my waters went

at 8.15 the head was out at at 8.18 she was born under water around 7.5 hours after labour started!

the MW laid her on me and i saw she was a girl

we stayed in the water for a bit and DH cut the cord

i then staggered out of the pool and delivered the placenta - we had an hour of skin to skin and feeding which was bliss - no hurry to get her weighed or dressed

she was 6 lbs 6 oz - no name yet!

she is feeding a lot but as my milk isn't in yet it is a bit tiring and my nipples are already a bit sore as her latch is not great but we will get there

will be back later to catch up with everryone elses' news

wibblydibs · 04/10/2009 12:29

Hello everyone - not had time to catch up on all the news yet but just wanted to let you know that Louis Dashiell was born on Tuesday 29th at 13.23 (same day as DD1) weighing a whopping 9lb 1oz - I am petite 5' 1" so it's no wonder I was on crutches for the last few months! Induction was hideous, but I'm glad i had it as lord only knows how big he would've been if he'd been born at term!

Only got out of hospital yesterday as we had a few complications - but we're both well and enjoying being at home now - DD's are very excited to have a baby brother.

Hope everyone's doing ok - will catch up properly later.

HappyTangerine · 04/10/2009 13:33

Congratulations Ohmani ruby and wibblydibs, loving all the names.

Gorgeous photos now being posted, makes me v broody-good thing I'm pg!

Have another stretch and sweep tomorrow at 10.40am, hoping this will have the same speedy effect as ruby's but somehow suspect not-this baby really doesn't want to come out. Getting some shocking cramps but more periody than anything with any regularity. Still seeking out positive induction stories, am kind of resigned to it now.

Love to everyone x

LittleMissBliss · 04/10/2009 14:44

HC He's beautiful!

Congratulations Ohami, ruby and wibblydibs Sammysam I got a feeding pillow this time and love it! Have used it loads already ds sleeps on it (like on profile picture) and its great for feeding sitting up in bed as well as on the sofa. Mines sort of like a bean bag. so forms around the baby IYSWIM. I got it from an ebay shop £20 with free postage, took about 2-3 days to arrive i think. here it's ending soon though! this one comes witha spare cover too!

LittleMissBliss · 04/10/2009 14:50
  • ohmani oops!

DS1 Is at his nana's, It's sooooooo easy with one. Especially as he just feeds and sleeps! Because my letdown is so fast he finishes a feed in 10 minutes.

Night feeds are so much better a week on. I think about three hourly but i've given up checking as i'm just feeding on demand and not really awake.
Ds is next to me in bed and i just feed lying down. Which means he doesn't cry at night! I the only problem is because he doesn't cry i have to force myself to wake up to remember to change his nappy.

Oh i just love newborns still looking at him in wonder.

saraheb · 04/10/2009 16:00

congratulations ohmani and wibblydibs

cute pic HC

Wow, babies are certainly arriving now. Thought I might be joining everyone last night but it all stopped after an hour or so. Grateful really as still so much to do. Had a moment of panic when I thought "this is it" before it all stopped.

Thinking cx thoughts for all those who want them

smallone · 04/10/2009 16:07

Hi all, have had a lovely weekend with my sister here, really relaxing, she's been looking after dd and cooking for me, doing the driving etc. Its been great and I was hoping that I would go into labour before she left, but no sign.

Nothing happened after the possible small show so I think it was probably just extra discharge. (only about a tsp and no streaking)

Don't know what I'm going to do with myself this week. I'm not really that keen on going out, esp don't want to drive myself, but I'll go bonkers in the house with DD for a week.

Whats everyone else doing to pass the time?

OP posts:
wibblydibs · 04/10/2009 16:24

Sorry HT should've checked if anyone was waiting for an induction before saying that it was hideous! It was just the long wait that made it rubbish - once things actually got started it was just like normal labour.

bored too but have just ordered a tesco grocery delivery for tomorrow evening...maybe we'll be in maybe we'll be at the hospital...? No twinges for several days now.
39+1
Hope all the new babies are doing well and you're recovering from birth and getting some sleep...
It's exciting to hear news and makes me realise a baby WILL arrive sometime in the next 3 weeks...

HumphreysCorner · 04/10/2009 20:55

Congratulations to wibblydibs and Ohmani-well done girls.

Matthew is still awake all night and feeding all night so my nipples are so sore. The MW showed me how to latch him on better but I don't seem to have cracked it yet. His suck is like a razor blade so am hoping it will improve.

Must go as he needs yet another feed.

Went to bed an hour ago but couldn't sleep due to insanely itchy piles, just been to the loo and loads of my mucous plug has come away. Hurrah! Taken some paracetamol to try and kill the pile itch and am hoping to get some sleep. Started with labour within a day of show last time so fingers crossed I won't be too much longer now!

Feeling a bit period painy. hmmmmn

OP posts:
dogstar · 04/10/2009 23:31
